Relax......

I'm not from there, so hindi ko alam kung may pinoy restau dyan. But I can give u the recipe!

Ingredients:
Kalahating muka ng babuy
1 stalk celery, 1 onion, 1 carrot
Chicken liver (mga 10 pcs.)
Lemon, or if available calamansi
1 big onion finely chopped

Procedure:
1. Boil the babuy & chicken liver in water with the celery, onion,
carrot.
2. Add salt & pepper to taste.
3. Pag malambot na ang babuy (ang liver madali naman maluto
yun, e.), i-grill mo sa griller.
4. Ito na yung hard part. Kapag crunchy na sya, i super chop mo
yung babuy.
5. In a separate bowl, mash the liver w/ ur hands. Add the
lemon/calamansi. Add the onions.
6. Ihalo mo na ngayon yung chopped babuy and the liver.

Above procedure is authentic Kapampangan sisig. If u want Dencio's recipe, fry mo lang until crispy.

The ingredients can be bought in any oriental palengke.

P.S. About the sizzling part, u need a sizzling plate for that. To finish it off, serve on a sizzling plate with calamansi, siling labuyo ang Knorr Seasoning!

I've been thinking of doing that, too. mala dencio's. Panay ihaw. Tapos sisig. Pang pinoy na recently lang lumipat sa U.S.! Kasi the old folks wouldn't get it. Lalo na dyan sa Claifornia, palagay ko hit yan.

Ang problema mo lang, kung saan may pinoy at inuman, plus karaoke, sigurado low class ramble gabi-gabi.

Ang nag dadala naman ng image ng bar yung may ari, e. So ang kailangan mo dyan yung mga partners mo kaibigan mo lahat. Para dala nila ang mga kaibigan nila. It will ward off the wrong crowd-- in the beggining. Tapos kapag by the time pinasok na ng wrong pinoy crowd, u can rightfully assume that it's time has come. Close it na and open a new bar. Or renovate. Or change the name. Or come up with a gimmick. Pero kung mala-dencio's lang naman, e, at hindi naman mala Fat Willy's, hindi naman siguro ganun ka high-image ano? Puede ring maging family place, e. Not necessarily inuman. Pero may booze. As long as you've got ur sisig, ihaw, SMB, puede pa rin naman maging high-end Pinoy, e.

I'm guessing that there are more decent Pinoys there than here in Seattle. I've got some friends there na target market mo. Pero magandang aralin 'yang business na 'yan!

There really isn't any art to it. Masarap din ang tuna belly, and panga ng tuna.....yummmmm..... breakfast could be cool, too. Garlic rice with adobo. Naka cross over na ang adobo sa mga puti, e. They like it. Also longganisa and tapa. Alam mo ba ang Espy's? It's popular w/ Pinoys and Americans!

I think u got something going there. Parang Red Robbins na Pinoy. Bar pero puede rin pasukin ng pamilya. Therefore walang gulo. Tapos if it becomes a hit here, maybe you can bring it to the Philippines. Baliktad naman. Instead of Goldilocks, Jollibee, etc. coming over here, you take it there. Pretty cool, ey?

Always a good idea, RaySantos, though lots are struggling while others have closed for good. There were a couple in Union City right at Alvarado Blvd years ago. It would be nice to have a place that would feature live modern rock bands and would be nothing more than a full-pledged bar that would serve nothing but "pulutan" from sitsaron bulaklak to buffalo wings :D :D :D something like Solita's in Daly City, only without that restaurant-half and more live bands. I know a couple of bands if you do open up a place in the East Bay :)...

My bro is thinkin of going to SJSU for CE and we were all wondering where it's cheaper to live up there...San Jose, SF, East Bay...saan ba? Yung city na he can commute by car to SJSU in less than 30 mins with affordable apartment rates. And can you give me an example of apartment rates.

I've only been to Union City in Alameda County and that's it but that would be far from SJSU cause I know CalState Hayward ang malapit doon where the Bart passes by the campus...I remember from my last visit up there.

I'm confused about all the NorCal cities. Saan ba yung Milipitas, Vallejo, San Bruno, Daly City, etc, etc. All I know is these cities are bursting at the seams with our own kind...pinoys..hahaha.

