Is anyone here a member of S&R Price Club (at Fort Bonifacio Global City)? I'm thinking of becoming a member but before I do, I'd like to know from you guys how good their grocery selections are or if they offer other imported items you won't find elsewhere?
How does it compare with Price Smart and all the other warehouses out there? Thanks?

I'm a member. I'm not familiar with Price Smart, but the variety of products in S&R Price sure is a heck of a lot better than the junk they offer in Makro.

From the press releases I've been reading, Price Smart ( a US-based warehouse outlet with branches in Asia and the Caribbean) has already opened and is located also in Fort Bonifacio. I'm beginning to think that Price Smart and
S & R Price are one and the same. Can anyone clarify this? :)
How's S&R Price's imported selection? Any better than Duty Free, Rustan's or UniMart's? :)

Ira, how do you become a member? Do you just fill out an application or kelangan corporation ka pa?

Price Smart and S & R Price are connected in some way. I forgot the exact details, but either the owners are the same, or that the owners of Price Smart had a falling-out and one of them opened S & R, I'm not sure which. It's not like Unimart, kasi it's warehouse type, and they even sell car tires there. Think more like Price Club in the US.
bugsbunny: There was a sales team that came to our village and facilitated our application form. We applied for Corporate Membership, so other than the application, we had to give them copies of our corporation's SEC registration, this year's business permit, and one other form (income tax? I'm not so sure about the last requirement). Then you pay a certain amount of fee. There's also another type of membership (sort of like individual member lang) that's less stringent on requirements for those who don't want corporate membership, but you still have to produce some papers, nonetheless.

you have to go to s&r price club to be a member. dun yung signing up for the membership e. d kelangan na corporate. may diamond member saka business member... annual yung bayad. 1200 ata per year nun sa diamond e.
i think the prices are cheaper ksa yung sa other shops. except lang sa mga gamot na konting konting konti lang ang difference.
yung pizza dun 300+ lang pero malaki. 18" ata ang diameter e. pero limited yung flavors.

S&R Price is the real PriceCostco members-only retailer from the US. The original Pricesmart in the South was a joint venture between the same and a local retailer (Ever, I think), but is no longer supported by the US company.
Prices of imported goods can be quite low. A certain baby stroller, for example, is 25% cheaper at S&R Price than at Rustan's, SM, or Landmark. Same goes for wet&dry shopvacs. There are things which can't be found elsewhere, like 2.4Ghz cordless phones, for example.
Local commodities are not really cheaper compared to Makro or even Rustans supermarket. Computer hardware can be overpriced (especially their HP printer!). White appliances are priced somewhat average. They're still completing their intial stock-in, I hope they'll bring in more unique stuff.

hi. i've been to both s&r and price smart and they look practically the same to me except for a few details. u get from them stuff u usually get in the supermarkets plus some imported items, only u have to buy them in large volumes or by bulk. they sell the same pizza, churros, hotdog sandwich, etc. (i love price smart's mango or blueberry cheesecake!!!)
in my opinion though i like price smart better because it's less crowded (u'll feel less harassed and stressed out in price smart coz there r no crowds and long lines) , it's nearer my house, and they sell practically the same stuff. even the layout of s&r is almost exactly like price smart's.
Just a warning: Never, ever go to S&R after office hours or during weekends. The crowd is just horrible. You can hardly move, and even getting a shopping cart is already a major headache. The best time to go there would be when it opens at 9 a.m. (8 a.m. for corporate members) during weekdays.
