is the tuition fee hike by some schools for the incoming SY reasonable?

It would obviously be reasonable if the college really needs the money but the hard part is explaining why (for them) and believing (for us, students). That's pretty much it.

I don't know, but a lot of people are feeling the pinch. I don't know why a 10% tuition fee was necessary though. :(

here's where your Student Councils can be of use. they are your conduits to the school administration to know where the school budget is being allocated to.

in Ateneo, we have at least two members of the Student Council sit on the Committee meetings with the faculty and administrators and take part in discussions where we decide whether to put more money into this and less money into that. And why the budget needs to be increased for next year.

Also we have consultative meetings between the Deans and the students. When we had this a year ago and the same question was raised, the answer was quite reasonable.

nice insights, especially that of ginoledesma and ricey. we cannot make a generalized statement because each school has its own justifications. so citing the situation of our own school will put us in better argument simply because more or less we know what really is happening.

but i know, thru others, some schools that are planning to collect higher tuition yet having no improvement even in the basic services they offer.
