Hi,
We are currently looking for a 3-bedroom condo/apartment unit located either in central part of Singapore. Here are our preferences:
1) Fully furnished (with attached closet in each of the bedrm, with washer/dryer, etc)
2) 5-15 mins walk to MRT. (either on Aljunied, paya lebar, eunos, bedok, novena, newton, somerset)
3) Accesible to shopping centres and market.
Please pm me if you know a condo unit for rent that matches our preferences above. Thanks.
anyone? thanks!

i don't want to rain on your parade, pero it is almost impossible for any company to get an employment pass for new grads. the company might want to hire her, pero grabeng paliliwagan ang gagawin nila sa MoM. the only one i can think of is yung mga nag-ojt na HRM students. i don't know if you consider waiting tables to "janitorial or the like" but thats the only route i know - going in as student.
unless of course if she comes here as a dependent pass holder.

Yes, your son(s) will be required to do 2 years of military service.
national service is not confined to military. my friend's ns required him to serve as a fireman. another mate was in the police. i also know one who was doing traffic work... as for military, some of them are sent to brunei to train.

yes the men serving ns as policemen are stationed in bedok. but they seem to be very few and oddly enough constrained to malays.

not all are malays though. some are indians and chinese. i'm not sure how one is assigned to serve in army, police, or others but most do serve in the army. i used to hangout with my mate (who's malay) and he served in the police. they were usually present at recruitment roadshows and i saw that they are not all malays.

newly grads shouldn't hesitate to apply here in SG. most companies here who has hired filipinos (experienced or newly grads) knows how good and hardworking we are. everyone has to start or get an experience somewhere. hindi mahirap i-train ang pinoy kaya if the company really sees your capability they are willing to fight for you to get that EP you deserve. the question now is how willing is she to look for a job? kung tambay lang sa bahay at hindi masipag maghanap, hindi lalapit sa kanya ang trabaho. jobhunting here in SG involves a lot or preparation. even before she arrives here she should have scanned thru jobsites, submitted online resumes, or listed potential companies she plans to walk-in to apply. konting sipag lang!

can you name the companies that have the clout to give newly grads of a foreign country employment passes?

thats the problem, how can they see your capabilities if you are a new graduate. kahit nga domestic helper dito kailangan pang makapasa sa exam kung walang prior work experience. remember that one should never work here without the proper papers. puwede kang ipadeport and worse i-ban sa pagbabalik dito.:mecry:

If they're up for any job as in ANY JOB, they really shouldn't hesitate. But if they're looking for a job inclined with their course (engr, architect, nurse, IT)...a one big GOODLUCK!!
My advise: If youre a fresh grad, better if you first establish concrete experience in the Phils prior working overseas.

Yeah, he's also my agent.
But you don't need to return the favor on him, style nya talaga yan. My good friend was infact his sub-agent, tinutulungan din sya...laki ng pakinabang nya dun.

NUS is one of the World's Best University. I also have plan of studying there, Im just thinking of what Graduate course to take-up, perhaps MBA...kaya lang mahal ng tuition.
How did you get in by the way? How's the entrance exam?
Goodluck :)

I just took the SAT I and II and sent them a copy of my highschool and university transcripts. There was no entrance exam (unlike NTU). I think it mattered that I've gone through two years of university education here before I applied since they usually require 12 years of general education. Try applying for the graduate scholarships there :)

