Ateneo and DLSU did not go head-to-head in any of the exams you mentioned. If they did, Ateneo will undoubtedly win. Just look at the inter-collegiate competitions where Ateneo and DLSU competed against each other. Ateneo's dominance is unquestionable even in computer-related events, DLSU's self-proclaimed strength.
Check out the ongoing Asians Debating Tournament which is being held in CSB as we speak. Ateneo is kicking *** in that event. DLSU looks like a third rate school, comparatively speaking.

I thought DLSU is the best in Computer Science. Is this true or plain hype? If it's true, then why is DLSU losing to Ateneo?

Where's DLSU?
How about the Clash of the Brains 2000? The battle of the best of the best in math, sciences, and general knowledge. Guess who won? Not DLSU for sure. Once again, it's Ateneo.
Further, read below and see how your so-called "ranked higher" school is faring.
Never before in the history of Ateneo de Manila University has so many inter-collegiate competitions in business and related fields been won in a single school year! The Ateneo School of Management has won five so far, and a possible six! The current school year also marks the first year of the Ateneo School of Management, which is a merger of what used to be the Management Department and the Management Engineering Department.
The string of victories started with “Stat-is-eeks”, an annual quiz on statistics organized by the UP Statistical Society held last 16 September 2000. Ateneo won over two other UP Diliman teams in the race for the top three places. The 2000 Inter-Collegiate Finance Competition organized by the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX) was next. Held on October 16 & 17, more than 40 teams competed. Joining for the first time, the Ateneo team broke the record by posting the highest points ever during the elimination rounds, missing only 3 questions. UP Diliman and DLSU came in second and third place respectively. On 24 November 2000, during the final round of marketing plan presentations at the Manila Hotel, the Ateneo team again emerged first place in the Integrated Marketing Communications Competition organized by the Philippine Association of National Advertisers (PANA).
The fourth victory came on 24 February 2001 when Ateneo won the 2001 ORSP National Quiz Contest organized by the Operations Research Society of the Philippines. The Ateneo team’s lead in this contest was commanding, with 100 points ahead of the second placer (UP Los Banos), while the second placer was only 20 points ahead of the third placer (DLSU). Operations research is an area of management science which forms the core of the major subjects of students in the BS Management Engineering program.
The fifth competition, the first eBusiness Plan Competition organized by the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP), saw all three Ateneo teams sweep the top three places. This had its elimination round in January, with the top five finalists presenting their business plan on 15 March 2001 at Hotel Intercontinental to a distinguished panel of judges made up of CEOs from the country’s top telecommunications and information technology companies. The judging was done using a “blind panel” format wherein the judges did not know the school of the contestants. This contest is unique in that it requires business plans to use the Internet as a core strategy in the pursuit of business opportunities. Mapua Institute of Technology came in fourth while Asia-Pacific College came in fifth.
As of press time, the Ateneo team has reached the final round of the first Business Idea Development and Achievement (BIDA) contest organized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Science & Technology (DOST), and Planters Development Bank.
How did it happen?
Dr. Emmanuel T. Velasco, the new dean of the Ateneo School of Management, attributes it to the well-rounded, hands-on, and experiential approach used by the school in training its students, aside from the high quality of students who joined the various management programs. “Students learn to think ‘out of the box’ since they are working with students from the other programs.” Certainly, the merger of the two departments allowed the school to pick the most qualified students from the various management programs in fielding the teams who competed.
Even more surprising is the ability of the Ateneo teams to win contests wherein they are competing against Marketing or Accounting and Finance majors, for Ateneo has no such majors. For instance, in the Inter-Collegiate Finance Competition, the three students in the team fielded by Ateneo had a total of 33 units in finance and accounting. Other teams had total units in the 90 to 120 range. It showed that the general management programs, with sectoral focus such as entrepreneurship, management science, or communications technology, among others, produce students who are just as adept in the functional areas as students who major in them.
Five wins, and a possible sixth, all in one school year!
BOTTOM LINE: Schools can play with stats and numbers to show they have more resources, Internet bandwidth, student applicants, etc. etc. Their students' performances in inter-collegiate tournaments are a more reliable benchmark for how they're faring compared to other educational institutions.
It's obvious, DLSU is no match compared to the Ateneo in academics. Possibly in sports, yes.
That's one of the reasons why I transferred from DLSU to the Ateneo. I will love LSGH for the rest of my life, however, College is a different ballgame altogether and the Ateneo is the better school. It has higher standards, for one, and the students are brighter. I want to be the best I can be by being with and around the best.
PEACE.

The topic refers to annual gov't. given exams not to school contests. Why do insecure Ateneans like you always try to muddle the issue at hand.

