Pardon me for my ignorance, but is this the tournament that was sponsored by the Philippine Daily Inquirer? I saw the item on an Inquirer issue this week and the finals was an all-Ateneo affair.

Who were the members of the Ateneo teams that won? Are they the usual suspects....William Panlilio, Bobby Benedicto, etc.? What were their placings? Who or which team was 1st, 2nd, and 3rd?

Nope, it wasn't the same Panlilio-Benedicto tandem. I was able to talk to the Accounting teacher of one of the members, and he's supposed to be a junior Economics major.

Congratulations to Ateneo!

I've read Inquirer's article about the event and I found it amusing that in the public speaking contest, an Atenean won for his topic: "Why UP Diliman is the best place to be." I wonder what he said. :)

The winner from the Ateneo must have been a good actor and a convincing liar on top of being a good debater. Oh well!! That's part of debating I guess. :D

Love and peace to all mankind.

Congrats to the Atenean debaters for a clean sweep (first and first runner-up places)!!!

Very impressive once again. Stay humble.

I adjudicated for two rounds, but had work the other times... it looked like a good tournament, though... :)

Will be in the Asians this year, so if any of you are going, see you there! ;)

It was a good tournament. I was there for around 3 days, sacrificing my study time.

I thought the Announcements of the winners were terribly AntiClimactic since they were announced around 5 hours later...
The Public speaking Finals should have been done during the Finals' Prep time.

ANyway, the tournament was great, the food was great, the people, as usual, were great.

Muntik nga lang magsuntukan during the Semis! Hahahaha!

Incidentally, the top speakers were from ADMU 2:
1)John Fajardo
2)Madie Dy
3)Jess Lopez

From ADMU1
4)James Bitanga
6)Wilfred Segovia
8)Eleanor Uy

It just shows that Ateneo's winning debate tournaments isn't dependent on having Panlilio and Benedicto on the same team as a lot of people think.

Congratulations to everyone!
