yo guys,

just wondering.. who invented the THONG? =)

and who finds it comfortable to wear them? i think thong looks great on women.. esp. to those who wear tight slacks or jeans..

i also wonder why some conservative but good looking friends of mine are afraid to wear these.. i told them.. di naman namin makikita anoh.. alangan naman pakita mo diba?!? hehehe.

depends on the wearer's butt size. kung super mega over talaga ang butt niya, then the way the thong would stuck in there would be uncomfortable talaga.

siguro kung medyo tight ang butt, then the fitting would be better.

ako i'm comfortable wearing a thong ...and i am willing to have more. :p

yeah...but still, it IS not a comfortable thing to wear all day....and it's proven to be stressful for the vagina :) not to add the things it can do to worsen UTI problems and other irritations....

thongs should be worn in tight, butt-hugging skirts/pants.....specially if the skirt/pants is colored WHITE.....or CREAM

i so am disgusted by women who go around in their white skirts/pants with their pantylines/wedgies visible for the madlang people

almightyge: i think the CK thongs are better than Marks and Spencer because they're a lot sexier, and they come in different colors and styles (string, lace, etc)

huh? weird...

... ain't it daring or stimulating enough for you?

sexy nga tignan e, kapag suot ng girl ay thongs. besides, if both of you are in a hurry... just pull it aside then go!

:D

i saw an office girl once here in ayala, off-white siyang tight pants na manipis... e, ang bilog ng butt niya. then na-notice ko na naka-thongs pala siya. ayun, natalisod tuloy ako sa kakasunod ng tingin sa kaniya.

It's not quite like a wedgie wherein you have a lot of material bunched up into a smaller space. It's a thin strip of material. After a while, you just forget about it.

And they make specially shaped pantyliners now for thongs.

Calvin Kleins are way much more comfy.

But if you want sumpthin' kinky:D get leather or suede thongs. They come in studded or rivetted in different colours.I own two myself...hehehe...There are crotchless ones too.But the most kinkiest ones are similar to what those Thai prostitutes wear, very see-through at the front with imitation marabou stork feather string.Tapos meron din yung string is made out of lightweight chain (gold or silver):D then yung front is sumpthin' made out carved metal.Talk about weapon.:lol:Parang ang sakit nun.

To answer your question on who exactly invented this marvelous piece of underwear....

When Frederick Mellinger began mass-marketing thong underwear — then known as "scanty panties" — back in August 1981, who knew it would become the fastest-growing segment of the multibillion-dollar women's under-apparel industry and a cultural phenomenon.

The thong — a skimpy panty in front and a thin strap in the back — was just a novelty item back in 1981, something sold alongside crotchless and edible undies. But now we all know about "That thong th thong thong thong," as Sisqo sings.

Of course, the thong existed long before Mellinger revolutionized the underwear industry by mass-marketing it. Some folks would trace its history all the way back to the cavewoman's first loincloth.

Here's a breif timeline on the thong's history highlights:

1939 World's Fair in New York City
Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia decreed that the city's nude dancers cover up a bit. Thus, the G-string was born. And the G-string begot the thong.

1945 French designer Louis Reard unveiled the bikini at a Paris fashion show. It was named after the Bikini Atoll of the Marshall Islands, where some of the first atomic bombs were tested, and since then, it's had a similar effect on men.

1974 Fashion legend Rudi Gernrich married the thong bottom to the bikini top. Gernrich was the man who pioneered unisex fashions. In the disco era, he unveiled clothing that made a woman look nude under the flashing lights of a dance club.

1981 Only the most daring of women took to the beaches in a Gernrich original. But Mellinger, who roamed the world looking for "the next big thing" to introduce to Americans, saw that it was popular in Brazil.

In a stroke of genius, he decided the thong had a future not only as a bikini, but as underwear. Some women may have thought it was sleazy — but not for long.

The infamous Bill Clinton-Monica Lewinsky White House affair began with a steamy thong moment, according to Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr's report. "In the course of flirting with [President Clinton]," the report states, "[Lewinsky] raised her jacket in the back and showed him the straps of her thong underwear."

Thong model and Frederick's of Hollywood spokeswoman Lee Ann Tweeden, 28, says she's proud of her modest role in the underwear revolution. (Frederick's of Hollywood)

Sure, they can be sexy. But many women say they've embraced the thong, sometimes known as "butt floss," in the never-ending quest to hide those visible panty lines. There is, of course, the "wedgie" factor. But what's a little discomfort in the name of looking good?

There's no doubt the everyday woman has embraced the thong. While only the daring don the thong in its beachwear form, as underwear, it has found its way into millions of women's wardrobes. Thong sales have more than doubled since 1997, while sales of regular panties have grown only about 10 percent, according to one fashion research group
