As a Lasallian, one of our advantages is the lower expectations people have of us. We don't have to excel unlike the Ateneans. We can just be ordinary, fun-loving human beings and enjoy life for whatever it has to offer.

I totally agree. There's always so much pressure on us Ateneans to perform that's why we prioritize our careers over families. We are very obsessed about how much money we make and what position we have attained. In a way, it has been bad for us because we have grown so insecure of La Sallites, who seem to have found a balance between work and family. Since they are not under as much pressure as us, they can more freely go about their work, and that's why they do well. Our egos simply cannot take it when a La Sallite becomes more successful than an Atenean especially since this seems to happen more regularly lately.

That's why in order to appear on top, we resort to sourgraping, whining, backstabbing, character assasination, and hyped-up press releases. In short, we use every trick in the book just to avoid La Sallites from getting ahead of us. We believe everyone has a price so we'll be okay since we have plenty of cash reserves to finance our tactics. Those La Sallites can have their families just as long as we get the money for we believe it is the one true measure of success.

La Sallians:

1. Better Bred
2. RELY only on SOLID FACTS
3. Far more Successful in their Professional Lives
4. More religious & God-fearing
5. Become Prime Movers in Philippine Business
6. More Intelligent

Ateneans:

1. Many poorly bred
2. RELY on rumors, their biased own self-hype & lies
3. Less successful than La Sallians in their later lives
4. Some degenerate into corruption & crime (ERAP, Enrile, Inocencio Gonzales, Atty. Ed Serapio, etc.)

As a Lasallian from DLSZ, I would also like to add that we tend to have more time to enjoy life, party, and have fun while studying since it is not as academically demanding in La Salle as in the Ateneo. We also do very well in sports since we can recruit better and more physical players since our admission standards are not as tough as Ateneo's. Our student body is also more representative of the Philippine society because we tend to attract students of average intelligence whereas the top universities like UP and Ateneo tend to get the very bright ones who hardly represent real society. Overall, we have the advantage of being average, normal, more human, and, therefore, more real and down to earth.

Go Lasalle!!!!!

I guess politicians have inherited the "Ateneo Syndrome". Just look at some of them whining, sourgraping, fabricating stories of cheating. Just like what Joe Lipa did after losing the final 4 in 1999, the politicos acted like they were the victim. The Atenean motto must be: " There are winners, and there are the ones cheated". Sure is one contagious motto. Now we all know why Erap is very good at playing the role of the oppressed.

Colby00,

In addition to Gloria Arroyo and her husband Mark, there are numerous Ateneans who are serving in the "current" government such as the ones I listed below in alphabetical order. If we were to list all who served in the past administrations as well as the leading Ateneans in business, I am afraid PEX will run out of space. It will dwarf DLSU's list. Here's a partial listing of Ateneans in the current government.

Hon. Pantaleon D. Alvarez, Secretary, Department of Transportation & Communications
Hon. Sergio Antonio F. Apostol, Chairman, Philippine National Oil Company
Her Excellency Gloria M. Arroyo, President of the Philippines
Comm. Rene G. Banez, BIR Commissioner
Atty. Hans Leo J. Cacdac, Director, DOLE
Atty. Jose C. Calida, Undersecretary, Department of Justice
Atty. Guillermo N. Carague, Chairman, Commission on Audit
Sec. Renato C. Corona, Presidential Chief of Staff
Mr. Thelmo O. Cunanan, President & CEO, PNOC
Dr. Manuel M. Dayrit, Health Secretary
Mr. Ramon T. Garcia, President, Philippine Stock Exchange
Hon. Richard J. Gordon, Secretary of Tourism
Hon. Teofisto T. Guingona, Vice President & Secretary of Department of Foreign Affairs
Mr. Cesar M. Jayme Jr., President & CEO, AFP-RSBS
Atty. Simeon V. Marcelo, Solicitor General, PNOC
Mr. Vitaliano N. Nanagas II, President & CEO, Social Security System
Mr. Norberto C. Nazareno, President , PDIC
Usec. Ernesto M. Ordonez, Undersecretary Agri-Business, Department of Agriculture
Hon. Hernando B. Perez, Secretary, Department of Justice
Hon. Raul Ch. Rabe, Special Presidential Envoy to the Americas & Islamic Nations
Mr. Fidel V. Ramos, Presidential Envoy, World Economic Forum
Sec. Alberto G. Romulo, Secretary, Department of Finance
Mr. Roberto R. Romulo, Senior Adviser, International Competitiveness
Hon. Manuel A. Roxas II, Secretary, Department of Trade

