hi,

we stayed at white beach last year, but were able to go island-hopping to see the other islands.

the rooms at white beach are not deluxe hotel quality, but the beach front is nice, as in you can swim and at night, just lie on the sands and gaze at the stars. food is great (fresh seafood), and cheap.

the other resort we saw is coco beach. there's a decent restaurant and pool and i think the rooms are nicer (the other guests we saw were mostly tourists), but the beach front is awful. as in you can't swim because the sand is
mabato. plus the beach is very small and a bit dirty.

i can't say much about the other resorts, but i didn't regret staying at white beach. wait for some more posts then take your pick.

5 years ago we stayed at Cocoa Beach and Encenad. I like Cocoa Beach better and they have fabulous "all you can eat" breakfast and entertainment at night.

derickyap....

white beach is not a resort but a place in Puerto Galera. there's alot of cottages that offers affordable rooms but you don't need to call and make reservation coz it's not as fancy as boracay or palawan. watch out during holy week coz it gets too crowded.

btw, there's not much to do at white beach. the beach itself is mediocre and the sand is not really white white.

try these:

white beach resort - white beach, puerto galera
0912-3670657

traveller's beach delight resort - white beach, puerto galera
0912-3129826

other islands with resorts - sabang beach, small lalaguna beach, big lalaguna beach, coco beach, palangan - just ask your travel agent about the resorts there

you can also inquire re the packages sa travel agencies. sila na bahala kung saang resort may available rooms. kapag holidays it's not advisable to just go there 'cause you might not find vacancies. pag holidays, ang packages sa travel agencies is mga 3 to 4 thou ata. you have to check it out. it's really cheaper when you go during regular days.

also, womanontop is right, don't expect boracay quality here, ok? pero it's not bad na rin.

That place was breathtaking!!! I would love to go there again. The scenery, the white sandy beaches and they have fabulous diving spots!!!! I was keeping a look out for those historical black rice. Years and years ago, there was a rice warehouse that caught fire and all the rice was burnt to a crisp. Occasionally, those burnt rice are still being washed ashore eventhough it's been maybe about 100 years ago since it happened. But a word of advice, please please please go there on a nice weather. Don't even go there after a storm..you know when we all think it's clear and sunny. Because when we went there, we were at the fringes of this storm and that 45 minute ferry ride from Batanggas became a scary 1 1/2 hours. But other than that..oh my goodness, it's unparrallel!!! Have fun in Puerto Galera!!!!!

Please do share your experiences at Puerto Galera: where you stayed? how much? how was the beach? accomodations? rooms? food? resorts? contact numbers? how much you spent?

Me and my friends are planning to stay there overnight. We are still scouting which beach to stay and which resort. Please do recommend an affordable place 'coz I'm not going there with my family, tight budget  I think an overnight cost of 2000 to 3000 pesos is affordable

yung 3000 mo siguro pwedeng umabot ng 5 days, seryoso, that is, if you're not too sensitive about the room, food, etc. if you're going to white beach on a not so "puntahan-ng-mga-tao" weekend, you could get a 6-person room for around 900 pesos for an ovenight stay, pretty cheap, huh? a single meal costs around 50 pesos up. like i said, if it's a regular weekend, you don't need to book a room ahead, several people will approach you as you get down the ferry asking if you've a room already, take your pick of the cheapest from there.

hope these helps :D

Thanks davanita.

There are lots of residential houses in the main beachfront area and upon arrival at Puerto Galera Port, even the jeepney drivers can assist you find a place.. so far i have'nt seen any big resort there and the facilities are just ordinary and most of the the time just electric fan, wala ka rin namang choice unlike in Cebu, Boracay, Palawan and Bohol and other famous destinations. hope you enjoy your trip...

You can simply go to Puerto Galera and upon arrival to the main beach front area a lot of people will assist you find for a nice place depending on your choice and budget. You need not book for your trip in Manila since its no longer that peak season. Even the jeepney drivers from the port can give you some places where you can possibly stay ans you can pick the best place.. The place is nice and you can try driving in some of the PADI accredited establishments or if you really want diving you can inquire at the PADI accedited establishments in their office here in Makati.. But the facilities are not that superior, if you are looking for lots of resort amenities, i think you can not find it here unlike in Boracay and Palawan wherein there are lots of first class resorts.. good luck and happy trip..

Check nyo nalang kung tapos na yung concert (sponsored by San Miguel Beer) kase kung hindi pa, MASAYA DOON!!!!!ispesyali kung mahilig kayo sa ihaw-ihaw....the best doon...

i used to be a frequent visitor of puerto galera way back in college. the last time i went there was year 1998, nag fluctuate na halaga ng piso nun pero d pa naman ganun kamahal ang rates nila. anyway, when i organized an excursion trip for our graduating class, i chose puerto galera as the main venue for it kse nga mura... sa WHITE BEACH namin sha ginawa, DELGADO BEACH RESORT (which was owned by the former mayor of puerto galera)for 3 days and 2 nights. 1200 each lang nagastos namin. nandun na yung accomodation and food pati biyahe namin pauwi. (well, mas nakamura kme kse dun na kme namalengke at nagluluto ng makakain, kasama na yung mga baon pang dala.)mura lang ang rate accomodations sa delgado beach, white beach. may aircon rooms merong nde. pero may electric fan naman and maganda yung kuwarto kse may mini-veranda pa sha. the rooms that me and my group rented, (we're 40 all in all)costed 250 a night.it has 2 beds, 2-3 kayong pedeng mahiga sa bed. may sariling bathroom/cr. sobrang linis ng beach front and you can do snorkeling and mini-hiking papunta sa kabilang island. white beach's not that bad. and i suggest na try ninyo sa DELGADO BEACH RESORT. it's worth it and of course very cheap. the last time i heard when my friend went there for a honeymoon, they stayed there for a week and almost 5000 bucks lang nagastos nila.

to meiji...if haven't been in puerto galera by the time u read this msg, here are some advice and info. ride a bus going to batangas pier at the bus station in front of alimall. the fare costs around P120. i suggest that u leave early in the am so that u'll arrive at puerto galera by lunch time. at d pier, u'll find various "shipping lines". if ur afraid of the waves (it'll get a little rough when ur at the agusan part of the sea), ride a fastcraft. but these fastcrafts dock at puerto galera pier and town proper. there are also other big bangkas that go directly to white beach, sabang, big la laguna, small la laguna, etc. the fare costs P140 for both types of boat. at puerto galera pier, u can take e jeepney ride (which costs P10-20) to white beach, tamaraw beach, and talipanan beach. there's a jeepney terminal 50 meters from the docking station. jeeps leave every 15-20 mins., just tell the driver where u will get off. u may want to check out the church, the museum, and of course the palengke to buy some food and stuff. last year, we stayed 1 night at big la laguna but the water is very near the cottages so we transferred to white beach. ok sa white beach. we stayed at summer connection (P500 per night yung single detached cottage), nasa dulo na sya ng beach kse maingay sa may gitna where the "nightlife" is located. pero last march (before holy week), we discovered na mas maganda, tahimik at konti ang tao sa tamaraw beach. actually, pwede mong lakarin from white beach. u just have to cross many big rocks sa dulo ng white beach (sa may summer connection). we stayed at aninuan beach resort (P600 per night at single detached cottage din). food in white beach and tamaraw beach costs P80 per meal. medyo mahal kse they cater to foreigners. pero since mas maraming resorts sa white beach, may mas murang mga resto dun. i suggest that u bring canned goods. pauwi naman, there's a boat terminal at white beach going to batangas pier. pero big bangkas lang coz yung mga fastcrafts nsa puerto galera pier lahat. sorry kung mahaba msg ko. i hope i was able to give u a comprehensive and useful info about puerto galera.

