Anyone can easily pass that UPCAT but the thing worth calling a credential is making it to the quota of any UP course....that FOR ME is tougher than getting a working visa to london.

totoy! bago ka sumabat...magbasa ka muna at wag kang umatungal ng walang basehan...tinuturuan lang namin ng leksyon ang batang yon na gumalang sa kapwa at wag tapakan ang ibang instituysyon na di sakop ng kanyang makitid pag-iisip. btw, di lahat ng pilipino sa london ay nurses,caregivers, o DH. another thing, nobody is trying to get the glory out of your UPCAT credential, the thing is, anybody or anyone who has the "intention"(take note) to go to UP can take and pass it...the problem is,not everyone wants to go to UP(whatever their reasons may be).

aba ang yabang nito. FYI of the 40,000 aspirants na makapasok sa UPD, baka di lalampas 2000 ang naaadmit (correct me if I'm wrong)... E kung i compare mo toh sa entrance exam ng CPU? yun ang deserving ng line mong: "anyone who has the intention... could easily pass that test". E sa high school nga, nag top sa entrance exam ng CPU sa batch ko nasa 50th percentile! Galing din ako sa siyudad niyo... I even attended orientations there; maganda yung campus, fine pero incomparable naman siya sa UPD as to education quality...

Also don't go bragging kung saang foreign land kayo nagwowork... E kung lahat ng nasa abroad na alumni ng UPD at ng CPU nag-log sa Pex, e talagang ma-overwhelm kayo... Kahit sa achievements... Don't generalize things from isolated cases tulad ng case niyo... I don't think your status now would reflect on the quality of your school on the average. Baka nga kayo na yong nerds sa school na yan.

Anyway, I would understand how much you'd like to smart-talk with crash (dapat atang trashtalk or CRASHtalk)... Pero totoo ngang ur flooding the thread. Mag PM kayo ...

education wise, nobody is questioning that fact about UPD, the line that im referring to does not apply to anyone who has no "intention" to go to UPD. nobody is overwhelming anybody here, i guess arrogant people like you are easily overwhelmed by the mere seal of an institution. btw, i dont work abroad and im just your ordinary average student when i was in college. again, if you think your one of those "chosen few" filipinos who graduated or studying in UPD...then fine, i salute you...nobody is contesting that....we just dont want to be put down by some crazy egoistic freak like that crash girl...bag-o ka mag wangal da kay ilonggo ka man, basa ka anay halin sa puno...indi lang ang punta...amo na ya ang tudlo sa amon sa CPU.

Why for certain reason, evrybody pushing about the UPCAT thing? The bottomline of the discussion beforehand is the posting of crashbandicot her personal credentials.

Does anybody questions about UP or its system? Come to think guys that we are discussing the attitude of one person here and suddenly, somebody would just pop up telling that UPD is the best and so on and so forth. If you read the whole thing you will never see statements downgrading UP Diliman.

I can't get the real idea why should anybody not read first before putting his/her own comments. It loses the sensibility of the topic, and the things that you want to convey.

Where is the so called logic in there?

No wonder, this topic will go nowhere else.

Karma thing is basically true. I do believe in karma as well. Probably,all of us do anyway.

About here in London, it's really nice. Hope you can come here someday and see how lovely the place is. That couln't be far from reality so I say if you strive harder. For any Filipinos coming here to work, basically they have their own reasons. So whatever it is, let it be.

Being pissed off because of UPCAT:

Well, I can only agree with the rest of us. Here, in our place, the UP entrance examination is really not popular at all. It's so sad because we should have same "rights" to take it and be a government scholar as well but what can we do? Our loyalty is with the other institution (CPU). And we believe that CPU can give us the best school life better than any school canl.

Of course, if you really desire to study in UP, definitely, you are going to take the test. You cannot enter UP without passing it. And also because you believe that UP is the best school for you. Did anybody question that? I don't think so.

So why are all we bother about this Aptitude test? What's with it?

I think this same goes to people who want to study in Ateneo or La salle? They have to take the school's entrance test.And for anybody who is intelligent enough to ask themselves of "Why should anyone take other school's entrance examination and don't want to study there?" It's a big waste time and money. A really big waste of effort as well. Definitely, you cannot push somebody to take UPcat if he/she personally don't want to go there or he/she have other school in his mind.

