They say people handles their finances in four ways... either:

1) Your accounts are handled by a professional
2) You often seek the advise of your broker before trading
3) You've always relied on a traditional broker
4) You are a 'do-it-myself' investor

As of now, how do you handle your own finances ? Are you a person who does his own finances by yourself or do you trust a professional to do them for you?

4.) I'm a do-it-myself investor.

I don't trust brokers because as of today's market most of them are broke and probably contemplating suicide. When the market took a nose dive, I was shock to see my investment portfolio lost 60% of its market value. Right now I'm not worried, because I have confidence in the stock market and based on market history, it should go back up within 5 years.

Hmm...I don't know which to choose, so I shall describe the way I invest money.

I mak all the asset allocation decisions (what proportion of the funds are used for certain types of investments - stocks, bonds, property, deposits, and other) as well as risk allocation decisions. After that I use the services of professionals (stockbrokers, bankers, etc) to assist in placing the funds. Normally these professionals can't make trades without my permission.
