hi! Im also looking for a school or a training center for web design and development. I also inquired sa informatics about their CIPP but I am having doubts if they are good.
you may want to checkout yung Technology Today forum, may threads dun that are related to this.
I have checked NIIT, Meralco Foundation, Edupro ( www.eduproinc.com ) and other schools. Still don't know which one is the best.

i'm a cipp grad. sa informatics-megamall...i also passed the cipp certification...
the ff. are their modules...
1-internet essential/html
2-perl
3-cgi
4-ism(information server management)
...piece of advice lang...'hwag 'nyo na kunin *** 2 to 4...kse *** perl/cgi nila is microsoft based...karamihan ng i.t. company, unix/linux ang gina-gamit...tapos, ism...pang-networking, pero in my experience sa megamall...walang kwenta ang turo nila sa ism...letse!
...after taking-up html...proceed to javascript...and then java...
...sa informatics, they offer javascript and java...java is way much better than perl/cgi...
...informatics has java package courses which in the end, you could take their java certification...ok na 'yun kaysa cipp certification...
...then take-up adobe photoshop...para magaling ka rin sa designing...informatics na rin.
...maging magaling ka lang sa mga courses na 'yan...'gawa ka ng portfolio mo (web site)...& associating what you've learned...web techie ka na!...you could apply for a job and confidently bragging about your portfolio...gud luk!!! :)

sexytots...
let me see if I got this correctly,
1. internet essentials/html
2. javascript
3. java
4. adobe photoshop
ganun ba yung order? I am at a lost kasi. So would you recommend taking this courses in this order? I would like to find a job as a web designer/ developer kasi. Are these the appropriate courses to take? I already graduated from college pero hindi computer related so I am clueless with this stuff. But I really want to switch into this field. Please help me naman....
How long do you think all these courses would take me to finish them? 6 months? 2 years?
Okay ba informatics in megamall? If ever kasi, I'll be enrolling there too.

melrosegirl...yeah! i suggest you take up the courses i told you...competitive ka pag-knowledgeable ka sa java...pero syempre the learning never stops...you might want to explore other web developing tools...& if you decided you want to learn more...it's best and economical to buy some good books and self study...but the ones i told you about is good enough...siguro mag-concentrate ka sa java...and if there's some additional web tools that you need to associate with java...then that's the time you should explore and learn more...i.e. read books & stuffs...to take up all of those courses, siguro, a year, more or less..depending on the availability of desired schedules. :)
...tin28...i took up informatics sa makati (html & perl) mga june 1999...then transfer sa megamall...finished ko *** lahat ng modules by feb.2000...ang tagal no! kse 'di naman nagsta-start *** next module, i have to wait for weeks pa!...kaya nga ako nag-transfer sa megamall kse ang tagal sa makati e! :)

sexytots, thanks! :) I will inquire about that sa informatics. Can I ask you some more questions? Do I need a certification for these courses before I can get a job? Does informatics offer certification exams?
BTW, are you in NY right now? Hope everything is back to "normal" there...
:flower:
tin28, what's that program called?

really!...that's so much better...atleast it'll test your skills to the fullest...kse kung exam kagaya nung sa kin...wala namang kwenta, he he!...*** iba tsuma-tsamba lang...60 ata *** passing e! & i got 78 lang, he he! :D ...talaga! wala na perl/cgi...ano na pinalit? :)
melrose...actually 'di naman prestigious 'yang certification nila no! he he! :D ...buti sana kung microsoft or cisco certification 'yan, he he!...pero *** java certification, mukhang ok...makaka-kuha ka naman ng trabaho basta you know your skills, pakita mo yung portfolio mo, pag-impress sila, that's a good sign...*** iba nga 'dyan 'di na nag-take ng courses, basta nag-self study lang, they tend to get an i.t. job they desired...basta ang importante naandon ang interest mo. :) ...informatics doesn't offer certification exams such as microsoft and others...what it's offering ay *** sa kanila lang, i.e. cipp...and u have to take their courses pa before taking up their certification exams...pero *** java certification nila parang may dating or prestige. :)
ok lang naman ako dito, as well as the rest of my relatives here in ny...he he!...nung july lang ako dito dumating e. :)
sure...ask lang kayo ng questions...don't hesitate. :)
...peace... ;)

Took the CIPP Program. What a total waste of good money. The teachers were always late(if they ever did come at all), the curriculum was not up to date, the pcs always were breaking down so we couldnt do the projects. What a sorry excuse to be a computer college. They even have the nerve to associate themselves with some British School.
If you want a really good program, get it at NIIT.

I'm a professional from a completely different field, but I've always been interested in IT, and am planning to shift careers soon, so I started taking up CIPP. I'm in Module 3 already. May I correct some of you... the modules are:
1-internet essentials
2-HTML
3-perl and cgi
4-dynamic web development
5-internet server management
sexytots, oo nga... i shouldn't have taken up perl and should've gone straight to java... but it's too late, I've paid for the whole course already. that's a good suggestion though, thanks, I will explore that option.
otaku what you said is so disheartening especially for current CIPP students like myself. but to each his own. i do agree with you, though, about the teachers always coming in late, and the work stations always bogging down. But it's not all about the school and the facilities-- it's the students and their capacity to learn, despite the limited resources, that really matter.
Peace.

I'm also an Informatics CIPP graduate from the Megamall branch.
If you ask me, I don't recommend it at all because:
1. No use of Microsoft Frontpage - we did all our HTML in the notepad text editor. This is NOT the professional way to do web design.
2. No Javascript - the CIPP program does not include Javascript, which is used for client-side web programs on the browser.
3. Perl and CGI are outdated - nowadays, real professionals use ASP, JSP or PHP to do dynamic webpage development.
4. Not all classrooms have internet access - how can you be an Internet Professional if the school you attend does not have complete internet services?
5. Use of Microsoft IIS - nothing personal against Microsoft, but the fact is that most web servers on the Internet use Apache / UNIX, not IIS. We were not instructed properly on how to upload files to these kinds of servers.
6. Their manuals SUCK - We were given these thin blue "manuals" of less than a hundred pages with pitifully little information inside. Bad editing, Bad typing, Bad organization.
As a beginner, I was not aware of these limitations, but now I know better :) Good luck to you guys taking up the program! Basically though, I agree with travis that its not totally about the school and facilities... if you think you're not getting your money's worth, buy a good book, read and do the exercises and go one step better than what your teacher's teaching you!! :D

WALANG KWENTA!!!
Sayang yung binayad ko dito. Yung tinuro nila sakin sobrang hindi ko magagamit. Yung basic HTML lang ang useful pero yung mga dynamic stuff eh walang kwenta talaga.