yep you need to take a bus to batangas (BLTB), then from there sakay kayo ng ferry diretso na sa puerto galera. since you're going on a long holiday, i'm sure maraming magpupunta, baka mahirapan kayo magpareserve ng place. kugn di naman kayo magpapareserve, make sure you go to the pier early, tipong madaling araw, kasi pati sa tickets agawan yan. from the pier, go to white beach. there are jeepeneys from the puerto galera pier that will take you to white beach na mismo. marami don nagpaparent. in our case, we got a place from muelle pier. it's coco resort ata. 500 lang overnight tapos its a jeep away from white beach. yung jeep terminal andon na rin mismo. so okay na rin. hindi pa kami nahirapan umuwi kasi andon na rin mismo yung mga ferry back to manila :)

take a bus(Tritran or Jam Terminal - near Gil Puyat LRT station) to batangas city pier. then from there, take a ferry to puerto galera.

i've been to coco beach and white beach mid last year.
coco beach is the best. budget for 2 days and 1 night stay would be from $28 to $58( food and transpo not included) per person

if your budget is a little bit tight, i would recommend the white beach resort(no swimming pool). i think for 2 days and 1 night stay, you would only spend around $40(food and transpo included)

purto galera, eh? naku... i'm sure you'll have fun.:)

1. punta kayo BLTB ng maaga para iwas traffic. first trip yata to batangas is at 3 am eh.
2. ingat kayo sa ibang tao sa pier. pag pansin nila na first time nyo, sisingilin kayo ng mahal. eto nangyari sa 'min eh...:( pinagbayad ba naman kami ng 150 for the jeepney ride going to the boat (eh 20 lang kami) and it only took less than 5 minutes to get there. jeez...:o
3. kung dami kayo pera, go to coco beach. napakaganda ng place. kaya lang dollar rate ang ginagamit kaya super mahal.
4. kung gusto niyo ng tipid, go to white beach. medyo mura pero nice din yung place.
5. punta kayo don sa place na super ganda ng corals. i forgot the name of the place eh... basta, go snorkeling... ang ganda kasi talaga.:)

uhm... la na me maisip eh. hope nakatulong ako...:D

baby_doc
Mar 14, 2002, 06:08 AM
You can pay the peso equivalent.

It's easy naman to go to Puerto. I suggest you take the ferry M/v Brian which leaves Batangas port at 10 o 10:30 ba, I forget. It takes you directly to White Beach. Yung isa sa Blue Diamond will just take you to PG pier. Sabagay ok din yon because that's where we buy our softdrinks and water. Aba mahirap din mag buhat ng mabigat. Just take the jeep. Ibaba ka naman nila don.

We usually dont bring food na para makatipid. Kasi hindi **** ganoon ka expensive. Reasonable naman. Actually even coke in cans is reasonably priced. I just drink a lot of it kaya mapapamahal. The place where I usually stay in puedeng magpalagay sa ref. Ewan ko kung kami lang yon kasi kilala na kami. But I'm sure charm will get you a long way.

The place to go snorkeling is Long Beach. It's a boat ride away. If you forgot to bring your gear there's some for rent. Dati 40/use. Ewan ko na lang ngayon. Ganda don eh. I suggest you bring a swim board para hindi nakakapagod.

Inggit naman ako sa inyo. Pag HW dami tao. As in people pitch tents on the beach. Pero enjoy. Ako I like PG when off season. Walang masyadong tao.

The gimik place is Sabang which is a jeepney ride away. Safe naman to go home late at noght or early morning. Just check the jeep skeds.

Makapunta nga before the summer crowd goes.

We took a car from QC to Batangas Pier and left it parked there for 4 days. I think it was 70 pesos a day or something like that to park it there. We took a ferry but please take a ferry that has an open deck area if you have major problems with motion sickness (hilo, suka). The one we took was suffocating and enclosed and felt like a swimming death casket. I think the ferry fare was 150 per person.

We got off the main port and the bankeros immediately hit you up for business. We got a good deal for 4 people to get picked up and taken to any island we wanted to visit for 4 days for 280 pesos flat rate. The bankero would meet us infront of the beach at a designated time we chose.

We wanted to stay at Sabang Beach per the Lonely Planet PInas we read (affordable daw doon) but it was a bit ghetto and dirty and full of bars. Coco Beach was too expensive because we only had a 3000 budget for 3 nights 4 days and so the bankero suggested BIG LA LAGUNA. Very nice and clean and snorkeling was good. I forgot how much it was per day there. We had the beach front bungalow with aircon and patio. I think it was 900 pesos or 950 per day for 4 people. The two of us girls slept on the bed and the owner gave us an extra mattress for the boys to sleep on for the floor. Pretty cool!

CORAL GARDEN was the ultimate strip for GREAT snorkeling. Clean sand and clean blue/green/turquoise water everywhere. BEAUTIFUL!!! Ask the bankero to take you to that strip of beach for snorkeling.

Each of us took 3000 pesos or a 60 dollar budget for these 4 days and NAGKASYA. We ate out 70 percent of the time for breakfast/lunch/dinner/drinks/merienda but there were a couple of dinners where my aunt took her mini stainless steel camping cookset she bought here in California and her mini gas burner and we cooked corned beef, rice, chicken caldereta with the ingredients we bought at the local sari sari store at Big La Laguna.

I liked Puerto Galera a whole lot cause it doesn't take long to get there from Luzon/Manila. I thought you had to go to Boracay to enjoy nice beach but that wasn't so when I visited PG. It'll do and SNORKELING is awesome there. Better beaches and scenery than Anilao Batangas. Anilao was dirty and had nasty rocky beaches...pang divers lang talaga. I've never experienced beach like tropical beach like what I experienced at PG before as a little kid in Pinas and the beach going experiences I had growing up here as an adolescent/teen in Southern California couldn't compare to an OG (original) TROPICAL BEACH experience in the motherland. Way cool!!!

I can't wait to try Boracay in the future when I have the funds $$. You know many peeps in North America would rather hit Mexico or the Carribean Islands for a TROPICAL Beach experience because it's closer and safer but it feels good to be in the Philippines especially when appreciating her landscape and natural environment. The Philippines has great weather and great natural resources. The Pinas travel experience doesn't revolve around Manila. If it did then it would really suck 'cause Manila is just all about shopping, malls, movies, bars, music and nightlife. People would totally miss out on the BEAUTIFUL SCENERY.

Have fun at Puerto Galera people.

Totoo ba na this was where the Spanish kept their Galleons way back in the days 'cause it was enclosed by mountains and coconut fields and stuff like that. Kasi parang there are little enclosures of mountains and fields and then beach. Nice hidden parking lot for galleons I guess, eh.