How's the job market up there in NorCal?

Basically I just wanna know what cities are safe with affordable apartment rates and close by to jobs and SJSU all at the same time?

I would need a car up in the Bay Area diba? Like life here in LA where you need a car to go to work and do your everyday biznaz.

I know it's expensive up there but it's getting expensive down here in LA too. A one bedroom in our building goes for 800 bucks a month already. Siguro mas mahal or comparable na rin diyan sa NorCal.

SJSU is obviously located near San Jose. Milpitas, is just a couple of miles away (note: I suggest you use Mapquest to visualize the distance). Thereby, search for apartments around those areas. I'm sure your bro will find "affordable" rates for apartments located close to campus. Such as "student rates"

At that website you'll find all the answers to your inquiries (i.e. rates, distance, type of housing, etc.). Hope that helps.

Isn't Daly City in the South Bay?? I mean, since Daly City is considered south of SF. North Bay is where Vallejo is. Actually Vallejo is more of like Northeast Bay. :glee: Berkeley/Oakland - that area's the East Bay.

Gilroy is about 20-30 minutes from San Jose. Okay lang naman yung outlets. Lots of stores to choose from. If ever you go there, I suggest going twice because it's hard to browse through all the stores in one day {4 sections}. But I'm not sure if you'll think it's worth it. It all depends on your taste and whether you get lucky enough to find some things you like.
By the way, Daly City is not considered South Bay. It's in the Peninsula. This is how it goes >>>>>>>

Yes, Daly City is South of SF. As for Gilroy, I think it's very much like Vacaville. I think they pretty much have the same stores like Nike, Gap, etc. :-)

I'm in a similar situation as you. I too live in the east bay but opted to commute by BART to work/study in the city. My reasons are as follows:

a) although, it would be quite convenient to live near the vicinity of school. Rent prices are a bit way over my budget.

b) if you're living at home (note: and your parents are willing/allowing to live at home) than that's even better for your pockets. You can save that money for other expenses. Anything, remotely free is better than living-off from paycheck to paycheck.

c) Commuting by BART isn't as bad once you get the hang of it. You can simply take naps or continue studying on the trip to and fro.

hey thanks for your insights...it takes an hour and a half for me to get to The City from here and my car is now showing signs of wear and tear ....sleeping at BART? I guess I could get used to that...it's going to be a pretty long BART ride for me, El Cerrito Del Norte to Daly City. I don't ride BART that often and everytime I do, I have to sit close to the map to know where I'm at :D Oh yeah and driving there back and forth, it costs me $6. Carchines (I know that's the wrong spelling) and Bay Bridge tolls plus parking. With BART on the otherhand, hmm...I think it's about the same...


I actually am eligible for Cal Grants and I'm also considering student loans because the interest is so low. Campus housing would cost me $800/month (you're damn right about those rent prices, it's ridiculous, do they have rent control in the city? I highly doubt it...) commuting is significantly cheaper but I'm so lured by the idea of living in Frisco and not having to deal with parking and just the city in general....Fairfield is such a so-so town you know ...plus I'd like to get a job there too, oh I don't know, I'm afraid I'm smack in a middle of a quarter-life crisis. I want to get my degree done and over with plus I wanna grow up too :D

I'm glad to know that there wasn't really that much damage done but don't you notice how the media's blowing it out of proportion? Or was it just me? I don't know, it was still kinda unnerving. It happened at 10 pm, I'm usually driving through the lower deck of the Bay Bridge on Monday nights around that time, good thing class was dismissed early. Basta, I'd hate to be on any bridges during earthquakes, regardless of what magnitude it is. I kept thinking of the Loma-Prieta earthquake back in the early 90s or was it late 80s? I wasn't in the US yet when that happened and I'm now just starting to realize how powerful that quake was - heck, it was so strong, part of the Bay Bridge buckled..Bay Bridge!! It must've been so horrific for these Bay Area folks!

