it's nice to remove those bands out! i guess it doesn't match the mood ( the cheering mood!) of the crowd. No offense to those schools that uses bands huhh, but to tell you honestly hindi perya ang UAAP! well DLSU has a set of great drummers & cheerers, i gues you'll just have to work out on your voices, just kidding!

I wonder why La Salle doesn't use a brass band? It seems silly to ask this since the pep squad is already there, but it would be great if the DLSU would provide a brass band to liven up every Archers game.

They used to have a brass band. Yeah, I'm asking the same question: where in the world is the brass band? Kaya tayo sintunado sa Alma Mater Hymn, eh. At ang lungkot, walang "When La Salle Comes Marching In" at yung "Cheer, Cheer for Old De La Salle" (don't know the true titles of these songs). Maybe the more knowledgeable Lasallians like archerguy and Rektikano can answer this question.

Hi Don,
Honestly speaking, I think nakakagulo ang brass band sa pep squad. During previous years, they have to give in to each other during certain parts of the game. Minsan when ang ganda na ng cheering ng pep squad biglang hihirit ang band and na do-drown out and pep. Regarding our fight songs, mas maganda kung kakantahin ng pep ito themselves. Mas astig. Then the whole crowd will follow just like in a US NCAA football or basketball game. But the important thing is kailangan sumunod ang crowd. One observation regarding our pep. I think they should go down sa lower levels during games and not stay among themselves in the bleachers during games. Before, ganyan naman talaga ewan ko lang kung bakit nawala.

i think ok lang naman yung brass bands.

but you know what, the coolest instrument being played is something from FEU...yung parang drums not played with the sticks ... but by hand lang. i don't really know what they call that instrument pero when it is played you feel something different...para kang nakakarinig ng jamaican beat and you wanna groove out with it...cool instrument.

minsan nga lang nga, yung brass bands hindi na bagay yung tugtog o pang-asar na lang, pero still depende pa rin sa tinutugtog nila. but they, i mean the brass instruments, would carry out a better tune specially with the singing of the alma mater hymns. minsan kasi masagwa pag drums lang eh, sa ateneo lang ata bumabagay atchaka kung maraming kakanta ng hymn, kahit wala ng drums....minsan talaga masagwa at sintunado pag drums, lalo na pag solemn, parang marcha ng patay, eh. =)

The brass bands are okay. They're good. But let's just say that sometimes they're just "not right" for a basketball game. Imagine, cheering your team with the Voltes V theme? Need I say more? =)

Maybe some members of the DLSU Pops Orchestra should be present during the Archers' big games para mas lively yung atmosphere, at may pambara sa cheers at jeers ng kalaban.

CAN THE UAAP BOARD GIVE A SANCTION TO BANDS THAT PLAY THE VOLES V THEME (AND OTHER PATHETIC TUNES), AND TO **** THAT DANCE AROUND LIKE LUNATICS DURING THE GAMES?

IT'S DEGRADING TO THE LEAGUE.

Forget the band, let's use the De La Salle Chamber Ensemble na lang! Imagine Mozart or Bach being played on the plaintive strains of the violin while Ritualo-soars-for-a-two-handed-360-degree-tomahawk-slam! Hanep! Parang NBA...

From what I've read, the reason why the band discontinued playing in UAAP matches is that the bandmaster and the band members had conflicting schedules, and that they've been getting negative feedback from the alumni who said that the music they play did not fit with the mood of the Lasallian spectators.

Instead of brass bands mag dala na lang ng electric guitars at drums and synthesizers so that there'll be a new meaning to the word "band".