Oh and the rental fee for mask, fins, life vest was like 50 or 60 pesos each. The beach chairs at Big La Laguna were rented also so you could sit and lounge on it for 40 pesos for half a day or something like that.

We went to Puerto Galera 4 months ago during the Halloween/All Saints/All Souls Holiday Weekend so around October 31st to November 4 of year 2001.

Again...have fun at PG :D

Hey all,

My hubby and I are planning to going to Manila for Christmas. We've decided to go back to Boracay but I've never been to Puerto Galera and have always considered it an option. Besides if we are on crunch time I think it would be faster to go to Puerto than Boracay, right?

One question for now: do you call ahead to book a room or is it easy to find one when you get there? Oh yeah and another one: white sand ba siya? Not that I'm picky (basta lang hindi gray volcanic ash), just curious.

Pinkmoon : every summer we visit PG. The best place i could recommend is the Coco Beach. It was a good place. The people are very accomodating and the food was great. And every evening they arrange your room with matching flowers in it. The rate is in dollars. It's very good to do snorkling, the corals there are great. The sorroundings are clean. You can check out the reservation here in Legaspi Towers near Bangko Sentral. Be careful of fixers in pier. The sand is white.

*** may nakuha kaming buong bahay na, 2 rooms, with ref, stove, kitchen utensils etc.. for only 600 psos.. smantlang *** inaalok sa min na cramped room eh 750 ata!

4. kung pupunta sa aninuan falls (which is abt 1 and 1/2 hrs on foot) dpat early morning kayo punta. kse, masusunog kayo pag mainit na yung araw! and bring food and water, dhel tlgang bundok yung aakyatin nyo dun..

5. massage: tawaran niyo yung 150 mahal yun.. pwede yung 100psos or less..

6. if youre going snorkeling: hanap kyo ng ksama niyo. kse 700 pesos yung buong boat ride.

We went to puerto galera just last weekend. its kinda crowded, holy week kasi. Try calling this number: 5248243 its the number for White Beach Resort .

tip:

1. sulitin ang snorkling! sobrang sarap. pero do it early morning. sobrang nasunog kami cos 11am na kami nagstart.
2. choose M/V Brian ferry (P100). It will take you directly to White Beach. We rode FastCraft(P140). Tapos nag jeep pa kami to white beach (P150). If you're gonna ride M/V Brian, take bonamin. Liit lang yung boat kaya sobrang shaky pag malaki yung alon.
3. tawaran nyo lahat!

We went to Baler, Quezon instead. The place was great. Good for surfing.

Anyway, the info you guys gave will still come in handy since we still plan to go to Galera this summer. :)

Puerto Galera is not really for the Beach Tripping people. It's really for snorklers and divers.

The beauty of Puerto Galera is underwater!

Oy wag nyo aasarin ang Anilao the corals there are better than those in Palawan. Once you're a diver, you really wouldn't care what the beach looks like. ;)

do anyone of you guys know any contact number where we can avail of rooms for around 10 people? We're kinda low on budget so we're really trying to find the cheap ones. Kahit di aircon basta lang we have a place to stay pagdating namin dun.

Need help ASAP. We're going there this weekend na!

the last time i went there we had no prior booking. once you land at Sabang beach just go around the resorts and ask, tabi tabi naman yon e. as they've said 3T per pax is sufficient but you can bring more if you want to so you can stay in a nice place.

you can walk up to small la laguna beach for more resorts connected naman sila e. if you're more into beaches you have to take a boat to white beach, there are also resorts there.

i must warn you Sabang is really ugly abovewater, but if you're a diver or a snorkler the place is great.

This thread has given me an opportunity to say what me and my friends could have done to make our stay there enjoyable but the fun factor could have been higher if not for certain lapses.

Our trip to Puerto Galera wasn't planned

Forget bookings or reservations, we ran on a small budget, around 2500 to 3000 per person. We stocked canned goods, junk food, mineral water and brought less clothes. It was just an overnight stay there. We could have been there in the morning but my friends were too excited that they had to insist that we get there earlier so on Good Friday we decided to take the bus towards Lipa were 3 more friends would join us. We got to the pier by 3am on a Black Saturday and wanted to wait but alas, we had to dish out 300 pesos to get a banca to take us there. What's worse is that we landed on Sabang by 5am. Racing against time to recharge and enjoy the nightlife, we took another ride towards White Beach were we got a room for 2500. A price we had to pay for a place that's teeming with different people either coming in, going home, still buzzed with alcohol and lots of different events for the weekend.

I saw a lot of my friends there

I saw a few of my neighbors and schoolmates, and night owls of Manila. Some stayed as early as tuesday and most of them left to avoid the Easter Sunday struggle to go home early. Some of my friends left by Monday.

Security and Service

Service sucked big time. Of course, the resort handled more than it could hold in an ordinary weekend. Our airconditioner was useless as electricity got regulated by the afternoon as we slept around 9am (the time we got a room after long hours of the trip). We even heard stories of people who rent the rooms in a place twice its regular rate, say Person A rents Resort A room for the price of 1000 and then Person A rents it to Guest A for 2500. If only I had a paltik, but that's another topic that we'll get back to later.

Thankfully, by nighttime, we had power and comfort was no longer an issue, security was. No thieves dare try to enter our rooms but the security in bars and other establishments in White Beach took a backseat.

There was a hiphop event by MTV in a resort that ended up with fistfights with guests and locals. Too bad the imported DJ had to stop the music. And to my surprise, locals share that it is a natural occurence in this part of Puerto. Another fight ensued in another bar with guests ending up conversations with name-dropping and another guy firing a paltik gun to scare the gay community. No policeman in sight. Helpless against any incident, events and parties had to suffer the brunt of ill-bred individuals who spoil a good party.

Prices of Food and Pasalubong

The laws of Gravity and Economy come in handy in this time of the season as we see more consumers and more demand for a particular item or service. Beer was reasonable, food was ok and there were so many choices but you could already imagine how much you could have spent if you didn't get there on a holy week. Just do the math when you get there. Its the time you spent there that would cost you a lot and nothing else.

Environment

Of course, the more consumers you have, the more trash you get. And the beach suffered from the commercialism. Thankfully, the tourism authority have people cleaning this place for the next visitors that would come.

It was our first time to get there and I hope you learned a lot of things from our stay there. Believe me, we have learned our lesson and we plan to go back there prepared like Boy Scouts! :D

ey there! i was just in puerto galera the other day, twas my first time too... anyway, we went to white beach and stayed at the White Beach Lodge were we rented a "fun room" cottage (no aircon) for a thousand a night. it was awrite, coz we had two huge beds (good for 4-5), a bathroom and a kitchen area. their cottage with aircon is at 1500. u can also try Peter's where the airconditioned cottages is at 1300-1500, as well as Nikita's. m not sure abt the non-ac ones though. reservations aren't really necessary, especially if ur goin there on a weekday. tip lang, i suggest that u get a boat that will arrive on the island at noon time, coz that's the check out time for the resorts. u can easily chance upon the leaving guests and get a vacant room/cottage without much waiting.

oh, and another tip: if u are really on a budget, i suggest that u bring a cooler with lotsa ice and soda... a 2L bottle of soda costs 50 bucks there, and two glassfuls of ice cubes was like 20 bucks :D

Where's the best place in PG for swimming? How are the resorts at White Beach?

