Baldur's Gate 2

[Limerick]

The graphics are so-so, the spell effects are cool, learning curve is intermediate, especially if you're the type to play first then read the manual later. Sounds are okay. Loading times are way too long and the game takes up a huge chunk of your hard drive. 700+ Mb for a compact intall, 1+ gig for a standard install... sheesh :rolleyes:

As someone who's played the pen-and-paper game as well as all of the recent Bioware releases, I have to say that this game is the most faithful adaptation of the AD&D rules as well as the Forgotten Realms universe to date.

And the scope of the gaming world is massive -- one can get lost with all the sub-quests and NPCs. Best of all, the air of mystery which surrounds the true plot means that something pivotal to the story can actually just appear as a side-quest.

For someone with the right firepower in their PC, this game is the best CRPG I've seen to date, and easily worth the 1-2GB installation.

This is the best CRPG I've EVER played! The story is incredible and the game is HUGE! It'll take you months before you finish the game if you try to do all the quests.

This is the game that shattered my addiction to Diablo 2 and reminded me how real storytelling is possible in a computer game. Such depth!

And the way your party members speak up during random moments! They seem so alive!

I am currently playing BG2. The gameplay is different from Diablo.. more sophisticated. if you are the kind of player who likes hack and slash games, then this wont be the one for you. the game is more or less based on Dungeons and dragons

i just started playing BG2 recently. i'm not really into RPG's but i'd say i'm mighty impressed (& addicted ;))with the gameplay. i'm still having a hard time though of finding the right counter-spells against enemy-spell casters (i have no manual, pirated CD kasi).

i'm currently aiding Nalia on her quest to rid the Trolls in her place.

It's up to you. It's your party. That's what I love about this game, more than a dozen ways to cleave a vampyre :)

If it were my party though, get rid of one of your warriors (you have too many) and replace the person with a mage. You seem pretty weak magically. Edwin is wicked. :evil:

i'm playing an elven fighter-mage-thief along w/ Minsc, Anomen, Valygar, Aerie & Nalia. I recently got rid of Jaheira for Valygar, just an experiment. Just finished de Arneise Keep & Umar Hills. Still thinking it over which place I'll be going to next, either the Docks, Temple Ruins or the Planar Sphere in the slums.

Compared to the other female chars, I'm getting the 'right' responses from Aerie lately. Its still a loooongg adventure.

uh-huh, BG2 rules! The only fault I could find with it is that the yung graphics niya, hindi ksing ganda ng DII ... but then I'm not using the 3-D accelerator :-).

If you are planning to have an evil party (you are putting Edwyn and Viconia kc), then Viconia is much better than Jeheira. There is a rule that there should be only one thief in a party. Replace Nalia with Haer'Dalis! Bards are very useful in combat!

I forgot Aerie's experience cap, can she cast level 7 spells? If not, dump her, Warding Whip can't counter Spell Trap. Edwin is the best magus out there...daya nga nya eh, andaming spells na pwede I-memorize nya (Magic Missle onslaught!).

Jaheira is ok. It's just that the game doesn't have any cool scimitars and Vicionia is absolutely wicked with the Crom Faeyr.

About the graphics: maybe you're running it on 640x480. The backgrounds are excellent. The detail is done well, the design really makes you feel like you're in a different part of Amn. Have you seen Underdark and Sudenlessar(sp?) the Elven Cities? Ganda talaga ng contrast, elves and dark elves. :D Spell effects are okay, better if you use 3D acceleration. Best 2D I've seen in a long time. :)

Has anyone tried soloing the game?

