View Full Version : Super Bowl bets?

The Rock

Yeah, yeah, The Rock knows that it's only Week 9 of 17 in the NFL but hey, that means it's halfway through the season already. This year is shaping up to be more confusing than past years as no clear faovrites have emerged. In fact, all four teams that were involved in last year's Conference Finals (Denver, the Jets, Minnesota, and Atlanta) are either completely out of the playoff hunt, or are barely breathing.

In the AFC West, Seattle is leadingwith the chiefs closing in. The AFC Central has strong contenders in Tennessee and Jacksonville. But the most competitive division in the NFL is the AFC East with Miami (7-1), Indianapolis (6-2), New England (6-2) and Buffalo (6-3).

The NFC East is a mass of confusion for the Redskins, Giants, and Cowboys. The surprising St. Louis clearly leads the NFC West while the even more suprising Detroit Lions are leading the NFC Central without the retired Barry Sanders or the injured Herman Moore. So, who are your Super Bowl bets this year?

The Rams started out great, but their defense if very suspect. I think they became a little overrated when they won their first 6 games or so.

I think the Seahawks matured tremendously when they beat Green Bay on the road. Mike Holmgren is doing a great job with Kitna who he says has a chance to be as good as Favre. The fact that Mike's won before can be the difference although Jimmy Johnson can say the same thing (Dallas).

The Titans have been surprising but I think their inexperience might show in the end. The Vikings are coming on as well in the NFC Central with George taking over.

Like the Rock said, it's hard to tell since we're barely halfway through the season but Seattle and St. Louis would be my picks for now.

i like the seattle seahawks led by kitna, watters and mayes. with holgrem in the helm, they will do good come play off time. joey galloway will be back too as an added weapon.

well...sentimental favorite ko and detroit lions. Its been a surprise that they have exceeded their 98-99 season record (5-11) after week 9 (6-2). I hope they can go all the way and make Barry regret his retirement. It would be IRONIC :(

I like the Dolphins and the Patriots in the AFC, but Miami probably wants it more. Now, for the NFC? Uh, sige na nga, the Vikings may yet pull something off.

Vikings are finally getting back into their groove, they look pretty good.. although Jeff George is known for choking down the stretch, i think that he has enough arsenals in his offense to help him finally win in the playoffs, and hopefully the SuperBowl.

Rams. They have a very weak schedule for the
rest of the second half...
Weak defense?..heck, they scored two td's
yesterday against Carolina...
Go Rams!

I really like the Green Bay Packers and I thought they were strong when they were 4-2. But since they have lost their last 3 games, I think it would now take a miracle to even reach the playoffs especially with the way they are playing right now.

I hope there would be a miracle. Deep down, I still believe that Brett Favre is one of the best quarterback.

I would go for the NE Patriots. Drew Bledsoe has been consistent this season except for the upset yesterday against the NY Jets.
But I'm really a Cowboys fan ever since...still hope they make the Superbowl!!!

allycia:

I also admire Favre a lot and am with you when you said that he is one of the best quarterbacks around. He was just phenomenal in those first few games of the season when he led his team to all of those comebacks. So what do you think is up with him the last few games? Do you think he and his teammates just really miss Holmgren's winning ways?

Harley Quinn:

WOw,I'm so happy to know I'm not alone here.

Anyway, it seems that there are really many factors. First, his swollen thumb is really bothering him, although he said he doesn't want to make that an excuse. Second, experts are saying that he misses Holmgren more than Holmgren misses him. There's no one to discipline him now coz let's face it, their new coach does not really have the authority figure that Holmgren has. And lastly, I think the whole team is not really playing with passion. If you have seen their game against Dallas, there were so many dropped passes that they just couldn't afford at this point.

But one thing I know is that Favre is not giving up. Let's just hope that they would win this Sunday againts the NFC Central leader - Detroit Lions.

With Green Bay, I think Bret Favre just doesn't have the talent, leadership and experience around him that he used to have including the coaching. He single handedly won games for the Packers earlier this year but one person really cannot do it every game. The fact that they lost to the Seahawks and Bears at home, two of their most bitter rivals (cuz of Holmgren and well, Chicago has been their #1 enemy matagal na) is an indication that emotional motivation is not enough for this team since they're not as talented as before.

hi everyone...since i know-it-all anyway (hehehe).

why is everyone counting out minnesota? i think the vikings will still win the nfc, probably over st. louis.

for the afc, it will be a lot harder because of some injuries to key players but jacksonville looks fine (and they have playoff experience, too). kitna probably won't take the seahawks far. jaguars over dolphins in the afc championship.

for the super bowl...i will take the vikings.

the packers won over the lions....favre's thumb is ok now....next opponent is the niners....GO PACK GO!

although i have to agree that it looks like the vikings will top the nfc central...

well, there's always the wild card to hope for...and then a miracle :)

with all the injuries to key players, i think the team that stays healthy will go all the way to the Super Bowl. so far the jags are the most consistent but thats coz their key players are there but i smell an upset brewing in the afc with all the surprise teams in the conference. the nfc is a question mark. there's no telling whos going to make it out alive. the vikings' defense has been exposed. last year the offense overshadowed the D but since the offense is struggling this year it showed. hang on to your seat people! we're in for one heck of a ride!

yah, SeaHawks look good. I think it'll be between the seahawks and colts in the AFC champoinship. with the Colts winnin..

in the NFC.. gawd.. this conference is weak this year. but the Vikings look the best down the straight... They'll kill the Rams in the NFC champoinship

my picks are Vikings vs. Colts

hmmmmm...

an absent name from all the postings is Dan Marino. just wondering how much Marino wants the ring this year, especially after's Elway's retirement. it's not such a far off possibility since they are 2nd in their division.

dolphins for me. :)

I guess we overlooked the Jaguars huh??

I hate to jump in the bandwagon but the Colts are looking good. Manning's showing so much poise leading his team and James is just unstoppable!

marina99: The Dolphins were also my sentimental favorite but I think they're currently tied with the Bills who have beaten them twice. Malabo 'ata.

Okay, guys, so we're facing the last games of the regular season.

Though it breaks my heart to say this, the Dolphins don't look like they'll make it. Even if they do make it to the playoffs, the Colts will be a major team to contend with. And Jacksonville got CRUSHED by Tennessee last week! It's looking like the Manning and his gang will represent the AFC.

The Rams have made it to the playoffs and have home field advantage---throughout? (I'm not sure of this, can someone verify?) The Vikings don't look too hot to me so it does look like the Rams will show up for the NFC.

Too bad the Cowboys are aging, The broncos lost Elway to retirement and TD to injury. Atlanta Loast Jamal Anderson to njury as well. As far as I think Maybe the Jets can make it this year. They got a good coach in Bill Parcells, Explosive offense in Keyshawn Johnson and consistency in Curtis Martin.
But Let's not count Jacksonville and New England out Yet. The NFC still has The pack to look forward to. The Rams are stepping up thanks to the Addition of Marshall Faulk. But let's not forget those Vikings who ca easily explode in offense with thier three wide recievers and a punishing defense led by John Randle.

blakedaddy, the Jets were eliminated from the playoffs SINCE DECEMBER! New England was eliminated TWO WEEKS AGO! Better check your stats before posting.
