the following are my personal comments:

Lao
- I think he's a good player....moves well, shoots fine. If only he could add more mass with respect to his built, I think he's gonna be another Richard Yee. U know, they both got chinky eyes...hehehe

Ortiguerra
- Marvins' mahiyain if he's off the court. Especially now that he has his braces on. Pampadagdag pogi points daw. Pero if my memory serves me right, he is really kumpiyansado when it comes to defending his posts. He is a good big man and plays his position well. Malayo ang mararting ni pareng Marvin. =)

Espiritu
- I watched this guy when he was still in high school and I think if he is given enough playing time, he'll show you what he's made of. I really haven't seen him play, kasi nga I am not there to watch the UAAP...and you bet I really miss the games!

Latoreno
- U know what, if you see him around campus, parang hindi sya basketball player ( but his height is really noticeable ) kasi simple lang sya. Hindi sya, alam mo yon, may mga player kasi na pag nakita mo, parang merong nakasuot na plakard na " Player Ako!". But with respect to his playing, he is also good. I remember him pestering Mark Telan the last time they faced each other. Latoreno really did a good job k'se he made Telan foul out.

Valeriano
- Kalbo pa rin ba sya? Lam mo, yan ang pinamachika sa lahat ng player sa tingin ko lang. Member sya nung nagsusuot-ng-plakard-na-may-nakasulat-na-"Player Ako!"-gang. Dati kasi when I used to watch the UAAP, hindi sya masyadong pinalalaro. Pero I think its because he came off an injury. But, I think he has the moves. Improve pa nya.

Yun lang! =)

Pasensya na kayo sa hirit, ha. The frustration and the temptation were just too great.

Let me be honest. I used to dislike UST, because they beat my team three years straight. What I failed to realize then was that UST won't just roll over and hand us the title on a silver platter. So eventually, I went on to like UST and look forward to the La Salle - UST games. Okay, not really like, but a healthy respect, especially for Coach Aric.

As for the big men, UST in the 90s has always had the good fortune of getting quality big men. Names of superstars like Espino, Reyes, Evangelista, Cantonjos, Yee, Ballesteros were always big headaches in La Salle's quests for the crown. And now, they've got pretty decent big guys in Espiritu, Lao, Latoreno, Ortiguerra, and Valeriano. None of them are superstars, nor will they ever match the status of the Big Tigers (except for Espiritu) of past seasons, but they get the job done well. Which, in the end, is the only thing that counts.

I'm disappointed with the development of Gilbert Lao. He showed a lot of promise as a freshman, but I guess his injury affected him not only physically but also psychologically. He's not really a banger which makes him a Mark Telan-type of center.

Latoreno reminds me of Edmund Reyes. Hardworking, blue-collar and very strong player. He's a tad too slow for the pros, though.

Marvin Ortiguerra has a future. He just needs to put it all together on a consistent basis.

Valeriano is all porma.

I'm really interested on Espiritu down the road. If he realizes his potential, we might see a marquee matchup of him and Villanueva two to three years from now (a la Paras vs. Francisco during the late 80s).

Gilbert Lao did bulk up. But by getting such a physique, he lost his quickness and finesse. He now seems enamored with banging around (wc. he can't do during his freshman year). Well, he's still young.

hi!

the big guys of ust are not that intimidating compared to Allado of La Salle. But I think coach Aric can rotate them so well that the Tigers can really find the strenght in them. I know Latoreno personally and he really is training his guts out just to make it happen for the tigers. And Lao, he's really good too but he just have to focus more on the game. medyo on and off kasi ang laro niya. W/ Marvin, well, what more can you ask for?

well mas humble sila ngayon & may face value na! so hindi na ako aasarin ng mga pinsan kong lasallista na walang face value yung players namin! heheheh!! & one more thing they sure have TALENTS!
i'm also agreeing with that of Valeriano...puro porma! :D

I think Gilbert Lao needs to bulk up. Its just so pathetic to see him getting banged in there so much. He needs to work on his upper body. Those shoulders are too small. Bad Deltoids! He needs to work on his footwork. What else? He can't jump??? Sayang ang height nya! I see him play during his high school days sa UNO High. He was pretty good. Showed lotsa promise. Sadly enuff, that was "then".

I think he needs to realize the UAAP league is for men not boys!
