1) don't eat 4 hours before you go to bed

2) brush your teeth before eating para mabawasan yung gana mo sa pagkain

3) mag-egg mask ka 3x a week [egg white lang po lagay sa mukha at pag natuyo, wash off with water lang]

4) clean your face before going to sleep kahit puyat ka o sabog o lasing

i want to share my beauty tips.

1. have an oatmeal mask once a week. make the oatmeal powder like by putting it in a blender then get small amount enough to cover your face on your hand then put some water. put it on your face and leave for 10-15 min. rinse with lukewarm water. if done continously, face will be smooth and free of pores.

2. scrub scrub.. scrub your body at least 3 times a week with a loofah or oh i forgot how its called, the round soft thing... its on the tip of my tongue.... ughhhh, anyways. use some shower gel, shower foam or anything liguid, put it in a sugar and begin scrubbing your body. this will help remove dead skin cell leaving your skin smooth and flawless....

3. hair... never as in NEVER rinse your hair with warm water, unless of course if it has oil in it.. but if you do, be sure to wash it with cold water after using the warm water, cold water will give your hair the bounce and life you want. if washed with warm water, this will make your hair look like you didnt shampoo at all.

hope i helped.... i will post more .....

i think that's rather important :D

1. drink plenty of water. i use the (on average) 8 glasses per day suggestion.
2. eat 4-5 small portioned meals a day instead of 3 huge ones.
3. avoid eating fried foods, beef, and the skin of the chicken.
4. stay away from foods with high fat content.

those are all i can think of right now.

eat foods high in fiber
drink lots of liquid (water/fruit juice/diet cola)
exercise- swim and/or take long walks
try to avoid processed foods

take a bath everyday
don't sleep with make-up on
brush your teeth/floss

always use moisturizer! (i can swear on this)

be happy :) ( sabi nga nila, no one cares if you're miserable, so you might as well be happy :) )

yeah visit www.shagmail.com , i even ordered her book, nice book full of beauty tips.. and almost everything written there are true and effective.

anyway here another tips from me naman: proven already.

1. if you want your legs to shrink a little, every morning do a scisscor exercise by lifting your legs while lying on your back and move those big legs just like a scisccor. (pano ba spelling ng gunting :D ?)

2. to shrink those big belly naman, hold your breath, tummy in and butt out then exhale and release. you can do this everywhere! sitting, standing, malling, talking on the phone or even chatting on the net.

Don't do this unless you really need to lose weight (ie. you're obese or bordering on obese). Even then, just do this two weeks per month at the most. You'll put your kidney in danger.

aren't these ways quite unhealthy? cutting down your calorie intake too much can slow down your metabolism. also, you need your daily nutrients to stay healthy. instead of trying the above ways, try a HEALTHY diet WITH exercise....nothing beats that.

i think most pinays'(females' for that matter) notion of being beautiful is being skinny and not exactly healthy. healthy eating with exercise is the way to go unless you want to look like a lifeless anorexic.

Hi!

I completely agree with X0X0, it's better to have 4-5 small meals than 3 huge meals. It helps speed up metabolism and keeps one from getting hungry, hence the tendency to overeat is less. Also agree with Chikity-Chynna.

Re the after-6, no carbo and water therapy, find them quite dangerous to the health. Siguro they can help you lose some pounds quickly during the early stages. Pero eventually, your metabolism will have slowed down and wa-epek na sya. Also, don't think you can really keep up with these kinds of diets for long. Eventually, magbebreak down ka din and you'll gain back the weight you've lost and more. I still find the exercise and healthy eating duo the best. *okay*

Galing ng mga beauty tips nyo ah. I will definitely try them. :winknudge:

This is the only tip I can come up with right now. For puffy eyes, apply the back of a spoon dipped/run in cold water. Will post more when I think of something.

Hi peepz!

Got this from an email subscription. Hope we can all benefit from this tip. :D

1) Apply the soy milk to the areas, leave it on a minute or so, and rinse.
2) The studies have shown it does work to retard hair growth and therefore it should be used often since hair growth varies as far as cycles.
3) Using this daily is probably the best to see the best results. It will take time to notice the difference like any of the other hair retardent products and creams on the market.
4) Results vary with the individual.

some beauty products i swear by:

St. Ives Apricot Scrub
-this baby is the ultimate bath companion! i use it on my elbows, knees, feet, and other tight areas of my body :D it's also great on blackheads, though i don't use it on my entire face, only on my chin and nose coz sometimes it might aggravate existing zits...