Lasallites tend to have more fun. They love to party and go to gimiks. They have less academic pressure since it is easier in La Salle than in Ateneo. Ateneans are too intense in their quest for excellence and forget how to enjoy life.

In general, Lasallites have an easier time in studying since it is less academically demanding in DLSU compared to Ateneo. This gives us more time to socialize, play sports, etc. Lasallites also have a more "fun" outlook toward life. They're more relaxed and easy-going. Ateneans tend to be too competitive and too intense. Too much studying, I guess.

If we were to list all who served in the past administrations as well as the leading Ateneans in business, I am afraid PEX will run out of space. It will dwarf DLSU's list. Here's a partial listing of Ateneans in the current government.

Ateneans are always pressured to succeed. Just look at that short list of successful Ateneans. Sometimes I wish that I went to Lasalle instead. There I could just slack off, party all day, and watch basketball games with much gusto since we always win. Just look at my would be smart classmates, Adonis "Babyface" Sta. The fact that there are many Ateneans in the highest echelons of government and business is testament to the saying, "the cream rises to the top." It's quite an impressive feat given the fact that the Ateneo is only about a third of the size of DLSU since Ateneo is not into mass production (a.k.a. the diploma milling industry). The other fact that the Philippine nation is in such a sorry state is due to many factors (economic, social, cultural, political), among which is the poor quality of education which is best exemplified by the "Smoky Mountain University" (a.k.a. tambakan) in Taft.

As I have observed, there are far more posts of ateneans than Lasallians in this thread. I guess, it's just a manner of respecting each others opinion on the matter. If you find the topic a little absurd or could insinuate school bashing then the best way to do is not to grab the lure. The way we post our topics in this thread speaks of who we are as a person whether we be ateneans or Lasallians/Lasallites.

Succintly said. I fully agree.

You see, Ateneans and Lasallians can agree on some things.

Peace.

Ruckus, what is it with our basketball athletes that you have to belittle them this much? Just coz they can shoot balls doesnt mean that they have to be "PERFECT" like you. You degrade them so much that I want to see you in person to see if you are a handsome, intelligent and macho guy. Gangreen, excuse me but if you really do think that La Salle is a school that is that chicken, then I fear that maybe the Philippine Education System is about to fall coz they made La Salle one of the top 3 schools here in the Philippines.

Thank you!

Lets look at it this way .. short and simple!

Okay atenean alumni got the brains, I admit .. but their breeding is poorly brought up.

POLITICIANS
-Most of them are corrupt.
-Most of them are "balimbing"(just ask the current president!)
-Most of them does not think of the people but only themselves and political ambitions!
-Etc.

BUSINESSMEN
-Monopolizing the industries
-Tax evaders
-Etc.

ACTORS/ACTRESSES
-yuck (dingdong dantes)
-yucky lalo!!! (ANTOINETTE TAUS)
-etc.

Fewer LaSallians go to the top of the political arena because of their breeding and how they are taught about the people who the politicians are supposed to be serving and not their right, left and back pockets!

peace in St.La Salle!!!

Hmmmmmm.....esep....esep..(counting one to ten and taking deep breaths).... I am tempted to respond but I will restrain myself. However, if I hear more negative or self-serving comments from you, whether subtle or not, I will be tempted to push my "red button" once again and unleash a nuclear bomb response. But for now, peace.