That is a very simplest example of the things you really are talking about.

Hoping everybody can get what I mean.

hmmm, you know excel, for all your age and knowledge, you should know that when you downgrade a part of a whole body (i.e upcat) your downgrading that body as well, kumbaga ang sakit ng kalingkingan, dama ng buong katawan. if there's something wrong with UPCAT then there's something wrong with UP. i guess there's no need for a lot of logic there, just a lot of sense, common sense.

At ito namang CRASHBANDICOT na ire, kaburat din. magaling sa trash talk. baka isipin ng lahat ng iskul eh, ganyan lahat tayong mga taga pey-ups. konting low profile tsong.

alam ko namang may gusto kang patunayan at kaya mo naman i-back-up yang cnasabi mo. pero low profile lang iho ha?!. ;)

Like i said, kung may gusto kayong patunayan, patunayan nyo. That goes for all, even you my skul mate CRASH.

At oo nga pala, to my dearest critic, IXs , 20 pa lang po ako. 4th yr, ce student. I love your jokekaya tatang, magpahinga ka na lang, baka ka malagutan ng hininga at yumao na lamang . i took up psychology din pala so i know that its just someway of getting back at me and making urself somewhat ok. :D

isn't it nice that even kapampangans can fare good with the science high skuls of metro manila ?

I suppose anybody coming from any rspected institutions is open to the world, of some brilliant ideas and so. Ypu must be proud of any nurses working abroad, for they are sending money to the Philippines. How much is the tax are you paying then? How much contribution you had at the moment with the declining economy of the country? How much are you willing to sacrifice to have a better life? How much are you willing to give for the poorest of the Philippines?

Just ask yourself.

A very arrogant remarks coming from a "so-called" professional or professsional of the future.

To where is your education takes place?

Basically, I can understand what you are saying. But then and again, UPCAT is not UP and UP is not UPCAT alone. It just one part of "getting-in" to the UP system.

I am not old enough though. I just turned 28 and been living and working here in LOndon for almost 4 years now. So as to say, that your mind starts to broaden here outside where the environment is more conducive to learn.

With UPD you have the back up to say that it is one of the best and so we are in CPU. If you check the site you will definitely know what CPU is. I won't say that CPU is the top school or whatever but we claim that it is one of the most prestigious universities in the Philippines.

However, if we claim it as the best and no. 1 then you know that it comes from our heart. Because any alumni can claim their school as the best and number 1 due to their loyalty and wonderful experiences in that school.

I hope you will agree with this as well.

Reiterately, my humble gratitude.

since you did read from the start and if you understood our "plain understandable english", nobody was mentioning the UPCAT thing till your sculmate brought that up as if he(lalaki *** sya kasi may gf daw,pwede ring lesbo) is much better than anybodyelse kasi he passed that exam. btw, about the numbers you gave, of course out of 40k applicants, only 2000+ or up will pass coz its a qouta system,more than that will be financially impractical for the whole system. but, that doesnt mean your way too ahead intellectually against students of other universities. you'll know it when your in the real world, when your already part of the future workforce.(malay mo one of us here will be deciding on your future employment application hehehe)

btw, just because an institution is overwhelmingly great, that doesnt mean being a part of it makes anyone great itself.

Why did you say that you are UPian where in fact you are from UST? Having a girlfriend in UP doesn't make you one of them. My gosh, you don't need to hide where you really come from because your school is one of the best as well. Look ( UPians)they are reacting to the max defending you here in the forum, only to realize that you are just fooling them. Not good though. Anyways, forgiven ka sa akin, sa mga UPians depende na lang sa kanila.

By the way, are we still going to fight who will be the number 1 or whatever or shall we go back to the topic by just posting what you believe is the top 30 schools in the Philippines (which is purely opinionated, depending on what you are looking for in school).

nobody was trying to say that UP students are way too ahead intellectually over students of other univs. I just wanted to point out that UPCAT is not everybody's exam.

I actually don't remember Crash saying he's from UP (correct me if I'm wrong, nakakatamad ng magbasa ng previous mxgs). Anyway you have options naman, masarap ang tocino sa pampanga so pwede kang mag-sideline kung sakaling di ka makatapos sa UP, kasi honestly I doubt your intelligence...

anyways, top schools... sasabihin ko nalang yung mga alam may balita ako:

San Beda College of Law: consistent sa 90% up ng mga students nito ang pumapasa sa bar. for San Beda, our Country and God!

