Batang Uliran,
I hope you have sanctions against members of this forum who have nothing substantial to contribute. I have seen some whose posts are nothing but stupid and idiotic remarks which have no connection whatsoever to the topic of this forum.
I know it's hard to keep oneself in check when his or her alma mater is involved but for the sake of those who want an intellectual and open-minded exchange of ideas instead of bickering and below-the-belt comments, let's keep it clean. I hate to be redundant but like Don said in one of his posts, to those who have nothing better to do but bash other schools, GET LOST and take you angst elsewhere.
I don't want to see this forum reduced to nothing but a venue for personal prejudices and biases. We have something good here, and I do hope we can keep it that way.
To the forumites, don't forget that what you post here is a reflection not only of who you are but what school you come from. You don't even have to tell us what school you're from because even an imbecile can tell from your posts.
Do not bring shame to your university because of your own bigotry.

Ada:
We hear you. Rest assured, we are monitoring things rather closely but our basic philosophy is for the forum to be a free discussion of ideas. We too have noted that there have been some posts that are not wholly relevant to the topic being discussed but we have chosen to let these go for now. As much as possible, we want this to be your forum for your thoughts and your ideas and we really don't want to go in and start censoring things. I will promise you though that if certain members repeatedly post inane and insulting and derogatory things then we will send them warnings by private email and if they don't heed these we will revoke their posting privleges. We've just started and we hope that our members act like mature adults and not like unruly kids. I fully agree with you that we should keep everything above board and respect each other's point of view.
BTW, congrats on going from junior member to Member! I think you are the first one.

I agree to both of you! All of us should be responsible enough to post clean and decent messages.

I also agree wholeheartedly with Ada. Someone please tell off that Chuckie Reyes and Francis character. Those kinds of people make me glad I chose Katipunan over Taft for college though I had spent my formative years in La Salle.
I also agree with the administrator though. Let's keep this board uncensored. Anyway, Ada's statement said it all. What we say is a reflection of our school. Too bad then for those whose only aim in life is to claim they have glamour by basking in the past glory of their school. They even go all the way to reciting the names of prominent alumni (it's alumni, not alumnis). Maybe, you should include Michael Locsin and Janet Arnaiz in your list.
By the way, to that guy who said that only Ateneo can match DLSU's glamour : please, dont drag our school down to your level by making those statements. We're much better than that. By making those statements, you showed we are also much better than you. We are a class act; you're not. I hope your school (which I still consider my alma mater) still is.

Things can be said in jest and in fun...walang pikunan. All of us had done it one time or another siguro. From rl, to jacob, to rockgardener, to marooned, to chuckie reyes, even kaboom, myself, jeremy darwin, greeneagle...all of us had made some sort of jest or remark against other schools. Pero ok lang, coz generally, it was made in the spirit of fun which happens in any social circle. Even in our own family, we always "debate" about Ateneo-La Salle.
I could not stand however, the comments made by those two La Salle fans (about hazing and raping in the campus). Those kind of stuff has no place in any decent forum. It is a delicate matter and should not be said whether in jest or as pang-alaska. Sure, they might claim that all they want to do is warn the other members of this message board about dangers in that campus. Pero, cmon, we're not as stupid as you are. We all know you said that sentence to spite UP people.
As greeneagle said, you definitely are lacking in class and breeding. I hope there are no other ones like you in La Salle coz it doesnt bode well of your school. If the "rektikano" spirit is burning in you, someone better douse off your flames coz you're a disgrace. I am proud of Ateneo, and I respect UP, and I know La Salle is a good school too. But I never would sink to such low depths as Chuckie Reyes and Francis did. Animo La Salle? Tama si gDawal, mag-aral muna kayo.

I'm glad some of you share my sentiments.
Batang Uliran: It's reassuring to know that the msgs here don't go unnoticed. Thanks for the congrats. Didn't notice it myself 'til you pointed it out. :)
Greeneagle: Yes, no censorship. Heaven knows we already have enough of that in our country. ;)

Nice one, Ada! Though I have not read the demeaning remarks of these guys, I think I share your sentiments. We should discuss sensible things here.
Congrats on your membership! GOD BLESS!

Congratulations, Ada, on becoming a (drum roll, please) MEMBER! So how do we drop the "Junior", O Mighty Batang Uliran?
As for my rants and raves, sad to say, my fellow La Sallites Chuckie and Francis do deserve to be dumped on, but when you do so, could you all please refrain from generalizing? I mean, nakakapikon din na nadadamay niyo 'yung La Salle kung pagagalitan niyo yung dalawa. I just wish you'll be more careful in phrasing your rebuttals. Focus on those guys, not on the group where they belong. That way you'll prevent more fanatics (like me) from getting on your case.
Yung asaran, okay lang, basta in good taste (maski green) at nasa lugar.

