July 15, 2001: Ateneo 77 La Salle 66
Although the seniors game took the limelight yesterday, the defending 2-year-in-a-row UAAP junior basketball champions, the Ateneo Blue Eaglets, did the job by easily beating their La Salle opponents yesterday.
Congratulations to the Ateneo Blue Eaglets!!! Onward to a three-peat this year!!!

I've said all along, ATENEO is one of the strongest teams in the UAAP last year and this year. Sayang, all that talent is going down the drain with Lipa. He does not have the understading of an Ateneo player. HE says your team has no heart but coaches dont teach heart. Lipa just hasnt found the Ateneans heart much less know how to make it work for the team. Even his substitutions have put in doubt his capability to coach in these modern and scientific age of basketball. Membrere cold, plays more minutes than Fonacier who was waxing hot all night. Fonacier has the height and qualties to take the place of Wesley Gonzales. Also, fonacier is a true blooded Blue Eagle who plays with the "ONE BIG FIGHT" attitude. Sayang, old man Lipa failed to see this last night. You are right, the reason why DLSU remains competitive year in and year out is because of the system that Franz instilled in the players. Lipa has no system. Old style coaching that does not do well in this new age of competition. Teams have to play more systematic, intelligent and scientific. Lipa is the last of the 60-70's style of coaching. Get with it!!! It's a new millennium na!!!
Sandy would make an excellent seniors coach. He will understand the players better having played with much heart for the Blue and White. It's time for a change!!!

The Blue Eaglets showed last Sunday that La Salle juniors is not a contender to their crown. Two players , Urra and Austria doesn't make a team. You need a strong starting five and a deep bench to do the job.
Nice game to Gio Pasion for his booming three pointers ! The ferocity of Mike Bata ! The heads up play of Mike Guidaben and Ryan Dalman ! and of course the good coaching job of Jamike Jarin and Sandy A.
We will be following your blazing trail to the championship ! Watch out for the UST tiger cubs! They are the team most likely t
to challenge you !
ONE BIG FIGHT!