Beltaine: yeah, Yoshimo kicks *** ("KAIII!!!... yeeaah" - I love that). But *spoiler* he dies once you hit the Asylum. You're gonna hate yourself for spending time on him. I personally prefer ole Jan Janssen who has hilarious NPC interactions (the best are with Minsc and Viconia, though the Keldorn/ Anomen one are ok) and he's an excellent thief/mage you can take through the whole game.
Tanis: I really don't like Jaheira either, unfortunately how else are you going to be able to use Staff of the Woodlands (yeah, it's only end game, but it's a +4 with built in barkskin and the Avatar of Rillifane thrown in for free).
Viconia's the best cleric in the game, and fantastic with the Crom Faeyr (particularly because her strength is so low to begin with), but her hit points are bupkis. But hey, I once got her magic resistance to 100% allowing her to just ignore Abi Dalzim's and other nasty stuff. Plus her color commentary is great once you hit the Drow City.
By the way, I've got an almost infallible strategy against Mind Flayers involving her... I cleared their city and that place in the sewers like it was a goblin lair (okay so maybe not, but it was pretty easy nonetheless). Anyone interested?

Baldur's Gate 2, one of the most greatest games ever to hot the PC!!! and im playing it!!!! it's soooo cool!!! kala ko nung una, mahirap syang laruin. pero once you get the hang of it, nakakaadik!!! btw, once ko lang sya nilaro and syempre tinapos ko rin. my final party are:

Me - Monk the great *** kicker!!!
Minsc - pinag dual-wield ko sya nung una w/ celestial fury and black razor. pero sucks talaga. kung gusto mong mag dual-wield, magmastery ka dapat
Keldorn - i love the Carsomyr!!! one of the best weapons!!! sya nga lang ang pinapatay ko kay Gaxx!!! hehehehe
Jaheira - kala ko noong una, aabot sya sa level 14, di ko tuloy na-challenge yung nasa druid grove. pero cool pa rin.
Nalia - i'm playing a good party. kaya sorry na lang kina Edwin, Korgan, and Viconia!!! pero she's a good mage.
Imoen - napilitan ako tuloy kunin sya. naiwan tuloy si Jan sa Spellhold.

btw, meron nang mga editors for BG2. pero ang habol ko doon ay yung papalitan mo yung appearance ng character mo. imagine, your thief will look like a shadow thief!!!, your fighter will look like a doom knight, or your character will look like Joneleth Irenicus!!! try nyong i-download sa teambg.com pero kailangan nyo munang i-download yung VB6 package nila. para gumana yung prog.

martyr, i think i know what your problem is. nangyari na rin sa akit yon mga ilang beses na. try borrowing another disc 4. that should do the trick.

I started at 10pm last inght and finished at around 1 am and the funny thing was I still wasn't sleepy. I had to force my self to stop playing. Man, ofc gets in the way of gaming hahahaha

sobrang nakak-addict once you hit ur stride kasi nung start asar na asar ako kasi ang hina ng character ko and lagi akong patay pero ngayon sulit na. parang naglalaro nga ako ng C&C pero limited units with more story and lots of fantasy special effects.

u didn't get aerie? ok yun. 100% spellcaster. she is a cleric n mage as well. siya isa sa pinakasulit na characters ko.

when u finally find the carsomyr sword, you should give it to that paladin-inquisitor.. i forgot his name!... anyway, he's the only one who can weild that weapon eh.. pero grabe ok yung carsomyr. i think its even better than the supposed "best" weapon of the game which is the crom faeyr warhammer. lakas ng dispel magic ability niya eh! :)

nalia is ok na rin. kaso when u find imoen, ull see that imoen is a better mage-thief than nalia. pero ako, personally mas gusto ko ugali ni nalia eh. masyadong senti si imoen eh.. :)

kaso make sure u give him gauntlets of dexterity. alam ko mababa dex niya for melee, so make him alalay :)
and, don't bother putting him in ur party unless u have carsomyr na. he isn't that great without the holy avenger (carsomyr) :)

btw, u know d crom faeyr? it gives the weilder strength of 25! lakas ba? hehe. but if u ask me, i'd go for that 50% dispel effects of carsomyr any day :)

medyo high-level quest yun eh... its the quest in windspear hills. you'll have to slay a dragon to get the sword :) so it shouldn't be one of ur first few quests. maybe midway...

btw.. the hardest monsters to kill are, in my opinion:

1 - demi-lich
2 - lich
3 - dragon
4 - mind flayers
5 - beholders
6 - vampires

pero yung mga lich, just like mages, once u have carsomyr, olats na sila :)

yung mga dragons naman.. well... maraming strategies dun... may cheat strategy, meron din yung legit.

if u have the mace of disruption, madali lang vampires. make sure u have either a berserked fighter (e.g. minsc) para wala level drain, or u have that certain spell casted (i forget what the spell's called.. basta it prevents level drain)

I haven't time to play Baldur's Gate 2 yet (sigh!) but I will someday. I stopped playing Diablo II after a few days as I got bored with slashing through monsters. Not much fun with Diablo II once you've ended it unless you're on a network with other players.

mismo. i agree with u. diablo 2 is more fun if there are a lot of you

but hey, try BG2. the storyline is terrific. the game control is very simple. the graphics are pretty good. and the gameplay is terrific.

I might be playing BG2 over the semestral break (haha) when I have time. I'd also like to try out Tales of the Sword Coast, and of course, Throne of Bhaal as well. Then probably Icewind Dale and Planescape Torment, too. :D

several ppl didn't enjoy planescape torment... masyado nang surreal and unbelievable na yung world na yun eh... dunno... something about it just didn't catch my fancy :)

as for icewind dale naman, its pretty good! in fact thats what im playing at home right now. i installed the expansion set (heart of winter), para hindi na ala-bg1 yung graphics and more on bg2 graphics na siya. when u install HoW, make sure u patch it kaagad though. the original AI in HoW is sorta mucked up :)

hmm... try opening the PDF manual file that comes with the game (or look at the hardcopy manual if u bought d orig game, like i did.. hehe) there are tips there on improving performance.

one way to improve it to NOT use the 3D accelerated thingy... i think u can adjust it sa bgconfig program that comes with the game

right now im playing icewind dale (grabe.. nangangati ako mag BG-type of game eh..hehehe)

icewind dale is a dungeon crawl, BTW... kung gusto niyo mga wilderness n open areas, u may not like IWD...

im also playing final fantasy 8 sa PC.. la lang... wanna finish it eh :) hehe

the thief gets even stronger in BG2 - ToB
he has this abiity to hit multiple backstabs consecutively. ok nga eh! pero hayop sa lakas yung fighter. in my opinion his abilities in ToB are the best.. sobrang lakas...

masaya rin naman yung diablo2 eh. masarap magpalakas ng character. pero i dunno.. i guess nagsawa na ako sa diablo2. in fact i didn't really like diablo2 eh.

of course its better if u experience diablo2 in a network place. mas masaya yun kaysa single player.

I think i didn't like diablo2 because of the save system. When I save I expect to be back where I last left and not kill everything again. IT ups the bore factor 10 times... :)

have you tried playing on gamespy. there are a lot of bg2 servers up kaya lang medyo ayaw ko pa sumali kasi mahina pa character ko eh. aside from bg2 there are unreal tournament, red alert servers.. etc... medyo mataas nga lang ang ping ko pag naglalaro ng unreal so I usually content my self by playing in the server of my isp. Destiny ang isp ko. I think I'm one of the lucky ones who have a good connection. there have been a lot of negative things in their own message boards about their horrendous service.

weird nga eh.. i used to play BG1 a lot online. i would go to this site, www.heat.net (i think its closed now, however)

pero when i tried to play BG2 online, i somehow didn't like it.. dunno why.. hehehe :) i think its not as multiplayer-friendly as diablo2 or something

you can easily export your character from the character records page.

and then when u try playing multiplayer, you'll have to import a character. just choose the character u exported from ur single player game

ah.. wait... im not too sure about that...
but anyway, there's this icon somewhere on your character control screen (bottom bar, u know, the screen that lets u choose ur weapons, cast spells, pick locks, hide in shadows etc..) anyway, in that bar there's like a "bag" icon there na, when u click on it, it opens up all the special abilites your character has provided by magic items, weapons, etc.