Thanks a lot guys! :)

dami pala ditong fellow PG lovers
white beach is ok naman for swimming, since the water is clear... hindi ka matatakot na may mga kung anu-ano na hindi mo nakikita. white beach is nice if you're just a beach bummer... yung tipong gusto mo lang magbasa ng libro at mag chill-out. although it does tend to get crowded (i didn't even try to make it there during holy week). it's also a nice area to use as your base for island hopping. last time i was there we took a boat around to other islands for snorkeling. however this was off peak season so ang dami naming napuntahan for only p750. sorry guys, the best deals are really off-season!
kung gusto niyo makatipid, why not consider getting a non-aircon room? that can cut your accomodation expenses by about half. with so much to do and see, you don't really spend your time in your room, sayang lang yung aircon and tv. at night the air is considerably cooler than in manila, so ok naman kahit walang aircon.
check out tamaraw falls also...makes for nice pics. tip: don't take a trike, by the time you get there ang sakit na ng butt mo from the rough ride. tapos covered in dust ka pa. take a jeep.
arg i hate summer class! sana maka PG ako this summer...:(

Spent the Holy Week there. Daming tao but we still were able to get a place to stay in even without reservations.

jopert Ferry costs around 120 - 150. As early as 5 am, meron nang umaalis from Batangas pier. It takes an hour to an hour and a half from Batangas to PG. May umaalis na boat every hour so di ka matagal maghihintay. It would be best to leave a little before sunrise - you'd enjoy seeing the sunrise while on the boat and i think it would be scary at night. :D Yung sinakyan kasi namin yung open deck na boat - which would be better kung medyo may motion sickness ka.

anacarmela Don't worry about accomodations. We went during the peakest of the peak season  and we still got a place to stay, overpriced nga lang.

We got a big fan room with private toilet & bath and one big bed for 2500/night. They offered it to us for 3000/night pero tumawad kami (yes it's okay to haggle) but they admitted to renting the place for only 400/night after the holy week. The place is clean and relatively new, a little more than a year pa lang. It's a few meters walk from the beach front pero okay na rin.

To those who plan to go snorkeling, look for Tonton the bangkero - his boat is named Shirley 3 which you could find docked along the White Beach shoreline. He'll take you to Coral Garden for a minimal fee, mabait na tao pa.

yes, i think nakakatakot sa gabi! pero nba curious ako sa sunrise thing mo ha! although i dont know if i can wake my friends ng madaling araw para makarating sa batangas pier ng 5am? we're coming from las pinas kasi e so i think it would be around two hours right? so 3 kami aalis ng las pinas to get to see the sunrise on the ferry?

i've been there twice. the most recent one was summer last yr.

the first time i went there, i joined a rurals activity and stayed there for about 5 days. the activity gave out free medical and dental check ups to the locals there, provided catechism lectures to grade 1 students, and gave out an nsat review to high school seniors. it was fun, but i wasn't able to really tour the place that much. i only got to go sa "bayan" na walking distance whenever we need to go sa market, and this private cove where we swam on the last day. the cove was great! unspoiled sobra!

the second time i went, i went with my groupmates in a summer class. we were supposed to shoot stories and we decided to go to puerto galera. this time, we stayed in sabang, sa tropicana hotel. this time, i really got to tour the place. we went to a beerhouse coz we had a story on prostitutes/sex workers in the area, then we went to the mangyans and interviewed some of them, and then when we were there, there was bathtub regatta and we also made a story out of that. this time, i and my groupmates got the chance to talk to a lot of people and get to know the place. saya rin nung party. we also road a boat to take us to white beach but we didn't like it there so nag-snorkel na lang kami sa long beach, which was better. we also ate frequently at this resto-bar sa may small la laguna. we would walk all the way from sabang to that resto-bar kasi ang sarap ng food nila. spicy ****!

a lot of people like to stay in white beach but i prefer staying in sabang.

sana makabalik ako ulit this summer:)

Thanks kay Helga for posting the White Beach phone#! It was a big help kasi ang dami ko ng natawagan pero expensive!

Anyway, I just talked to Mang Ben Magbuhos (sya yata ang owner ng White Beach Resort). He gave a super affordable rates pero unfornately, fully booked na daw ang all weekends of May!

But he said, madali lang daw maghanap ng rooms with same rates. I've been there for 2 consecutive years na pero all with reservations.

To all those na nakarating na without reservations, totoo ba yon?

Thanks in advance!

Napakaliberating at... ehem... pero they are friendly naman. Masaya talaga! Just don't forget to bring a SPF 20 or higher na lotion. :)

pchykins kung sa white beach, I would recommend sa Lenly's, 800 nga ang ordinary rooms nila pero ok, malinis at maganda CR, good for 3-4 persons na yun. Meron din silang room good for 8 na 1300 lang, non aircon pero kumpleto sa lutuan at ref at cr, etc. Basta ok.

thanks for that info! if wala na talaga akong mapagpa-reserve-an ng room, i'll remember that place so i can check it out.

hopefully, makakuha pa din kami ng rooms even without reservation.

by the way, how much pocket money should i bring to cover all the basic expenses (room, transpo, food, other activities like hiking)?

Transpo:
Assuming you are from QC and may access sa mga terminals:

Kamias-Batangas Pier
Php 116.50

Boat Ride to White Beach
Php 120 (M/B Brian) pero meron daw na up to Php 150 ang singil

So 236.50 lahat, times two since babalik ka = 472 pesos, so safe na ang Php 500 sa pamasahe pa lang, round trip.

Food:
Depends.

Activities:
Boat rides: 200 to 1000 pesos ang rent ng boat (up to 6 persons ata) para mapadpad sa ibang beach. One way pa lang ito. Pwede ** snorkel, swimming, etc etc.

Jet ski: Php 2500 an hour. No further comments.

All in all, pwede na ang 1500 na baon, excluding pamasahe at accomodation. Saya na noon for 3 days.

Hi! I've read all the posts regarding Puerto Galera, but still haven't found enough info and CONTACT NUMBERS of resorts there.

I'll be going with friends one weekend of May sa WHITE BEACH, and we still haven't got reservation!! Nakaka-drain ang mag-asikaso!! :unhappy:

A lot of people told me that it's ok to go there without one, but just haggle. But as much as possible, I want to secure a place before going there.

So again, please accommodate me with your info esp. with the contact numbers. Or, how did you find a room pagdating nyo doon? :help:

WHITE BEACH po ito ha! Pasensya na dahil I know marami ng threads sa topic ng PG. Maraming salamat!! :beam:

hi simurgh!

maraming salamat for posting the contact number! :D
i already texted mr. ben, and he gave their current rates pero ayaw naman nya sabihin yung name nung resort/place! :confused3:

OR, KAILANGAN PA NAMING MAG-COMMUTE FROM/TO BEACH?