Papaya Soap
-nakakaputi talaga sya na natural ang dating... i use this on my underarms, arms and legs

Perla (White)
-this one works just like the papaya soap (more effective pa), only be careful with using this because not all people are hiyang with it. i know i am! works well with acne on ur back too! :D

Vitamin E gel capsule
-this baby works hella well on scars! i had some stitches done on my face because of a prior accident which left an ugly dark scar... i smeared some of this stuff every night, and whaddayaknow... it lightened up my scar! mukha na lang syang line na nagaappear when i crinkle my eyes :D

`sÜp@fLy

iskaliber and cakes!

you can use any brand of vitamin E gel capsules... i use those generic ones from Sav-on... i think Squalene's kinda expensive... u can get them from any drug store without prescription since it's only a supplement... to use it, u just pop open the capsule (i ***** it open with a toothpick :D ) and smear the goo on ur scar... u need not use the entire capsule, u can save the rest of the gel on a dixie cup and put in on the ref... what i used to do is ***** several capsules at a time and place it in a dixie cup and mix it with some Hirudoid... i use it on my scar as well as on the veins on my feet :D it worked for me :)

as for the mayo thing, i used to do it before when i had the time kse it's kinda hard to rinse out... it's sorta like a deep-condition treatment, so u can use it to once-twice a week :)

Sweetkay
Feb 4, 2002, 09:07 PM

STRESS MAKES FATS LINGER

A study has found evidence that stress, even during short periods, can cause the body to take longer to clear heart-amaging fats from the bloodstream. Researchers at Ohio State University tested how quickly triglycerides -- fats linked to heart disease -- were eliminated from the blood of stressed and relaxed volunteers. They found stress caused triglycerides to remain in the bloodstream longer. The findings suggest one reason why stress has been linked to heart disease, said Catherine Stoney, co-author of the study and professor of psychology. "If a person has a high-fat snack or meal during a time of stress, that fat is going to be circulating in the blood for a longer period of time," Stoney said. "That means it may be more likely to be deposited in the arteries where it can contribute to heart disease." The study appears in the journal Psychophysiology.

beauty tips...

- for very sensitive skin, try this facial wash: mix powdered milk with water to get a paste. use as you would any facial wash. to get a scrub, add some raw oats.

- for a body scrub, mix sugar with baby oil. you'll get out of the shower with a softer, glowing skin!

- to get shiny hair, apply a drop of castor oil to dry hair.

- for softer soles, moisturize feet by rubbing on some petroleum jelly and putting on socks just before you sleep.

- to smell better, add a drop of your fave perfume into your final bath rinse.

- to make your perfume last longer, spray some on your hair.

- to put a "natural" glow on your face, apply a little petroleum jelly on your cheeks.

- to lighten new scars, apply castor oil everyday.

- to remove shampoo residue (for clarifying), use lemon juice on your hair when ever needed. you'll know you need it when your favorite shampoo starts loosing its effect.

diet tips...

- drink plenty of water especially before meals because most people confuse thirst with hunger.

- eat 3 full meals and skip in-between meals. brush your teeth immediately after a meal to avoid in-between cravings.

- never eat to much in one meal and think of skipping the next meal...this rarely works.

- instead of indulging in junk foods try healthier alternatives like banana chips and other dried fruits, popcorn (no butter pls!), and veggie sticks.

- exercise at least 30 mins everyday.

... i only posted things i actually do, i can swear they all work ;) try them!!!

Hi a!

Think the trick is not letting your hair air-dry. Kasi, from my experience, kung ano yung kinatuyuan ng buhok mo, yun na yun. You can try drying your hair using a fan. Medyo matagal nga lang esp if you have very thick hair like mine. :disgust: Keep brushing your hair while drying it and nde siya titikwas. :) Another option is blow-drying kaya lang masama din sa hair and scalp pag madalas.

Hope this helps. :)

here are some corny but very effective and very true stuff in looking and feeling good:

1) the only real diet anyone should do is to eat healthily. this means eating moderate amounts of the food you need and not depriving yourself of anything. the key is moderation =) always keep in mind that its not one-time thing, its a lifestyle, so sustainability is key.