btw, when u put ur mouse over something (an icon, an person in the game, other whatever) press TAB and u'll get a description of what that object, icon or person is

What makes BG2 more fun than BG1 is that the quests come to you... unlike in BG1 where you'd find yourself wandering around aimlessly looking for quests in open areas...

what is your main character? ako by the end of BG2- ToB ang lakas na ng main character ko. she's a level 20 fighter, level 21 mage, with level 5 mastery in the long sword (she uses the equalizer..not that great huh?) and level 5 mastery in the bow (THACO niya is -12! hehe)

i think she's the ultimate ranged-attack person. she can cast offensive spells and disabling spells like most mages, and is very proficient in the bow.

trolls u just have to use fire. unlike the final fantasy games na kung ano anong elements ang weakness nila u'd have to figure out (fire, ice, etc...) sa BG2 di ganun ka complicated. only trolls - kill with fire.

yung medyo complicated kung isipin yung mga breaching spells vs. the protections mages have. eg. BREACH vs. stoneskin, etc, dispel magic vs. chaos/confusion, etc.. medyo kailangan alam mo which spell to cast to counter another spell. pero then again, its not that mandatory to know it

all spells naman have descriptions on what they do. check mo what the description of the spell sequencer is. sa alam ko u can cast 2 spells simultaneously (e.g. 2 magic missles at d same time). im not sure though. tignan mo nalang

i'm having a hard time deciding what to do... I was taking on the Shadow Thieves quest when I decided to rest at an inn before doing Mae'Var's bidding. Then this creep suddenly curses Jaheira and I'm forced to save her first. But when I got to the Copper Coronet Nalia asks for help and I'm too generous to turn her down (turned down Anomen though). Now I have to do Nalia's quest before I do the Shadow Thieves quest, right? In the government district several people (a cowled wizard and a kid) asked me to do stuff for them and I couldn't refuse. So now I had to do 4 quests after the curse thingy? Well, that doesn't end there. After saving Jaheira from her curse I decided to help out Nalia and on our way to her stronghold we encountered several thugs who poisoned a man. The man asked us to bring him back to the docks district and we did. I thought that that was the end of it and proceeded to leave, but Xzar (yes! another familiar face) asked us to find Montaron for him. And to do that, the guy at the house (you'll know what I'm talking about if you did these quests) asked us to do another thing for him before we could take a look around. Geez, so much to do for one day...

hehe yeah i know what u mean. it gets even worse if u start venturing into other areas of the city, where u don't really need to go to. if u go to those places you'll get even more and more quests, and before u know it, ur swamped! :)

cast farsight. summon 3 creatures to attack the enemies. cast web. fireball the critters and use arrows magic missiles. if anyone is still alive after that send in minsc and valygar to wipe them out. if farsight is not possible and if it is a boss battle i cast haste. defense . breach . greater mallison and attack with whatever offensive spell I have.

ako mahilig ako sa mga spells tulad ng greater malison. after casting that, i cast spells like chaos, confusion, mental domination, and other disabling spells, while my fighters go in for the kill.

i rarely use summoned creatures. if ever i do, i bring em with my party and attack the same time they do; i don't use them as cannon fodder. basta yung mga spellcasters ko, very impt for me kasi i luvvv casting disabling spells :)

anyways.. as i said, may mga cheesy tactics, and mayroon ring legit tactics.

ill mention some of the legit tactics...


- dragons always attack first with their breath attack (thats d attack that stuns and makes everyone fly away from d dragon) to avoid having ur entire party scattered, don't have melee units attack d dragon all at the same time for the 1st round
- dragons have high levels of magical resistance. if u cast around 3-4 lower resistance spells, you'd wear their magic off (more prone sila against most spells na)
- as with other encounters, u can always use summoned monsters as decoys to the AI


there r a lotta other techniques.. kaso a lot of them are cheesy n medyo parang cheat na sila eh. i can give u some tips if u want.. :)

My party currently consists of my Swashbuckler character, Minsc, Yoshimo, Aerie, and Nalia... it's not a permanent party, though...