ANONG NAME NUNG RESORT/PLACE?

as much as possible sana sa front beach lang kasi we wanted to stroll/stay sa beach area pag night (mag moonlighting ba) :p

asahan ko ulit reply mo!! :teehee:

There's a new place there Mindorinne Oriental. New , clean and beach front.

We askd around for prices bcoz we were staying at another place:

3 thou- room for 6 people
2500- 2 single beds ata.
2000- 1 queen sized bed

All rooms with aircon & REF (big help coz drinks cost a fortune; now u can bring all the cokes u need)

Problem is no vacant rooms all weekends of May.
ContacT # (632)5319980 Manila ofc daw yan Look for Jenny Villocillo

Actually you can get rooms even without reservation if you go on weekdays. Or if you arrive on a Sunday. By that time pauwi na ang mga tao. Mas mura pa. Over priced talaga kapag Fri & Sat. Aminado naman sila.

Tip #2: As soon as you land sa White Beach get a reservation for the ticket back home. Grabe hirap umuwi.

Hope you enjoy your stay like I did.

But the best time to enjoy PG is during the off season. Walang masyadong tao. Mura ang kuwarto. Everything is over priced right now.

coco beach is the best. budget for 2 days and 1 night stay would be from $28 to $58( food and transpo not included) per person

if your budget is a little bit tight, i would recommend the white beach resort(no swimming pool). i think for 2 days and 1 night stay, you would only spend around $40(food and transpo included)

hi do you have any idea what time the bus leave? how much ang fare? pano pauwi san sasakay from batangas port to manila?

maveric,

fast ferry from puerto galera to batangas departs at 0730, 1030, 1330 & 1530... but i suggest you check early the same day coz sometimes they cancel the afternoon trips...

bus - from batangas port there are plenty of buses back to manila but if you don't want to wait, i suggest you take a tricycle or jeep to town / bus station... bus leaves almost every 15 minutes back to manila...

or if you want it arranged round trip (mnl-btgs-mnl) call sikat bus & ferry, tel# 5213344 (i think?), sikat bus leaves 0900 from city state garden hotel

cruiser - i like coco beach also, in case you're interested to go back, they have a promo during weekdays - php999 per person sunday to thursday (2 nights, breakfast, transfers)

ta tah! ;)

corner of Buendia & Taft... i suggest you leave early morning, riot sa dami ng tao sa Batangas pier specially if you're planning to go on a weekend...

I'm planning to go din sana at Cocobeach kaso a friend told me that this place is boring and the water is not that clean. Sayang mura pa naman sya. Meron silang weekday summer package ngayon. PhP999.00 lang for 3d/2n from Sundays-Thursdays. Ksama na un transpo to and from Puerto Galera. Can you please enlighten me on this. This is the best deal I've got so far. First time ko kasi and I don't want to go there without a prior arrangement just like my other friends do.

i recently had a photo shoot at palm bay (the moorings ata) in puerto
it was the first time ive been to that place
ok rin siya, they have big rooms, great view of the town and it's near the sandbar lang
dun wala masyadong tao, mostly foreigners
if you want that type of atmosphere dun nalang kayo
it's totally different from the party/night crowd in white beach and sabang

If you're planning to go to Puerto Galera, I greatly suggest you stay away from KALAW's PLACE...

We went there this weekend and we we caught by suprise!!!

Yes, I saw they're website but I assure you, it doesn't justify what we experienced there.. The place looks desserted!!!...

They indicated in their site that they're not offering white sand... but we didn't anticipated it to be on a freaking mountain!!!!

We went to Galera to swim and have fun... not to contemplate in a forrest-like environment....

The house look fine.. Complete if I may say (although hindi sya aircon pero mahangin naman)... It would have been better if it was built in a suitable place.. say.. like... near the shore!!!!!

I am sorry... well, despite the fact that KALAW's sucked big time, we had fun.. We went to white beach sat night and evacuated that freaking mountain on sunday morning.. We just rented a new place for the whole sunday to at least enjoy the beach....

I suggest you try white beach.. ok sya!!! Or La Laguna... :) enjoy!!!

Last week we went to Puerto Galera and we stayed in MOORINGS . Ganda iyon place but not beach front. Ganda ng service nila and super sarap ng food. Sarap ng Leche Flan. Pati rooms nila ganda and malaki. I suggest na you stay in MOORINGS . Sulit naman pag stay namin don.

We went to White Beach...konti lang tao kasi weekdays. Ganda din sa White Beach. Linis naman iyon water. Punta din kami sa Coral Garden (Long Beach). Ganda don for snorkling. :bluefish:

Sama ko howe ko... :sweet: :heartpump: Anniv kasi namin eh.

Just got back from PG last week. It's fun! Totally cut-off from 'reality' kasi walang signal ang Globe (hehehe!)
Naabutan din namin ang SMB Beach Party! :D

Anyway, we stayed at Mindorinne! It's the newest place sa White Beach. Ganda talaga ng rooms and facilities nila. If you have money to spare don na lang kayo. Airconditioned room costs about P2,000/nyt - P3,000/nyt sa biggest room.

For food naman, I recommend Mylah's (malapit sa Pacific Dive & South of the Border) -- masarap ang pagkain nila as compared don sa iba.

For massage, look for Manang Shirley! Galing na ang bait pa.

To be honest, hindi ko nagustuhan ang vacation ko dun, y? first, makati yung tubig sa beach (which means hindi sya malinis), second, sobrang lakas ng wave (maybe beacause malapit ng mag rainy season kaya siguro malakas ang wave), third mabato ang sand (well may mga part naman na hindi mabato pero halos ganun na din).

We stayed in White Beach resort and yung room na kinuha namin P1,200 per night, la pa syang air-con. Tpos madalas na walang electricity nung time na nandun kami. Btw, we were there nung May 24-26.

Although at first nag-enjoy ako. Pinaka enjoy kong time dun eh nung may SMB Beach Party, super saya.

And one more thing, nakakatakot umuwi ng malakas ang alon, kasi baka tumaob yung lantsa (yung boat)(tama ba spelling).

Nasa White Beach din ako last weekend. And yes, dead spot ang Globe. As for the power, nakita ko yung power barge ng NAPOCOR. Medyo kulang sya to supply the whole island lalo na pag summer.

Kailangan, may isa pang Power Barge. Kaya nag fla-fluctuate yung power dun kasi kulang.

i was in puerto galera last may 29-31. we stayed sa coco beach. ok yung resort...malaki and kumpleto kaya lang di maganda yung beach nila dun kasi sobrang mabato (as in bato). kapag low tide, makikita mo talaga yung bato na maraming sea weeds!

nakapunta din kami sa white beach. mas ok naman yung beach dun kesa naman sa coco beach. then nagpa-massage kami...ayun, nasunog ako! ang init kasi! that was around 10am so tirik na talaga yung araw plus madali daw talagang makasunog yung coconut oil na ginagamit nila. i wasn't able to get a decent sleep for three days dahil sobrang hapdi ng likod ko.

mahal ang food sa coco beach so i suggest punta na lang kayo sa ibang place to eat. di kami nakapunta sa coral garden...too bad, maganda pa naman daw dun. :sob:

For rock-climbers:

If you happen to be at White Beach, try scaling the north-east cliff (if you're facing the beach, it's at the rightmost end. For dare-devils (or suicide wanna-bes), you could try a vertical climb (though i advise against it because you could REALLY hurt yourself). Just try to do a lateral climb (traversing the wall) from 20-feet above the water surface that will bring you to the cliff's leftmost lip. If you lose your grip, you'll just fall into the water (and hopefully not on nearby swimmers). Just make sure you're stepping or holding on to firm rock.

