View Full Version : ANIME: What's ur opinion about it??????

For me, my OPINION about ANIME......
to be totally HONEST.... I find it....
LAME AND IT SUCKS. I definitely LOATHE ANIME.
I just hate it,,, for my OWN OPINION.
Please don't get me wrong but for my own perspective about it... it really sucks and it isn't that GREAT at all. Almost some of my friends are totally into ANIME, and all they care about is ANIME,,, and I'm tired of hearing about it coz it just doesn't fit me and it isn't my like. I don't like it at all.
For all the ppl out there who REALLY loves ANIME,,, go on liking it, there's nothing wrong to it, it's just that I like to express what I feel about it. But sometimes it gets too irritating. I mean, some ppl like CURIOUS PLAY, and it doesn't have any sense, the story is totally SENSELESS. Many ppl find it ok, but some totally HATE ANIME. And some ppl are totally PATHETIC about it. How PATHETIC could they get???? http://www.pinoyexchange.com/angry.gif Some ppl are getting tooo far about this anime thing, they could sometime waste their money or allowances on it. Also, some ANIME is centered on fighting and SEX, it's not good for other smaller children, POKEMON is ok for kids coz it doesn't show any violence or some
scenes that are CENSORED. Like, GHOST FIGHTER, it has a HOMOSEXUAL relationship. It's too bad for children, they might think that it's ok to have a relationship with the same sex. Some fight scenes are way to violent for kids. That's why children nowadays are so violent in some way and they get that by watching ANIME. TV networks must also be BROAD-MINDED about this kind of shows
They should look at it in every angle, if it's good or not for kids and some ppl, coz it's already terrorizing children's minds. Coz they get it in where... ANIME. And that's the bottom line, some ANIME are just not too good for children. They are very much influenced by it. And all those TV networks that are showing these types of ANIME, all they care about it their ratings but not other ppl, how it can affect young minds. Aren't they a bit SELFISH in some way. Please think about it and you'll see what I really mean. But if ur NARROW-MINDED, don't bother, I won't argue with you.

This is nothing personal, it's just that I realized some things and I like it to tell it to ppl. Sorry if anyone gets offended by what I'm saying, it's only reality, and this kind of things happen in real life, not on TV.
:) :) :)

I'm trying to point out something that some ppl might not understand. Just because they totally love ANIME or just FANATIC about it.
Then they will just ignore what I'm trying to say. If you ignore it, it's ok with me, but if you really care about other ppl, specially little children, then post what you have to say and let me hear it, ur own point of view.
I do this coz I care for ppl and children. It will totally ruin their minds and way of thinking. Filipino customs are different to Foreign customs, lets try to keep it the Filipino way, don't let other customs ruin what we ppl our used to or what we started.

To each his own.

I believe that parents play a crucial role in shaping their children's minds. They should always be available for guidance.

First of all, The Rock says this, Nibs, you are perfectly entitled to your opinion. ;) That's what Pinoy Exchange is all about. Now The Rock thinks that you may be generalizing too much about anime. In Japan, the anime audience encompasses both young and old alike. There are anime genres that are specifically tailored for kids, and some that have no place near children whatsoever. The Rock knows this because he did a research paper on anime just last semester.

There are a lot of different genres within anime. Some are sword and sorcery type, others deal with robots, some feature magical girls, others are romantic comedies, you get the picture. Japanese animators and storywriters don't make anime merely to entertain little children. The level of storylines, plot development, animation, and camera angles has gotten so sophisticated in Japanese anime that sometimes, they're better than live action features.

But please, don't blame the Japanese and their culture for what some people who lack supervision are doing. That argument about the Filipino way is just wrong, because you're basically saying we shouldn't listen to anything that isn't Filipino. All that will lead to is stagnation and ruin. http://www.pinoyexchange.com/angry.gif Closing our doors and our minds to what isn't Filipino is basically saying we don't need any other country or culture to survive, and that is just plain ignorant.

That being said, The Rock says that both GMA and ABS-CBN screwed up a bit when they decided to hunt for anime to show in the Philippines. Anime such as Neon Genesis Evangelion shouldn't be shown on a weekday afternoon because it's plot is way too sophisticated and convoluted for children to understand. But that doesn't mean that all anime is bad, or should be the subject of someone's utter hatred. A lot of responsibility falls on the networks, but it is also the responsibility of parents, as stated by GForce, to watch what their children are watching. Don't blame violent acts solely on anime. The Rock grew up watching Voltes V, UFO Grendaizer, StarBlazers, Danguard Ace, and many other anime, and he hasn't killed anybody yet. ;)

Nibs, maybe before you completely turn your back on anime, you should try and ask your friends for advice on what type of anime to watch. As The Rock said, there are so many genres now that everybody will find some kind of anime to suit everyone's individual tastes. Your friends seem to be very knowledgable on the subject, and The Rock is sure that they would be more than willing to help enlighten you to the good side of anime.