Talk about being swamped! I headed out to the Temples District to finish up a quest and I ended up having two more quests added to my list! Ah well, I need the gold and experience from it anyway, I guess Imoen'll have to wait a little longer hehe ;)

I currently employ a sucky (but effective as of the moment) strategy. First I set a lot of traps (between me, Yoshimo, and that dual-classing bug, I get a heckuva lot of traps). Then I use summoned monsters (or Minsc) as bait and lure the enemy toward the traps and then cast area affacting spells like Cloudkill and Fireball. I finish up what's left with ranged attacks and Minsc, and a few Magic Missiles if necessary (cool level 1 spell!). This'll probably change in the latter stages of the game.

In BG1 my character had most of the kills (I basically snuck around on my own in dungeons and isolated enemies and either shot them down with arrows or backstabbed them or lured them into an ambush set by my other party members), followed by Kivan (snipes enemies from a distance), Minsc and Adjanis (my frontline bruisers, plus Adjantis assisted in healing the party and detecting evil), Dynaheir (grew powerful by the end of BG1) and finally Viconia (coz I reserved her for healing the party). In BG2 Minsc has most of the kills, followed by Yoshimo (he sets up more traps than I do), Aerie (because of her magic), and finally me (because it's tougher to hide in shadows in BG2, and because I lost my backstab modifier :().

just be careful about having too many quests. some quests kasi have time limits.. like if u don't do them in 15 days, wala... quest over, with the corresponding penalty...

i lost anomen that way (i didn't go to the temple district when his judgement day arrived). i also lost jaheira by not going to a quest she needed. same thing with nalia. anyways, i was able to reload the games naman eh.

remember, ur main character can talk to your NPCs. if there's something important for them (e.g. anomen needs to go to the order) the NPC will voice their thoughts to you.

btw, rescuing imoen can wait. take all the time u want before finally givine the 15,000 to that guy who knows about imoen

Umm... set traps, rest, and set more traps before you challenge the dragon...

Position your party far away from the dragon, have your strongest (or fastest) character talk to the dragon then flee! Summon a couple of monsters, then send them one by one to get the dragon to use up his spells? Then attack him, use the Breach spell first...

its not a matter of level-upping. strategy yan. a lot of people use cheesy strategies to kill dragons. i suggest u do the same too. masyadong mahirap yung dragons if u try n play it fair.

tactic 1 - use wizard eye to distract dragon

wizard eye can take a lot of damage. always put it in front of dragon so that dragon is distracted. then u can hit dragon without him hitting u back


tactic 2 - use set traps ability all around dragon

use a thief to set traps around d dragon. CHEAT: diba u can only set a maximum of like 3-4 traps a day? u can set up to a hundred if u want, all in one day! ---> use thief to set traps. pag ubos na yung ability for d day, ask him/her to leave party (leave but "stay right here"). then when NPC isn't in ur party anymore, talk to NPC again and invite him/her back. when in party again, NPC can set new traps. CHEESY huh? that's how i killed firkragg, btw.. hehe :D hirap niya eh!

ps - if dragon accidentally dies right away due to traps, its possible that u won't get XP nor carsomyr. if that happens, just reload d game.

Dragons? Not much trouble. I hate mind flayers more even.

Evoker wearing Cloak of Reflection, two Gaxx Rings, Staff of The Magi, Robe of Vecna.

I have a chain contingency around me all the time: protection magical energy, protection from energy, and similacrum set to go off on being attacked. I have a spell sequencer that has breach and two lower resistance spells. I have a spell trigger with ruby ray of reversal, breach (one of the most important spells in the game), and...uhh...a death spell I think. Finally a minor spell sequencer with two magic missle spells. First thing to do is to lower the resistance. If you have a cleric you can start off with magic resistance then make your magi follow up with lower resistance spells. I have a cleric and three magi (PC, Aerie and Imoen) so resistance goes negative at the first round if I'm in a party. But anyway, talking solo you'll have to get your spell sequencer and a few more lower resistance spells in. Of course, protected from almost anything he can throw against you (you can switch similacrum for improved mantle for mad immunity). After all that, it's up to you how you want to pick him off.

