have you used a corset or a girdle to shape your waist or trim your abs? do they work? i saw rufa mae quinto on tv saying she used a binder to shape her figure. what product could she be talking about? how about ab-exercise machines? are any of those effective?

before i remember using abflex and it worked naman, but you really have to do it regularly and watch what you eat. :)

Short of liposuction, there's no such thing as "spot reduction" focusing on trimming the tummy. Ab-machines and crunches are fine ... you can do 100 to 1000 repetitions if you like but for as long as that layer of fat remains around your tummy, you won't appreciate or see the effects of all those abdominal workouts. Perhaps the initial positive effect of abdominal workouts is that they strengthen the abdominal muscles to counter the gravitational pull on the layer of fat around your waistline. So if you contract your abdominal muscles, you get a "tucked in" look.

Developing a "slim" waistline is an entirely different story. Fat stores can be reduced through aerobic exercise and dieting. But it doesn't select which part goes first, it burns uniformly all over. So the area with the thickest layer of fat goes last. You'll just have to huff, and puff and sweat it out .... or eat less fat and calories than what you expend and you're guaranteed to slim down. Have you ever seen those photos of malnourished people or emaciated prisoners of war? Talk about lean, mean machines!

There's no other substitute to a healthy and well-balanced diet. Try tuna (in brine) in wheat bread every morning. Drink lots of water or fresh fruit juice. For exercise, do push ups, sit ups, & lots of curls. You can survive and achieve your "dream" waistline even without fully relying on gadgets.

i'm thin. stick straight. the ab roller really helped me a lot. gave me a smaller waist, hence, some sort of shape. :) they're very easy to use and supports the neck really well. i have scoliosis, but i don't have any problems using my ab roller.

the first 2 weeks, you'll have to watch what you eat... especially if you're like me na walang exercise kahit konti. coz you're body will react to the calories being burned and you'll end up eating more than usual. let your body adjust. and after that, you'll be fine.

you have to use the ab roller on a regular basis. whether its everyday, or every other day. stick to your schedule. its so easy to say, "ay, babawi na lang ako bukas" and before you know it, the poor thing will be gathering dust and your abs are all flabby again.

you should see results within 6 weeks or so, depends on how much you exercise. and don't forget to breathe! most people tend to hold their breath when they do crunches.

also, its not the quantity of the crunches, but the quality of it. 10 proper crunches is much better than 20 wrong ones.

as for the binders... they're temporary fix-its. wacoal and maidenform sell these corset-like undergarments.

good luck :)

i lost more than 60 lbs and 10 inches and some of my acquaintances thought that i was on drugs...piece of advice: Exercise alone won't help...you'll stay as wide as ever if you don't control your eating...as they say you should eat right...One more thing...crunches can help in lessening those unwanted inches on your waist, while push-ups can help tone and firm-up your body...

in my case: i lost all those in about 12 - 14 months...but i became somewhat anorexic because of my abstinence from food...i ate only one meal a day then...i did lose some of my unwanted pounds and inches in a small amount of time but i became sickly...and my fever then lasted for a few weeks...it's good that my eating habits are normal now but i do about 50 push-ups and crunches daily...i'm only maintaining my weight and figure right now...

So do your exercise(preferably those like push-ups and crunches) combined with some dieting but not too much...or you'll regret it!

I think the ab rollers are best because they mimic the movement we make when doing crunches. I've read somewhere that abflex can induce internal hemmorhage or broken ribs--no joke.

better do crunches.

However, some people say that spot reductions are not really possible. The best thing to do is exercise and reduce overall weight and size talaga.
