Sad to say, I was not able to study in any of the school because I didn't bring my school record from the states. :shedtears:

Actually when I was still in the province I only have 1 dream school. UST lang yun. Pagdating nung fourthyear Yun gusto ko na sa UP... Actually wala kaming kahanda handa nung UPCAT. In fact hindi nga kami natulog eh. Tapos sa Baguio pa yun. Medyo nagsisisi me pero abot langit naman ang saya ko nung pumasa ako sa UST.
And now that Im here in Manila I realized that there are schools pala na competitive din kahit hindi masyadung kilala...
Pero ito lang talaga ang nilalangit ko!
UP Diliman

Hijo, a friendly advice: Before you belittle people and brag about your being a UPian, brush up first on your grammar and sentence construction--have your COM teachers taught you the basic rules on writing?

So what if I'm an Atenean and you're a UPian? I passed the UPCAT, and FYI, I got BAA. I chose Ateneo because I prefer being educated in a Roman Catholic university. Better be careful with your words, 'coz it seems like your real colors are coming out. You do not only have poor writing skills--your entire persona is problematic in itself.
In case you're simply blinded, hijo, take a look at your previous posts. They are as clumsy and as pathetic as the worst student I can ever think of. mac made the proper observation--you lack finesse. Is that what you've learned so far from your beloved Alma Mater?

By the way, when using an adjective on a superlative degree, you do not use "a" as an article. Instead, use "the". Hence, you say, "Your writing is worse than the clumsiest AMA student." This is so because everytime you use an adjective to the superlative degree, you're actually pertaining to a single noun.

Good point! I'll add that to charlie_g's never-ending list of grammatical and mathematical boo-boos. What a pathetic UPian! I'm sure many UPians are ashamed of being identified with somebody like charlie_g. He's a tad "slow"! A bit Forrest Gumpish! I appreciated your attempt in providing myself little refreshment about language rules. Thanks. My last Communication subject was more than 1.5 years ago when I was still in pre-college at Brent. Unfortunately, there’s an absence of the Communication subject in my curriculum as a Psych major here in UP. Our “black” was assigned to take up Kom instead of the usual Com and I admit I almost flank it. I know I needed extra dexterity for my English writing skill but that should not be in used or interpreted, as you're better than I am. After all, the measurement of intelligence is not solely based on English grammar although I know it refines my attempt to communicate better specially if I am trying to communicate with someone who’s even more deficient than I am. I have known so many Ateneans who speak English so good but they are still “*****”. Everyone in my High School speaks fluent English with speckled accent yet everyone thinks our High School is the greatest in the country or next after Pisay.
Lastly, I don’t believe you were admitted in the BAA program in UP. It is easy to claim such thorny upshot specially if you are not required to show-off proofs. Tama na yong facts that I am in UP while you are just in Ateneo, a school for the UPCAT rejects.
I’ll be gone for a moment to spend the holiday with my family in Edinburgh, Scotland. You may hold back your confutation until my return on the 5th of January 2002. That if you still care.

I got a combined SAT score of 1,340 taken November 1999 at the International School Manila. I got admitted in some leading universities in the US such as the University of Virginia, Emory, Rochester, and the College of William and Mary plus a couple of Ivy League universities such as Brown and Cornell. I enrolled in UP upon the dictates of my parents.
I expect my GMAT within the range of 690 to 750. I don't need the GRE since I don't plan to take up MA or MS.
Sorry, but the more I talk the more you get envious. So then stop competing!

Bwaahahahah:lol: ahha hah hah ahahha!!
More lies!!! 620 TOEFL?!? 1,340 SAT!?!? Are these in pesos or dollars? Medyo inflated yata considering your verbal and math skills as exemplified by your posts. Wawa ka naman. You're not only a chronic liar....you're also getting delirious.
Got admitted in top schools in the USA!?!?! Going to Edinburg, Scotland, to spend the holidays!?!?!?
Lies! Lies! Lies! Just like what you wrote before in two separate threads....in one, you're a graduate of Brent; in another, you're a graduate of Xavier.
For your information, Binondo is not part of Europe and Smokey Mountain is not in the Swiss Alps! :evil_lol:
Yes, I'm allowing you to take a break from PEx. You can hide during the holidays and work on your writing skills. You deserve the break after all the "supalpal" you're getting from me. You need to regroup and start a new life...even a new identity in PEx. I think you should "kill" charlie_g just like what you did to gerry_lim. Charlie_g has become synonymous to the Diliman clown, the "laughing stock" of PEx, the UPian who flunked ACET. You need to develop a new persona.
690 to 750 in GMAT?!?!? I predict you won't get a GMAT score higher than 375. Your only hope would be to get seated next to an Atenean during the GMAT exam....that way, you can copy from him or her. I'm pretty sure you did the same thing when you took the UPCAT -- that is, copy from the person seated next to you.
How I wish you can make it to Harvard so that we can be classmates someday!?! But..alas...that day will never come. I would love to kick your sorry little a$$. You're no match to me when it comes to oral and written analysis and presentations. I've got the looks, the brains, the confidence, the public speaking skillls, and the big bucks! Last but not least, I'm from the Ateneo and you're just a lowly bopol from Balara, in the poor side of the hills of Loyola!:D
Stop the fantasizing about Scotland, Harvard, etc., and go back to cleaning the toilets, charlie_g!

