View Full Version : What ARE your top 5 FAVORITE countries? WHY?

Finnbjornsson

Here's a thread where you guys can post and explain why you say they're favorite!

My Top 5 personal favorites are:

1. JAPAN- I love everything about this country. From the people (their so kind and respectful), to the food (very mouth-watering and healthy). Plus, I love Tokyo and Okinawa. Their the best places to be any time of the year! TECHNOLOGY and the Japanese WORK ETHIC sums up the MAIN reason why I love this country!!

2. SWEDEN- This country is kind of new in my list. First of all, I love the people in this country. Contrasting with it's cold (snowy) climate, the people are very warm. The Swedes have definately earned their respect and hospitality. They're very open to people of different color as well (considering the fact that this country is very HOMOGENEOUS)!

3. AUSTRALIA- The Land Down under! Australia has been one of my all-time favorite countries. I like the climate (similar to California), that's if you're in Sydney. The people are very global and FRIENDLY. Discrimination is rare in this country as well, despite the considerable amount of immigrants every day!

4. FRANCE- Vive la France! This country is the bomb. You wouldn't wanna visit this country without a camera or something. I mean, there's just way too much stuff to see in this country (especially in Paris and in Versailles). I might be visiting this country really soon (hopefully after I graduate from high school in June 02') Check out the cafes around Paris (they're the BEST in the world. Take advantage of your time in this wonderful country. TRY THIS: Stand right in the middle of a park or in any part of Paris, and just REFLECT! Try to savor the atmosphere and enjoy the surroundings. Smell the air and all that, listen to the noise around you and try to mentally record these. It'll be a good souvenir!

5. ICELAND- I've never been to this country yet and it's pretty new in my list, however, I have a feeling that this country might be one that I'm gonna enjoy when I visit in the near future! They say that the people are one of the most hospitable in the world. Again, they're less discriminating despite it's extremely homogeneous society (roughly 98% blond hair, blue eyed) towards people of color. Imagine the pretty girls in this country!? hehe. Almost all become models at least once in their lifetime. Cool huh?

Saying that Venezuela has drop-dead, ultra-gorgeous people is funny. Go there and you will see.

California -- goin snowboardin down at Mammoth or Bigbear.. ganda kasi.. and the beaches.. Long Beach Venice and Sta Monica.. Orange County sa Anaheim coz my besfren lives there :)

New Orleans -- luv the old bldgs, and nice southern houses.. St.Louis Cathedral , old cemeteries esp Mari Laveux's grave ( supposedly the Voodoo Queen) :p

Belize (central america) go to Ambergris Caye in San Pedro ...crystal blue clear waters... nice reefs for diving or snorkelling.. weather is perfect between the months of May to Sept.. don't go out there when Hurricane season comes in late Sept to Nov.. its one of the best place to go in the Carribean.. go parasailing , kayaking or hydro boarding.. not too much waves juz to surf though..

1. AUSTRALIA
I agree with Finnbjornsson 100%! I just moved to Sydney last May and everyone is so friendly. There's lots of races and nationalities living and working together. Most of them do not give a damn about your nationality so long as you are working hard and not causing any disturbance. The air is clean, the weather's great and somehow, a sense of orderliness.

2. NEW ZEALAND (particularly Wellington and Dunedin)
- great outdoor living with modernity at hand

3. JAPAN
- nature at it's best with friendly Japanese (from my experience at least)

4. PHILIPPINES
- kahit anung mangyari, iba pa rin ang Pinas!

5. THAILAND
-rich cultures, exotic destinations, the golden buddhas and DURIAN hehe

It's just so typical of people to shoot someone else down as soon as possible just for the heck of it. Typical and immature. If the world had one absolute truth, then we wouldn't have these interesting discussions. :uh:

back to the subject:

Italy: Most vibrant country I've been to. Nothing beats it. Beautiful place, warm and gorgeous people, vibrant energy, wonderful history, unbelievable food....what can I say? Belissima Roma!

U.S.A: Lots of childhood memories :bashful:

France: 2nd best European country I've been too, especially the south of France!

I only have top 3 countries I love a lot.....maybe I'll include Thailand because my crush works there and they have the most amazing sea food dishes and sauces.

1. NORWAY - The first european country I visited, A stark contrast from the opulence you would see in France or any of the other European Countries, Here you would see houses with simple architecture .... People in Norway are very friendly, racism is not an issue here.... Prices of goods are very high in Norway ... It is also the home of the Midnight Sun, of stunning fjords and of beautiful blonde blue eyed blondes :-)

2. MONACO - A very charming, picture perfect Country... every view is worthy of being in a post card or in a magazine. Another country where everything is High Priced. Not a good choice to stay here, so its better to live in Nice and from there go to Monaco.

3. NETHERLANDS - A very lively country, a very nice to shop and the people know how to speak english very well, very friendly people too.

4. SPAIN - The mother Country of the PHILIPPINES, wonderful architecture, fantastic Museums, friendly people, not so expensive prices ... and most of all its easy to understand what the people are saying.

