My high school grades were very mediocre that's why i couldn't get in an Ivy League school. :teehee: at least i'm honest enough to admit to my shortcomings ;) I went to Fordham since it's jesuit and it's in the best city in the world, New York.

Well, I'll be honest -- I won't be able to afford the foreign schools. I'm applying so that I can see if I actually have a prayer in getting into an Ivy League or European school. I'll be attending the best school in the country (to me at least): the Ateneo de Manila. :)

In the Philippines, I applied in 5 different universities:

Of the 5 schools, I got accepted into 4. The course I chose in UP was a quota course and I didn't make the cut.

In the United States, I applied and got accepted into 2 colleges, namely Knox College and Rockford College, both in Illinois.

I am presently studying in the De La Salle University - Manila. And I have no regrets whatsoever.

Im planning to take up medicine like the rest of the family...kaya dyan ako nagapply...UP Manila kulang ng mga pt. smethings (nde kc sineryoso ang upcat... maybe "bobo" lang talaga :bawling: heheh) , UST super late testee na!!! kaya patapon na courses nalang....and finally feu (superior daw sa rating bwahahah :D). im taking-up med tech at feu shfting to nursing. masaya naman ako dahil kilala naman ang feu wen it comes to the fields mentioned lalong lalo na sa PT. But before i was really disappointed that things were not turning out as planned, pero ngayon im happy and okay na ganun ang naging outcome! kailangan *** naman linisin ang ng konti ang name and in time everything would be in its rightful place... :flog: sa med proper--> FEU NRMF, PLM and i'll try UP (taas ng pangarap?:lily: ) hehehe wala ng problema sa feu and plm, kung saka sakali just hoping na makapass ako sa UP....coz all of my barkadas are maroons...science high schl kc kami dati...feel so small :dance:

its the best - i had most of my wonderful memories there!! too bad i didnt finish what i started there... but im proud coz naging Tomasino ako, and the Tomasino blood will always flow in me!!

didnt apply to ADMU coz yung mga mayayabang kong cousins were studying there..
didnt apply to DLSU coz yung mga barakada kong cool non, naging ma-"ere" ever since naka-pasok sa La Salle...
didnt apply to UP coz at that time i was scared of the crimes i saw in news reports happening there..

Sinadya yata ng mom ko na hindi ipaalam saken, kase two of my sisters were already in UP... so parang expected na rin na dun ako mag-aaral. Kakainis. Sayang scholarship... ang mahal-mahal pa naman ng mga gamit sa arki!!!!

Ako rin kasi merit scholar sa ateneo and from the letter mala-prestigious name lang yun na nakakabit sayo. So no big loss. I mean mas okay naman siguro na bilhin mo na lang yung mga mahal na gamit for arki kesa ipagpalit mo yung 6,000 a sem nating tuition.:)

If you really were given a merit scholarship by the Ateneo, you must remember that merit scholars are given full support by the school -- meaning you won't have to pay for anything (except for the food you eat, I guess) for your full stay as a student. Even textbooks and references are taken care of.

funny thing.

at the UP, well, everyone would want a scholarship grant that will subsidize tuition, books and maybe a little stipend for fun. but the really prestigious scholarships are honorific: whether you're a college scholar or a university scholar and for how many semesters. even if you didn't graduate with honors, you are sure to put the times you were conferred the honorific in your resume.

nb: i'm speaking out of spite, actually. in college i was college scholar only for two sems. in mba, i was college scholar for one trime and a university scholar for another.

Talaga? Kasi parang dun sa letter na natanggap ko (circa 1998, hehe), parang may opportunity ka lang to be advanced yata, and to receive certificates pag nag-excel. Now, I'm not really sure. Alam ko kasi, meron talaga silang scholarship na kailangan mag-apply. So ang impression ko yung merit scholar, by name lang and academic support, meaning, opportunities nga to be advanced, etc., parang wala or minimal monetary support. Since sa Ateneo ka nag-aaral, I think I would have to take your word for it.:D

think also of what u want to end up after college, pag business sa la salle / ua&p ka magaral, pag law or sumthing cnnected, sa ateneo or up, pag med sa ust... kasi these are what these skuls are known for.

Three schools came to our school and gave out free tests: ICCT, AMA and ABE. I doubt I'd be going there though.

Ang mga books namin sa library eh puro latest edition at maganda, pang imported pa.. Tska dming mga computer doon sa mga computer labs, free internet pa and free account sa students... May free snacks pa at free gamot sa clinic nila... ano pa, amm mababait ang mga teachers, ipapasa ka na nila agad......... mahirap lang ang entrance exam nila sa csb.....

I passed all the admission tests of these schools. Pero di ko naasikaso scholarship application ko sa Ateneo saka wait-listed ako sa STUFAP ng La Salle. So,it's next to impossible na makapag-aral ako sa dalawang schools na ito. That's why, I'm now a happy 5th yr ECE UP student
