Hey everyone out there:
This is the first time I have ever posted anything to a forum, so here goes...
I am doing some research on the balikbayan program, and lately have been thinking a lot about the balikbayan box -- you know, the thing that all of us take back to the Philippines. So I have a couple questions for you:
1) What do you think our friends and family would say if we didn't bring back the balikbayan box filled with pasalubong? Like what if we just said, "I couldn't carry the box and didn't have time to shop, so I'm giving you all some money instead (like $20 or so)?
2) what do we think all the stuff means? Why do we all send spam, towels, soap, Nike's, etc., which we could probably just buy got there?
Thanks for any responses. By the way, I don't know if I have the nerve not to bring the box back, so if any of you have ever done the I would love to hear about it!
