It's too bad that all the focus has been on the Men's basketball event whenver UAAP season begins. What about the other sports? Currently, the men's and women's volleyball teams are also competing, as well as women's basketball teams. Junior games are also ongoing as well. Can anyone tell me the status of the teams in these events? Also, can there be more coverage of these sports?

Aside from basketball I've seen UAAP volleyball and football coverages in Channel 4, though I don't know if they're also aired by Silverstar. Sana nga kahit na ibang games pinapalabas din sa TV. At tsaka sana yung UP Webpage meron ding official UAAP website para sa updates kagaya ng ginawa ng La Salle and UE when they hosted the tournament. At tsaka chatroom sa MIRC.

I think kaya basketball lang ang ini-air dahil its simply popular, which means it has more sponsors. Atchaka, the main reason na basketball lang ang may pro league, which implies na if you like a player, and you think he's gonna make it someday, pwede mong subaybayan hanggang maging "the legend" sya, diba. Yung ibang sports, usually finals lang ang pinapalabas sa tv, like for volleyball (men and women) tapos highlights pa. Siguro if the other sports would get sponsors, pwede ding i-air.

One more thing is the venues of the other sports. Syempre Silverstar or even the media covering the games should have ample, comfortable spaces for their write-ups and coverages, diba. May nabasa nga ako about sport-writers na medyo nagrereklamo about the facilities being offered by the UAAP, minsan daw walang telephone and computers ... type-writers lang daw ang meron, medyo jurassic ang dating.

About the hosting ng DLSU and UE ng UAAP with matching website, actually I think they made it after the season na. I mean its not really a day to day update. They were final results. If UP, being this seasons host, could sponsor an updated site, well and good, diba.

I used to be a member of the few, loud and proud DLSU Pep Squad. There was then a bitter reaction about the squad throwing its strength in basketball games. In response, we tried to send at least two drummers to support other games.

Perhaps its only fair to give some attention to other sports but life is short to give fairness. We just have to face it, basketball is what draws crowd to the UAAP. As a matter in fact, it's only basketball that UAAP earns. I haven't experienced being asked for tickets in other sports. Not even the La Salle-Ateneo soccer championship could demand tickets from fans.

Hmm...La Salle and UST are vying for first place in the volleyball men's tourney, I think. They had a game last Sunday, but, due to the rains, I haven't been getting my newspapers...any results (corrections, even), on this?
SOmething I'm looking forward to is the PBA-UAAP badminton championships. Last I heard (about two years ago), Ateneo had lost its men's championship crown, with UP getting it back. I think Ateneo is still in the running this season, but UP's definitely the team to beat.
Football is something interesting to look forward too, as well...but they won't be starting until the second semester. What I hear from Ateneo and LaSalle friends though, is that DLSU is priming to kick some serious butt, both in the men's and women's leagues.
I'm thinking, though, that the UST and Ateneo squads would like to prove them wrong.

it's almost the same pa rin 5 years after...

i have to admit...we're always complaining every admu-dlsu game because we don't hava press row coz...i won't say anything further...there's still typewriters and fax...kasi yung iba meron nang laptops (especially if you're working with the newspaper's big three!)

publicity-wise...maganda naman ang space ng other uaap sports...like what TODAY is doing...they have this uaap special every thurs...me, i do show results of other sports, space permitting and if i have time i'll cover other sports like chess (i'll be around tomorrow), volleyball (in the morning) and swimming...

don't worry...we at the press are doing fine...i'll sit again at the floor tomorrow, hehe! :)