Hi kelangan ko *** po ng reaction nyo. nagaaply po ako sa isang research lab thru the internet after 2 weeks tnawagan ako and sabi ng hr scheduled daw ako for interview knabukasan. I was interviewed the next day thru phone at inabot *** ng 2 hrs. tpos sbi ng hr they'll contact me next week.dumatging ang next wk at wala me natanggap n email then suddenly nung katpusan ng may tumawag *** hr informing me na i qualified daw sa second interview sa isang hotel ** sa manila. Then the interview day came, there were 3 of us, sabi nung chemist tatawagan nya later in the afternun kung *** *** napili nya for the final phone interview at cyempre dhil maepal ako (hahahaha) tnawagan nya ko kaya *** sbi nya dalawa daw kming npili nya dahil nahihirapan cyang pumili. so balik n naman ako sa hotel para sa final phone interview with the hr and an english speaking national, then after the interview sbi nila the results will be made early next week, stempre dumaan ang mon, tue and wed then nun thur nakatanggap ako ng e-mail na ang sbi " i'm sorry if i was not able to call you yesterday . our discussions are still ongoing and we have not yet reached a decison. i'l try to inform ealy next week tpos sorry ulit sya. then dumaan n naman ang next wk, wlang e-mail so nag-email me then nagreply naman *** nun at ang sbi " I am sorry if the the application process is taking longer than expected. We our still waiting for the budget approval. I'll revert to you as soon as a a decison is made. then after 2 weeks wala pa din so knina tumawag na me sa singapore at knausap ang hr manager at tinanong ko kung ano na ang nagyari sa pplication ko at kung may napili na clang. at sbi naman nya wala pa then ask ko kung kelan *** most probabale time na magkakarun *** ng decisoion sbi nya " within few wks"
Usually singaporeans speak their minds. Walang paligoy-ligoy. So what they said to you was what they meant: wala pang budget to hire you. Another thing: they hire staff very quickly. I would suggest you try other companies if it's taken you more than a month already with the same company, as you said.

Research Labs depend on grants for budgets and the pressure is great because in order to maintain the grants, researchers has to publish in a peer reviewed paper. So kailangan meron laging output.

guys, I badly need your help regarding my friends' problem. she's currently employed in a small time contractor company in kranji as project engineer. she's been working there for 5 months now. pero nakalOko yung contract na pinirmahan nya during job offer.
1. 2 months notice ang resignation??
2. 2 years contract upon hiring??
3. even pregnancy is restricted during her term...buti na lang dalaga pa sya.
4. 7days annual leave??
there's also a lot of internal agreement such as:
1. 12 working hours a day.
2. working during saturdays.
3. No OT pay.
parusa!!!
and take note, she was given a Q1 pass pero below SGD2500 ang salary nya.
she was now hired in one of the leading semiconductor company. but her problem is her contract with her current employer...the reason why she don't resign yet.
questions:
Do MOM can do something to forfeit the contract?
Does MOM have standard policy regarding the grace period you can tender upon your resignation?
any inputs are certainly well appreciated.

Yung kontrata nya ay halos pareho ng una kung pinasukan dito 12 hrs a day no OT claims also working saturday.

I think the SATs are their main criteria for evaluating international students, but the college transcripts serve to give them more information on the background and the qualifications of the applicant. My course here was related to the course that I was applying for there (engineering). I did not qualify for a merit-based scholarship but I am going to take advantage of the Singapore government tuition grant (which they offer to all admitted students) plus a 90% tuition fee loan for the remaining amount not covered by the tuition grant from either DBS or OCBC bank in Singapore (which is interest-free upon graduation and payable up to 20 years). However, I intend to do good there and hope to qualify for a merit-based scholarship in my succeeding years. :D
Preparations... siyempre if you're doing well in your studies here then the SATs won't be much of a challenge since usually high school or first-year college level yung mga tanong sa subject tests. Didn't actually review for the SAT seriously since that time I wasn't too keen on going to Singapore... but when I got admitted, well, it seemed like too big an opportunity to pass up. :)
Medicine is especially competitive, may interviews pa and additional tests. Good luck! :D

here's our plan, magsa-submit ulit ng resignation letter yung friend ko sa monday for the second time around, last thursday kasi syang unang nagpasa e, hindi lang in-acknowledged, instead they offered her a one month unpaid leave, pati loan in-offer sa kanya...and some blah blah blahs...bottomline, her bosses (a couple who also owned the company) don't want her to resign. by the way, she already signed the job offer on her new company and she's just waiting for an e-pass. masyadong matagal yung two months para pag hintayin niya yung bagong company niya.
questions ulit:
TGIS! wala bang magpapainom dyan? hehehe ..>

That place would be Fort Canning, on the other end of the cable car ride.
Most romantic place? Marina South... there's a park there just by the river, with little ponds and flowers and trees and artworks and walkways and stuff... there will be a few other couples there doing who-knows-what, but everyone just wants their privacy there... and the best thing is... it doesn't cost a cent to be there!!! Take the MRT down to Marina Bay, go out of the station and turn left towards the river. Walk time about 12 minutes.

