Here is what I think is the best designed gown na magandang ilaban sa Miss World pageant. This style was created by Jesus "Joji" Lloren and he competed this dress in Paris which earned him 1st prize. This designed gown also is featured in the ninimomo doll creations

Lara_D: During Miss Universe 1995, Miss Spain Maria Reyes Vasquez scored low on all 3 categories, which is why she failed to make it to the Top 10.

During the MU95 Presentation Show...

She got an 8.99 in interview, which ranked 27th overall.

She got an 8.94 in swimsuit, which ranked 9th overall.

She got a 9.21 in evening gown, which ranked 10th overall.

Her composite average is 9.047. She ranked 13th overall among 82 beauties. SAYANG!

So I guess the one on the left is the "very" expensive one ($100,000), and the one on the right is what the winner gets to keep.

The exclusive crown will showcase pearls cultivated by the world-renowned Mikimoto, official jewelry sponsor of the Miss Universe Organization. Miss Teen USA 2002 will be the first to wear the exquisite crown.

The crown is valued at approximately one hundred thousand dollars and will be adorned by 318 diamonds totaling over seven carats and 141 cultured pearls. The pearls are both Japanese Akoya and white South Sea and range in size from 3.0 –13.0mm. Now I know why an adjective to describe Miss Venezuela is "exag"- just look at those gowns!!! I think back in those days they really love to go to the extremes. The gowns are too... how could I put it? Over... ang daming burloloy. I defintiely like the trend nowadays, minimalists but elegant.

18-year old Casandra Polo Berrios of Guaynabo was recently crowned Miss Mundo Puerto Rico 2002. She will compete in Miss World 2002 set for November 30 in Abuja, Nigeria.

The last time Puerto Rico made it in Miss World was way back in 1985, when Iris Matias Gonzales made it to the Top 15 in London, UK.

Beauty wise I'll go for Agbani, but the way she carries herself, it's Mpule.

For me it's Agbani. Too bad she lost her momentum in Miss Universe the moment Denise was named as a semi-finalist. Agbani is was better physically and intellectually. Mpule for me sounded rehearsed, but she's pretty. By the way I think Agbani kinda resembles Naomi Campbell in the L'oreal photo.

My Grand EB Experience Last Night :)

I arrived at the Ortigas area around 7:30 PM last night. I parked sa EDSA Shangri-La Mall carpark since hindi yun napupuno. Tapos I went to nearby Megamall to meet up with angel_voice, BadAssGoddess and orthej. I met them at the Smokin' Cue Restaurant located at the Mega B Strip.

So we walked to Congo Grille na... It was a 5-minute walk. Oh by the way, it was raining pa pala ng konti. Ambon-ambon na lang of some sort.

Tapos we finally made it to the Congo Grille at El Pueblo. Ang dami ng tao. A lot of PExers were crowded over the bar's entrance. We went sa 1st table muna. We were introduced to SoliduS_AlphA-- the EB's organizer. Oks naman siya... Mukhang mabait. Tapos we went inside the air-conditioned part of the bar. We went to the 2nd table and met up with Illusion, k3rwin, HeartBreaker200, Sta|ker, tina11 and name. They were eating na when we got to their table. Tapos we went to the next table... Puro mga taga-Matchmaker's thread na yun. I remember being introduced to DiZyCuPiD... Sorry I forgot the other's nicks. Tapos since it was crowded na inside, we all had to go outside again. We finally found a place beside Hyperion, akira_sendoh07 and bunnygirl_miaka. Ang malas lang namin coz natapat pa sa mismong area namin na yun yung sirang ceiling fan. Kaka-inis nga eh.

We finally ordered our food. I got Kare-Kare and two cups of rice. For my drink, I ordered iced tea lang-- well at least bottomless! As we ate, the_FLY, makenzi, WhItEFox and BabyFATS arrived. Tapos kasunod na nila yung bulk of the PExers that attended last night. Sa dami ay hindi ko na maalala mga nicks nila. Ang saya talaga!

After eating, konting chismisan and kuwentuhan pa with the others. Finally, around 9:30PM, tina11 took pictures of everyone. Ang suwerte ko at napasama ako sa isang group shot na kinuha niya sa table namin. Hehe. Finally, I got to meet up with enchantress. Talk about an overnight makeover! She's now thin as a pencil! Foxy lady! :glee:

Tapos, by 9:45PM, I had to leave na coz sinabayan ko na rin sila BadAssGoddess and orthej coz they had to go home na. But wait! Hindi pa tapos ang kuwento. When we got to EDSA Shangri-La Mall, I got a text from Johnston na he wanted to go to the EB na. He was at his college's Acquaintance Party at the nearby Vincent's Bar eh. It was a 2-minute walk from my parking space. So I met up with him and we headed back to Congo Grille.