5. NEW ZEALAND - A clean and green country, Delicious Steaks!! lots of Cows, Sheeps, Opposums and trees... Nature everywhere... a place ideal for retirement.

syempre number one, pinas. theres nothing not to like about our country (yes, that includes the pollution, the traffic and the people who make welga over the smallest and most trivial of issues. i like them all still). lahat kasi nung mga nega, nadra-drown nung hospitality of the pinoys, and the food.

usa-nuff said

thailand-i havent been here. but my mom and titas only have good things to say about this place. aside from the fact that this nation (daw) is teeming with south east asias most good looking guys, eh there are also super nice places to go to like phuket and bangkok. the food raw is very good ren, parang a close cousin nang filipino dishes.

britain-havent been here too, but the place is so full of culture. im a sucker for king and queen stories kasi. i would want to visit all the palaces and places of royalty in the area (and try to kidnap and rape the princey in the process too).

afghanistan-nicest people in the planet, id wanna go there, as in now. feeling ko super enjoy meeh there. :bonkself::bonkself::bonkself:

seriously.....

spain-when i came here i was like, dang, this is the philippines minus all the things i mentioned above about the pinas. the food is just absolutely to die for. but i think the thing that interests me the most is the fact that we are so much what we are today because of what they are. so the two weeks that i stayed there, the thing i emphasized on exploring was the culture (as in the historic sites and museums, as in jose rizal even has a street, and a statue there,) and the language (and the boyssss, hihihi, :glee::bop: )

US - I'm so into Hollywood. I love the fact that my aunt's house is just minutes away from Hollywood. I get to see actors and actresses in Los Angeles. And also, my cousin works for Vanity Fair so whenever we're in New York, she lets me into her office and there are a lot of memorabilias there from the stars. And if I get lucky enough, I also get to meet those famous people she has interviews with on that day.

SPAIN - it reminds me of the Philippines but the boys are cuter here.

ENGLAND - nice climate.

ITALY - culture at its best.

FRANCE - I get to practice my French here kasi eh. Hehe!

*okay*

Italy. Rome. Civilization. Still want to visit Venice and do the gondola bit. Also see Pisa.

Spain. Such a thrill watching the bullfight in Sevilla.

Thailand. Simply pleasant people. Sige na nga, enjoy ang mga bars doon.

US. Always bitin with shopping. Love the amusement parks.

Greece- the scenery is breath-taking, especially the Cyclades. Whenever you see a postcard from Greece, 9 out of 10 it's the Cyclades ( Santorini usually), with the white houses on the cliff facing the blue Aegean (?) Sea.

Italy-(Rome and Florence specifically)-the architecture is awesome and there is so much history. The know how to take care of places of historical importance. Prolly explains why they are so proud of their country and themselves.

Sydney-Because I live here!

Scotland- the weather might be crap but hey it makes for great scenery. This is where golf was invented by the way, on St. Andrew's, where if yoy want to play there is a waiting list of a year!

Germany- okay, okay, so they might still have neo-nazis running around but those idiots are in the minority. This place is both technologically advanced yet steeped in history. The also have some of the Western world's most important writers, thinkers and composers. It can't all be that bad. :)

Cheers! :bigteeth:

Italy-specifically Venice--St Mark's Square was/is absolutely the best place to fall in love

Austria -- spefically the Vienna woods, no wonder Mozart (was it mozart), yet it was mozart, go so much inspiration for his music. I should as well The Sound of Music (Blue Danube as well)

US -- Specifically New York, the melting pot of the world, what more can i say.

France --Specifically Paris -- well... go figure...

and....

i will travel more and find out the 5th country...

Interestingly, Mozart had to travel to Paris, Munich, Mannheim, Milan and other European cities to find opportunities for his musical genius. Some of his major masterpieces were composed outside Austria. His first symphonies were written in London, and it was in Paris where he published his first works. Mozart had to acquaint himself with the Italian musical styles also to come up with his operas.

How about saying that the bulk of his inspiration came from sexual tension and poignancy? :)

Aha, you really are stalking me. Well, that's understandable because I am your God. Aha, and you know who Sallieri was. That's good. Prove to me more that you really deserve to be one of my polyhistors, you bland head financial analyst. :)

i wouldn't say...but i will ask him when i die and i get to meet him...

anyway...i think it was Strauss who did tales in the vienna woods...anyway...the fact of the matter is he started playing for the austrian empress (was it during the time of the Hapsburgs, did i get the name right?) before he was sent to paris and he was long composing before he went there...he got born and died in vienna as well... =)

cheers...

i just have to post this..

So you are a little bit like Sallieri. Sallieri thought he was the representative of God at that particular time in music. One day, Mozart’s wife brought him one of Mozart’s manuscripts and Sallieri questioned her: "What is this? How many times has he written this?". She replied: "I am sorry he has not rewritten this, this is just the first draft".

So Sallieri realized that God had cheated him and given the talent to Mozart.

piggy,

 so you also browsed yahoo! well, i looked him up just to check the spelling (after all, i WAS addressing my GOD  )

"...playing the sallieri to his mozart..." is a common expression. however, sallieri was no musical lightweight. he was the court composer of vienna, meaning he must have been one of the best (before mozart, of course). he was a deeply religious man. nag-panata pa man din: that he will follow God's law and worship him fervently so long as God allowed him to write beautiful music. in other words, baduy na tao. compare him now to the worldly and reckless mozart. a tragic predicament, don't you agree?

hehehe..actually google...

that's the sad thing about life...you think God has given you everything, and along comes a ******* who's better than you and makes more money (has more talent). Tragic, but there's some sense of beauty in that...

and SUX2BU,

no, i dont think you are a bit like Sallieri..i just posted that thing from the net...not in direct reference to you...