Hi SG Friends,
Need help.
Just came back from SG yesterday & super rush yung employer ko mag start ako don. As in I'll be coming back this July 16 dahil start na ako ng July 17. She said it's ok that I already start working while still processing my EP which we already submitted sa MOM.
So I really don't have a place to stay & I'm browsing the internet for rooms to rent & mostly super expensive. Anybody know there a room that I could rent for a month? I'm estimating by that time I would have a found a more suitable place to stay in. Raffles Place yung work ko so I know super expensive mga condos don so that's out of the question. Anywhere will do basta malapit sa MRT.
Hope someone will help me out. Thanks in advance. You can email me at majdreyes@gmail.com. Thanks.

sir albert_sy2,
I am planning to apply for a PR status before my contract expires in September 2007. I will apply most probably March 2007 so the result will be known by June 2007. If ever na rejected, may time pa para mag-apply ulit. Sa tingin mo ma-approve kaya ako? 3 months ang processing diba, can it be less?
ang alam ko pag nareject yung pr application mo e you need to wait for another 6 months bago ka pede ulit magapply ng pr. it means iadjust mo yung projection mo ng pagaapply. for your info lang kung di mo pa alam up to now.

Hello people. Me and my husband are going to move to Singapore in September.I would like to ask for help from anyone who can give me any ideas regarding living standards in Singapore. I have already did some backreading and was able to get really helpful details. However, I would like to ask in particular the following questions :
1) Is there a condo unit in Singapore with just 1 bedroom and is fully furnished (with bed, sofa, gas range, oven, ref etc.)? If there is, how much do you think this will cost? A price range will really be helpful.
2) Will an amount of SGD 1000 a month be enough for me and my husband? This will include our food (that we will cook in our rented house/condo), his transportation allowance from house to work, and maybe a once a week visit to the mall. A suggested breakdown of expenses will be a lot of help.
I am planning to spend just SGD 2,000 a month for the two of us (Including everything, house/condo rentals, foods, transpo, etc). Do you guys think this is possible? Please help me figure this out. :rotflmao:  :rotflmao: *okay*
albert_sy2
Jul 23, 2006, 02:22 PM
Don't go for a condo. Too expensive. You can rent a whole HDB flat for only $800 and is just as good (sometimes better).
You two should be able get by and spend just around $500 (tipid mode) to $1000 (medyo hindi matipid mode).
Usual total power, water and gas bills = $50 ~ $100 (depende sa habits nyo)
Usual meal (1 person) = $4~6, depende sa trip mo
McDo meal = $6~7
Buy your groceries from NTUC Fairprice.
If you just need chipipay low quality stuff for little things (karayom, shanse, cooking pan, tsinelas, sandong pambahay, sinulid, etc etc), buy at your local town store (not the mall).
Do not take taxis if you can help it.
Rent VCDs/DVDs instead of going to the cinema.
There are many things for you to see and do, some cost $$$, some are actually free.

gretel welcome to singapore and to this board.
spincrass, bawal magdala ng yosi dito sa singapore. it is considered smuggling. puwede yung isang pack, pero dapat nakabukas na.
gretel, merong 1bedroom/studio type. the cheapest one i found is 1k/month, okay na para sa mga pamilyang wala pang anak. but as what pareng albert said, it might be better to go for an hdb. mas mura na, mas malaki pa at most hdb are more accessible than condos.
try to get a place that is as close to your hubby's work para convenient - makakasave sya pag lunch, magkikita pa kayo tuwing tanghali. ;>
2k is definitely more than enough for 2 people. wag ka lang matukso sa mga year round sale dito. minsan kasi mahirap di pansinin yung mga bagong cell phone, yung 70% sale ng mango, yung 50% sale ng timberland, at bagong model ng digital camera. and of course the biggest pitfall of all - the credit card. keep it in check at all times, baka kasi mahulog ka sa mga 36 months to pay na yan. Pleease read the fine print.