When we arrived, medyo kumonti na ang mga tao. Pero andun pa rin sila k3rwin, HeartBreaker200, BabyFATS and Sta|ker... Ang ganda nga ng sounds eh. k3rwin was even dancing!

I again went inside the air-conditioned part of the bar. This time I went back to the Matchmaker thread's table. I was introduced to ericgo. Tapos I again went outside.

We sat beside WhItEFox. Sa wakas naglabas na yung waiters ng industrial fan. Ang sarap ng hangin! It was sooo humid last night coz it rained eh. Minutes later, ushusbie arrived. She came from school pa ha. She had Saturday classes from 6-9:30PM eh. She went inside with akira_sendoh07 to meet up with other PExers.

Tapos we stayed with angel_voice para magkuwentuhan pa. By 10:45PM, k3rwin, HeartBreaker200 and Sta|ker left na. Ang dami na ring nag-alisan after them. Minutes later, I met up with yeee and littleone. A few more minutes later, DiZyCuPiD approached our table and suggested that they all proceed to Porch to continue with the EB. Hindi na ako nakasama since I was already tipsy and dizzy due to the "heat wave" sa loob ng bar. It was scorching hot talaga.

So that's it! So far, the best looking and best dressed PExers last night were:

1. Illusion: What more could I say. Very very elegant and classy as usual!
2. enchantress: Talk about a makeover! She's so foxy and so maporma! Those beads will mesmerize you!
3. tina11: She looks a lot like Miriam Quiambao and Karen Agustin! Pageant material indeed!
4. littleone: A cute, cute girl! Very maporma din! Black is her color!
5. name: Simple yet elegant din!
6. BadAssGoddess: If others were dressed to thrill, Jheng was dressed to kill! Ayos ang get-up niya! Black is also her color!
7. bunnygirl_miaka: She's so cute! Wala akong masabi.
8. makenzi: She reminds me of my beautiful Cebuana friend back in college. She's stunning! Her beauty grows on you.
9. WhItEFox: It's impossible to ignore her. Aside from having a unique and cool fashion sense, she has a pretty pang-TV-commercial face.

Here naman are the super cute PExers last night:

The last time Paraguay sent a very large national costume, was back in 1993 in Mexico City. May pamaypay pa siyang hawak. It was soo big, noong taping ng Parade of Nations, nahulog yung isang part ng tail, when the Mediterranean and African region was about to be introduced. So they have to cut the taping of the Parade of Nations to get the feathers out.

The judges were clearly BLIND. Well, it's a low class and unknown pageant anyway, so who cares? Eva was still a semi-finalist during MU2001... :D

So far she's the only Miss World in recent memory I know that we get to see a little more often (often na to for Miss World), unlike before when we usually see the winner again during the coronation of the new queen.

Lara_D: Thanx for the updates on the Miss Teen USA 2002 pageant. The delegates have arrived in South Padre Island in Texas last week for the upcoming pageant.

I'm not really surprised that you picked Miss Virginia! She's a very strong contender for the crown. On the other hand, a lot of people are skeptical about Miss Tennessee. Since she's black and the outgoing queen Marissa Whitley is also black, a lot have speculated that Donald Trump ain't ready for a "black-to-black" victory in that 20-year old teen pageant. But then, it's really to early to tell. :)

I'm happy with the exposure Agbani is getting right now. I can't recall that kind of publicity being enjoyed by her predecessors.

Like Cathybee said, I really dunno what they're looking for in Miss Teen USA, I'm not that much of a junkie compared to Miss Universe and Miss USA. i don't follow this pageant that much. And come to think of it, come Presentation Night, since these are all teenagers, expected their gowns would be more of ala-prom dresses than pageant gowns.

Hey Jensie; I agree with you too. I thought Gloria Almonte bagged the crown especially when she answered her final answer. It was way better than Marissa and its very obvious that she's prettier. I came to cope up with Ashley Coleman's victory especially after seeing her in MTU last year. I love Virginia in her swimsuit. I think its time for the Old Dominion State to finally bag the Miss Teen USA crown.