Here's a pic taken of me doing just that last Holy Week. Tell me if you were able to do it! (if you couldn't see the pic, click here (http://www.pbase.com/image/1738890/medium))

iF you are planning to stay in White Beach wag kayo magstay sa Nipa Hut. I was there from May 27-30. We stayed in Nipa Hut for two nights, pero HINDI KAMI MASYADONG NAKATULOG. We stayed in Rm. 22(the room ill never forget!! hehe). That room is haunted...no kidding! I dunno whats in that room pero basta theres something in it!! Then the next night nang matutulog na kami, the tv suddenly turned on by itself!!! pero hindi na lang namin pinansin...then after about 15 minutes...nagising na kami lahat dahil sobrang freaky na yung mga nangyayari....shadows were just flying around us!!! my friend woke up and asked if somebody pulled his shirt up to his neck e ang layo namin sa kanya!! tapos we heard other cottages slamming their doors...when we asked them the next day they said they also couldnt sleep...ang hirap daw matulog dahil parang awkward yung feeling....

anyway, maganda naman yung white beach...yung first three days namin mahina lang yung alon..kaya sarap magswimming...we also went to tamaraw beach pero kami lang yung tao dun!!

eylow!...My condomates and I have just been to Puerto Galera to celebrate New Year :) ..we stayed at Enceneda Resort, it's a private resort so it's very different from White Beach where everything is so chaotic...you can lie on the beach chair under coconut trees and just five feet away from the water!!. The resort also have an elevate outdoor restaurant (like a veranda-turned dining area) with a fantastic view of the beach...the food is great too costs as low as P99 - P275/meal...beer is at P25/bottle while cocktail drinks averaged at P150/glass...there are so many cottages to choose from (both aircon and non-aircon) but if you want to save up, they have a nice room (with beddings, ceiling fan and bathroom) which is good for 3 and it only costs P500/night!!...:D ...oh well, the only downside is there's not much going on during night time but the resort is only 30 mins away from white beach so ok lang din...check this website for more info: http://surf.to/encenada..

we also stayed for one night at Buri Resort..very nice place with swimming pool and other sport facilities including banana boat ride :D ...

If you want to check out White Beach (for a much busy night life), try cheking in at Coco Banana (0919-4728882 for reservations). It has a cottage (good for 5-8 people...though it only has one huge bed) which costs P1,500/night...

okdoki...hope this info would be of help!....have fun on the beach!;)

I was at Cocobeach last summer with family ... service was good, place was clean, good amenities (they even have satellite internet connection, didn't try though, because it was supposed to be _vacation_, right?:)) .. when we went there, we felt we were the foreigners since most of the people were from Europe/Australia ... i liked the free-breakfast deal (buffet) the most :))
If we had enough time, we would have taken the coco cruise which brings you to all the nice beaches in mindoro plus boracay
If you don't have transpo, they can also arrange free shuttle from makati (i forgot the hotel name) to the resort.
It's not that expensive too.

Hey thanks! I have a few concerns about Cocobeach. Is is true that the place is far from gimik spots...that you have to travel pa? And how's the price of the food? Malaki ba ang beach? We like going there but we're afraid because some people said that you have no choice but to buy food from them because the resort's very secluded and far from other bars and restos.

we went to cocobeach may of last year. heto po ang masasabi ko:

good things.....
-yup, they can provide the transportation from manila to the resort. they have certain pick-up points, one of which is a hotel in makati. just be sure to be there at least 15 minutes before time. naiwan kami ng group! we were just late by 3 minutes! buti na lang, we had an idea how to get there by ourselves. hehehe!
-service is superb. staff are friendly.
-and yes, the food is great, especially the breakfast buffet. yummy! nabundat nga kami nun e. also, you get a welcome drink (fresh coconut) as soon as you arrive.
-only a few filipinos go there. tama nga ang ibang nag-post sa thread na ito. daming foreigners sa cocobeach! topless nga ang iba habang nagpapaitim sila (read as sunbathing). hehehe!
-the cottages are romantic. hwag lang kayong kukuha dun sa mataas na area. hirap maglakad paakyat, i tell you!
-you can do lots of things in the resort. there is this diving school within the resort. meron din hanging bridge, "coconut" playground. syempre marami din water sports (banana-ride, jetski, etc)

downside...
-secluded ang resort so you need to hire a boat to get to other places
-no great beach! sobrang daming seagrass, stones! that is why the resort offers free boat ride to other beaches in the area

yun lang po. hope this helps.

Thanks for the info guys! You've been of great help. Thank you cloud7 and pilya_ako for sharing your experiences. Actually we're planning to book for White Beach Resort package at Lakbay.net. Thanks again!

Anyway, we will be there on April 5 to 8...EB tayo! hehe :D

cocobeach is a very nice resort....it's...quiet...peaceful...relaxing...very romantic, perfect for lovers actually and true! puro foreigners...however, I'm surprised nobody mentioned something about the water from the cottage bathrooms...

i suggest you bring mineral water for brushing your teeth during your stay there....imagine how gross it would be when you start brushing your teeth with water that tastes like coconut and taking a shower with salty water....
eeew! after shower ang sticky ng feeling mo....according to cocobeach people, it's treated water daw...still, i find it icky...

anyway, that was in June 2002...maybe they did something about it already...

to those who just spent new year's at cocobeach:
how was it? please let us know if there's any improvement in their water from the cottage bathrooms. thanks.

Another thing, my friend and i were planning to go to Galera last week but decided to cancel the trip because according to one travel advisory, it's not safe to go there (daw) coz of the NPA "roaming" the area...skareee...

Anyway, please let us know when you get back, thanks!... hehehe ;) enjoy!

ice burn how was the atmosphere in galera? where is el galleon po?

For info on El Galleon, http://www.marsman-tours.com.ph/hotel_puerto_galera_el_galleon.htm

I found El Galleon really relaxing and it's nice with all the trees but if you get rooms on the higher up, be prepared to do a lot of stair climbing!

Asia Divers handles all the diving training and equipment.

Oh yeah, I suggest that you go to White Beach your purpose in going to Puerto Galera was for lounging and swimming at the beach.

Mine was diving, hence El Galleon, whose front was really full of corals and marine life.

Ask the bangkeros to take you to Coral Gardens. It's incredible!!! Kahit snorkeling ka lang dun grabe!!!

Sigh, that was 3 fun-filled days in Puerto Galera. I felt sad when it was over...