Ingat din kayo, bawal ang naka-shorts at naka-tsinelas or sandals. Dapat daw "presentable" lahat ng pupunta doon kaya bawal ang super-casual look nyo doon.

gretel.b,
i think it's impossible for you to find an HDB without an agent. that's how they run businesses here. Singaporeans are so lazy they don't tend to post their own ads, heck, they'll just pay somebody to do the paperwork and just wait for the results.

pwede pong walang agent, mas nakakapagod lang kasi you will do the all the legwork, etc. pero for some its worth the money saved and marami kasi ayaw na makipag deal sa agent. even yung mga friends/colleagues ko umiiwas na sa agent kasi meron mga iba na maraming kalokohan and marami sa kanila nagkaroon na ng bad experiences in dealing with them.
ako po once lang ako nag-engage ng agent, nung unang dating ko dito many moons ago. that horrible experience was enuff for me to shun agents dahil sa sakit ng ulo na inabot namin. since then, ako na naghahanap, kelangan lang sipag, tyaga and of course luck.
of course di naman lahat ng agents ganon pero maraming mga rotten eggs. if you do decide to get an agent, be sure to ask around kasi you have a lot of things to watch out, para di kayo magulangan.
sa internet access, yung cheapest ng starhub eh 58.80, while singtel meron ata 40-50. may mga ads lagi sa papers and u can also check out their respective websites

Usually yung half months rent lang naman ang babayaran mo sa agent, with the other half paid by the unit owner. So kung 800 ang unit, 400 ang babayaran mo for agents fee.
Better check your unit kung may scv connection for cable tv, hindi lahat ng unit meron nito.
Sa rates check mo yung site ng starhub (for cable internet) or singtel (for adsl internet).

tampines is a hub for IT related profession being the data center hub of most of the big banks in singapore.
gretel.b for the 1 room 1 hall that you are looking will most probably get a 2 bedroom 1 hall, but with 1 bedroom locked. however, most of these might be walk-up apartments. meaning they are the older buildings. this means baka hindi lift level yung mahuka mo. kasi noong unang panahon, nung di pa masyadong maunlad ang singapore, ang elevator sa 12 floors na hdb ay tumitigil lang sa 1st, 4th, 6th, 8th at 12th. anyway malalaman mo naman ito pag na view mo na ang unit.

Guys, I would like to ask, are their really instances that an e-pass was rejected? If it was rejected, what are the possible reasons? and ano next move ng employer mo? Thanks peps.
SuPeR_MaN
Aug 11, 2006, 07:20 PM
gretel.b,
it is possible. there are several reasons, like being under or overqualified with the position that you applied for. another is, the quota for EP holders of a certain company has been reached. for example, a company should only have 20% EP holders, other than that, the MOM will reject any EP applications by this company. these are only the few factors that I know. if the application of your EP was rejected, your would-be employer can appeal it. my housemate's EP was rejected on the first try, then it was appealed, then it was rejected again. it was finally approved on the second appeal. but the process for appeals will take a while since they will further evaluate the EP application, most likely 1 month.

Thanks a lot for the reply Superman. That is additional knowledge for me, that their is such thing as a limit for a staffing firm's EP holders. Or are we talking about the te Staffing Firm's client's EP limit? If either of the two is the issue (over quata for E-pass, be it the Staffing Firm side of the Client's side), what will be the worst case scenario? Will their still be a chance for an approval of e-pass?
Again, thanks a lot Superman. Thanks everyone.

Aug 15, 2006, 08:40 PM
AFAIK, the limit is on "foreign talent", doesn't matter what it is... EP, WP, S-pass. The limit is 60% of the company's workforce.

Hi, I'm someone who's confused right now with my career. But to give you an overview, here's my credentials:
I graduated honorable mention at one of the most prestigious universities in our country. My course was Marketing. I worked for a distribution company in their Marketing dept for 8 months. Now, I'm going to China to study the Mandarin language"
My dilemna now is, what will my move be after CHina. My end goal is to save some capital for a business and to have another country as my second country just in case some events happened here in the Philippines.
My questions now are:
1. Is the name of the university in the Philippines important?
2. Are Marketing related works in-demand in Singapore? If not, what are the other fields I can venture into? (Just an info, definitely NOT in IT or any computer/electronics stuff)
3. How should I start? Just look at jobstreet and jobsdb? Then I'm fine na? Meaning, I'll just wait for their call?
4. To those who've been interviewed before, were you interviewed on the phone while in the Philippine or did you have several flights to Singapore for interviews?
5. How would I know if how much should I demand as my starting salary? My situation is in a gray area here. I don't have a minimum of 1 year experience (most companies are looking for this), just 8 months. As what I can see at Jobstreet, starting salary for Marketing related work with no exprience is around S$1500. and that's low considering I still have to pay rent and etc.
6. Will my second language, the Mandarin language be of any advantage when I'm applying?
7. How are your bosses? What's the culture there? Are they like Filipinos who are hospitable and family-oriented?
8. How would I know if the companies looking for hires at internets, be any good? When in Singapore, how would I know where to job hunt and the likes?
9. Do some employers sponsor your flight expenses, housing and utilities expenses?
Thanks and More power! =)