Here's a tidbit of interesting information:

On August 19, 1992, Jamie Solinger, Miss Iowa Teen USA, became the tenth Miss Teen USA in the pageant's first-ever pre-recorded event. She, and Angela Logan, Miss Oklahoma Teen USA, were both crowned during an afternoon taping, as Biloxi braced itself for Hurricane Andrew, scheduled to hit the city during the originally scheduled live evening telecast. Although the weather pattern eventually missed the area, the audience and the young women did not learn who the real winner was until the end of the broadcast later that night.

Yeah parents nga ni Victoria Jolly yun. Regarding Miss USA, if Miss USA wins Miss Universe, automatically her first runner up sa Miss USA will continue on with her reign as Miss USA. Actually I don't consider Brandi Sherwood as the only girl who won both Miss Teen USA and USA, because originally she did not win Miss USA talaga eh. She only got the title through default kasi Miss Universe na si Brooke. So I have to see a girl to win both Miss TEEN USA and USA- she's the one that was really proclaimed the winner.

The first photos of the Miss Venezuela 2002 candidates are up. Thursday night was the first official day for the Venezolanas because they gave one of the first minor awards-Miss Sonrisa Colgate Miss Yaracuy won the first minor award.

The bad thing is I can't post the pictures here because the webmaster copyrighted them. And the other bad thing is, I didn't easily recognize my bets because once again their beautiful faces were covered with heaps of make up. And not to mention the Miss Venezuela trademark "bloody red" lipstick. A lot of them looked more like drag queens with those "war paint" on their faces. hehehe After seeing the first photos, here are my bets for Miss Venezuela 2002- Aragua, Barinas, Distrito Capital, Lara (she's the only natural looking), and the huge favorite Nueva Esparta (though I'm quite disappointed because she had tons of make up on).

Regarding Venezuelan representatives

Wow, magaganda nga yung mga Miss Venezuela candidates noong 2001 and kung titingnan mo yung pictures nila side by side, nakakagulat talaga kung bakit si Cynthia ang nanalo. And although a lot of people do not like Cynthia, I, on the other hand, really like her a lot. When she won, and I saw her picture, I liked her because she could pass for an American. I was shocked nga when the make-over pics were released dahil pina-mukha sa akin ni Osmel na Venezuelan si Cynthia.

Another plus factor kasi sa kanya is that I truly believe that she is the only Miss Venezuela that could actually win a Congeniality award. She is so bubbly and amiable. I like her a lot and when she models, everyone can see her superb catwalk skills pero ang kanyang pag-execute is hindi sobrang intimidating. Yung iba kasing Venezuelan reps, sobra silang magpamukha na Venezuelan sila. Laging palaban ang itsura kaya parang villanous ang dating.

The only other Venezuelan I liked before Cynthia was Carolina. She was also not too uptight, although kasi kamukha niya masyado si Minorka, eh, alam naman natin kung ano ang reaction ni Minorka when she was called 2nd RU --- napaka fake ng ngiti at parang hindi niya matanggap. I never really liked Veruska and Marena because the former looks so vicious and the latter looks so dull. I hate Denyse because she looked a lot like a drag queen and Alicia was reported to have big attitude problems.

Claudia naman on the other hand, is not that uptight pero I do not like her official portrait because she looked so stiff, parang unlikely of a Venezuelan rep. And Eva, I really do not like her (ooops! i'm sure many will hate me for this). She is another example of a "typical" Venezuelan who looks like she is always out to conquer the world and looks very competitive. But the one thing I do like about her is her official headshot. When I saw her headshot, I was amazed. As a matter of fact, I would think that her headshot could rival that of Denise's. She looked very natural and fresh.

As for this year's delegates, I really like Yaracuy. I hope she would go far.

Anyway, that's my critique of Venezuelan reps. Here' hoping that Cynthia will shine in Miss International. I think her joining various international pageants lately is a sign that Osmel likes her or is it just me.

Since there are more countries joining this year, and there are some countries who are participating here but have yet to send a delegate to Miss U. What an irony that ONE of the most notable figures in pageanty doesn't have the franchise of Miss Earth? Iba pa rin ang girls ni Osmel, he could even handpick any girl from last year's batch and send her here. That would definitely improve the popularity of the pageant. And not to mention the attention of the masses. They could give the franchise to Osmel on a silver platter pa nga eh. They don't train Miss Venezuelas the way Osmel does.

The very last time Aruba made it in Miss Universe was in 1996, when Taryn Mansell settled for 2nd place overall to Venezuela's Alicia Machado in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Aruba has NEVER won the Miss Universe crown.