Either that or maybe you could park your car in the nearest BART station and just take the train from there. At least you could use the time to study or relax instead of focusing on driving. :-)

Hope you all are okay up there. Heard about the earthquake. Makes me wonder if it's worth purchasing a house in California at all. I've been through 2 major tremors here in Los Angeles.

The WHITTIER earthquake when I was in 5th grade.
The NORTHRIDGE one when I was in 10th grade.

I know there's one more major one in between these two but that may have been the one up there in the Bay Area way back when. Where the top freeway collapsed on top of the other and the Oakland A's had to cancel their game or something...Jose Canseco...still remember the dude. Hahah.

Reena: Nako magcommute ka nalang or campus housing. Driving that far will burn you out over time. Good luck with your transfer to a 4 year uni. I got asthma (acute) when I moved to mine...cause of the stress and the huge campus to walk and run around in. Heheh.

Sheesh. 5 classes left for me after spring quarter ends. I'd love to take 3 for summer, 1 for winter and 1 for spring and then ...tada...graduation na. Fall I have to take off to go visit Pinas again for a wedding.

I thought I was doing so well in my classes, I was pretty proud of myself, I looked at their test papers and :eek: , it's almost like, it's normal to have an almost perfect score!!! I don't know, I was happy to get an A- or a B+ . I love it though, I needed that kick.

Reena: Yeah I go to CSULA and I switched to Marketing from CIS. I hated C++. I think you should go and declare a major cause all business majors, I'm assuming, will require the same core classes like we do here. Everybody including CIS takes upper division accounting, econ, management classes on top of your separate electives and classes for your particular major. BS Business Admin option in Marketing is what my diploma will say.

Kulitin mo yung department adviser or secretary when you go to SFSU :lol: Be really makulit cause sometimes the counselors are dazed and confused themselves and say different things to different students.

Plus I dunno about SFSU but when I transfered to my campus, I was fully GE Certified (meaning I wouldn't have to take any more GE's puro upper division na lang ako) but they have other requirements like a writing proficiency test and other upper division GE's they require in order to graduate...ahhh...it is so irritating...they keep piling on unecessary classes that make you stay longer.

I wish I could've had cash for Devry or ITT tech like Jon because they graduate people faster minus all the bull that comes along with a public 4 year uni. Oh well.

Gash...why Target...your science degree holder friend should've gone into pharmaceutical sales or something entry-level with a company instead of a retail job.

BS BA degrees will fit in just about everywhere.

SFSU is nice. Our campus is ghetto westside 4 real...hahaha.


Jon: Heyyy! Well i'm still here doin' school and a part time job here and there tutoring kids at a public school or an office and I took a 3 month break to go visit the motherland last October to January. Tons of fun.

...I so resented JEPET!! It freakin' stressed me out! You know I spent the first half hour b*tchin' and whinin about it in writing. :D I hated the fact that they put you under a time limit...I just sat there the first five minutes just...stressing...I came too close to crying hehehehe - a mixture of frustratin and anger...and then I vented..then I started to brainstorm ... I still thought that the facts they gave us were so limited though. The subject was about whether or not ex cons should vote. What was your JEPET topic about?

...and miraculously, I passed. I didn't really expect to pass..I was preparing myself to take that stupid upper division english class..

What's a JEPET? Is it the writing test required to graduate with a degree from a CSU campus? We call ours down here a WPE Writing Proficiency exam...it's so stupid...a standard 5 paragaraph essay on some random topic...I do think mine was about elections or politics as well...I can't really recall...been a while like sometime last year and a half or so. Any fool who'd been through English 101 and another required upper division English class woulda aced it like that. Kinda like an English class essay for a junior or senior in high school.

What's segment III? Di ko rin alam yung term na yun. I'm guessing it's one of the areas Area A B C D whatever...in the Cal STate Breadth sheet thingie the counselors or transfer centers give out at the JC (junior college). Uhhhm..I don't remember..what I took...it's been a while since I graduated with my AA degree...mga 2 1/2 years na.

Just ask classmates diba and you'll hear from the grapevine who's the easy professor, what's the easy class with not a lot of homework and easy MC, T/F tests...scantron...hehehe. Essay blue book test are alright too...hehehe.
