Yeah me to I don't like Latin beauties- the Spanish Latinas I mean. What I like are the Brazillian beauties, iba ang dugong Portuguese. I think they're the ones na true beauties na doesn't need any thing done, unlike their Venezuelan counterpart. Try watching Carnival in Rio sa TV.

And I would really appreciate too it if anyone could post a pic of Jewel Lobaton's national costume in MU98. I wasn't able to see it during the live telecast.

Miss USA 2002 is on March 1, Friday live from the Genesis Center, Gary, Indiana.

For US viewers, CBS will be responsible for the live broadcast of the two-hour event. It usually begins at 9PM Eastern Time.

For Philippine viewers, the event will be showed to local TV sometime on April or even early May just like what RPN 9 did in 2000.

The pageant will be not moved. Tuloy na yan sa March 16. My source has not yet disclosed any specific names of girls who have attended the screenings. Basta all she said is so far this year's batch will be one of the best ever. I, myself, am already excited at this point in time.

Sobrang super rare talaga ng mga pics na yun. Basta I remember Joanne's costume was a clone (sort of) of Charlene's costume. Muslim ang theme at may exaggerated na headress din. Dark maroon with shades of gold and beige ang color. If you would be able to get a copy of Philippine Daily Inquirer dated April 17, 1995, nasa front page yun. That was her press presentation at the Araneta Center shortly before jetting to Windhoek, Namibia.

Joanne is the second tallest Filipina (5'10") who competed in Miss Universe. (You have to correct me on this if I'm wrong.) Kaya bagay na bagay talaga yung national costume niya. Tapos siya pa yung nasa sentro at pinakaharap ng stage nung Parade of Nations during the live telecast.

*By the way, the tallest Bb. Pilipinas Universe is Germelina "Gem" Padilla- 5'11" if my memory serves me right.

I'm interested on seeing those pics kasi sobrang rare talaga. I haven't seen her swimsuit and gown pics. I wanna know what she wore at the MU95 prelims kasi she got a 9.22 sa gown. That's higher than Charlene's prelim gown score in MU94, which is 9.08 lang. Kaya I'm so curious. :)

"Quintas" is only her screen surname. Her real and complete name is Joanne Zapanta Santos.

I agree... it really should have been Aura Zambrano or Lorena Delgado...

But it's only January and the Miss Universe pageant is still 5 months away... Osmel (or whoever is now in charge of the Miss Venezuela Organization) can still do some "magic" to enhance Cynthia. And by the way, those pictures above were taken in September of last year pa. That's like 4 months ago pa and we still haven't seen Cynthia's latest pics.

36 women have already been crowned and are headed to San Juan in May. By looking at their pictures alone, we are assured of a TOUGH competition in MU2002. Hindi magpapatalo ang Venezuela.

The girl you're talking about is Miri Bohadana. Aside from her charm and elegance, she got into the MW95 Top 10 because then Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was gunned down just two weeks before Aishwarya's successor would be crowned.

This strengthens the many claims that the Miss World pageant is indeed a political pageant. It is known for selecting a "politically-correct" Top 10 field every year, to the dismay of most pageant fans worldwide.

A disappointed contender for the title of France's prettiest woman feels she was unfairly disqualified from the Miss France 2002 contest.

Aurelie Brun has demanded that legal experts check whether winner Sylvie Tellier reaches the requisite minimum height of 5 feet 6 inches.

``I want to be sure she's tall enough and I would be surprised if she is,'' said Brun, who was stripped of her crown as a regional beauty queen and subsequently disqualified from the national contest last December.

``I've heard from lots of girls who knew her (Tellier)... and they told me she must only be around 1.68 meters (5 feet 5 inches),'' Brun told the daily France Soir.

The title is no stranger to nasty feuds and gossip. France's leading beauty queen impresario was forced to publicly deny a whirl of rumors in the media last year that Miss France 2001, Elodie Gossuin, had in fact been born a man.

Brun, who falls short of the height requirement herself, seems to be fighting a lost cause to get Tellier to undergo re-measurement.

``It's out of the question,'' Miss France organizer Genevieve de Fontenay told the paper.

Brun was not ruled out of de Fontenay's contest merely for being a bit on the short side. She was also excluded for taking part previously in a rival pageant.

The twins, who turned two-months old last Jan. 5, were the center of attention and attraction, naturally, unwittingly stealing the thunder from their famous parents who didn’t mind being "eclipsed" at all.

The hush-hush affair, successfully kept from the nosey movie press, was a virtual reunion of the same people involved in the fairy-tale wedding of Aga and Charlene last May 28 in Baguio City, from the officiating priests, Bishop Crisostomo A. Yalung and Rev. Armand *****, to the florist (Robert Blancaflor of 1816), the musicians (Tina Pasamba Strings) and even most of the guests, including Lipa City Mayor Vilma Santos who was among Aga and Charlene’s principal sponsors.

"We’re related several times over," joked Aga about Vilma because Aga happens to be a godparent of Vilma and Sen. Ralph Recto’s son Ryan Christian. "Kaya close relatives kaming dalawa ni Vi."

Aga considers 8 his lucky number. The ground-breaking of his mansion in Ayala Alabang was held on Dec. 8 which was also the birthday of his paternal grandmother, Concepcion Amador Fuentes.

Charlene looked as sexy as she used to be before she got pregnant, although she claimed that she had to shed a few more pounds. Besides his parents, Cheng Muhlach and Anita, Aga’s relatives were around and so were those of Charlene, led by her mom, Elvie Gonzalez.