xxtoyxx
Aug 24, 2006, 10:49 AM
Not an expert but I will try to answer some of the questions:
1. Is the name of the university in the Philippines important?
A: Probably is. MOM merits a list of educational institutions in the Philippines in their point system in approving an employment pass.
A list of the educational institutions they recognize here:
http://www.mom.gov.sg/IMD/list+of+qualified+institutions+L-P.htm#philippines
2. <-- No idea.
3. How should I start? Just look at jobstreet and jobsdb? Then I'm fine na? Meaning, I'll just wait for their call?
A: You pray for luck and wait. Apply the 80-20 rule. There might be times where feeling mo you apply and parang walang nangyayari. Keep on applying. If you have a friend in SG, you can ask them to clip job openings from the Straits times every Saturday.
4. To those who've been interviewed before, were you interviewed on the phone while in the Philippine or did you have several flights to Singapore for interviews?
A: In my case, I have had a couple of 2-hour interviews by phone. I just flew to SG when I am ready to start with the job.
A: S$1500 is low if you are alone working in SG. Tip is to establish a nice career in Manila first, and try to fetch huge salary from your Manila work, use it as a launchpad to demand more in SG. Hehehe. It doesn't always work though.
6. Will my second language, the Mandarin language be of any advantage when I'm applying?
A: Very good advantage. I think you can demand huge salary even in the Philippines if you know Mandarin. You can apply not even in SG but also in HK or China as well. :)
7. How are your bosses? What's the culture there? Are they like Filipinos who are hospitable and family-oriented?
A: Case to case basis. I cannot generalize though my boss seems okay. Work is demanding, and assumes that you are very good in the job, though.
8. How would I know if the companies looking for hires at internets, be any good? When in Singapore, how would I know where to job hunt and the likes?
A: Q1: Ask in the Internet, use Google to research. Q2: No idea, applied online only. Maybe target companies that you may be feasible to work with, and walkin, that MAY work.
9. Do some employers sponsor your flight expenses, housing and utilities expenses?
A: You are lucky if you find employers who will pay for everything. I consider myself lucky since I got free airfare, and I did not pay a cent in the processing of my EP.

Post ko lang to regarding PEP naman....got it from MOM website
From MOM
Personalised Employment Pass: A new scheme to facilitate the contributions of global talent to Singapore
The Ministry of Manpower will introduce a Personalised Employment Pass (PEP) from 1 January 2007 to help us better attract and retain global talent. The PEP will facilitate selected Employment Pass holders to continue working in Singapore. The PEP will be granted to suitable EP holders or foreigners who have graduated from our institutions of higher learning, and have worked in Singapore for a period of time.
2 Currently, the issue of an Employment Pass (EP) is tied to a specific employer. Any change of employer requires a fresh application. If an EP holder leaves the company, his EP is cancelled and he must leave Singapore unless he finds employment with a new company. In contrast, the new PEP is not tied to any employer and will be granted on the strength of an EP holder’s individual merits. The PEP allows the holder to remain in Singapore for up to six months in between jobs to evaluate new employment opportunities. This helps us to retain selected global talent who would otherwise have to leave Singapore.
3 There is intensified global competition for talent, and the PEP will strengthen Singapore’s attractiveness to highly skilled foreigners. This will help grow the overall economic pie in Singapore, creating more jobs and opportunities for Singaporeans. Other destinations for foreign talent such as Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia have similar schemes which offer them the flexibility to stay or enter the country for a fixed period of time.
4 The following groups of EP holders will be eligible for a PEP, if they had earned a basic salary of at least S$30,000 in the preceding year:
P1 and P2 pass holders
P Pass holders that have at least two years’ working experience on a P Pass.
Q1 pass holders
Q1 pass holders with at least five years’ working experience on a Q1 pass; and
Foreign students from institutions of higher learning in Singapore
Foreign graduates from institutions of higher learning in Singapore with at least two years’ working experience on a P or Q1 Pass.
(MOM will be flexible in considering individual cases that do not meet the minimum criteria but merit the issuance of a PEP. Refer to Annex A for a summary of the PEP scheme features.)
5 The PEP will be issued only once with a validity of 5 years. It will be non-renewable. A PEP holder will retain the dependant privileges of his original EP type and the minimum annual basic salary requirement of S$30,000 will continue to apply throughout the 5-year duration.
Diba ang saya...*okay*

Good luck floreno.
Don't jump into the compensation/package agad. Just impress them with your skillsets (pero huwag ding mayabang) and things will flow smoothly. Don't try to make them show that you know something that you really don't know kasi one way or another, lalabas din na di mo alam yun. Nung interview ko for my current SG job, I have had lots of "I am sorry, I am not knowledgeable in that field, however I think in my experience in ... will suffice..." something like that.
Impress them. Good luck and God bless!

Hoy! mga noyPi sa SG! Kumusta kayo!
Let me cite our talents. Masipag , matyaga, matiisin, mabait , friendly, etc...
5. Sa tao sa Pinas. Nagtratrabaho po kami dito at di nagbabakasyon. Walang libre dito.
The best ang NoyPI!

hi gretel.b congrats and welcome to SG! na notice ko lang mga pinoys dito pag nag papa rent sila ng rooms. they prefer girls lalo pag couples. pag girls (single or even married) they prefer guys. sabi ng friend kong girl ayaw niya girl din kasama niya sa house kasi maarte at nakaka away niya lalo sa paglilinis. guys daw kasi wala paki maglinis o hindi di siya affected. :D

hello mga pexers! approved na EP ko as of yesterday... just got my scanned copy awhile ago. saktong 2 weeks inabot yung processing time sa akin.
1. What are the pros' and cons' of not going to POEA and OWWA anymore? ako kasi will go there as a touirst tas pag nandun na ako saka ko declare yung EP ko. ganun din yung mga na-hire ko for singapore dati.
3. Madali bang aralin yung transport system?
4. Saang bangko pwede mag-open ng account and how much minimum balance?
5. How and madali lang ba kumuha ng singtel post-paid line?
6. Dyan ba they usually work late din? uso ba overtime dyan?
7. How's singaporeans as officemate? kung may direct report ako na singaporeans, susunod ba sila sa akin. may mga indian din sa office namin, ok ba sila?
8. Lastly, free accomodation ako sa hotel for 1 month. After which, i need to find a place on my own na.
pacensya na dami tanong ha.... thanks in advance.

1. After you get your EP, paregister ka na rin sa OWWA kasi wala ka nang travel tax na babayaran just in case bumalik ka sa pinas at balik din sa SG.
2. Sa LP, sandamak-mak ang remitance centers. You could deposit pa nga there sa bank account mo sa pinas (like Metrobank, BPI, etc.)
3. You need to purchase the Bus booklet para malaman mo yung bus numbers na dapat mong sakyan. Yung MRT system nila ang daling pagaralan, every station has its own MRT station guide.
4. You could try BPI, Metrobank. Im not sure sa kanilang minimum balances.
7. Sabi nila, Indians are more friendly than chinese.

question po with regards to determining expenses....
FOOD BUDGET:
TRANSPORTATION CONCERNS:
kung ang office ko is in robinson's tower, mga how much po ang monthly transporation expenses ko kung sa tanjong pajar plaza ako magre-rent ng unit? sabi ng owner, pwede daw walking distance? totoo po ba yun?
CHANGI AIRPORT:

500$ would be enough for your meal allowance per month puro kain lang sa labas.
*okay*

Hi.. I just need some feedback..
I'll be joining my friends to travel Singapore - KL, but there's a prob because they'll be arriving in Singapore earlier than me (from Phils) and then they'll go straight to KL. I'll be arriving in Singapore at 10pm (from Macau) and I'll be BY MYSELF, so... do you think it'll be safe to just follow them to KL around 11pm... Any other suggestions?

haha... the last line was funny! :D
So, ma-iikot kaya namin ang buong Singapore in a day or two? :)
I wonder, (to all Filipinos working in Singapore) pag my nakikita ba kayo na Filipino "tourists"... how do you react? I mean are you happy to see them, do you shout "kabayan!", etc?
Sa ibang bansa na na puntahan ko, I mean deadma lang mga pinoys.. pero ako parang i would have wanted to greet *** kapwa mo pinoy..