DLSU: level 4 accreditation sa PAASCU ... pasintabi sa mga atenista, sa 2008 pa ata kayo pwedeng magpaacredit. pero, for the time being, pagchagaan nyo nalang muna ang level 3. limang taon lang naman e. hail! hail! hail!

UST Med: 1st PAASCU level 4 med school

Siliman University Dumaguete: wala akong masasabi sa CPA passing percentage nila... galing pa ng Lit Dept nila

UP (in general): pumasa ako sa UPCAT pati sa talent test ng FA. hehehe! hindi naman siguro aabutin ng libo-libo ang aplikante sa UP kung hindi ito ang UP kong mahal.

I have a friend graduate ng UPLB who works now sa UA&P as a faculty. Nung first time daw niya mag turo dun (BS Chem graduate sya and teaches Chem there), binabantayan daw yung damit niya and his spoken English... Pero pagtinanong daw niya students, walang substance ang sagot hehehe that's the term he used: "walang substance"

I think anyone who excludes an obvious choice has to have some issues against that choice, i.e. The University of the Philippines...It is just funny that you have included some unknown schools in your list, yet have forgotten to include the most formidable one...Highly suspicous...

Although, i have to agree with some of your choices. Mother Goose...is a relative unknown yet has figured consistently well in the NSAT's; of course, the International School can't be ignored as well, but again where are the Science High Schools..?

Actually, if you analyse the mood of the sentence, you'll realize that it is in the imperative. Thus, to correct it as, "You can prove me wrong, can't you?" (indicative mood), could be technically incorrect, too...If the original writer has commited any error, it would be in his punctuations...He should have written, "Come on man...Prove me wrong; can you?" The last part couldn't have been a tag question, but an independent clause or a separate sentence (as the original).

Of course, the sentence can be prone to other interpretations and nuances...Hence, it should be left as how the witer intended it to be.

bakit ikaw ang ayaw gumising sa bangungot mo? oo at magaling ang karamihan sa taga up, pero hindi nangangahulugan na walang bobito/a diyan. at hindi rin nangangahulugan na andyan ang mga pinakamagagaling.

iha ganito lang kasi yun. ang pinakabobo namin ay matalino na sa ibang schools.

oo nga at huli kami sa ibang aspecto ng pagtuturo tulad sa IT or whatnot. pero when it comes to producing the best students... UP still delivers.

alam namin yung mga sinasabi niyong yan na ang future ng student mainly depends on his determination to pursue his studies. Kahit ganun, meron talagang schools na lamang sa iba. At about dun ang thread na to.. It asks the opinion of pexers tungkol sa ranking ng schools.
Ang dating kasi ng posts niyo sakin e lahat ng mga nagpost ng rankings dito nag ba-brag ng schools nila. And you think its your duty to humble them by saying being in their school is no different than being in yours or some lowly university... :eek:

heheh sorry, pumatol ba.. :) kayo dapat ang di "inaaway" dito kasi mukha kayong peace-loving bwahaha righteous ba :D

The mindset of the students that are mocking other student's opinions do not deserved to be a student of their respective universities...

My point is there is no reason for this topic to be debated at all, we should respect each other's opinion because our ranking is relative or different from others.

It all depends on the students and not the university, for you to excel and use that knowledge for the good of the society.

MGa parents ko nag ttrabaho sa DOST sabi daw nila ang mga Engineering school lang daw na talagang binibigyan pansin ay ang mga TAGA UP(kahit saan namn tangGApin natin ang KATOTOHANAN) DLSU, ATENEO( alam ko *** COE nila maganda Kc double degree ata iyun kasama Kc ang Physics kung hindi ako nagkakamali) at MAPUA...

at ang lamam ko *** mahilig sa COE at COD *** school na walan pera( wagkang magalit ha nalamn ko lang ito..) kC nag bbigay ng FUND ang CHED sa kanila per year...