2) next, regular exercise is very important. do both cardio and toning. i swim and walk/bike everyday and do pilates at least thrice a week. no time? find time. health should be a priority.

3) if, like me, youre always out under the sun, never forget to apply a good sunblock with a pretty high SPF. i use coppertone sport or bain de soleil kids (so its waterproof)

4) this is the really corny stuff: accept yourself. smile and laugh a lot. be happy with what you got. everyone's beautiful. i agree with what a previous post said, being anorexic and lifeless isnt exactly beautiful, right? =)

good luck and always have fun!

sorry if it turned out quite long and serious, but this is "serious stuff" too right? =)

Here are some new diet rules you can actually live by! Start losing all the weight you ever dreamed of losing!

If you drink a diet soda with a candy bar, the calories in the candy bar are canceled out by the diet soda.

If you fatten everyone else around you, then you look thinner.... So encourage others to eat more... and more often...

Broken Cookie pieces contain no fat - the process of breaking the cookie causes the fat to breakdown before it is actually eaten.

Exception: Cookies sold by Texas D" Lites distributors. Great "Meal Replacement" with little or no fat content, low in calories, lots of fiber, protein, and other nutritional ingredients.

Foods that are frozen have no calories because calories are units of heat. Examples are Ice Cream, Frozen pies and popsicles.

Foods that have the same color have the same number of calories, e.g. spinach and pistachio ice cream; mush- rooms and white chocolate.

Note: Chocolate is a universal color and maybe substituted for any other food color without increasing caloric content.

In food used for medicinal purposes the calories NEVER count, such as hot chocolate, brandy, toast, and Sara Lee Cheesecake.

Movie related foods (Milk Duds, buttered popcorn, Junior Mints, Red Hots, Tootsie Rolls, etc.) do not have additional calories because they are not part of one's personal fuel... merely entertainment.

Things licked off knives and spoons have no calories if you are in the process of preparing something. Examples are peanut butter on a knife when making a sandwich, ice cream on a spoon when making a sundae.

When you eat with someone else, calories don't count if you don't eat more than they do. (see above, encouraging others)

Is your lunch ruining your diet?

Make your midday meal healthy!

By Patricia Curtis for Lifetime

Eating a healthful lunch can be quite a challenge, especially when you're stuck at the office. But according to Tammy Baker, R.D., a spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association, your favorite corner deli treat — the sandwich — can be a delicious and nutritious lunch. "You just have to choose the right ingredients and keep portion sizes realistic."

Baker's portion test: "If you can't fit your mouth around it, your sandwich is meant for two." If your sandwich is overloaded, ask for extra bread and make another meal out of it. Or eat half and take the rest home. And keep in mind that your lunch should be between 500 and 600 calories and that you only need about two ounces of meat for your meal; most deli sandwiches come with five or six ounces. Below, some surprisingly healthful between-the-bread meals that will leave you feeling satisfied without overloading on calories and fat.

Best Spreads
"Most of the time, what you're looking for in a sandwich is moisture, so skip the high-fat dressings and add tomato, lettuce, pickles, or cucumbers instead," says Baker. But if you do want some extra sauce on your sandwich, choose one of these nutritious favorites, and remember — a little goes a long way.
Mustard
Ketchup
Hummus
Tabbouleh
Salsa
Barbecue sauce
Horseradish
Chutney
Worst condiment: Mayonnaise

Instead of turkey and mayo on white bread
Choose roast beef and mustard on wheat
Whenever possible, trade fiber-free white bread for fiber-full wheat. (Fiber helps you feel fuller, longer, says Baker.) When it comes to dressings, skip mayonnaise, which contains 120 calories per tablespoon compared to mustard's mere 11. While turkey is a good choice, it can get boring after awhile. Lean cuts of roast beef can be as low as 60 calories for six slices, and it's a good source of iron, zinc and vitamin B12, nutrients many of us don't get enough of. Plus, any veggies added (lettuce, tomatoes, onions, peppers) boost the nutritional content of your meal.