Coco beach is nice...kaya lang secluded coz it's a resort. I suggest try at White Beach. The people are cool and it's fun there even the nightlife. Foods are affordable and sarap!:) You can leave your car at Batangas Pier then get the MV Brian or Natividad so you won't take a tricycle anymore...they'll bring you straight to white beach. I also suggest to have a trip at Bayanan beach..super nice!

my husband and I went to Puerto Galera last Wednesday and since there was no trip to White Beach, we just took a boat to Sabang Beach... we decided to stay at Coco Beach (paid 150 for a boat to take us to Coco Beach)... the place was very nice, and the staff very courteous... there's a free boat ride to Long Beach and Coral Gardens... buffet breakfast was great... the only thing i did not like about Coco Beach, the water... as in ang lagkit ng hair mo dahil sa tubig at hindi bumubula ang sabon!

Go to WHITE BEACH if you're into night life. Go to CocoBeach if you like peaceful durroundings and fantastic sceneries. Ok sa White Beach...when we went there last April ang dami kong nakitang Manila friends..magugulat ka na lang. We stayed at Orchids resort for 3 days (800 pesos per room, good for three persons, without aircon). Then on our last day we stayed overnight at Mindorinne Oriental (2,000 per night, big room with aircon and ref) which is the only upscale and hotel-type resort in White Beach. Yung iba kasi parang apartment-style lang or bahay-bahay lang.

We also went to Tamaraw Falls through a tricycle....ASTIG! It was one-hell of a ride! I rode sa likod ng tricycle driver and yung mga girl friends ko sa loob. Imagine para kayong nag-trek sa Tagaytay highlands..in a tricycle..you'll see all the beautiful coastline and mountain terrains of Puerto Galera from the hilltop going to Tamaraw and it's was such an enjoyable experience! Nagpicture-picture kami at different spots with beautiful backdrops. Ok picturan yung mountains na covered with coconut trees. Kahit sobrang alikabok nung buong katawan ko I really enjoyed that. Naligo naman kami afterwards. :D

Kung ayaw nyong mahilo (and kung takot kayo sa alon), sakay kayo sa SuperKat (Aboitiz ship) from Batangas pier. It's a big ship and with aircon and hindi masyadong ramdam ang alon. Then when you reach Calapan take a tricycle going to the palengke, and from there ride a jeep going to white beach.

You can wait or ask somebody there sa pier kung saan kumukuha ng ticket.

saka, padating doon ,maraming tutulong din. mababait ang mga tao. when i went there, hinatid pa ako ng mamang naka-dyip.

ahh pano pumunta sa batangas pier from alabang pag may car?
hope you guys could reply asap:)

Jan 16, 2004, 09:32 AM
pikekoks,

It's easier coming from Alabang - you're already near the SLEX. Drive up the SLEX, exit at the BATANGAS Exit (it's the second to the last exit). Go straight up the National Highway. The fastest way to go to the pier is to use the STAR TOLLWAY. It's easy to spot - it should be on your right when you before you approach Lipa (tama ba ... nakalimutan ko na e - basta may paskil naman e). From the STAR TOLLWAY, exit as BATANGAS CITY - you need to do a U-turn, though (weird, I know ... but you'll know when you get there). Tapos dire-diretso nalang iyon - may mga paskil papuntang BATANGAS PIER.

Tip though, leave your car in one of the parking lots available near the Batangas Pier (but it will cost you ... alot!). You may bring your car to Mindoro - but you will dock in Calapan and not Puerto Gallera, and then you'll need to drive pa. I think malayo-layo pa *** drive, sabi nila di pa masyadong maganda *** kalye.

The best way to go is to ride a bus going to Batangas Pier in Alabang. Mas hassle free.

we left our cars in this gasoline station na may pay parking for that purpose talaga and it was just 60 pesos per car per day...but yeah, i agree that taking the bus is more convenient lalo na you don't have to worry about the goddamn car.

sarap mag-snorkeling sa Galera, but i suggest that you bring good beach shoes kasi medyo mabato doon sa may reef...

also tip about the food; most of the places serve food that's good for two so kung ayaw niyo matulad sa min na na-suya sa Calamares, iba-ibahin niyo yung dishes niyo kasi for sharing talaga yung servings (depende na lang siguro kung mga fratboys kayo kasi bigger appetites..)

Galera is the nearest, cheapest place i know that one can go and have an actual vacation.:)

why don't you try big lalaguna? if you want to snorkel all day, you may do so on that place. parang big aquarium sya. you can either bring your own snorkeling gears or pede rent din there. you can rent a house or room for as low as 800/day.

but if you want party and lively nights, guess white beach would be best for you. laging may party every night there.

basta all i can say, galera is the best alternative to boracay in case ur on a budget crisis. :)

wow ang ganda talaga doon!

so here's some details:

white beach:

a Valentine to remember!

Ellhym: Nice to read that you enjoyed your stay there. :) We really had a nice time there too last April! We will be returning there on March 20. . Last Saturday mahangin sa Manila..so I guess maalon sa dagat no? Last year totally calm yung tubig pag-alis namin sa white beach..and then suddenly may maalon na part papuntang Batangas. I guess meron nga talagang parang trench (or whirlpool) sa part na yon ng Mindoro.

We came from Marikina and took the Alps bus in Cubao. When we arrived in Batangas pier ang dami agad nag-alok ng bangka..but thanks to the other PExers here hindi namin sila pinansin and instead checked the rates and the skeds of the different boats to White Beach. Takot kami sa Alon so we rode sa Aboitiz Supercat. Enjoy ang ride doon kaya lang once you get to Calapan we have to ride a jeepney for a 1-hour ride to White Beach. But anyway, Puerto Galera is really nice...na-inlove kami doon hehe. We stayed in Mindorinne Oriental. And Galera is cheaper right? Sobrang nag-enjoy ako ako sa food. Favorite namin yung Arcobaleno and yung mga shakes and inihaw na bbq and seafood. We also went to the Tamaraw falls. :)

Hi. When we went there last April the room rate was 2,000 a night. We divided it into three and I slept in an extra bed. Maganda sa Mindorinne..upscale ang hitsura nya unlike the others na parang apartment style or mga bungalow-type house. Airconditioned ang rooms, very spacious..has lots of big cabinets, and room have refrigerators. Mahal ang tubig sa Puerto Galera I suggest you buy from White Beach restaurant ng 5-gallon..mga 20 pesos lang yata (the cheapest there and it's bottled) and store it in the ref. Their contact no. is: 0917-4426929. :)

if you are with someone special...

go to tamaraw/aninuan/talipanan beach. its just 5 minutes walk around the rocks from whitebeach (ingat lang) or a short trike ride.

last valentines, we stayed at Tamaraw Beach Resort...

P700/night
two beds (when you need just 1 =) ). fan. big bathroom.
clean, wide, white sand beach...cleaner than white beach kasi walang boats na naka parada...
definitely not as crowded as white beach is...

best getaway within 3 hours of manila!

I was in Puerto Galera last December. Sobrang saya talaga. Sa White Beach kami nag-stay. Sobrang okay doon. The beach was okay. I was testing kasi how far i can go sa dagat tapos na-shock talaga ako kasi bigla akong lumubog kasi biglang lumalim yung dagat (hehe... di pa naman ako strong swimmer).

I only spent P2000 doon including lodging, food, transpo, snorkelling, etc. 4 days 3 nights yun. Food tend to be a little expensive kaya laging barbeque ulam ko (P10). Yung room namin good for 4 with aircon, tv (no cable), and private bathroom.

