What do you think of this new spin-off? Is it better than the original "Abangan..." series?

For me, I like Nova Villa's Tita Tita character better than Nanette Inventor's Azucena character. Nova acts more naturally and the social climbing matron role fits her to a T.

Nanette's former role as Sammy Lagmay's domineering wife suits her better.

Candy Pangilinan is a bit over-acting, and so is Serena Dalrymple. Winnie Cordero's role as the angstful Liwanag (Sammy Lagmay's second wife) was much more fun to watch.

The show misses: Carmi Martin's Clara, Roderick Paulate's Benny, Anjo Yllana's Dino, and Nova Villa's Tita Tita.

The welcome additions are: Jon Santos as Senators Tililing (Miriam Santiago), Dancing Queen Bessie (Tessie Oreta), and Catiting (Nikki Coseteng).

The show does not need: Nikki Valdez as the highly politicized youth member of a militant group, the actress-aspirant, and Nanette Inventor's blank-charactered husband (played by Berting Labra).

Overall: the show is fun to watch, and it sure provides a much-wanted comedy alternative to corny sitcoms that abound (like those which star Robin Padilla, Aga Muhlach, Richard Gomez, and Joey de Leon). But the original "Abangan.." series was still a lot better.

And of course, special kudos to Tessie Tomas for reviving her hilarious Barbara Tengco character.

I believe Malu de Guzman is a very great comedienne so she should be given more lines.

The JP Tengco character looks funny at first sight, but we'll see how he fares as the show progresses.

I think Nova Villa and Carmi Martin will be in the show in the coming eps. They're hilarious!

i think the pilot went well. Mr. M and Joey Reyes were good in reviving the show.

in fairness to the new actors, they're still trying their characters on. let's give them two to three episodes more and they might be more effective. the reason why Tessie Tomas, Noel Trinidad and Sammy Lagmay are so funny is because they've been doing it for years already. the new ones might be as good if not better with time. specifically,

gabe mercado as jp- good as the antithesis of dino

denise joaquin as twinkle- almost there as the dumb blonde kolehiyala

nanette inventor as azucena and candy pangilinan as puring- i know what you were going for but i think you went overboard. you're very good commediennes but taking your characters to the extreme doesn't work. tessie tomas can push barbara to the limit because the character is neurotic by nature. i think your characters are more sober.

lui villaruz, malu de guzman, frank rivera- joey reyes better give their characters some more definition otherwise, total waste of talent.

michelle bayle- not working. a sweet porn star is nonexistent. not even priscilla has that been saturated with saccharine

i did not have the chance to watch this last sunday... but it's really good for ABS-CBN to bring this show back.. maybe it would be better if they brought this back during the impeachment trial... there would be a lot of spoofs to be made...

anyway... for the new characters... i hate the one who somewhat plays for the part of Anjo Yllana... i just don't like the way he acts(this is just based from what i saw when they were still promoting the show)... he doesn't fit for it.. anjo is the best!!! i can't say much for the others... i'll really try to watch next week.....

Jon Santos is the best!!! He's really funny... he does Miriam and Tessie Oreta the best!!! I believe in the coming episodes he's doing Loi Ejercito, Armida, and all the other characters he's been doing so good at all this time.

Galing ni Tessie Tomas! Congrats to ABS-CBN for reviving such a terrific satire!

Ayoko si Michelle Bayle yung ST actress wannabee character. She acts so.... ewan.

Halatang ginagaya niya si Ruffa Mae Quinto! Sana si Ruffa Mae na lang ang nilagay dun!

despite the absence of hit characters like those of carmi martin, roderick paulate and nova villa, the show's still a riot! i had fun watching it last sunday....

AY SERYOSO??? Pramis manonood uli ako ng Channel 2 pag pinalabas nila ito. It's one of the funniest local shows that I've ever watched. Very political too. I can almost imagine presidentiables doing cameos.hehehe

^^ sadly, wala na tayong mga ganyan ngayon, the sitcom in the Philippines is dead :(

Buot family of ASKSS has all the potential to be a sitcom and be legendary like the Tengcos, Cosmes, Puntongs, and Kabisotes but I don't think GMA has any plans of doing that. TV5's attempt na buhayin ang sitcom is just so-so kaya for now we just have to content ourselves with few minute humors of Camera Cafe on QTV.

^^ sadly, wala na tayong mga ganyan ngayon, the sitcom in the Philippines is dead :(I disagree. Maybe it's just on hiatus. There'll always be room for a sitcom in Philippine TV.

The last sitcom family that I saw was in Bahay Mo Ba To. And they cancelled that just last year.

^ For me, it was "dead" when sitcoms started to have "inside" jokes na referring to the personal lives of the actors. Nawala na yung "character", we just see the actors not the characters. Could we honestly say we have a memorable local sitcom character for the past 5 years?

But yeah technically the genre is not "dead" but there are only two sitcoms I know that are on air right now, Ful Haus on GMA 7 and Everybody Hapi on TV5.
