CMPROG1: PRACTICE. You know what this is still the most difficult subject I have taken in all my almost 4 year stay in the course. Maybe I was adjusting then to being a newbie college student. I almost failed this one!
Sometimes it's all the mind. I guess what you should really do is PRACTICE a lot with the language, do tracing, and use your MP as starting ground. You gotta have logic (which maybe I lack a bit!) and persistence (don't stop until ya got it right)
BASICON: is fairly easy, there's just TOO much to study about which complicates things, which makes it difficult. The key is to attend all classes to not be left behind. Practice sure helps here.
Sorry if what I said that much it's all a blur, I took this June 1998 and I don't know if they have changed the way these courses are being handled. Are you still taking up Turbo C for CMPROG1? Who are your teachers in both subjects?

COMPRO1 was major hirap for me!! i got a 1.0. at least pumasa ako, yako nga ulitin yun!! wag ka muna magc-cut!! once you started cutting classes, you'll never catch up on the lesson. it's either you get it or you don't. medj.
soulthird: C parin ang COMPRO when i was a frosh (1999).

Tama c soulthird. the freshmen i know or used to know olso were complaining about Cmpro1 that they couldn't understand this and that. Then i asked "tinuro ba ng prof kung pano ngayayari yun comman i.e. if(x==3) ... OO naman daw. THEN I poped the magic question du u practice. they unanimously answered NO well yung mga kakilala ko.
So i encourage them to answer the exercises. This is one of the starting point for one to develop structured and analytical thinking in approaching a problem.
Sa BASICON: magaral ka lang and practice also. it's more objective meaning procedures are just to be followed to get to the answer Unlike in compro the algo on ur mind may not be the same as the proff but still correct
ENJOY

CMPROG1 uses Linux C... The CMPROG1 2nd term is handled by Sir Molano (Rene)... The BASICON 2nd term by Mr. Ruiz (Condrado)...
it's my second take of the two subjects... i had a hard time balancing my studies with extra cirricular activities... and payed the price
i'll do better this time though.

comprog 1 and basicon?
comprog1: ngayon lang ako nahirapang magaral sa buong buhay ko. grabe wen i was still taking up this subj feeling ko super hopeless na pumasa me. about the mp naswerte lang ako dahil na chambahan ko yun. i was able to pass this subj dahil super pinagtiyagaan ko. you need to enough practice to be able to understand it. syempre patience and determination pianaka kailangan.
basicon: ok lang. mas madali kesa sa comprog. you need to memorize here. may isang topic na nakakalito der. *** mga boolean laws ata yun. basta un at saka *** mga IEEE-DP IEEE-Sp. i forgot na the exact name of the topic basta un mdyo kakalito. you need to be very careful sa exams dahil madami computations.
why you transferring to comsci? MAGISIP KA mabuti bka pagsisihan mo ***. comsci is not a joke cors. take it up if you are really interseted with computer and especially programming. think very well bka ma stay stuck ka dito.

nakalimutan kong sabihin.....
BARTOLOME for comprog and MR. MOLANO for BASICON. I'm telling you they are great teachers. super gagaling nila magturo and super duper sa kabaitan. you will learn talaga sa kanila. promise sila piliin mo dahil kundi mgsisisi ka. hehe
comprog1 uses c lang. LINUX
gudluck

veny: i think most of the cs teachers are pretty cool. i got marlon tan for compro1 and he was pretty good, too. gusto ko sana si oli (p.. forgot his surname) but i din't get to have the chance.. umalis na ko eh. chaka si allan "dingdong" chu. he's nice.
yeah, most teachers are ok naman. and they're kwela pa. bata pa kc eh, unlike mga prof sa cbe. :)

machine problems, or MP? Ewan ko kung yun pa din tawag ha, pero yun yung mga programming projects na gagawin mo, they give you the speciications of the project and you do it, it's similar to making your own computer application...
it wouldn't hurt to ask them I guess, para alam nila yung case mo.

It wouldn't hurt for you to ask other people who have finished the course for handouts, notes, mock exams. Compro is quite easy if you have enough materials to practice on. Basicon is also relatively easy, but the volume of info you have to keep in mind makes it a fairly difficult subject to pass. Tip ko lang, make good reviewers that you can refer to. Magagamit din yan sa later subjects in the course like Digisys and Introca.