If you smell what The Rock is cookin!

in life there are good things and bad things... so just like anything- there's good anime... and there's bad anime. good anime for me are those with great stories, developed characters and impressive animation. i happen to like Akira very much. i stay away from dubbed (even the english ones) versions coz that can really screw up the story. i don't really qualify as an anime freak tho (i can name less than 10 anime characters)... i really don't get why people can be so very rabid about it.

Anime is a question of audience, and how that audience responds to it. The Japanese do have a distinctly different culture, and it does show not only in Anime, but even in mainstream Japanese films and tv. As such, it caters to a specific segment here in Philippine society - that segment which has a similar taste. The rather unfortunate thing is that in the effort to create a cash cow out of anime, it has invaded mainstream media, and has foregone the natural boundaries of being a specialized hobby.

Anime can have a great impact on the impressionable, namely children. I agree wholeheartedly with The Rock about Neon Genesis Evangelion (which I loved, but as a 24 year old) - it is definitely NOT wholly or even generally about violence or sex... However, from the point of view of a child, NGE is VERY violent, and for the excitable child - the VIOLENCE becomes the main attraction.

Well, I guess there's good and bad about everything... Just like computers and video games. It's not so much the content - it's the interpretation. :)

as the rock said, there are different genres of anime. some are really intended for children and some are intended for adults.

Pokemon in itself is anime. and it is for children. GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka) is also an anime yet it is intended for more mature audiences, so is Evangelion. I am not really a fanatic about anime but I find anime better than the usual candy coated animation. Because anime can deal with subjects which are usual off limits for the usual cartoons.

AS was said, some anime shows touch on homosexual relationships, It is but a way of dealing with the topic of homosexuality, which in itself is very touchy.

All I can say is, before you say anything about anime, do some research first.

i think some anime are way better than many feature films.

sure some anime are violent, but unlike many locally produced films, these animes have stories and I mean REAL stories. sometimes violence is an integral part of a story and that what makes it an interesting watch.

also some animes feature scene shots that live films could not show...take for example the Matrix. many scenes from this movie are said to be on the cutting edge of filming...but anime has been doing that for years and in fact the directors credit anime for inspiration.

So if you don't like anime in general at least recognize the talent and the effort their creators are putting in each episode.

hello there Nibs! :)hmmm you don't like anime eh ... well that's your opinion and i won't argue with that. well you know what i think ... animes are both good and bad. well i must admit that i myself watch these cartoons ... because they make me feel like a child again. hey! don't think na matanda na ako ... mayroon pa ring karugtong na "teen' ang age ko. they are good because you can also pick up moral lessons from these cartoons like lessons abt. friendship, love, loyalty, trust, perseverance and a lot more. although i must admit some animes are very senseless because i think these animes are intended for childrens whose only intention why they watch is because of the pictures they see and of the sounds they hear. but there are a lot of animes out there are are suited for teenagers and young adults :).
for those people who are very fanatic about these cartoons. we should understand them, because maybe this is the only way they can express themselves. we should not be irritated by their behavoir. instead why don't we just listen to their stories ... if you really can't take it anymore then tell them nicely that you don't like to hear stories about this anime. shouting at them or getting mad at them  won't help. it will just hurt their feelings :( . if still they are bugging you get a diskman and listen instead to your favorite CD ;) .
well that's all folks! i like anime because they make me feel good. hehehehehe :)

I don't think its right for me to piece off your opinion on anime and argue with you about it, since you didn't plan on pissing anyone off with your opinion anyway, and that's a very good thing. :)

A lot of my friends feel the same way as you do. They don't understand why anime appeals so much to me, and in my case, I don't understand why anime doesn't appeal to them. We're all in the same boat in a weird way, so there's nothing really wrong here.

What I don't like are the people who call anime baduy and not worth their time just because its made popular by the local TV stations. I remember someone telling me that "Anime is so corny dahil pangmasa na" and it was cooler when "wala pang masyadong nanonood". Excuse me? Isnt't that elitistic and selfish?

Anyway, back to my point. I am a very big fan of anime, especially those that has been shown here in the philippines like Gundam Wing (who the hell cares if they translated it into Tagalog), RK, EVA, and yes, Curious Play (Fushigi Yuugi). I appreciate the art and quality of its content, and especially the music. I couldn't care less if it becomes "pang-masa" or whatever, as long as it appeals to me, I will watch it. :)