Keldorn -> good vs mages, can wield the Carsomyr, low DEX score but you'll come across the Gauntlets of Dexterity near the place where you find him so it's okay

level 8 ka lang vampires na inaaway mo? whoa... reign in boy! :) there's a time and place for that, but not at level 8

Mas masaya kung huli mo na gawin yung mga side quests na nasa labas ng city (Trademeet, Windspear Hills, Umar Hills, D'Arnise Hold) para mataas na level mo pagdating mo dun. If you do that, mas maraming kalaban i-s-spawn sa areas na yun (may mga liches :D).

ako kasi im a strong believer in magic.. hehe :) mahilig ako gumamit ng spells. sa party ko sobrang lakas ng mga mages.. kaso bottomline is that usually the fighters do the killing. pero yung mga mages n clerics ko reign chaos everywhere, literally! i cast spells like chaos, confusion, greater malison (one of my faves kasi it makes saving throws of enemies lower!), hold monster, and all other "disabling spells. and when the enemy is disabled, yun, my fighters finish em off.

some people would use other styles.. like use a lot of brute force n all. ako kasi i prefer making asar the enemy. i like to "play with my food" so to speak :D

kanya-kanyang style yan. do what's most fun and effective for u

Ever since my character lost his backstab multiplier I've been relying on his traps a lot (and that dual-classing bug too). I defeated that Warden (from the Planar Prison) without even really touching him...

And yes, Greater Malison is a great spell! Makes all the other spells very effective...

yup. all the way until level 30+ at BG2 ToB, greater malison played a good role in my spell-casting abilities.

Send in my twin towers Keldorn and Sarevok to tank for my magi. Imoen and Aerie fire off minor contigencies of magic missles then use missle weapons and Anomen either summons an Aerial servant or joins the two warriors, depending on how many enemies there are.

If it's a really powerful mage, I prefer mage-dueling. My PC Mage's casting time is reduced to almost instant for all spells, but I still use Improved Alacrity. Time Stop to cast my defenses (spell trap and protection from energy) and one offensive spell (usually spellstrike or ruby ray).

Well, traps only affect hostile characters and creatures, so you can place traps all over the place without anybody getting hurt, party members or bystanders. That's a good way to damage most enemies that start out as neutral (blue circle). If I know that a character will turn hostile after a dialogue (either I predicted that or I loaded from a lost battle) I place traps all around that character before initiating dialogue, ensuring that I do a great deal of damage at the start of combat.

With my main character as a Swashbuckler, I let him do most of the scouting (hide in shadows + Cloak of Non-Detection protects him from True Sight and other anti-stealth abilities). When I see an area with hostile characters, I backup a bit and set the regular traps to the area where I'm planning to lure them (some place where my party awaits, ready to attack). I then use Yoshimo's special traps because he can set these from a distance. I place a special trap on an area near the enemies and it gets set off. The enemies take damage and sometimes start giving chase to Yoshimo, who lures them toward the other traps. If they don't give chase, I may try to use summoned monsters, or one of my stronger/faster characters to lure them. The Bounty Hunter special traps are very nice, since they have certain effects that become better as the hunter gains levels (i.e. trapped creature gets poisoned, held, etc.). Losing my backstab really hurt, so I've become trap-dependent, that is, until Aerie (my mage) gets more spells... or maybe after I get Edwin...

nope your party is not affected by the traps set by your thief or anyone who has that skill. traps are nice because they're faster than spells when used. use traps after scounting an enemy either by hide in shadows or farsight.

I don't use traps much because I rather prefer spells. I scout with valygar jaheira casts far sight. after that my two mages (me and nalia) cast web and cloudkill or web fireball on them. the tanks take care of anyone who gets out of the web.

liches are basically hard to defeat
but with carsomyr at your side, they're as easy as pie =)

you're in luck dude. I just got thru this monster. Just heal it and itdies. just cast a healing spell, one healing spell and its toast. damn that monster killed me a few times. I healed it out of desperation :)

saikee. i finally killed firkraag, and all it took was just one feeblemind and he just stood there. I didn't have any thief with me to set traps so I tried cloud killing it while out of sight but it just healed it self so I hasted every body and attacked full force.

