I can only think of three schools...San Beda, Mapua and Benilde. All the other schools are too violent for the UAAP.

I believe CSB deserves to be in The UAAP but they're not yet a university which makes it impossible. As for San Beda yes I won't mind seeing them there but they're also a college and all boys pa sila. For Mapua I can't speak about it.

I think I have to agree with raffyp. Benilde can't be in UAAP because it's not very nice to see sister schools fighting over one trophy. It's mababaw. Trust me, it's very hard. Actually, we had a game with them just the other day eh. Kinda weird. :) But anyway, ANIMO BENILDE! :)

I thank you for supporting my school CSB. But it wont be a conflict of interests di ba if sister schools meet? Anyway, Benilde plays, cheers and work hard like La Salle people do rin naman, I just hope we reach the Final Four in the NCAA. Thanks and more power to La Salle. ANIMO LA SALLE!

Hmmmm... nice topic basho, I just hope no one will start anything bad about Benilde again... :) Anyway, I do think we could be in UAAP, but I don't think we'd want to do that simply because, we don't want a rivalry between the DLSU and CSB Students. It's just too much to handle, di ba ?
Thanks for supporting CSB, manskey, raffyp, viemann, and Blazer21. :) Animo Benilde :)

jfhii:
DLSU-College of Saint Benilde is really a part of De La Salle University just like your new School of Fine Arts or Ateneo Professional Schools which is a part of Ateneo or the Asian Institute of Tourism which is a part of UP-Diliman.
Its just that it is financially independent from the Mother School - De La Salle University and thus is separately incorporated under the SEC.
De La Salle University Manila established the DLSU-College of Saint Benilde in 1988 to offer certain innovative and arts-related courses like Hotel & Restaurant Mgt., Culinary Arts & Multi-Media Arts - courses NOT offered in the Main Campus.
It has the same President - Brother Rolando Dizon FSC who is also the President of the schools under the De La Salle University System and the same Central Board of Trustees that govern all De La Salle University System schools' policies and decisions.
In fact it was De La Salle University Manila which requested the NCAA in 1998 to admit the DLSU-College of Saint Benilde in its seniors division and La Salle Greenhills in its juniors division starting in the schoolyear 1998-99.
So in the UAAP - I support DLSU in the varsity division and DLSZ in the juniors.
While in the NCAA - I support DLSU-CSB and of course LSGH in the juniors.

DLSU argued in the case of Limpot and Cardel that CSB was part of DLSU. That really looks crazy from all angles.
DLSU should transfer some players to CSB. The guard line-up is overloaded. Next, Kong should have transferred to CSB and not Letran. I guess Favis was really the big influence.

Kong should have transferred to CSB and not Letran. I guess Favis was really the big influence.Of course Binky is a big influence. Mark's his player in high school. He must be a good coach to Kong, too, else how could the boy resist the perks of an Archer?
UST is barbaric enough to be a candidate for the NCAATsk, tsk. All schools (even yours, I bet) have intensely emotional supporters -- whether in the UAAP, NCAA, NCRAA, CAAA, etc.

Well of course as usual, siyempre ipagsisiksikan naman ang Benilde. Kung sa NCAA, nangungulelat ang CSB. What else will be new, nothing but whipping boys and cellar dwellers. At least some member schools of the NCAA are legit like MIT SBC and UPHR, but CSB, you gotta be dreaming!!! Wake up and face reality!!!

Leftwinger, if you have watched NC recently, Benilde would have gone farther if not for the "banning" of Gatumbato for some strange eligibility reason. Also, if he chose to play for Benilde maybe they've gone someplace now.
But at least, they're winning.

Fit for the UAAP?
How dare you UAAP people even think that NCAA schools would be willing to join your lame league! The intensity of games in the NCAA will never be matched in the UAAP. You people have this strange notion that the UAAP is superior to the NCAA. Sorry kids, but the talent is in the oldest league in the Philippines. The thing is your loser schools could not handle the violence during their stay in the NCAA. This includes LaSalle, Ateneo, UP and UST. Well at least NCAA fans are not so pretentious that they have to remain in their seats while watching a frigging game. UAAP people you act like a basketball game has some sort of decorum or etiquette. The great rivalries were born in the NCAA not in the UAAP and so were the greatest athletes in the Philippines. I guess the reason why you UAAP people feel you're so much better than NC schools is that the elitist schools belong to the UAAP. Well who gives a flying fig! Collegiate sports is not about the money inside the students' pockets. As far as I'm concerned it's only Benilde who is trying hard to be at par with her UAAP counterpart. The Blazers haven't proven anything in the NCAA. And don't even try that Gatumbato sh_t! He got banned because he played for the PBL even when he did not finish his three-year residency in the NCAA. That's a clear violation of NCAA regulations. At least the NCAA honors rules unlike in the UAAP, where coaches and teams bribe the referees or buy players. You want more facts and figures pitting the NCAA and UAAP, try counting the number of Olympians coming from either league. Nothing personal, but real, no-nonsense athletics needs athletes and not rich, pretty boys trying to play out their playground fantasies. You UAAP people will never understand why the NCAA fans are so rowdy. I guess it's your sheltered lifestyle. Perhaps that's why your players can't hack it in the PBA.

sorry ramirez..
but since when does a basketball GAME
necessitate violence?
yes..that's how it was in the 70's...
but not just in the nc's...but in all
aspects of filipino life..martial law..
riots..it was violent just being in school!
and if the nc's dominate..
why then did it take Letran over twenty
years to break the record for most
titles won?..especially since the school
that held the record left over twenty
years ago..

Tsk tsk tsk...
CSB didn't have a great debut back in 98 and never had a chance to fly higher in 99 but I feel confident for them with NCAA Rookie of the Year Sunday Salvacion this year. I guess, the topic really suggests that UAAP is superior, sad to say I had to agree with certain parts with Ramirez. The violence, I cannot stand especially the JRC-San Sebastian game. Everybody in the NCAA feels the pain when somebody says that "mabuti pa UAAP, disente ang mga crowd kaysa NCAA", I guess it was a tactless remark by people with sheltered lives.
And yes, CSB like Mapua and SBC try hard to make the games clean din, but its unfair to our sister NC schools PCU and UPHR, they too excel in sports and not in bench clearing (i may be wrong but I do believe that they exemplify people with higher learning) except for Letran who seems to start the cussings (I asked cheering squads from other NC schools). Not to belittle Letran, they pride themselves a lot with their championship rings and reckless remarks and JRC and San Sebastian who have been feuding schools even before CSB was born. No, they are not bitter rivals, they were merely drawn to the drama that unfolded in their championship games. Everybody makes mistakes (even Ateneo and UST from last year). Make it what you want, but I do believe that NCAA is at par with the UAAP, even without the glamour and to suggest that CSB move to UAAP is a noble and honest opinion to improve our status but I believe WE can make the NCAA move to that state of order and tranquility that UAAP people claim that our league needs in the first place.
It's true, DLSU helped CSB in getting in NCAA, and trust me, it wasn't easy. CSB still feels the heat from other schools (siyempre, tingin elitista din sa amin) and it shows. Blame it on the thin crowd watching (ayaw kasi sa mga gulo mga benildean tapos may mga DO pang killjoy habang nanonood) and blame it on the lame management of the NCAA committee, we do get competitive (like physical), sadyang marami pa ring narrow-minded, and I'm dissappointed with other narrow-minded people from the UAAP too.
I thank you anyway for suggesting us as candidates for UAAP. And we also have pride for CSB, I think La Salle can handle UAAP alone, but when the time comes for CSB to step up to the UAAP, that might be the time when the NCAA burns to the ground with the rest of us. Don't count us out lang. Like Karen Carpenter said(minus the anorexia): "It only just begun"

SBC would fit in nicely into the UAAP. They arguably have the best gradeschool and highschool grassroots basketball program, that only Ateneo and Mapua can match. This explains why through the years many players who have made a mark in the UAAP and eventually the PBA came from SBC Highschool. Maybe when the time comes that SBC gets to join the UAAP will Lasalle and UP finally stop raiding SBC Highschool for top calibre players. Its quite lucky for Ateneo that they were able to snatch Magnum first. I wonder if Ritualo would have stayed with SBC if it was a member of the UAAP. But then again the grass is always greener on the other side.

As for CSB, dont count on it, with their present line-up they probably wont even get pass NU and Adamson, much less UST, Ateneo and sister school Lasalle. And even if they were able to join the UAAP, they wouldnt be able to field in a competitive line-up considering their "sister" Lasalle will always have the first crack in recruiting top players from around the Philippines, and from the United States which explains why they only have 1 or 2 homegrown players from DLSZ and LSGH in their line-up.

