It was amazing to know that the PBL juniors upset the number 1 junior team in taiwan. I guess the idea of Mr. Guiao and the PBL board is paying of. I guess the future of Philippine basketball is looking bright and i hope that the PBL will continue to sport the junior sports program.
Sana the team will go all the way to the Finals!!!

With so many basketball leagues around, including the college tournaments of both the UAAP and NCAA, what exactly are the different niches held by each league? Like the PBL? What exactly is Yeng Guiao's vision for this basketball body?
I support all three leagues, but I'm beginning to think that the commercialization of basketball is starting to become the top agenda for each of the three major basketball bodies. Where does this leave our National Team and the development of an Olympic caliber basketball team?

The team is composed mainly of the junior champions Absolute coached by George Gallent and Luigi Trillo. Congrats! After what happened against the Taiwanese a week earlier at the Jones Cup, I'm glad we were able to save face and do something positive.
They are mainly high schoolers from all over the country. Watch out for a guy named James Yap. He's a guard from Iloilo who DLSU has heavily recruited this past year. But guess what, based on their evaluation, he won't pass the entrance exam so let's see who he ends up with. I've been told (although I haven't seen him play) that he is even a better talent than BJ Manalo.
Peace.

The PBL all-stars won last their semifinal game against taiwan team B. They were facing the Korean team last night. The team was lead again by James Yap. Paul Artadi, who plays in the UAAP performed well. I really think that it is good for the PBL to send this team to such tournament. It is not only a way of giving fresh talents international exposure. It also helps us gauge the level of competition and our position in the world.
I think Mr. Yap will be playing in the UAAP next year. Im sure many coaches are willing to give him a spot in their teams. When it comes to comparison with BJ, well we will know who's better maybe next year.

For those who didn't know, the team bagged the championship! Congratulations!
At least something good happened after the Jone Cup fiasco. :)

This is great news! If we can only take care of this team, then maybe a few years from now they can regain our lost glory in Asian hoops.

This will never happen as long as our junior program is in the hands of the best coach in the Philippines, Johny Tam and his lackeys!
I cannot understand why the BAP is holding on to this coaching genius after he became the first coach to fail to steer the Philippines past the Southeast Asian qualifiers for the ABC Juniors and then come up with a myriad of excuses for his incompetence.
I cannot also understand why he cannot convince the best schools in the land to lend their players so we have to settle for the Philippine College of Criminology varsity masquerading as our national junior team! Yes, Tam finally landed a legit coaching job via PCCr, a team that could only muster Fourth Place in the last CUSA despite being loaded with "national players".