Wow! I never knew UP-Diliman actually accepts gramatically-deficient students like you. FYI, I've taken my last English english subject 3 years ago--when I was still a college freshman. The reasons which you have cited are not valid enough to excuse you from your grammatical lapses. Grammar rules are basic; and anyone who claims to have been admitted or is studying in one of the finest institutions for tertiary education in the Philippines is assumed to be proficient in this area. You claim to have passed several standardized tests--but your writing skills show that your claims are farcical. Brush up on your communication skills before you start fabricating lies; at the very least, try to make yourself sound believable.
Second point, I do not care whether you believe me or not. I know myself, and when I say that I passed the UPCAT, I mean it.
By the way, will you kindly produce evidences that would ascertain the veracity of your claim that you're currently enrolled in UP? If you can't, well then...

lek-lek,
i won't hide it, charlie_g's writing does raise eyebrows. it may be his writing style; composing at the extremes of his conciousness or, he's just in a hurry to post! on the other hand, no one in the pex community will rate a perfect 1.0 in my book when it comes to syntactic precision and elegance (i'm close to it though  ) your above-post contains enough in-elegant sentences and mis-used verbs to prove my point.
my main point, however, is that communication skills are mere tools. the underlying content of the message, its relevance and sound application, count much more. it is the main determinant of intelligence.
i understand you want to take mba in the us. state-side mba's i know often speak of grammar issues over there. being graduates from schools like ust, mapua, admu, up and lasalle, they had a decided advantage over their classmates from japan, thailand, indonesia and the latin americas. by this, they had nothing but english speaking and writing ability in mind. unfortunately for them, their supposed advantages were often nullified by BETTER answers coming from their classmates. one pinoy even begged his japanese seatmate to show him his exam paper. as he explained it, the japanese's grammar was a lot worst than charlie's. and yet, he out-scored my cum laude-friend. reason? the japanese gave better answers.
yes, american teachers often overlook grammatical errors and instead focus on content. whether of not that policy is influenced by second-language factors is beside the point. it's a very mature way of teaching, don't you agree?

No offense to you, but I‘ve read your previous posts having that same mistake. It’s flunk.flunk.flunk.flunk.flunk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you get that correct next time around.
Lek-lek,
You may appear proficient in the English language but I do agree with Charlie_g that lacking in that field won’t disgrace a person. Remember there are a lot of like him in Ateneo.
Charlie_g is true when he said many students in Ateneo speak English with a twang. However listening to that superficial accent irritates me occasionally. Don’t tell me everyone in Ateneo speaks English flawlessly. Mind you, many students got into Ateneo owing solely to their above-average mathematical skills and I am a product to that had I accepted the BS Chemistry with an attached Computer studies.
If you have anything to correct with my grammar, go ahead. Like Charlie_g, I don’t have a Com subject in my syllabus and I’m not feeling inferior because of that absence.
Peace.:)

I agree with you--maybe, knowledge of grammar rules is not a sufficient benchmark to be used in determining people's intellectual capacities. We all have flaws--I myself admit to committing mistakes, after all, human beings aren't infallible. But I think that it is just proper for me to "comment" on his writing skills primarily because he seems to have a very myopic view of the world. When someone has elevated himself too much, he ought to be reminded about groundedness--somebody has to make him realize that as a human being, who's subject to a lot of errors and mistakes, he ought not to belittle people, in anyway.

You're right--content should be given more weight than the skeletal structure itself. But when someone like charlie_g asserts superiority and engages in senseless bashing, something has to be done. He makes it sound like he's a perfect being. But I was just pointing out that much as he has flaws (i.e. grammar lapses), then, he might as well just shut his mouth up if he has nothing sensible to say.
I've mentioned in my previous post that all of us have limitations. We just have to learn how to accept the reality of these limitations and givens in life. One thing that I've learned from my Philosophy classes is that only in accepting these limitations do I get to transcend them. Man is Facticity-Transcendence. Such is not the case, however, with charlie_g.

I forgot to add. First, Harvard has to admit him, which means that -- 1) he has to score high in GMAT, 2) write excellent essays, 3) get good grades in UP, and 4) submit excellent recommendations from his professors.
Ummmmmmmhhh........ Based on these requirements, let me guess what his chances are?!?!?!?
Bwahaha ha hahha hahah
Z E R O PROBABILITY!!!!! The reasons are obvious. :silly:

I thought the main topic of this thread was?
Given a chance, what Philippine School would you want to enter?
Which simply meant, pertaining to students other than those from Philippines.
:shakehead: I can't believe what i've just been reading!?!?!
I came into this thread to read up more on the different schools our country has to offer. And to perhaps decide upon a school I would've like to have gone to if I had decided to study in the Philippines. I being from the states was (and now, after reading many of the posts here) and am very GLAD to have completed my education here! (University of California-Santa Barbara c/o '99 BS. Physiology, now in University of California-San Francisco)
I understand that many of you are highly proud of your schools! And perhaps, UP & Ateneo are rivaling schools, but that does not excuse any of you from all the "bad mouthing/name calling/grammar bashing" of another.
Show your intelligence!!! If you claim you're well educated from your so-called alma mater! Then show it! Refrain from such ignoramus talk!
Now, it makes me deem pinas schools as merely encouraging, "ang pagyayabang ng mga estyudiente nila". Which I think is an unhealthy environment for minds to prosper. I'm sooooo glad I decided otherwise.