Jul 17, 2000, 10:31 AM
During a tune up game in the summer CSB defeated its sister school DLSU-Manila by 10 or so points and during a another tune up game against dlsu again a week before the opening of the uaap dlsu defeated csb by only 3 pts. In practice game against the Laguna Lakers of the MBA last march csb lost to the lakers by a very small margin, if i recall correctly the margin was only 1 pt. lets all remember that laguna is a professional team! What's your basis for saying CSB cant get past adamson or NU when they even defeated DSLU-Manila with their's and DLSU's current line-up? CSB is really a competetive team especially now with new coach dong vergerie.

Someday, Lasalle would be crowned UAAP champions and CSB as the NCAA champions too. Can you picture a McDonald's battle of champions with either side of the crowd chanting same cheers? Weird isn't it? Now, imagine CSB in the UAAP fighting its own sister school, weirder ain't it?
I think it's better if Benilde sticks to the NCAA while sister La Salle wrecks havoc in the UAAP. San Beda can leave the NCAA (too much ballbusting by the Letranites I guess) for the UAAP because they are rich in tradition and talent. Again, many thanks to those who believed that Benilde can be good in the UAAP, and for those who don't believe, watch us when we rise in the NCAA soon. We may not have a sports program that's as good as Lasalle but we can manage.

I would have to agree that San Beda should transfer to the UAAP. Benilde can't transfer 'coz it wouldn't be nice to see a rivalry with DLSU. I'll also cheer for him, since he's a close friend. Hindi ko naman pinagpapalit and CSB sa SBC eh. Benilde pa rin. That's it, noh! Walang taksil taksil dun :) ANIMO BENILDE :)

Brutal ang laro sa NCAA kaya kapag inilipat mo ang San Beda sa UAAP... ma-"culture shock" sila sa galing ng Bedan players (not to mention ang gay culture-AAAY! Gay POWAAH!)
I would say that Benilde should be in the UAAP. Pare-pareho sila ng attitude, kung iyun din lang ang pag-uusapan. Pero kung ang San Beda? I don't think so - the strength of the lion is too intense for the others to handle!
And I'm from La Salle.
I'm talking about Junior Players! Ang galing nila.
Senior? Pa-gwapuhan, baka manalo pa kahit paano. Sa laro? Siiigurooo! Hehehe. Ang pogi nila! Kras ko sila.

Well sorry to say but San Beda can never be as strong as it should be. As long as Lasalle and UP keep on raiding San Beda High for players, their senior team would be nothing more but a bunch of "leftovers" "na-nagappilian na" because all their junior superstars like, Ren-ren Ritualo and Tyrone Bautista and even the Pumarens from before pa have been lured by Lasalle while the likes of Bravo, Nunag, Almeda, Ferrer, Jomalesa, Racho, Paras, Magsanoc have been lured by UP. Last year, Magnum Membrere was relentlessly pursued by Lasalle, but still decided to go to Ateneo instead, citing Ateneo's better academic programs. I wont even be surprised if San Beda's present resident scorer, Tenorio is being offered a juicy contract by Lasalle this very moment.

Wow, you're really good at doing this, aren't you. Meron bang subject in Ateneo teaching you how to think as if you are such rare breeds? Kapag wala sa Ateneo, it's either di pumasa sa ACET or binayaran ng ibang school. Kapag nasa Ateneo, he chose it because of "better academic programs."
One suggestion: Keep your head high, but not too high at baka mauntog ka.