sabi kaC ng tito ko UP grad un kng di daw ako makapasa sa UP sa MAPUa nalng daw ako Kc daw karamihan ng mga nagttrabo at mataas ang posisyon ay mga taga mapua... taga INTEL po ***....at kahit sabi ng kapit bahay namin taga UST un IE *** gustong gusto ng FAther nya na kung hindi manlang daw makapasa ng UP mag mapua nalng daw *** kaso MAHAL daw..

di ko maintindihan kung bakit may nagpopost na no 1 ust e di ba palaging binabaha duon tapos ang rami pang snatcher?. tska kung magtratrabaho ka sa singapore (and hk) 3 school lang ang recognized up, dlsu and ateneo. ust is not included.

ang up naman sikat talaga siya pero para sakin di ko masasabing the best ito dahil raming patayan at rape nangyayari dito di ba? tska di naman lahat na nagaaral dito smart basta mahirap ka lang....

talino ng hirit ah! so a schools academic excellence is directly proportional on the number of snatchers/thieves looming around it's vicinity? Hail to UST's security! they must've been doing something right! di kilala sa Singapore and Hong Kong? Then it's better for Thomasians to work in NY where I was once told..." In UP basta mahirap ka lang? I heard in DLSU basta mayaman ka lang...

Korek ka dyan Taylor. Dito pa lang alam mo na kung anong klaseng tao ang ibang pinoy. school pa lang yan ha? I agree that some schools give you a very good training to excel in your career. This doesn't necessarily mean that a person could not excel in his career if he lacks the training from school. Nasa individual pa din yan. Kaya nga di umasenso bansa natin dahil sa ganyang thinking eh. Kung madaming magaling dyan sa mga schools na yan at taon-taon ay madaming pinagraduate at madami sa kanila ay namuno sa lipunan, bakit ganito pa din tayo, nakasadlak sa putikan?!@@@@!

i think it's harsh to generalize but we must take into consideration the fact that there are BETTER SCHOOLS. wag naman natin sabihin na it doesnt matter, na nasa student lang yan kasi that's too hypocritical. if you're a really good student, then you wouldve been given the chance to go to a reputable school. i know maraming ibang factors pero aminin naman natin na sukatan parin ng pagkatao ang eskwelahan. gaya nga ng sinabi nun iba, your school will equip you the knowledge that you need to ensure vertical mobility. wag tyong maging sobrang self-righteous.

pls, dont go mellowdramatic at isisi sa mga estudyante ng mga kinikilalang unibersidad ang pagbagsak ng bansa, pare pareho lang tayong Pilipino, pare-pareho lang tayong bulok kung wala tayong ginagawa para tumulong. kaya din bumabagsak ang Pilipinas dahil pinipilit nating bigyan ng mga paksyon ang mga bagay na wala naman sana talagang conflict.

hmm, i think there was a survey that quantified the level of quality ayon sa kombinasyon ng ibat ibang standards at ang mga schools na nakasali ay..

hindi porke mayaman nakakapasok ng dlsu, kelangan din ng utak dyan.. sabihin na natin na madali entrance exam, pero kapag dun ka na nag-aaral kelangan mo din ng sipag at tiyaga at utak para mag-aral... lalo na trimestral po (tama ba?!) eh hindi pwdeng tutunganga lang...

1/2/3/4/5/6. ADMU/UPM/UPD/DLSU/UA&P/AIM

7 - ??. Other UP campuses / other Jesuit Institutions/ Other Lasalle campuses
??. UST --- Ateneo is better in Philosophy, Ferriols vs. all philosophy teachers of UST... Ferriols wins!! --- Admit it, MAJORITY of the students there didnt make it to ADMU/UP/DLSU/!

Ask them, (though i wouldnt expect them to tell the truth) should they have passed UP, which school will MAJORITY choose?

Year after year, we never fail to discuss this topic. Yet year after year, we end up getting the same answers. So let's give this thing a rest.

In general UP, DLSU and ADMU are the top three schools in the country.

UST, UA&P and Mapua are good schools as well however, their fields of expertise are quite limited.

Yung iba, magaling din. Depende nga lang sa course.
the fields of expertise of ateneo and la salle are also limited. quoting from your post, i dont think DLSU and ADMU are at par with UP even if you say it is "in general". Read some articles and records, you might be enlightened. UP is the best university because it is owned by the state - just that.