I casted wizrard eye to distract it but the damn dragon dispelled it but it gave me a few seconds to cast greater mallison and feeblemind. It just stood there and got whacked. Took a while to kill him though.

I killed the lich with the daystar and carsomyr. its funny coz the lich kept following me. out of the tomn then out of inn. good thing it didn't follow me when I went to another part of athakla. I wonder what the people where doing while I was out and the lich was running amuck in their town.

When I returned it was still outside the in but no people where killed.

its toast now though. It has tons of nice items :)

My character was the only one who took damage (from wing buffet, he was the only one who approached Firkraag to initiate combat) and the dragon got heavily injured from taking about 11-17 damage from each trap (about 13 traps) and died from the residual damage (13 traps doing 1d10 of damage)...

I screwed up Anomen so he didn't become a Knight whcih could lead to a fight with Keldorn. I accidentally killed Aeris when I was starting.... so she's out dead as a doornail hahaha

ruroni: well, I think you need a healer... for me Jaheira isn't enough... you've got the two bruisers (minsc and keldorn), a spellcaster and a half (you and jan), a good enough thief (jan). either you replace jaheira or haer'dalis with viconia (and get the Helm of Opposite Alignment so that her and Keldorn won't come to blows).

EazyRyder: Who you take with you depends on what you are and what you need... i had this BG1 party rule for myself that I must have two front line attackers, two back row supporters (one of them has to be a thief), a spellcaster and a healer... since ranged weapons aren't as strong in BG2 as in BG1, I modified my rule. Now I should have two frontliners, one who can be a frontliner or a back row fighter, a healer, a spellcaster, and the 6th should be able to do at least two of the task i mentioned. Right now I've got my swashbuckler (the frontliner/back row person), Minsc and Keldorn (two frontliners), Aerie (my backup spellcaster AND backup healer), Edwin (my main spellcaster, might change due to his alignment) and Anomen (main healer and backup frontliner). I'm very happy with this party because I have so much of what I need (4 strong enough fighters, 2 good archers, two mages, two clerics, 1 thief for de-trapping and unlocking) with only 6 characters... sure I'm missing out on how great Valygar is but I don't need him in my party anyway...

i never tried valygar eh.. i found him too... "square" and boring. hehe.. besides, i got a lotta mileage out of yoshimo :) si jan naman, never tried him... but i will, for sure

i've been reading around and a lotta ppl say that it's a single-class mage that's the most powerful. sabi ng iba (which i agree) that the mage is the single most powerful character you can ever have. pag level 40+ na siya, the mage has 9 slots for all 9 levels of spells... imagine, 9 time stops, or 9 simulacrums, 9 chain contingencies, 9 wishes, etc...

I'm not sure where he goes, he mentioned a tower in his dialogue when I kicked him out of my party. I think he goes back to his house in the Slums (jansen estate or something like that).

The Helm of Opposite Alignment? Well... you won't find it in the game, you have to use CLUAConsole to create it...

hehe.. that's an understatement actually. welcome to baldur's gate games :) the game itself if pretty diverse that its very hard to cover all aspects of the game. kung baga, the experience is soooo varied and different with the many options n styles of playing u can choose na hindi ka talaga magsasawa sa game.

I think I'm ready to go kill bhodi now. My party already has the celestial fury, carsomyr, flail of the ages, and two parts for the crom faeyr. my party is drinking in the copper coronet now. When I get back we'll go to aran vail and give him the info on bhodi.

hehe! hey did u know d baldur's gate box (original games only) has this warning that the game has "alcohol consumption content" or something like that.. hehehe. i remember na nung papataying ko na si sarevok sa BG1, the night before i intoxicated all my party till they were drunk as hell! even i here at my pc had about 2 beers (para masaya) hehe

I installed the merchants patch kaya lang hindi ko makita kung nasaan yung bonus merchants. ang alam ko yung isa na adventure's mart and yung isa nasa copper coronet. inikot ko na yung dalawan place pero hindi ko sila makita eh. Aanybody know where they are?

