I see that there are a lot of La Salle fanatics here.
But does anyone notice CSB's performance in the NCAA this year?
I chanced upon one of their televised game and they gave NCAA current front-running UPHCR a run for their money. And I've heard that they beat San Beda. This they are doing only on their sophomore year in the league.

Doesn’t this remind you of La Salle's entry in the UAAP?

GERBS: Yes, a back-to-back title would be grand. But what a year it would be to read the sports headline:

I take my hat off to you guys when you defended our alma mater when she was bad mouthed in another forum. But unfortunately, many of DLSU's students show the same prejudice to our brothers and sisters across the street. I can't imagine how they feel when the ones joking about their school came from the school that shares their name. Rektikano comes from these words (Latin, I think): "Rektu", meaning "straight", and "Kanu", meaning "arrow". So all in all, it signifies La Salle's resolve towards any of its goal: straight like an arrow. Of course, I could be wrong; it could be a corruption of "Amerikano", seeing as how La Salle was founded by our big white brothers ("'Merikano keena-keena").

As for Animo, it means "spirit". But I'm wondering why UST and Ateneo also use that word. Mas mabangong pakinggan ang "Animo La Salle" kaysa "Animo USTe" or "Animo Ateneo". We should copyright the word and make money off it or something.

Just to set the record straight Ateneo has been using Animo since the early days of the NCAA. La Salle soon followed.

In fact back in 1988 UAAP season when Ateneo defeated La Salle in the championship game Animo Ateneo was used extensively. But since you guys like to copy cat 1 BIG FIGHT seems more powerful.

After all Ateneo has been around longer than La Salle. So if you are thinking of having Animo pattented it just reflects how arrow headed you guys are. Is this the reason why you have Bo La Salle ! Bobo La Salle cheer?

Well, I just want to congratulate Ateneo for beating La Salle. The breaks really went their way. Hey, it's still a long way to go. Never ever count La Salle out of the running for the title just because they lost to UST by 2 points and to Ateneo by 3 points. ANIMO LA SALLE !!!

animo was also used by yco in the micaa in the 50's and 60's. i read somewhere it was also used by san beda and letran during the pre-war days. letran has since changed their war chant to arriba letran. the article ranked the cheers of the different teams (ateneo, san beda and letran were rated the highest, but this was a late 80s article so it could be different now). it was a very old article, but i believe la salle was NOT credited for being the first to use the animo call. just sharing !!

This subject somewhat bugs me . . .
Bakit sa dami dami ng basketball championships ng La Salle sa NCAA at UAAP, correct me if I am wrong, e si Lim Eng Beng lang ang ni-retire na jersey. May I know what are the prerequisites for a jersey to be retired? Well, I don't know much about La Salle's NCAA participation, but in case of the UAAP, I do believe that Jun Limpot's number 9 jersey should be retired. He did not only bring La Salle 2 straight titles in 1989 and 1990 (actually dapat 3 straight), but he was a perennial member of the Mythical Five and has won the UAAP MVP award more than once. ANIMO LA SALLE !!!

la salle doesn't have a patent on the word animo. frankly, i was a bit surprised when la salle started using it extensively after their first championship in 89. when la salle first entered the uaap, and even during the 88 ateneo-la salle finals, they didn't use 'animo la salle'. i could be wrong, but that's my first-hand eyewitness observation.

Sad to say, breaks of the game yung panalo nila. Nevertheless, a win is a win di ba. La Salle should work doubly hard in its quest for a back to back crown. Their 2 losses were mainly due to very poor free throw shooting and poor rebounding. I do hope they would readily correct this problem. Muntik na silang matalo sa FEU because of tjos two factors. Thanks. Yeah I was there yesterday at the ATeneo gym to watch the our match vs. NU. I knew that we are the winners from the start. But what really made the La Salle crowd happy is the fact that San Diego (#7) was finally able to make four points in the game! Sinupal-palan pa niya yung tira ni Lordy Tugade.

When I was a college student at La Salle I wanted to join the Pep Squad but I decided na wag lang kasi my course required me to attend production days every Saturday para sa practicum. Kaya naging supporter na lang ako sa bench. It's fun too.

Don't mind Warstinker... First of all, he stinks (figuratively and literally). Second, he's a Tomasian - a lowlife, a slum, at the same time ignorant. Third, Tomasians don't protect any image... because they don't have any image to protect anymore.

Not only that, his grammar and sentence construction stinks... typical of a UST detractor. Di nakakaintindi mga yan. Kaya nga nasa UST eh...

If I were you, I wouldn't waste time pacifying a "lowlife" like warstinker. Let him say what he wants. After all, he doesn't know that he's already making a fool out of himself.

Wow, my point spread was even right! In another topic in this forum, I had predicted DLSU would win last Saturday's game by a +8 margin (look for it, boys and girls)! I should have bet on it...

And we even did it without Allado and Aldeguer! Even I was surprised. This just shows you people a glimpse of how good next year's batch of Archers will be.