I dont think so na maikot mo singapore within 2 days.. sa zoo lang 1 day na at night safari, just a tip kung gusto mo punta ng zoo at night safari.. unahin mo yung night safari then the next day yung zoo. at pagbili mo ng ticket yung 30 ang kunin mo para save ka ng 10 para sa zoo.
Yung iba deadma. feeling mga sosyal :rotflmao:

ah okay... I want to know if Filipinos in Singapore, I mean those working there, are friendly and would gladly answer questions we might have for them. I'm pretty sure we will be "lost" along the way, which is fun in a sense pero I just don't want to waste so much time on that part... hehe
So, must-see ang Zoo, what else? Sabi nila *** Sentosa (that's where the Lion Statue is? I don't remember.. my nagbanggit lang)...

most pinoys will gladly answer question specially from lovely pinays. however, you might have a different reaction from the "working girls" in lucky plaza / orchard vicinity though.
there are two merlion studio. the huge one is located in sentosa, the smaller original one is located near the esplanade.

May kasamang breakfast, transfers to/from resort, tsaka yung ticket nga sa ferry.
Bus costs S$ 6 per head, pero unlimited naman rides dito, kaso take note of the schedule kasi madalang din eh.
They even allowed us for an early checkin of 9am Indonesia time (10am PH/SG time), normally, 3pm pa ang checkin time. Naupgrade pa kami into a deluxe room. Friday kami nag checkin, kaya siguro naka-avail kami nito.
Alam ko meron ding day tour packages... pero do yourself a favor of staying one night para di naman pagod.

Hi, just need to ask a few questions. I recently got an offer sa Singapore and expect to be deployed by january. Dunno much about working in Singapore so please, please do help me out if you can :)
1. What exactly is the difference between an E-Pass and an S-Pass? I believe S-Pass yung iaapply sa ken.
2. Will I get tax deductions? Or sa Phil. Govt ang bayad ng tax? Do I pay it nang isang bagsak when I get back?
3. Around how much po ba talaga ang cost of living sa Singapore for a single girl who will most likely share a house with 4 or 5 other people?
4. Around how much to get a laptop (not necessarily magandang model) and internet connection?
5. How do u get in touch with your family here sa Phils? Can I actually bring my cellphone there tapos buy na lang ng sim card dyan?
6. Any tips or Dos and Donts?
Thanks, anyone's response will be greatly appreciated!

1. What exactly is the difference between an E-Pass and an S-Pass? I believe S-Pass yung iaapply sa ken.
check out www.mom.gov.sg.
2. Will I get tax deductions? Or sa Phil. Govt ang bayad ng tax? Do I pay it nang isang bagsak when I get back?
you pay taxes in SG. either you have a self assesment, or yung company mo mag asikaso. either way, you pay. di ko masyado alam pasikot sikot ng tax kasi di pa ako nagbabayad nito.
3. Around how much po ba talaga ang cost of living sa Singapore for a single girl who will most likely share a house with 4 or 5 other people?
browse this thread for an idea. pero mas mura talaga if you share a place.
4. Around how much to get a laptop (not necessarily magandang model) and internet connection?
you can buy a laptop for as low as less than S$ 1000. Internet connection is at S$60 a month, of course, pwede rin makishare sa housemates (dapat me wireless lan kayo or something)
5. How do u get in touch with your family here sa Phils? Can I actually bring my cellphone there tapos buy na lang ng sim card dyan?
i use my trusty kababayan SIM. available din ang call cards for as low as S$5, mas mura pa retail value sa actual value pag sa Lucky Plaza ka bumili
6. Any tips or Dos and Donts?
again, read this thread. don't break the law siguro. hehe.
good luck and God bless sa pagpunta dito!

Some companies do tax deductions, some companies dont(specially for contractuals). You need to pay your taxes in SG (not in the Philippines). You can check thi site www.iras.gov.sg/ for info about the tax rates etc.

^are you on a budget or do you have money to spare?
if on a budget: go to a polyclinic and get a referral to a specialist. they will probably refer you to a government hospital.
if not on a budget: go to a private general practitioner and get a referral to a specialist. they will probably refer you to a private hospital. although, sometimes they MAY refer you to a government hospital.
