(Been there enough times to know where it is, but not give you directions. Fortunately, another PeXer who I helped out before gave his account.)

From the Tagaytay Rotonda, head towards Nasugbu, Batangas.

Calaruega is way past Taal Vista, Residence Inn, Tagaytay Royale, and Buck Estate (where Sonya's Garden can be found).

There will be a "Welcome to Nasugbu" sign then a San Miguel Training facility to the left.

Calaruega Retreat House / Chapel can be found where Evercrest country club / hotel and golf course is. Go past the club and follow the signs.

It's a really, really nice place for a retreat or an intimate wedding. Picturesque.

From what I've been reading on PeX, though, it's becoming quite popular / well-known.

Good luck!

i have been to calaruega sobrang tagal na. the place was so beautiful then. my barkada and i even made a pact to go back after 10 years. there even cam a time, that parang nagligwan lahat nung mga kasama ko. i believe it was sunset then and guys where with their nililigawan. i was with my bf at that time. sobrang romantic yung place.

as i have said, sobrang heaven yung place. it is a very nice place to get in touch with you inner self, to find out what really is important.

well in my case yup been there and its a nice place...we spent our recolection days there back in senior year....yup ganda and hella flowerz..i guess its in tagaytay and there and we stayed at a dominican retreat house i guess..retreat i mean...the chapel is just small but very warm bec. its beautyful....the driffed wood table for the priest at the front and varnished classic driffed wood row chairs for churches is talga tight...the bloomy garden and the view will hella atract you..,..i suggest that its a place that you can unwind....real cool.. :socool:

There's a minimal 'entrance fee' of P10 -- but I guess that's just to help with the upkeep of the place, and to keep out just anyone who'd want to bum around the place.

Why not drop by Sonya's Garden na rin?

Pwede rin. Don't you need to make reservations for Sonya's Garden though? Oh well. I'm sure these Tagaytay activities can be worked out.

Excited na ako!

You don't have to eat there -- you can just go there to admire the garden and maybe take pictures.

You can always eat piping hot, fresh bulalo and fried tawilis at any of the places overlooking Taal.

Hey Calaruega!

Hi guys... is it too late to join this outing / EB? I've been to Calaruega once, and would love to go back. We have a van we could use, and I have a map of Laguna / Batangas.

I'm pretty much free on weekends. :)

BUMP!

Well, the EB never pushed through  but I was FINALLY able to visit this place a few weeks ago.

I was in awe. It's perfect for intimate weddings and for those who like lots of greens and flowers.

I wouldn't recommend the Transfiguration Chapel to everyone though...different strokes, for different folks! If you're the type who's into small, solemn weddings, I think this will be terrific for you.

*okay*

Nice place, though I wouldn't recommend it for serious retreats or recollections. There's just too many people going about (kasi nga open to visitors siya)...it's hard to be alone with your thoughts kung bigla na lang may susulpot na nagliligawan behind the bushes, hehehe. (no offense sa mga nagliligawan, heheh).

 Correct! Slightly OT: The best place to have retreats is really in a closed area, like the Cenacle Retreat House. *okay*

been there!!! it was our school retreat actually.. cool place and spooky (so many ghost stories after we left, kktakot!). the view is so overwhelming (trust me!)..

caleruega is a part of the batangas and tagaytay area.. so u should be taking the road towards tagaytay.. there are road signs along the way so you won't get lost..

awesome view.. big dogs in the vicinity.. and warm people..
tell me when u get there.. i'm sure it'll be so much fun!!!

the best place to have your retreat....

we always have our annual retreat there for the past four years and di talaga nakakasawa!

it is owned by the Dominicans (UST, Letran, Aquinas, etc.)

the place is in (Batulao) Nasugbu, Batangas. it is advisable to bring your own car since it's kinda far from the highway!

Enjoy!
