5 AND UP This was the one and only reason why I wake up early on Saturdays. I started watching when I was in Grade 4 or 5 and stopped at 2nd year high school!

My batch of hosts were Atom, Jolly, Enzo, Maxene, Charlie, Oli, Max and Paolo Siyempre like most of the other girl 5 and uppers... crush ko si Atom.

My favorite features are when Enzo visited that Aids victim, Atom went to this boys choir thing and and Max (actually I'm not sure if this is his name) the small cute guy who draws a lot interviewed the guy who did the comic book STONE.

Hehe, ang kapal ng mukha ko, pero shempre 5 and Up, I used to be a 5 and upper eh (that was a long time ago; di ko na naabutan sina Oly). Pero konti lang stories ko kasi I was a nerd pa then and didn't want to be absent from class just to shoot a story. Corny talaga Chikiting Patrol! Kaya nga 5 and Up ang nananalo ng awards eh :D

What can you expect from a Probe Team produced show?
Nothing but the most informative and the best.

Unfortunately, this show is for the A and B class, not intentional I hope.

Rank ni Atom? Ay ewan. All I know is he's taking up Physics ngayon sa Diliman. I sometimes see him and we'd say hi to each other. I know he and Zak have lunch together sometimes. Ang dami ngang nangungulit sa kin na ipakilala ko raw sila kay Atom eh, susko. From our days sa 5 & Up, he was really a nice guy. No hang-ups. I dunno how he is ngayon, but for me he's quite matino. ;)

i think what he/she means is that since the reporters are narrating their story in english, ordinary kids who don't study yet cannot understand what they are talking about. i think this is not true because they also have some reports in which they narrate it in filipino. :D;)

Maybe it's the language maybe it's not.

But 5andUp most of the time lack the mass appeal of the edu-shows in channel 2 for example. It's a thing that I really can't put a finger on pero siguro yung dating.

5andUP is obviously a Tele-Magazine for kids. It is Probe Team for kids. But rarely do you find C and D segments go for Tele-Magazines.

Help me guys. Hmmmm.....

siguro nga you're right, pero meron siyang pagka-educational kasi. some stories in which they feature tackles things in which some people don't know, especially the issue about the ameracians and the thing about the youth drinking and smoking. i respect your point of view. maybe the mass doesn't get to see what the show can give. that's what i think...:)

Hello everyone!

I couldn't help being excited about this thread that suddenly appeared. thanks so much to all of you who continue to watch the show! we are so flattered and grateful! and a former upper posting? hi! how are you? maybe you'd like to visit our website: www.5andup.com

i just wanted to clarify a few things. i hope i don't sound too defensive: :umbrella: yes, in the past, 5 and up was produced in english. talagang ang daming nag-aakala na sosy ang show. we tried hard not to be. the first producers of the show tried to see the world from an eight-year-old's point of view: na puno ng wonder and thirst for exploration. after all, the idea did come from an eight year old!

but we realized we were indeed alienating the important people: those who did not have cable or vcds or vhs players or the internet. these were the kids that needed to see the philippines, the world, learn about alternative activities, and that yes, they could speak up about their right to play.

so the program shifted to Filipino. all segments are done in conversational filipino, and in a manner that kids can relate to (dati, ayaw naming magpakita ng mga batang may hawak ng cell phone, pero LAHAT nga ng bata ngayon gumagamit. that is reality. and we try to be as real as possible.) so i am happy to report that we receive fan mail as far as aparri cagayan and lanao in mindanao! these are from kids who go to public school and discuss our stories in class. these are the kids who propose the stories we produce. and we're glad to say we've met so many of them already, and keep in touch to this day--yung iba college na nga!

yung pagproduce namin ng mga episodes na akala ng iba na di nakaka-relate ang mga tao, is, i think according to a person's opinion. siguro akala nila na hindi appropriate o hindi makakarelate ang tao kasi isolated yung mga storya. di pa nagagawa o napapansin. pero yun nga ang nagmo-motivate sa mga story tellers: to tell a tale that was hitherto unknown. and we're always happy to say that people saw it first on 5 and up.

and i'm glad most of you agree. the comments here form a treasure trove of learning for the producers of the show. please keep em coming! you can email us at info@5andup.com or leave your comments on our website.

let's see...you named some of the more senior prods...i'm thinking, i never did a segment with you. so, i'm guessing, ANYA? :D in that case, i was a production assistant then. but i was able to start producing a few months before you guys graduated. i was able to do stories with alex, carlo, nina. 3 out of the 5 graduates of 1995. so, yes, my guess is you're Anya.
