I kind of didn't like Holden. I don't get him. But I found his comment about wanting to be a "catcher in the rye" intriguing. The book I loved best so far is "One Hundred Years of Solitude". It's sad, it's funny, there's sex, there's music. There is everything and more in this book. Best of all there is magic!

i liked Spring Moon by Bette Bao Lord and A Hundred Secret Senses by Amy Tan. They're both Chinese stories and it's not like i'm really into stories set in China or something, but these two books were really, really good that you just have to check them out. ;)

Sophie's World?
........I don't know if it's the best book I've ever read, but "Still Life With Woodpecker" by Tom Robbins is a lovely, lovely book.

Definitely The Catcher in the Rye.
If you're considering going into medicine, though, I suggest you first read Erich Segal's Doctors.
