How do you define intelligence?
Who is an Intellient person for you?
Is it merely measured by a high percentile rank in tests?
Is is it defined by how creative a person is...
Let's pause for a while and think...

hmm...i guess this thread had a long pause................for me,intelligence kasi has diff.aspects -it maybe in academics,arts,etc....but at any rate,as long as the person excels in it and is very diverse in it then he /she may be considered a genius.....just a thought...

I realize that this thread was born out of another thread in the Academe Forum, but hasn't this been discussed at the Realm of Thought? I'd be surprised if this wasn't tackled before...
Wala lang. :)

Yeah! I think this topic should be in the Realm of Thoughts.
Anyway to answer, I think intelligence does not depend on how much you know, but how and how much of your own resources and knowledge you can use in different situation. Unfortunately it is very difficult if not impossible to measure.

I don't think intelligence is measured by how u perform on examinations. When u perform well in an exam, u r not necessarily intelligent. Kung masipag ka, u can take on different exams. But there are intelligent people na tamad. The only way to know a person if he/she is intelligent is to be his/her company for a long time, to know how deep he/she thinks.
Yes, i think, intelligence is measured by how deep u think ( and of course arrive at some conclusions... not just a senseless thinking).

Intelligence is knowing how and what to respond when queried.

I decided to place this topic here because I wanted to have an academic and functional discussion of Intelligence. If I place this in ROT, people there would come up with philosophical jargons. Let's try to see how people involved in the academe --students, admin and teachers-- see intelligence.
Besides, a lot of topics about Intelligence (i.e Artificial Intelligence, IQ, etc) already exist in the ROT forum

intelligence is:
1. having sculpted features and alabaster complexion with which to cow everyone from taxi drivers to company recruitment officers; or
2. in the absence of #1, developing a manner of deportment to a degree that will convince anyone of your high social status;
3. having a smooth (though not correct) command of written and verbal english with the end-result of convincing others of your proficiency in said language.
4. coming from a school you think is preferable and spending the rest of your life explaining to yourself and to others why this is so.
...many more i just can't remember. i still have several past postings to read....

intelligence is how well you respond to questions and how good you are in some things that excel among the rest.:)

This should be merged with the other "intelligence" thread. Thank you. :)