Best Breads
Go the high-fiber route and look out for cooking techniques. "Bread in itself is not bad for you," says Baker. "But when it's grilled in butter, fried or covered in grease, it becomes unhealthy." These are your best bread bets.
Whole-wheat
Tortillas
Pitas
Hoagie rolls (with the insides hallowed out)
Worst bread: White :ayaw:

Instead of tuna salad on a bagel
Choose lean ham and cheese on black forest bread
This dark bread, available in most grocery stores, is low in fat and very high in fiber, unlike the super-size (and super-fattening) bagel. It's also flavorful, so you don't need to add high-calorie dressings or spreads. "Many women think tuna salad is an excellent choice, but again, the high-calorie mayo ruins it," says Joanne Lichten, R.D., author of "Dining Lean." Ham, however, can be a great choice, weighing in at just 60 calories, compared to tuna salad's 383 — and that doesn't even include the bread! When choosing your cheese, pick one that's low-fat or made from part-skim milk, such as mozzarella. Add a little crunch to this lunch with water chestnuts or jicama, a legume, which are jam-packed with iron, calcium, zinc and copper.

Best Cheeses
"Sharp-tasting cheeses are your best bet, because you need less to get the flavor punch you're looking for," says Mitchell. Some strong but delicious cheese choices:
Feta
Parmesan
Blue cheese
Sharp cheddar
American

Instead of peanut butter and jelly
Choose a grilled vegetable sandwich
According to Orlando, Florida – based nutritionist Susan Mitchell, R.D., peanut butter is 80% fat and just one tablespoon contains a whopping 120 calories! And one tablespoon does not a sandwich make! Jelly, while not high-calorie, does contain a lot of sugar. Plus, you're not getting many nutrients with this lunchtime fave unless you opt for the more unusual combos such as PB&J and bananas, lettuce or pickles. The grilled vegetable sandwich (made up of zucchini, peppers, onions, tomatoes, broccoli), on the other hand, is chock-full of nutrients, including vitamin C, calcium and magnesium, and is very low in calories. Add jalapeos to your sandwich and you'll even pump up your metabolism a notch, helping you to burn more fat, says Baker.

A better body in 30 days

The best advice from diet and exercise pros

The road to a fit, fabulous body isn't short. But if you take one small step a day to improve your diet and workout habits, you may be amazed at how quickly you reach your destination! Read on for 10 tips that will help you get fitter, faster!

1. "There's no question: it can be difficult to drag yourself to the gym when you're feeling beat from head to toe. But if you shirk your workout, you'll never know whether exercise would have energized you. A better strategy: Stick with the 10-minute rule. Force yourself to go out and exercise for at least 10 minutes. If at that point you still feel exhausted, give yourself permission to stop. But in all likelihood, exercise will help you feel better and you'll choose to keep going."
From MSN Shopping by Sarah Ferguson and Weight Watchers

2. "Skipping meals and cutting calories will not improve your body; it will hinder your fat burning. This is especially true for women, who are natural fat storers. The less often you eat, the more likely your body is to hoard fat."
From MSN Shopping: Dr. Scott Connelly's 6-Pack Prescription" by A. Scott Connelly, M.D. and Carol Colman

3. "Your exercise clothing should be something you enjoy putting on. It will cheer you up, give you positive affirmation to take better care of yourself, and put you in the right frame of mind for your workouts….You may be self-conscious at first about revealing your body and choose big T-shirts and other cover-ups. But if you're heavy, it's important to have the kind of clothing that protects skin from rubbing against skin. It may be better to wear clothing that is somewhat form-fitting so that the body folds are covered and protected."
From MSN Shopping: A Unique Workout Program for the Plus-Size Woman" by Rochelle Rice

4. Physical activity: the larger picture:
· Less strenuous activities, when performed for longer periods of time, are just as beneficial as vigorous activities
· All women should get at least 30 minutes of moderate activity a day.
· Brisk walking, recreational swimming, canoeing, vacuuming, and weight training are all good examples of moderate-intensity activity."
From MSN Shopping: A Guide to Preventing Disease" by Susan E. Hankinson, R.N. et al.

5. "Exercise is an important part of any weight-loss program. That doesn't mean you have a to spend hours a day taking aerobics classes. Just get yourself out and start moving. My motto is, 'Be fit, not fanatic.'"
From MSN Shopping by Suzanne Somers

6. "Portions of food in restaurants are often much too large. Don't always finish everything you are served. Consider splitting dishes with fellow diners, taking the excess home, or just leaving it on the plate."

