Has anyone tried booking online at any of the local online booking travel sites? how do you find it?

yup, i tried travelsmart when i went to boracay.
the price for their resort listings (one of them at least)was not up to date. so useless yung form that i filled up.
We ended up doing our transaction over the phone.
I went to their office to pay pero pwede rin ata na sila ang mag pick-up.

Most of the time you get the best deal on airline tickets online. I book my tickets online all the time, through expedia.com or travelocity.com.

would you say it's more convenient than the traditional way of making reservations (going to a travel agency, making calls, etc.)?

Yes, I do - here and abroad. I have tried booking with http://www.asiatravel.net last year and then on a more frequent basis, I book with http://www.placestostay.com for hotels abroad.

we've tried expedia.com, supposedly they have the lowest rates daw for airfare... they didn't! the price difference was almost $200/head!
stick to travel agencies - harass ur agent na lang to get the best deal... online booking doesn't always work!

You bid with how much you want to pay for the tickets. In your short, you bid your own price. My friend bought a ticket from Conneticut to San Diego roundtrip for only $175. I use cheaptickets.com too.
