For me, the best band today is U2. Their music has matured over the years, and till today, they have managed to remain mainstream without sacrificing their core sound.

the dave matthews band is cool too. they've been around for a while yet the quality of music is still there. but i guess they can be categorized more into the jazz genre rather than rock.

I do have to agree with the ones who voted for U2! they ARE the greatest band in the world! i know i'd never tire listening to them.

Sep 23, 1999, 11:33 AM
For the heavy metal freak fan that I am, I'd go for Slayer, Fear Factory, Machinehead, Christ Agony, Edge of Sanity and all the other bands that you people will never ever get to hear from.

Well, for the local scene, I'd go for Deftones, Limp Bizkit, Korn, Creed, Splender, Athenaeum, U2, Sugar Ray, Lemonheads, and tons more...

porkchop
Sep 24, 1999, 08:06 AM
i suppose u guys r familiar w/ splender's 'yeah whatever'...do check out their album 'halfway down the sky', all the songs r just great.

Personally, U2's still the best for me. Others that i like are the Beastie Boys, Limp Bizkit, Googoo dolls and Aerosmith..
I watched the MTV Video Music Awards last week and Kid Rock definitely rocked the place! He should work on his abs though..hehe :)

All the other bands like Korn and Limp Bizkit are great. They have this real aggressive gnash to their sound.

But I'm a faithful Rage Against the Machine fan. They've got the beat and the lyrics. The lyrics may be militant but who said expressing yourself had to be in favor of a political system that breeds injustice?

If you guys are looking for something different, I recommend Incubus. Anti-gravity is one of their better songs.

Myke: Yup, I'd say so myself. Splender is definitely a good band. My personal favorites are "Spaceboy" and "I think God can Explain". Let's not forget Yeah, Whatever! Say, do you have any leads on where I could buy an album of Mayfield Four? Or Marvelous 3?

Thanks, pal!

Nine Inch Nails...Trent reznor is the man!!

Dave Matthews is relatively new..well kinda but he's damn good!
Creed-what can i say? great new album BTW
Limp Bizkit-i just love Nookie..hehe i dunno why...i scream out the song every time it gets played
Kid rock! BAWITDABA!!! :)

Def Leppard's "Promises" is a nice return to the old-school rock you can drive down some highway at 120 kph and not care. I'm sticking to the old school, although NIN's new album, "Fragile," promises to be one of the best albums of the year!

i forgot to include 'lit' in my list. their first hit was 'my own worst enemy' and now, they're up with 'ziploc'.

and of course, 'soundgarden'. chris cornell is not so bad now that he's on his own though he has mellowed down a bit.

_pepe^^:
yup, i've heard of 311's 'transistor'...
they have another old hit, something with the word 'down' in the title. anyway, have u heard of their new song, it's one of the pick of the weeks over at NU107?

I like Jars of Clay though. They are Christian Comtemporary rock artists.

tri|n|ty: hiphop is here to stay I think ;)

Note: collaboration with Method man and Limp Bizkit. Everlast used to be a rapper. He was in House of Pain. Beastie Boys are Hiphop pioneers who usually crosses over to the Rock genre and vice versa

fReAk, nga pala.. Rodeo Clowns is a song by G. Love & Special Sauce from the album Philadelphonic (1999). :)
Jon *spanks* :P~~
I liked Jars Of Clays' self-titled album back in 1995. The others.. hmm... so-so.. ;) If you like Christian Rock, you could also try listening to DC Talk. :)
Method Man (from Wu Tang Clan) is Fred Durst's (Limp Bizkit's lead vocalist) fave rapper! :D Thus their collaboration in Significant Other (1999), possibly also the reason why House Of Pain performed with Limp Bizkit in the Family Values '98 tour.. hmmm... ;) Also, Everlast used to "jump around" with the rest of House Of Pain, before he became Moslem and started singing the blues. :)

Why do people always say "I like Korn, Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock"? Just because Korn and Limp Bizkit are pals, doesn't mean you have to go ahead and buy their records or consider yourself a fan. Most people are just trendy and jump on the Korn bandwagon just because they saw Freak On A Leash on MTV. Ya' gotta' admit, the video is good, but the song is horrible and completely different from their old stuff. Same with Limp Bizkit, I wasn't dissapointed with 3 Dollar Bills, but when I got SO, I just made the biggest mistake of my life!!! But anyway, Slipknot, Full Devil Jacket and Tool is the ****. You should try listening to non mainstream bands sometime.

POD is not mainstream. I don't think it ever will. It's rap metal, but not as soft as Limp Bizkit. I don't think even girls can plug it in on their walkmans. If your talking about mainstream check out Korn, that's a pretty good example.

To all of those who said that Korn and Limp are the best foreign bands: Ayos! They're quite good although sayang because ngayon lang sumikat ang genre of music nila (Rap/Metal).

To the peeps who said that Kid Rock is one of the best: Errrr...not quite! He can't clearly be associated with the ranks of Korn and Limp. He's a great musician considering the fact that he can play a wide range of instruments pero in my opinion, he can't be "one of the best."

I know a whole lot of you will probably breathe down my neck upon reading my message. Pero you guys have to understand, criticisms ko lang 'to. Peace, ok? *angel*

If you consider Slipknot as noise, then why would you listen to metal in the first place? It just shows that you are forcing yourself on a music genre that you won't fit in.