7."Many women work at jobs that require hours of sitting. The more you sit, the more you need to move around. Physical movement pumps oxygen throughout the bloodstream so it can nourish the joints and surrounding soft tissues. Give yourself a much-needed break and stand up, stretch and move around at least every hour throughout the day. You'll feel better -- and your body will function better, too."

8."Use pepper and spices instead [of salt] to give your food that added flavor. Spicy food slows you down: You simply can't wolf down highly seasoned food the way you can wolf down bland dishes. And, by slowing down your pace, you tend to eat less."

9. "Choose stairs over elevators. If there are many flights of stairs where you work, climb one flight of stairs for three weeks; increase the number of flights by one every three weeks. Or walk up and down the stairs in your home three to five extra times each day."

10. "A basic guideline is to exercise at a level that allows you to talk and sweat at the same time. If you can't talk, you're exercising too hard and should slow down, even if you're within your target heart rate (THR). If you are within your THR and can sing or whistle while exercising, you are not working hard enough, so you should increase your exertion to the higher end of the THR scale."

Hi to all! :)

I wanna share this blow-drying tip... eto secret ng lahat ng Miss Venezuela titleholders... I got it from my friend who went to Venezuela last year to train for a pageant...

For a perfect blow-dry, partition your hair into small but equal portions. Use a clip, rubber band or whatever to hold each portion into place. Blow-dry each portion carefully. Don't rush.

So there it is... simple lang siya pero when done correctly, it will give you perfect and desirable results. :)

-- Drink lots of water (avoid sodas and alcoholic beverages)
-- Do not smoke
-- Have enough sleep (a good nap for 10 mins is good whenever you get a chance)
-- Do not eat junk foods
-- Exercise or just be active in a day
-- Eat fruits, veggies, fish and less meat (avoid anything greasy)
-- Drink 2 glasses of water before you go to bed
-- Have at least one cup of tea per day
-- Use sunblock when you go out during the day
-- When you're at home, leave your face totally free from make-up or even powder
-- Wash your face 3x a day with soap and water (use can also use loofa to scrape off dead cells on your skin)
-- Have a nail care at least 3x a week
-- Change your bedding every week ( the dirt/dust on it does affect your skin's condition)
-- Moisturize your face every night to repair dead cells
-- Moisturize your skin during the day, too.
-- Avoid eating too much sweet foods like candies and chocolates
-- Use dental floss and mouth wash after brushing
-- Use conditioner and choose the right shampoo for your hair.
(if you can avoid perming it, do so)
-- As much as possible, do not use handkerchief. Use tissue so that everytime you wipe off the dirt on your face, you can always throw it out.
-- When travelling, make sure you carry with you a small bag with toothbrush, toopaste, soap and a face towel so you can freshen up anytime.

Fashion Tips:
-- Always go for the basics
-- Always have at least one of each in your closet: white and black shirt, denim jacket, black slacks, black basic jacket for formal or semi-formal occassion, black belt, brown belt.
-- Pearl accessories can be matched with formal or casual wear. A pair or pearl earrings is nice to have for denims and shirts. It's so simple. Silvers are nice choices, too.
-- Do not over accessorized nor over dressed.
-- Daytime, use cologne. Nighttime, you can wear your favorite perfume but be careful not to spray on too much. Have a small collection of colognes and perfumes for different occassions but be very sure to wear them at the right time and place.
-- On make-up, have the basics and choose which best fit your skin type and color. Do not put on too much make-up esp during daytime.
-- Have comfy shoes such as sandals and slip ons and still, go for the basic colors. If you can avoid, do not wear high heeled shoes.
-- Have a hair cut that suits your lifestyle, something which is easy to carry and which can be worn anytime of the day. Mostly, straight, untouched or uncolored hair is still much better than anything else.

Sige, I'll think pa...

-- Be happy and keep on smiling. Learn to have a worry-free day.

Yes it doesn't. It's a case to case basis but then it is best that you avoid sweet foods because healthwise, it can cause you diabetes in the future and you wouldn't want that, would you? ;)

do you think effective yung mga beauty tips ni Cory Quirino?