The 16 godparents were Luis Philip "Lucky" Manzano, Albert Reyes, Vince Lauron, Dr. Abraham Pascual, Victor Tan, Ariel Arce, Bong Lopez and Anthony Manlongat; and Alyanna Carmela S. Martinez (daughter of Aga’s cousin Liezl and Albert Martinez), Joyce Bernal, Maribeth Bichara, Angelica Marie P. Ampil, Samantha Sadhwani, Berna Romulo-Puyat, Jerevi Hermogino Hughes and Cheryl Dioniso.

Reception was held at the Alabang Clubhouse.

By that time siguro super polished na ang mga Miss Greece Candidates. But I think a great advantage to her was that Evelina was helped and trained by her friends Miss Greece 1994 Rea Toutounzi and Miss Greece 1998 Dimitra Egeniti. :D

NOPE, Maricar Balagtas ain't joining the Bb. Pilipinas 2002 for 3 main reasons:

1. She won Miss Globe 2001 and is already under an exclusive contract with that Turkey-based pageant.

2. Aside from winning Miss Globe 2001, she is still the reigning Bb. Pilipinas Second Runner-Up 2001 which means she is still under her original Bb. Pilipinas contract that took into effect on March 10, 2001 when she won. Under this contract, she has specific duties and obligations that must be attended to until the contract ends.

Her contract with Bb. Pilipinas will not end on March 16, 2002 even after the new batch of beauties have been crowned. It will end on September 2002 because starting last year, titleholders and runners-up have been awarded an 18-month contract, unlike the previous, traditional 12-month contracts years back.

Pilipinas Pageant.

2. It is not true that Maricar Balagtas is joining this year's Bb. Pilipinas. BPCI bigwigs have strongly encouraged her to try out for the 2003 pageant. She goes to Araneta regularly because she still has an existing contract as a runner-up.

3. This is BPCI staffer and erstwhile spokesperson Boopy Lim's last pageant as an Araneta employee. She is retiring and planning to put up a business by the end of the year.

4. BPCI could not hold the 2002 pageant in November and December because of existing contracts with Disney on Ice as well as concerts of local artists.

5. BPCI has been infusing new blood in BPCI. They have recruited young and dynamic people in their work force to ensure that we will be getting better delegates this year. And a better pageant, we hope.

6. BPCI staffers adore Zorayda Andam, Michelle Reyes and Maricar Balagtas. They are mum when asked about their true feelings about their two other title holders Gilrhea Quinzon and Maricarl Tolosa.

7. According to a BPCI insider, the public will only get to see this year's candidates "officially" four times: The Parade of Beauties, The Charity Day, The Press Presentation and the Coronation Night.

8. Expect many changes in this year's pageant. Although the coronation night will be in March, ALL official delegates will receive rigorous training from a team organized by Madame Stella Marquez de Araneta.

In other words, BPCI promises a more polished set of delegates come coronation night. Let us see if they will deliver.

After acquiring numerous requests I have been getting in my email, I have (finally) made the decision to come out of the shell to authenticize the facts of what really happened to me when I was reinstated back into the contest, and to finally lay this issue at rest. So, here it goes ...

When I was reinstated back into the pageant, I was disappointed to find out that the majority of friends I thought I made were the most disapproving of my reinstatement and showed it through verbal and physical language. They even protested against me coming back among BPCI officials -- those who became my "nanays" and "tatays". (And, I must add that these people shall remain anonymous as promised.) It became obvious to me that these girls wanted to destroy my spirit with the rude ways they would talk to me and treat me. YES, my breasts, hips, and waist were being poked and grabbed at. Yes, my eyes were puffy from crying during the delegates' press presentation because a makeup artist shaved almost all of my eyebrows off, messed up my hair, and applied my makeup on extremely shabbily. Like any other human being, I was hurt and disappointed, and ... just like what any other hurt human being would do on an important day one would like to look presentable at ... I cried. I felt so stressed and alone. No, I don't exactly know all of those who were a part of the game plan (since, I'm sure, not all had the audacity to take part) and which one was the "leader", but it's quite obvious to me as to which ones who were out to destroy me as they were the ones who became very active participants in the plan.

First, to set this clear, Gemma Heaton is a very good friend of mine ... even throughout the contest. She's the one who helped me single out which ladies to stay away from. (Thank you Gemma! Love ya!) The "active" ladies who either poked my breasts, grabbed me everywhere, and talked sh*t about me were: Aline Ramirez, Maricar Balagtas, Maricarl Tolosa, and Sosha Benito. And other ladies who might have been a part of it were Romina Calizo, and Darlene (the one from NY; forgot the last name) -- since I have seen them various times huddled in the "destroy Fandino" group, whispering amongst each other while looking at me. As for the rest of the girls, they have probably decided to stay neutral. I have only made 3 friends who I can say were "true" (Gemma H., Jeremie Antiporda, and Joan Dimaliuat.).

This experience was very traumatic for me. I try to remind myself constantly to be positive about the whole thing since things are meant to happen for a reason, but even though it's helped me become stronger in various ways, it never fails to skip me to remember how deeply hurt I was, and how rude people can get when it comes to destroying one's dreams. This issue was not a matter of winning a crown or not anymore (since I knew having a chance for the crown became slim due to the controversy), for me ... it became a matter of respect, hospitality, comradery, and class (that we filipinos have overall become noted for) that I didn't receive from the girls. Like anybody else, I would want to be treated with the same respect I project among other people.

I hope I have explained everything all of you wanted to know. Thank you all for your time and patience. So sorry it took sooo long for me to respond ... this has been a very sensitive issue for me.

Nope, I don't know her personally but I've seen her up close twice last month at the Glorietta Food Choices. Sobrang payat na siya and all I could say is she can carry herself real well. :)

Long pa rin ang hair niya parang hair ni Nina Ricci when she won. I really have this strong feeling na she's joining again. I hope I'm correct.
