I had to paraphrase the question so that this thread may also apply to others who might need some help for their future dates ;).

Anyway, I am going out on a date this weekend and I am trying to figure what am I supposed to wear. My date wants me to dress up for this evening since he wants to go hit the town. Hmmm, I need help. :( I have dresses I wear when I go to weddings but most of them are in gray or hues of pastel colors. I have black dresses but they seem outdated na.

This what I had in mind to mix and match what I have in my closet but I have doubts that it won't be that dressy. I have this black knitted RL boat neck sweater, the sleeves are a little bit above the elbow and a skirt to match that has diagonal black, white and gray stripes and a stilletto shoes. Looks very classic but Id say not very flattering or sexy. Will this work? Should I really have to wear like a c-o-c-ktail dress? I want to dress simply and yet elegant, something classic. I am not sure if im up for the sexy or revealing dresses kase. I have an OK figure naman. It's just that I don't want to be uncomfortable.

Any suggestions fashion gurus??? Thanks in advance.

Just to add, if I were to buy a dress for this occasion, what would you recommend?

can i be honest with you? i can't really picture the clothes u've mentioned. firstly, i'm not a big fan of things that match to a tee and you dont have to wear a c0cktail dress. I need to know more details, like what's ur location and where do you guys plan to go? and how do u describe ur style? casual chic? trendy? teeny bopper? slacker? rocker chick? ghetto momma?

thanks trinity. i really need an honest opinion here. i think i really need a fashion makeover. haha. if i were to describe my style, it'll be two words casual and comfort. i am your jeans/slacks and shirt kind of gal. i go for the ann taylor kind of style. im more of the conservative type. i do dress up once in a while only on special occasions like when i go to weddings and such.

im in north cali rite now but we might drive down to LA this weekend. most likely, dinner and probably, bar or clubbing afterwards. don't exactly know the details yet but he wanted me to dress up, he's celebrating kase he just got a new job. just to give you an idea, my date likes banana rep or kenneth cole.

any suggestions will be much appreciated.

what's the weather down in LA right now?

enihu..so ur conservative...well u can try wearing a wrap around shirt and a knee length skirt and knee high boots? classic yet still looks like a party chick...added point if u have a leather skirt. just stick with clean lines..no frumpy sweaters, please. if u want a little trendy thing going on, get one of those shirts with slit sleeves and wear a nice skirt and stilettos...oh yah, unless you're tall, don't wear long skirts. Knee length skirts are always the best way to go especially with stilettos.

thanks, trinity!!!

yeah, no more frumpy sweaters for me. hehhe actually, i thought the top that i was describing was a classic hehee. yong tipong ala audrey hepburn na style. the skirt i was describing in my first post is knee length and then yong prints niya slanted stripes na gray, white, and black. i have a hard time describing it kasi i don't know how to describe it in fashion jargon eh. sorry hehe. i really have to hit those fashion mags once again. hehe it's sad but i am really not that trendy pero di naman manang. :)

i think id go for your knee length skirt and wrap around shirt suggestion. i guess, it gives me a good reason to stop at the mall tonight.

thanks again!

IT DEPENDS UPON THE OCCASION...
WHEN YOU ARE ABOUT TO BUY A DRESS, DONT LOOK FOR THE PRICE..BUT THE QUALITY..NOT BECAUSE ITS A SIGNATURE..BUT A DRESS WHO LOOK YOU ELEGANT...REMEMBER IT IS NOT HOW BEAUTY THE DRESS OR HOW EXPENSIVE..BUT IT IS HOW YOU CARRY THE DRESS WELL...

COULD YOU TRY...A VERY CASUAL DRESS..
LIKE: IT COULD BE TUBE-LIKE OR SPAGHETTI TYPE (BLOUSE), A SEMI STRAIGHT CUT PANTS OR ELEPHANT STYLE, JUST LIKE BELL BOTTOM BUT A STYLE OF TODAYS TRENDS NOT OF YESTERDAY...THIS IS THE PANTS BUT A DECENT TYPE OF PANTS