Daming magagawa doon. Tambay sa beach, beach volleyball, massage, henna tattoo. Yung massage sobrang mura. P150 an hour tapos naghati kami ng friend ko kaya P75 for 30 mins.

Pumunta din kami sa Tamarraw falls which is 1 1/2 hours from White Beach through uncemented and narrow roads at the side of the mountain. Nakakatakot nga kasi kaskasero yung driver ng jeep.

Nag-snorkel kami. We managed to haggle the price with the bangkero from P750 down to P500. Plus P50 for equipment. Since 4 kami, tig-P175 lang yung naging gastos namin. Mura no? Iyon nga lang, sa katabing cove lang nya kami dinala (which is 5 mins away lang). Okay lang kasi the corals were fantastic pa rin.

the locals are very nice. sila yung type na makikipagchikahan sa iyo. btw, tagalog din language nila.

Tips ko: bring your own water and softdrinks. magdala na rin kayo ng food. kung gusto nyo bumili ng murang food o drinks, don't buy near the beach. maglakad-lakad kayo papalabas kasi mas mura sa mga sari-sari store na medyo malayo na sa beach. yung pinakamurang food is barbeque or makipag-share ka ng kebab sa friend mo. if you're gonna go around mindoro, mag-jeep ka na lang kasi mahal yung tricycle. iyon nga lang medyo madalang ang jeep. kung akala mo yung palengke sa bayan parang baguio na madaming goodies at pasalubong, nope. Puro baboy, isda at gulay lang doon.

dude im sorry. there's a number listed sa lonely planet ko pero mukhang di na siya gumagana.

anyhow, i think di ka mauubusan dun...they have lots of cabanas. meron pa silang apartment rooms for 600/night ata. considering we went there valentines, may vacancy pa...

aninuan beach kasi is far less crowded than white beach...

Was there last weekend and stayed in Mindorine. We called them over the phone so our rate was pretty "high" P 6200 for 7 people in the room, 2 queen sized beds, 1 queen sized cushion and one single cushion. Not bad actually :) Nice place, nice bathroom.

Like that the others suggestion, if you're going home on a Sunday, better get boat tickets early specially if you're travelling as a group, they can get really full.

Just came back from Puerto Galera. Nice experience as usual. Paper flat ang water...walang alon. Ang daming caucasian! May mga nag-topless pa nga while sunbathing hehe. :D We went sa kabilang shoreline and enjoyed trekking the big rocks on the way to the other side. We also saw Mangyan people sa bottom ng Aninuan Falls..nagpa-picture kami hehe. They were nice people...the kids were always saying 'Opo'.

Kung kakain nga pala kayo doon we recommend Basilico Restaurant (and Lodge). Sobrang bait nung buong pamilya na may-ari..they were very friendly, forever smiling, and would really attend to your needs. Ang bilis pa na service! We ate a LOT! Chicken and pork kebab, liempo, pork adobo, sinigang na baboy, ensaladang talong, inihaw ng parrot fish...yum! And fruit shakes haha.

Yup. Better reserve a ticket upon arrival in White Beach when going home on a Sunday. If you're going there make sure na may tiket na kayo pabalik.

Pero I heard fully-booked na most of the resorts for Holy Week. We stayed at Orchids Lodge..if you want to contact them their number is 09196966511. :)

just got back last sunday and it was GREAT! hindi ko kasi ine-expect na maganda, akala ko pangalan lang ang white sand akala ko mabato na malumot na gray ang buhangin but no, it really lived up to its name. ang saya ng atmosphere, maraming tao but it wasn't that crowded. ang late na pero ang dami pa ring happenings nung saturday night. galing!

the food...mmm... i'd say the best meal we had was our first meal. nakalimutan ko na pangalan ng pinagkainan namin but it was good. 'yung next two meals namin eeew! hindi masarap. kumain kami sa nipa hut at hindi masarap pagkain nila. and you have to prepare yourself for slow service. sa 3 kinainan namin lahat mabagal ang pagdating ng pagkain.

4 kami so that's 500/person. the room is clean but very basic. tv at aircon at 2 single at 1 double bed.

Since we were vacationing in Mindoro - we mad ea side trip to galera.

It's nice - and the place we stayed in - El Canonero in Talipanan Beach - was nice (it was about a few kilometers away from White Beach - pwedeng baybayin ang shore line papunta doon).

But the sand isn't as fine or as white as it was in Boracay, though.

lite
Apr 13, 2004, 08:31 AM
stonehill - I forgot to ask my brother how much he paid for overnight parking, but it is safe. I think the rates are on a per-hour basis. BTW, my bro chose a parking area that didn't require leaving the car keys (some do).

dengoy - I haven't been to coco beach, but I heard that it's nice. But the downside is that it's far from the gimik places (far from Sabang ... and very far from White Beach). However, I heard that accomodations are really nice. The way I see it, Coco Beach is to Puerto Galera as Club Panoly is to Boracay ... if you get my drift.

I haven't been to Oceana Dive, either, but I passed it through when I went to Puerto Galera last week. It's on the other side of galera - it's near Dulanangan (or is it in Dulangan already?). You need to take a tricyle, I think, to get to the poblacion.

I believe both resorts are listed on the net? :)

Or, if you find White Beach a little too crowded for comfort, try to hire a bangka to bring you to Talipanan Beach. It's just a short distance away, most people walk - but I don't think kids will enjoy a very long walk.

sweet_7326
Apr 15, 2004, 10:23 AM
kid friendly - would my kids enjoy our vacation there?

should i book a beach front cottage

or are we better off booking at a resort (i'm considering www.marcovincent.com), a few minutes away from the beach, pero they have their own facilities inside.

archerguy
Apr 15, 2004, 10:12 PM
We checked out Marco Vincent resort. Yes, maganda ang facilities nila at may pool, but I think it would be a hassle for your kids kasi medyo malayo from the beach...nasa likod ng White Beach and medyo long walk.

I agree, SHARINGAN, the locals in puerto are so rude!

They have no tourism etiquette, grabe talaga. The people offering goods, services and accomodations just won't leave you alone! Even if you tell them 100x that you're not interested. Also, some kid stole my money while we were swimming at the beach. And it's true about the restos -- bad service sila minsan. Try BLUE MARLIN restaurant in White Beach - their service is ok.

Very different from Boracay locals (but I haven't been there in 2 years.)

sharingan: Thanks for the tip! I heard last year may nag rock-climbing din doon na muntik nang mamatay.

As much as possible, we try to come to dinner earlier kasi pag pumunta ka ng super dami ng tao, expected na babagal ang service nila and yung mga customers prone to irritation kasi gutom nga eh. :)

*******!!!!!!!! from the boat ride upto the caretakers of the rest houses there being rented.... grabe!!!! dapat bigyan ng mga lectures ng department of tourism and even the local government regard good manners and etiquette... one more thing.... sana yung mga pumupunta doon can take their trash after staying in the beach for a picnic or staying overnight..... grabe ang dumi ng ilang areas ng white beach. I hope also that there will be a separate terminal on the boats plying to puerto galera. just like in caticlan and in boracay. :)

Just Asking lang PO?
