Who is the coach of the LSGH team and why is he bumming around?

The coach last year was Tonichi Pujante, who played for LSGH in the NCAA juniors but went to Letran for college. I also believe this guy doesn't know how to coach. Mukhang mas okay pa si Rico Perez who became the assistant coach of Manny Dandan at NU last UAAP season. If not for Gavino, I doubt if LSGH would have won any single game last year. I don't know why Bro. Bernie Oca allowed this guy to coach in the first place. Or is it really the gang of Henry Atayde calling the shots for LSGH? This guy is actually the barkada of Jong Uichico and Junel Baculi (LSGH high school, Mapua College) since I saw them watching Pujante coach last year against Letran in the NCAA. There were rumors that Baculi will take over the job of Franz at LaSalle and was even heard that he will coach LaSalle daw during a homecoming of LSGH alumni this year. But since Franz has already dispeled rumors of him leaving, Baculi might have meant LSGH, since this is more logical, him being an alumnus. Although this is not confirmed.

I guess we can repeat. Someone told me that this year's squad is much stronger than before. Altough we won't be seeing Jay Lapinid since he's in the PBL already but his eligibilty will be put up for appeal daw. Rolly Menor, Romar Menor's bro will be back and Carlos Reyes who's, in his last year in CSB but was in the line-up in '98 and '99, but didn't know if he played will be in this year's squad as well. A friend of mine said that he's a good player. Let's hope that this is true. Goodluck CSB Blazers @ Father Martin Cup.

about the line-up for the next ncaa... i know for a fact that they haven't decided on the final line-up yet. Pero that was last week... my source say that the line-up for father martin's would be decided upon this week, probably on the 17th... it may or may not be the same line-up for the ncaa.

as for us making it to the final... four or even getting the championship? Well... anything's possible. The season hasn't started yet. We could all hope for the best and pray that we would end up with high reviews when the curtain falls.

Your right REKTIKANO. The LSGH program is going nowhere, if not for the good performance of their Prada, Midgets, Passarelle, Mini teams. LSGH would be a misnomer.

I've hear all sorts of wrongdoings by the Head Coach, i hope LSGH ALumni open their eyes on this...this coach needs to be replaced...they can find replacements in their own backyard, like the coaches of the lower age teams of LSGH, PAGING BRO OCA. They should have not Fired Coach Perez in the first place.

:geek: I haven't watched a game yet. But I'm pretty sure that Carlos Reyes is in the line-up. They also used one of the trainees in a tune-up game against the RP team. I'm just not sure if he got in. Eric Cruz is not playing anymore. Jay is playing for Pharmaquick and therefore can't be part of the NCAA line-up. But I've heard that that can still be contested. Diloy is playing in the Fr. OK. I'll try to confirm the final line-up for the NCAA.

Eric graduated na kaya wala na siya sa line-up. I can't remember the name of the trainee na sinama sa line-up... confirm ko rin. Yung kay Jay... ewan ko kung bakit siya di puwede isama sa line-up. I don't know if it's the NC people who decided on that or if it is a personal choice of Jay. Pero I'm ruling out the latter kasi the last time I spoke to Jay e na-mi-miss na niya playing with the CSB team.

Unfortunately, they lost today against St. Francis. Thet are now tied with 3 wins and 1 loss.

SFAC won by more than 10 points. So baka by quotient mas mataas ang place nila keysa CSB. I'm not really sure kasi I don't know the scores of the previous games.

They lost to Chinese Taipei kagabi...so eliminated sila for the championship game sa Saturday. They won three straight games pero natalo sila ng St. Francis and TPE. Grabe ang sama ng officiating kagabi kung napanood nyo baka magwala kayo!!! Sana nga pala next time nanjan yung buong pep squad kasi ang laking factor nila sa game especially during crucial moments tulad kagabi and btw, they lost by just 1 point after matambakan sila ng 11 points sa start ng 4th quarter. Kita kita tayo lahat sa NCAA ha!!!

i totally agree... the officiating of the csb-ch.taipei game really sucked. hinintay ko pa sa tv kasi i didn't watch it live ... only to be disappointed. Pero ok lang at least they'll have time to concentrate on training for the NCAA.

Ganun? Iba line-up nila? Ano ba talaga line-up ng mga yan?! Kakahilo naman! Basta ba eh hindi rin sila nakakahilo sa NCAA para naman makahatak pa tayo ng crowd support in every regular game nila.

Sad to say viemann, may ibang prioridad ang Pep at that time na crucial pala ang laro nila. Nanonood naman palagi ang ibang pep pero school comes first. NC talaga priority din ng squad at medyo try-out season nanaman para sa mga would-be cheerleaders and drummers. Hopefully eh dumami na rin ang squad at sumaya pa lalo sa bawat larong nagchi-cheer sila. :smokin:

Another Blazing Finish For the Blazers?

The hunter now becomes the hunted.

This is how coach Dong Vergeire pictures the College of St. Benilde's bid for a back-to-back crown in the forthcoming 77th National Collegiate Athletic Association basketball season set to unfurl July 7 at the Araneta Coliseum.

That's because every other team in the oldest and most glamourous amateur league will be preparing hard to beat the Blazers this year.

But Vergeire said the team is ready to face the challenge.

"Kung last year kami ang hunters, this time kami ang hunted. But we are ready for that. I guess we have pretty good chances since we still have an intact line-up," said Vergeire when he guested Friday in the weekly Sports Communicators Organization of the Philippines (SCOOP) forum at the Kamayan West Avenue.

Under the leadership of skipper Manuel Diloy III, Vergeire hopes the Blazers will show the same intensity behind the solid core of Allan Capati, Mark MAgsumbol, Sunday Salvacion, Alexander Magpayo, and Jan Anthony Coching.

Backing them up are Bernardino Perlas, Sonny Castro, Jon Dan Salvador, Estilitus Mendoza and the comebacking Romar Menor. He also got two equally talented rookies - Carlos and Verman Reyes - in place of Jay Lapinid who was excluded from the list.

"I wouldn't say we are still the team to beat. I believe the competition is more balanced this year and every other team made their respective build-ups," said Vergeire.

As the defending champion, the Blazers have a slight advantage. But I think they will have a hard time because assistant coach Dino Ponce-Enrile is not with the team anymore.

When he joined the team last season, it marked the turn-around that led to the championship.

He left because he was asked to leave. They even had a big meeting about it and I guess they just decided that it is best that he leave the team.

Apparently, there were a lot of complaints about him re: how he conducts himself around co-workers, the athletes under him, and some students he gets to talk to. Let's just say that these actions didn't help people to regard him with the highest of respect... in fact it didn't help people regard him with respect at all.

I won't go at it in detail. I think naman it's best we leave it at that.

Personally, I think it wasn't really him who made the team win. Because as we all know basketball is a team effort. They all worked at it together. If the players didn't listen then wala rin silbi yung mga coaches, asst coaches and trainers. At kung wal namang coach, asst. coach and trainers, then there's no-one there to recognize the different talents/skills of our players and wala ring mag-iisip kung paano i-coordinate itong mga skills na ito, so that there would be just one cohesive unit.

We lost to PCU but it's still too early and we can still finish the rest of the games until the next round and get back at the Dolphins! One thing's for sure, everyone's out to get the Blazers and they should be prepared for the worst! Hope they beat the Cardinals this saturday! :up:
