KD ... oks ba ito dito?

Pls see part of email below. Trying to send $ from one bank to another in the Philippines -- contribution to the OFW Bank.

" Strange ang set up ng bank dito sa atin. Hindi ko rin maintindihan kung bakit ganoon. They allow bank to bank transfer of funds pero kung same bank lang. Eg. PnB SnFernando to PNB anywhere in the country.

Sa Metrobank maski subsidiary na nila ang Global bank, since hindi on line, may 1 day clearing pa. Kaso when I told them that ang telegraphic transfer ay dollar. THe money should be deposited more than 15 days sa bank, and it takes 15 days clearing din daw. Labo ano? I was asking the personnel sa
bank .. ang sagot lang sa akin, ganoon daw kasi ang set up. No explanation given."

Any banker here or anyone who understand the process/setup, kindly explain please?!

He should ask about PDDTS (Philippine Domestic Dollar Transfer System) remittances. You can transfer dollars between accounts as long as both the sending and receiving banks are members of the PCD (Philippine Central Depository, Inc). Transfer is normally "same-day" although a one-day delay is typical, depending on the efficiency of the receiving bank.

There are 54 PCD member banks. For a list, visit the PCD website (http://www.pcd.com.ph). Metrobank and Global Bank are both members.

As for the statement:

THe money should be deposited more than 15 days sa bank, and it takes 15 days clearing din daw. Labo ano? I was asking the personnel sa bank .. ang sagot lang sa akin, ganoon daw kasi ang set up. No explanation given.

...this arises from employee ignorance, indifference, or both. They should know better. Unfortunately, there are many of these employees in all banks in this country, and maybe around the world.

You need to know the recipient's account number at the receiving bank, as well as the exact account name. PDDTS takes care of the rest. It is quite fast, as I use it quite frequently.

Thanks a lot for the information KD!

From your reply, there rise a question to the working Filipino:

Do you really know the in and out of your job? Is there a part of your job that you don't really know or simply hate because it points out your weakness? Knowing that you are weak in that part, you try to avoid it as much as possible? How do you deal with it?
