With the new breed of music right now, drop down tuning had been a rave amongs guitar players who prefer to play deeper sounds . . .

On the other hand, standard guitar players considered it playing the short cut way and degrading the versatility of guitar playing . . .

So r u or r u not to drop down tuning?

I enjoy playing in open tuning, particularly DADGAD and DADF#AD.

I hate dropped-D tuning, i like to play my powerchords the way it was meant to be played.

I almost always tune my axe a half-step lower, it's more darker sounding, plus it's easier to bend strings, etc...or maybe because most songs my band covers is in Eb :D

Another tuning i like alot is C(3 whole steps down), the strings feels very spongy and sounds really heavy without the rattling noise at the E string you get when you tune down to B or A. Plus, i play death metal, and i really dig that bands who tune to C (hypocrisy, entombed, etc.)

:silly:

drop D tuning is very common in rock. other common alternate tunings are tune all strings down a whole step or half step.

mikoid- thats the tuning of 'song for george' ni EJ right?

marloni -- i'm not sure about song for george, but DADGAD makes for great eastern sounding or folksy instrumentals.

dropped-d tuning is ideal for indie rock, funk, hc-punk and alternative metal... i use it when i play covers from tool, helmet, silver chair, perfect circle, biohazard, snapcase and sometimes primus... actually dropped-d tuning is not ideal to use when you want a deeper sound... you use dropped-d tuning if you wanna play many chords on the fretboard on a faster tempo... but if you want a deeper sound, as used in death and doom metal, you tune all your strings down 3-4 steps and use heavier gauges like 10/11...

it's fine if you want to use dropped-d, though i really don't find it any deeper nor melodious. it just makes power chords easier to do. mas ok ang sound pag naka-C or naka-A. Pag B na, medyo ang mahirap na palitawin yung melody dun diba.
but if "kaskas" lang naman ang ginagawa sa gitara, sige magdropped-d kana. kung masaya ka e...

if the song requires it. we have two new songs where we use this tuning. different tunings were meant to make life easier.

it really depends...i also use the dropped-d or sometimes i tune down to Eb or D even..like the tuning for Lithium(nirvana)...it really depends sa style of play mo...chaka ok rin mag experiment eh,like yung chords sa Everlong ng Foo Fighters....

ok lang. ano naman masama dun sa mag-dropped-D ka?
pero naka-standard lang ako lagi, mas nadadalian ako
gumawa ng riff...usually funk, jazz, blues lang naman kasi ang tinutugtog ko.