hey hey.. :)
the topic is which NCAA schools have an attitude fit for UAAP..
eh kung "attitude" paguusapan e syempre benilde :)..yes its true, benilde has yet to prove itself sa ncaa..i think benilde is trying in terms of improving the quality of their game..siguro player recruitment is not as agrressive as lasalle pero i can safely say that at par naman with lasalle yung spirit and determination ng benilde to succeed sa basketball..
pero since "attitude" ang pinaguusapan talgang benilde will qualify for the uaap..
kasi pansin ko sa uaap, kahit gaano kathrilling yung game, meron pa rin namementain na semblance of decorum..one will really see this during a lasalle-ateneo game..kahit sobrang competition, walang over na bastusan nangyayari..may it be between players or the crowd..
sa pba, may instances na nagkakabatuhan yung crowd, may mga gay fans na umeeksena during breaks, pero kahit paano masesense mo talaga na may sense of proffessionalism even amongst the crowd..kantyawan to death sa pba pero hanggang dun lang..in fact pag may natumba or nainjure na pba player during a game, u can sense that even yung hindi fans nung player or the team of that player, commiserate with the injured party..syempre alam ng manunuod na katawan ang puhunan ng bawat player esp sa pba..
pero sa ncaa medyo matindi..
this explains why benildeans think twice before watching an ncaa game..kasi some schools really get brutal and insulting..parang walang breeding..kahit tapos na yung game e nanghaharass pa yung iba..even outside rizal or ninoy or kung san man yung venue ng game..
siguro nakakaculture shock kasi "shelterd" kami..pero u dont need to come from a well-off background to learn the essentials of breeding, ethics, values and the like..
basketball is a physical game, i must admit..but it does not necessarily have to be a venue to vent out unwarranted agrression..and this goes for both the players and the audience..
i mean diba nung kids tayo our parents told us that mas essential yung how u played the game more than winning? :)
that's why for the life of me, i will never get why merong dumura sa player ng benilde nung csb-sbc game..what was that?
no offense to the bedans (in fact my dad is a bedan)..i like the people from beda..in fact a bedan varsity player courted me before..and he was really cute and very much a genetleman (walang sinabi yung crush mo khakiskirt :))..sayang may bf na ako when the bedan courted me :(
i just dont really get why calimag had to spit..its so..barbaric..
anyways... :)
p.s. fyi, alot of pba teams are eyeing benilde players..seriously..the names of salvacion, lapinid, menor, tolentino are being talked about in pba circles..

Probably I would agree DLSU to compete in the UAAP games and CSB to compete in the NCAA games. Because of what i'ved observed, only the La Sallian Legacy has 2 teams-La Salle Green Archers and Benilde Blazers to compete in the UAAP and NCAA games respectively. While other Universities only have the UAAP while other colleges only have the NCAA.

I think no team from the ncaa deserves to be in the UAAP because the UAAP is a league much more higher than the NCAA, and I think that the schools in the NCAA are so barbaric that they'll just destroy the name of the UAAP http://www.pinoyexchange.com/evil.gif
But I think UST deserves to be kicked out of the UAAP and instead be transfered to the NCAA where they belong!!!

halu :)
hey khakiskirt :) sige na nga di mo sya crush...friend mo lang sya :)...showbiz!! :)
anyways, im sure everyone knows about benilde's 3 game losing streak and im sure meron na namang magrereact..
i just want to point out(sige na nga biased ako..justifiable naman e)that although benilde has lost in the last 3 games, people should take note that benilde has lost by only 2-3 points..in fact sa game with jrc(which is touted as a very strong contender for the ncaa crown)benilde was leading kaya lang sa huli crucial mistakes were made..
so this is in fact better than last year's scenario, dont u think ,benildeans? :)
i was going thru some of the old replies in this thread and i read something that someone said aabout ncaa teams not being able to hack it in the uaap kasi mas superior ang uaap...
ano kaya kung pinagsama-sama laht ng collegiate teams? i wonder who will make it...wouldnt it be ironic if an ncaa collegiate team makes it as number 1! :)
i guess my point is, although it is hard not to compare both the uaap and the ncaa, may sari-sariling good points and bad points yan...
the most important thing is that both the ncaa and uaap should be venues to foster teamwork, determination, excellence, innovation, and school pride..
yun lang.. :)

I believe that the BLAZERS are strong, its just that when its nearing the end of the game, and the BLAZERS are on the lead, they feel at ease and feel that they will win this game, thus, giving the opponents a miracle to win againts the Blazers.

CSB is not barbaric!!! Try watching d NCAA please. Your opinion is tasteless and has no basis whatsoever about such acts committed by our basketball team and crowd! Other schools do it but you don't have to generalize! Speaking of barbaric acts, why not throw along UE and Ateneo on our side too? Huwag na lang, masira pa lalo pangalan ng NCAA! If you think UAAP is above when it comes to proper decorum, better think again before you become judgemental! http://www.pinoyexchange.com/smokin.gif

We all know where the talent is.