They were really out of line. Greeneagle, ano naman ang masama by having Michael Locsin and Janet Arnaiz as some of our alumni? Dapat bang ikahiya iyon? another thing, wala rin namang masama kung mag bask ka sa past glory basta huwag ka lang magyayabang sa iba. Don't tell me hindi yan ginagawa ng Ateneo, kung hindi lagi na lang pinagdidiinan ng Ateneo that ERAP is our alumnus na hindi naman ginagawa ng Mapua who can also claim Erap as one of their own. It's also a good thing that you transferred school because you are the kind of people that we don't need. Just a reminder, huwag kang magmalinis because no matter what, you cannot take the green blood out of you anymore. Review what you wrote, "Don't drag us to your level...we're much better than that... we are a class act...", brod, sorry na lang pero salita ito ng isang mayabang na tao. men for others?.....tsk..tsk...tsk
I would like to apolize to people if I sound too personal in this reply of mine. You were all right to catigate those 2 LaSallites for saying those stupid things, but as Don said please don't generalize because there are good people too from LaSalle as there are also people like those 2 LaSallites in Ateneo, UP or any other school for that matter.

I share Don's sentiments. Let's not be pluralistic in our comments. Let's spare the other people who try their best to uphold the dignity of their schools. And yes the jokes are fine. Let's not just go below the belt. :)

ang galing nung pagkasabi ni don and rektikano. let's not generalize. not that i don't understand where greeneagle's comments are coming from. after i first read chuckie and francis's comments, the first reply i wanted to post was similar to greeneagle's. kaso, yun nga, baket pa papatulan, diba? but rektikano said it right: sa lahat naman may bad apple eh.
yung kay Ginny pa ang okay okay, like when she said she hopes there are no one else like them coz it does not bode well of lasalle. she limited her criticism bale.
the alaskahans are fine with me also. do know where to stop though. mentioning the rape incidents which was obviously done to spite our school is way out of line. let's limit it naman kahit sa pagandahan ng campus, patalinuhan, things that can be said and taken in jest as long as one has the proper attitude.

I was just wondering...how come Lasallites are always the favorite topic in many discussions? As in lahat yata ng mga sinasabi namin binabantayan nyo...from the expression of our love for our Universityr to a simple grammatical error....some people just love scrutinizing every bad remark that we say. Well anyway, at least we still play a major role in this board...sabi nga nila...."Bad publicity is still publicity!" Kahit puro kantyaw, tukso, at asar ang inaabot namin. We're just simple guys who love our dear alma mater so much. Sabi nga ni Karl Velhagen( is this his real name?), president of the DLS Alumni Association, "We do not claim that we're better than other schools, it's just our culture here is much different...We dearly express our love for dear old De La Salle in a very positive and public way!" Animo La Salle! Wherever you are!!!!!

And I agree with Don...we should not generalize; the fault of a person is not reflective of all persons in his organization. And all schools have their own bad students/alumni...like that person who murdered a pregnant woman and injured her kids at the Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City all because of a parking space a year ago. He is a graduate of Ateneo, and he's proud of it.

Hmmm..not to offend anybody..but I think
Ateneans and La Sallites are basically from
the same mold. When we dis each other, we
inadvertently cut ourselves down.
I'm not saying one shouldn't have absolute
pride in their school, but the sardonic and
sometimes inane statements we make leave little to be desired. It's tolerable and
understandable during pubescence, but one should know the difference soon after.
Jesting and flippant remarks are ok,
especially when they're funny....But statements inciting rape and hazing?..Where
in the heck did that come from? Please..let
me send you some KGB to mellow you out.
There's something terribly wrong and
hypocritical when we attack each other with
words that hurt...what with our country's
overwhelming inequalities and economic
strife?...I'm sure if someone from outside this circle read some of the postings here, he or she would either die from laughter or writhe from embarrassment.
That's just this old farts opinion.
Peace
Archerdude,
You're absolutely right..there are bad
apples from either schools..
From the outside looking in..one would be hard pressed to notice a difference..
What with both Ateneans and La Sallites
stepping out of the same model Benz, teeing off from the same tee at Wack-Wack etc..
So..I guess the real question is..( well
definitely mine at least )..what have I
done to help my fellow man?..I can tell you
with all honesty that it hasn't been much..
But God has just helped me to learn how
to love myself..and from there will come the
strength I need to help others...There are
those who've spent a gazillion years at
Ateneo and never got the point.
Peace to you all.
