hey, it seems this sport is becoming the sport of pinoys. it tied taekwondo as the main gold medal producer in the SEA games. do you think we must divert some resources into this pasttime?

i personally think agawan base should be the national sport, but then some may disagree...

I think billiards will be just fine whether or not we sink a lot of money into it. There will always be greats like Bata, Django and Amang. Just look at the talent pool that's available - virtually the entire population!
And regarding agawan base, maybe the national sport for the 8 to 12 age group ;)

yeah, i agree about the agawan base. it really takes a lot of discipline and talent to be able to excel in that sport. :)
i think billiards can't be a national sport to replace sipe, because i think to be a national symbol it has to have origin in the country, right. pro, batang uliran is right, hindi mawawala ang billiards. and we'll definitely produce a lot of champions, specially now that there are a lot of billiard halls sprouting everywhere like mushrooms. we'll definitely have a lot of bata's and django's coming up. :)

tingin ko the question is not about the national sport. it's supposed to be equality. every sport must receive fair fundings para more chances for medals in international events, di ba? tingin nyo ba sisikat ang billiards kung walang cable t.v.?

wait! let me learn how to do the "preparasyon" before billiards becomes the national sport.
agawan base? i prefer piggy dam [mas violent!] and inter-bed bounce [no-no ang bad thoughts! :)]

i guess kutyista has a point. well... dapat lang we should give exposure to pinoy athletes that excel in global competitions.

To answer your question, yes it is.
My comment on the topic itself... As a national sport? I don't know. But certainly, the government should pay a little attention to billiards.
If billiards were an olympic sport (and it was almost voted to be included in the 2004 games), we'd already have a gold medal. The Philippines is #1 when it comes to billiards (although taiwan is catching up really fast). It's terribly unfortunate that the government isn't doing much to try and develop a new generation of world class players. It's probably the only sport where Filipinos are considered world class, and yet there's so little effort to develop the sport, specially at the grassroots level.