Ateneans & Fake "La Sallians" like yourself rely only on RUMORS and your own self-hype.

Gangreen: Well said. Very well said. Pound-for-pound, and objectively speaking, I should say Ateneo is tops. If the Blue Eagles were able to dominate La Salle's top Accounting, Marketing and Finance majors in their own ballgame and so-called "field of expertise", what more if the Ateneo is to offer these specific courses? The wholistic Ateneo education is really something else. Look for the ECE program of the Ateneo to kick butts once it starts producing graduates. I believe the ECE program is just on its 2nd year.

Excuse me, Ateneo (represented then by Jerome de Guzman and two others) was beaten by La Salle during the 1997 Hewlett-Packard IT Quiz, which earned them the right to represent the Philippines in the Asian Info Tech Quiz in Singapore. Point is, winning a contest doesn't necessarily prove the superiority of a school in a particular field; you win some, you lose some.

That's very nice to know. It only goes to show we, Ateneans, are also human and are capable of losing. It keeps us grounded. Although, losing to DLSU is getting too rare. Hope DLSU improves its academic standards so that it can become a worthy competitor of Ateneo.
But then again, our schools have a symbiotic relationship. Where else can our less gifted friends and family members go if they fail ACET? It's comforting to know they'll always have a "home" in Taft to go to. I, myself, was an ACET flunkie and I spent my freshman year in DLSU. But my dream was to "soar with the eagles" and to study in the Ateneo and, fortunately, I finally realized it. Nothing beats being with the best and the brightest. It pulls one up and helps one transcend his/her limitations.
Peace.

Your remarks are quite mean, however, even I cannot deny the fact that the standards in Ateneo are higher than La Salle. It's a bit depressing that we have to admit so many students just so we can finance our over-aggressive expansion. I think La Salle should tighten its admission standards or slow down its expansion plans. Just a personal opinion and I apologize in advance if I offended some of my fellow La Sallians but the deteriorating standards in LS is one of the issues that have been bothering me as well as many others. Peace.

Poor Lasallian,
You're being branded as a fake Lasallite for speaking the truth. I guess if you're not an Ateneo-basher, you are a fake Lasallian. That's how shallow and stupid these low-life people have become. They can't even figure out who's from their own camp. If you were a fighting soldier, imagine yourself getting killed by your very own army (navy in this case).
Blessed are the dumb and ignorant (a.k.a those from the "Smoky Mountain University in Taft", also commonly known as tambakan of ACET and UPCAT flunkies) for they shall eventually be enlightened in the next life, if not in this one. Hopefully, they will be saved from eternal "dumbnation", be reborn as Ateneans, and finally become one of the chosen ones.
Peace.

Your argument is fallacious i.e. A Fortiori Fallacy. You cannot argue that just because you dominate some inter-collegiate competition then it will mean that you will "kick butt" if you offer it. And please stick to the topic. This thread is about GOVERNMENT EXAMS as vinncho pointed out. If you want to discuss about competitions, why not make your own thread or something? The arguments you presented here i.e. Ateneo dominating competitions are not relevant.
Side note:
I really don't understand why Ateneans and Lasallians have to pick on each other. I always thought that it is just friendly banter. Competition is healthy but it can also be downright nasty as seen from the posts here. As someone once posted in another thread, Ateneans and Lasallians really do get along with each other e.g. at work or at social events.

…Do we really need to do this? For what purpose…? I can hardly believe it that an ample amount of energy has been wasted for uncertain cause. Cool it down my fellow Ateneans as well as Lasallians. I do agree that competition might as well provide a worthy and healthful cause… But let us not put it into reality that loosing a friendly competitor should be the cost it pays for the winner(included pati unworthy competitor na rin). Atenean spirit advocates that for every competition he is into… His sole opponent is himself, despite of the massive competitors around him. It’s a matter of putting the “MAGIS SPIRIT” into action…Doing things beyond the self-capability or self–limitation, doing more from what is being demanded, rising above from mediocrity (Can’t blame us ‘cause that’s d’way we’re trained). Right now, if you wanna now, I’m working at UP-DILIMAN together with my fellow ATENEANS from all over the country (Manila, Zamboanga, Davao, and Xaviers), UPIANS (Diliman, Manila, Los Banos, Visayas, and Mndanao), LASALLIANS (Taft, and Das Ma), and from CLSU. We all make a good team, we get well along with each other, we always do our best in our job with humble salary as a reward, and most of all we always have a lot of FUN together… Moreover, the institution that we’re into is the most awarded and prestigious institute in UP Diliman, which clearly is attributed to our diversed effort.
I beg to stop this worthless dispute 'cause we can work together for a better goal. "Pro Deo et Patria"