JoYcE`TiK

vaseline
- as mascara
- used to shape eyebrows and keep them in place
- lip balm/lip gloss
- used to heal dry and cracked skin
- for flaky skin, scrub the area then cover with vaseline (this i've got to see)

time savers:
use moisturizer with sunscreen. meron din yung tinted moisturizer na.
use st. ives cleanser and makeup remover. st. ives is sooooo good and cheap.

use a primer or a cream based shadow when applying powder eyeshadow to make it last longer.

to widen eyes, line the inside corners with white/silver/anything bright eye pencil. basta hindi masyadong halata yung color.

eating oatmeal everyday lowers cholesterol. :spiral:

for daytime wear, use eight point guide para hindi exagge. a pair of earrings is one point only. a necklace is one point, a necklace with a pendant is still one point, but a necklace with two pendants is two points. a shirt one point. a pair of jeans is one point, a bag is one point, sunglasses one point.. and so on.
for evening wear, you could get away with 11-13 points.

diet tip:

if you really wanna know what Super Models do for them to maintain being thin but it may take some risk (maybe), try taking Garlic tablets. It works! but I suggest to consult your Physician first before doing so.
My cousin uses this and it works but she went to several doctors first and consulted them about the risk that may occur while taking the said tablet.

Natural is still the best way to get thin and beautiful!

this is not an appetite suprressant but try using hydroxycut. i used it for about three weeks and it worked bcos i lost around 10 lbs. the only side effects are you feel the need to pee every 30 mins. or so and it has caffeine so it perks you up. the latter is not so bad for me bcos i need the energy boost bcos i'm studying and such...i didn't feel so sleepy in the mornings and yun nga lang, i had a hard time sleeping at night. but i think it varies naman...it depends na siguro on the user. anyway, i think you could eat as much as you want but in my case, i went on diet a week before i took hydroxycut to maximize na rin the effect which is duh, weight loss. actually, i was pretty surprised with the pounds i shed off bcos i was expecting around 5-8 lbs. only. i also expected to gain back a couple of them as soon as i stop taking it but thank goodness, hindi pa naman.

as for the cost, i had to shell out 1.4K for the smallest bottle (with around 60-70 capsules) which is relatively inexpensive compared to the other fat burners like xenadrine. xenadrine's the best, i think and hydroxycut follows...but i'm happy na with the results of the latter. if you take it though, as for any weight-loss plan, you have to take lotsa water to prevent dehydration.:) and another tip, go on a diet while taking it and exercise, exercise, exercise...for about 5 times a week even for 30 minutes lang.:)

Beware lang sa diet pills ha. Di natin sure ang long term effects nyan. Consult your doctors first.

I bought this slimming tea in Korean Store in Texas, I started using it and man it works. The brand name is triple leaf brand slimming tea. you can order it by their website, www.tripleleaf-tea.com. It will make you always go to the bathroom. Everytime you eat, in 30 mins. you will need the bathroom. I combined this with exercise, 30 minutes of cross training and I walk for 20 mins. then, steam bath for 15 mins. then I soak myself in jakuzzi for 15 min b4 taking shower. I lost 10 lbs. in 3 days!!!.......

well...no pain, no gain, right?:)

plus, once you get started, it won't seem like a chore. bcos once you start seeing the results, you would really find time to exercise to maximize the good effect of working out. plus it feels good...:)

if you have oily skin, the shade of your powder should be lighter than your foundation. if not oily skin then same shade as your powder and foundation.

The tip here is to have regular excercise.

hi guys! help me naman o! when i go to the malls, even on night outs, i see these women beautifully made up... yung make up nila parang yung mga nakikita ko sa magazines... parang pang model even though they don't look like one. hmn... pano ko ba describe, light lang actually... maputi yung face nila na parang sheer lang yung powder... bright eyes... basta parang ang linis tingnan... flawless ba!

i'm using mac studio fix for a long time now pero di ganun yung effect eh. how do i do that? do i need to use loose powder?

help pls!!!!

Try Lancome light reflecting foundation or powder. Clarins caries it too. My fave is Christian Dior- my face loooks flawless bec. of it

some beauty products i swear by:
St. Ives Apricot Scrub
-this baby is the ultimate bath companion! i use it on my elbows, knees, feet, and other tight areas of my body :D it's also great on blackheads, though i don't use it on my entire face, only on my chin and nose coz sometimes it might aggravate existing zits...

patay.. i use it on my entire face every day pa naman... is this really bad for the skin?