Ummm...try mong isara lahat ng memory resident programs (like virus scan) at bukas lang yung Explorer at Systray...it works for me...and Installing ToB helps too (dunno why)...turn the color back to 16 bit...don't use 3d...use 640x480...ummm...what else?

do you play only in 640x480 with lots of the details off? tinangal ko ang 3d kaya lang ang pangit ng fog of war eh. hindi na blended.

what are the specs of ur system and what setting do you have on or off?

naka above average lahat ng settings sa config but my resolution is 640x480 para mas mabilis ang loading...Cache Size ko 500 MB minsan 750 kung gusto ko talaga mas mabilis...yun lang iniba ko...with ToB installed inaayos nya yung mga ibang slow down bug...kse meron din pala sa laro mismo ang nagpapabagal at nde komputer natin...:)

thanks for the advice again. by the way nagbabasa ako sa message boards sa planetbaldur's gate and there are killer systems there that are having problems with BG2 like the game hangs after 2 hrs. They need to restart the game every hour because the game grinds to an unbearable speed... things like that and their systems are 1ghz up with tons of ram and the newest vid cards. I'd love to get my hands on their systems!!! too bad their having problems with bg2.

people say pinaka-mahirap na battle sa ToB si demogorgon kaso mas nahirapan ako sa last boss ng ToB.... grabe nga eh. nakakapikon yun :) for me the hardest was the last boss ( i wont say d name para di kayo ma-spoil. hehe)

well actually, iba yung playing style ng BG2 at diablo2. pero for me, since i was an avid pen n paper DnD guy back in my kiddie days, siyempre I'd take BG over diablo anyday! :)

I do have a save game before choosing to go with simon or just find my own way in the underdark . since I'll be going thru underdark anyway I might as well reload and play it from there. hhmmmm. choices choices or may be I'll just go thru it when I play thru the game again.... just thinking aloud here :)

I made a lot of screw ups in my game here's a list

killed aerie
anoemen not knighted
did not take nalia for the de arnis keep quest
did not take yoshimo with me to spellhold.
no romance *sigh*
a lot of wrong spell choices for my sorceror
a lot of wrong spell choices for my backup mages( i've gone thru three mages... nalia, then jan and now imoen)
wrong assignments for proficiency slots...
and more screw ups to come :)

what class would be a nice pick for when I play again?

I recommend if you are a melee fighter then try to be a fighter who is ranged or a mage so that you'll get a different feel in the game...:)

huwag ranged fighter. corny eh. my character was a fighter lvl 20 na naka-specialize sa bow. malakas siya sa BG1, pero ang hina niya sa BG2. besides, archers are pretty corny in BG2...

mas exciting maging mage sa BG2. talagang didiskarte ka kung ganun eh.

damn I thought kangaxx was hard!!!

I killed him with minsc holding crom fayer and mace of disruption and keldorn with carsomyr. After Kangaxx turned to a demi Lich Keldorn and minsc hit him just once and he was dead. I was puzzled I thought he just cast some form of invivisblity but when I checked my quest log, the quest was completed!!!

I also killed bhodi now I'm in the elven city. bagal ko no??? weekends na lang ako nakakapag laro eh.

grabe, ur lucky man :) kangaxx is the most difficult single-enemy battle you'll have, since he casts uninterruptible imprisonment. Ako i defeated him by casting spel immunity and selected the school of magic to be immune to (i forgot na what school that was...)

hehe baldur's gate is evil ba? hehehe :) ako buti lang natapos ko na yung game kundi kating-kati na rin ako tulad mo :) mga low-key games lang nilalaro ko ngayon tulad ng black n white, need for speed porche n max payne. but none of them are as deeply addictive as BG2
