Wasup!

Hey! Can someone help me? I'm currently a Senior in high school and I'm still debating as to where I'm gonna end up going to college. Presently, I'm working on my UC application and my SAT's.

The problem goes: I want to go to school in the Philippines to experience how it is to go to school there. I mean, I was in Manila last summer (July-August) and visited quite a bit of universities, not to mention my cousin goes to one of them (DLSU). I have a feeling that I want to attend this afformentioned university! Another factor that led me to this decision are the people that I've talked to in the past. My relatives and friends have been telling me that education in the P.I. isn't all that bad. Moreover, they even told me that some rank high in the charts. So now, I'm somewhat overwhelemed (and confused!) regarding my decisions after high school. It's either I attend a Univerisity of California campus or one of those in Manila.

On the other hand, I have the grades to make it into a UC (not necessarily UCLA though), however, I won't to consider other options that are open to me.

I know I will be a tranferee should I resort to Manila schools, and I'm also somewhat nervous about the tests that I'm gonna have to take to get into them. I don't know anything about them in the first place and don't have anyone to ask further advice from.

Can someone help me in my decision??!! Don't worry, I still have more or less 9 months to think through this dilemma. I need help.

Peace....

JP

Where do you plan to work after you graduate? In the Philippines or in the US? Either way, I think you're better of getting an undergraduate education in the United States. Especially if you think you have the grades to get you into one of the UC schools. How's your SATs? I think you'll be needing an SAT I score of at least 1250 to 1300 to get you into a UC school.

I study in DLSU. And I have no regrets studying here whatsoever. There are many foreign students studying here. There are Indians, Americans, and even Africans taking their undergraduate and masteral studies in La Salle. I am not so sure about the requirements for foreign students interested in applying. But I am quite sure that you will be asked to submit your SAT scores. Why don't you check the school's website?

I hope I answered some of your questions.

WEll...there arethings you can learn in the Philippines that you will not learn in the States.

Generally, the image of US schools is better than Philippine schools...but then, you will never know what kind of contribution you can have in La Salle.

Try La Salle and serve your country....or you can go to UCLA and also contribute to your country.

Try La Salle :elf: (simply, its the best kids!) and see if its for you.

Animo!

you are given a chance to study in a very fine institution of learning such as UCLA, grab it. I'm not undermining DLSU or anything, but US education specifically top tier US education gives you an edge no matter where you are and that's a fact.

You are like asking me what would I choose for toothpaste --- Colgate or salt?

I'm not undermining DLSU or anything..

Well actually, you just did. :)

Why not kung saan ka happy? Nevermind what people tell you. Since your family supports you naman with whatever you choose.

Dami factors involved if u are going to study abroad, like if sanay ka na someone cleans for you, do ur laundry etc etc...can you handle doing that for years by your lonesome? Simple things that you may deem trivial, but trust me, it gets to you when u are in that situation na.

DLSU or UCLA?

What a question? The answer is so obvious.

It's like asking:

Would you rather go to heaven or hell?

Would you rather be a success or a failure?

Would you rather be rich or poor?

Would you rather be happy or sad?

Would you rather be beautiful or ugly?

Would you rather be intelligent or stupid?

I realize that the above examples are not perfect. But they illustrate my point.

The question is close to being "black or white" or, digitally speaking, "0 or 1."

UCLA of course!!!

off topic....

Please help us identify julius:

This post is from "Lets pray for julius...." thread under small talk forum:

"For those who knew Julius , friend or foe, this is going to be a collaboration. Identifying Julius, we can identify him by any reason, technical by asking the administrator on what gateway or ISP he is using, by his replies, his lifestyle, the thread that he is into, the time he is logged, identifying alternicks,anything....

These are some of the clueswe have to gather as many clues as possible)

1. BSECE Grad batch ?,
2. Former Electronics and communication engineer board exam topnotch, I will ask fellows at IECEP (Institute of electronics and communications engineers of the philippines). Will someone ask the review centers, CASTRO, ERA,EXCEL,MITRC etc.

3. Has anyone know his school?
4. Is he from Visayas or mindanao or luzon?
5. Is he gay?

ehe ehe ehe @ SUX2BU

ok so i'm undermining all of philippine tertiary education then. we can't deny, people who graduated in US schools get more versus people who graduated in the Philippines. In my case, i earn more than people who have had years of experience and graduated from the top 3 schools in the philippines even if i only graduated from college last may. I'm not saying it's fair but that's a fact.

trivial things like doing your own laundry and being lonely are indeed just trivial when you have a dream and you have the motivation of getting that dream. people need to undergo sacrifices to get to what they've always wanted. nothing is handed on a silver platter.

it's exactly like asking if colgate or salt is better..i asked my friends the same thing when we went out for brunch ..if you were given a choice of getting a kia pride or range rover....or say gucci versus penshoppe....the answer is so obvious.
