Its Game 1 of the finals between SSC and UST..
I wish both teams the best of luck and may there be no injuries..
Kahit na underdogs ang minamahal kong Lady Stags sa match na ito, I'm still hoping that they can find someway to somehow come out of this match as the victor..
All the Lady Stags have to really do is to stay focused and maintain their composure..
They also have to play smart offense and tough defense if they want to win over UST..
UST is the stronger team but I have faith in my Lady Stags..

i dont believe that baste is the underdog here.. ust pa rin ang underdog sa finals na ito..
its just so happens that ust beat them twice, the hard way..
baste is much more intact and lahat are matgal ng naglalaro ng compettive volleyball.. ust some ay baguhan parin. . . unlike baste's veteran players.. :D

Bumalik na naman ang pagiging dependent nila kay Bualee, non-factor si Benito sa quatro pagdating sa block. Ancheta should have to utilize more their other attackers or else, di nila makakaya ang UST!

I have to admit na medyo kinabahan ako bago nagsimula ang game kasi alam kong malakas talaga ang UST..
Pero iba talaga yung nilaro ng mga Lady Stags today..
They came prepared and they played better than UST..
I don't know what happened to UST..
I'm not sure if UST is just off today or they underestimated the Lady Stags..
I guess Coach Roger's experiment of switching Bualee and Benito's positions paid off..
Putting Bualee in the utility position gave Baste more height at the net..
Thus making Baste's blocking more effective..
Devanadera was also spectular..
One quick attack after the other stunned UST's defense..
All in all, UST didn't play bad at all..
I guess, Ortiz's absence also played a vital part in their loss..
What happened to Ortiz by the way?
I hope she feels better soon..

just watched the game.. Although my dear UST lost in straightsets, I still salute them for showing their mighty heart during the game especially in the 3rd set, they were dwn by 11 or 12 points na ata bt they were able to atleast stage a rally that threatened SSC-R. However, their rally came too late. I just noticed, masyado silang tamad humabol ng bola today. Karamihan ng hulog na kayang-kaya pang i-save wala lang, tiningnan lang nila. Maraming sayang talaga. Hopefully, they can get even this Sunday, as well as for the Lady Tams para parehong may game 3:)

I noticed, in all departments thy were outperformed by Baste except for blocking. And, they can never outcheer us especially the YJ is around.

Guys question, akala ko walang nakuhang drums and all yung YJ kasi di sila pinapasok sa school? Anyway, it's still good.. Hehe!

Even I myself have noticed that UST's coaching staff is way too chaotic..
While Shaq is talking, the other guy keeps talking too, add on to that yung girl eh sinasabayan din sila..
I mean no offense to the UST coaching staff pero please, assign just ONE person to relay whatever message you want to say to the girls..
Di yung puro sila nagsasalita at in the end parang nalilito pa tuloy yung mga girls..
Kahit nga ako na nanonood lang, para akong mahihilo kasi di ko alam kung sino ang pakikinggan ko at kung ano yung sinasabi ng isa..
I think, if Coach August is healthy enough to handle the team once again, then I think that is what's best for the UST team..

They have the best set of players right now eh. I mean, even without guest players, I think they would still make it. Anyway, siguro last season sa UAAP, they will be strong if San Sebastian is there. Pero this coming season, there are a lot of teams stronger than them. Hehe.

In the NCAA nga, I'm doubting if they can win their fifth straight championship since Marinel Carolino of Letran plays like older sister Michelle Carolino na, and other players of Letran like Moralejo, Andaya, Fajardo, Burce, etc. are very much improving. Would've been better had Cases stayed. Of course aside from that, may Benilde pa who has a lot of National Team players. :) But Benito is my bet for MVP. She might average 20-30+ points per game. :lol:

In my opinion it is really the fault of the coaching staff. They have not anticipated the moves of the opponent. During the qf set 4 remember that during that time benito and latigay were the openners for ssc. and when bualee entered the court I thought that she will be the utility. I told my dad "naku tay si bualee ang utility mahihirapan si carolino nyan" although hindi naman ganun ang nangyari but still it could be a possibility. Yun na nga ang nangyari yesterday. During the SEA games I noticed that m9 is having hard time to hit the ball everytime she has two tall blockers.

So dapat nung nakita yun ng coaching staff ng ust dapat nung 2nd set nilagay nila si m9 sa likod at si balse ang first openner. Kasi si balse kahit malit or matangakd ang blockers nya kaya nyang palusutin ang palo nya

In my opinion the formation of ust for the game on sunday should be this one:

in one incident sa uaap season 71, feu vs ust, matatalo na yung ust and then itong si bernice ko eh hindi makablock ng maayos. nagtimeout ang ust then grabe sinisigawan na yung mga players lalo na si co si coach shaq at yung isang guy

tong isang guy na to grabe galit kay co sabi ba naman "ikaw (pointing his finger to co) wala kang kontibusyon"

in fact im rooting for them to win this tournament.

The action of the coaching of staff of ust is so predictable that is why baste made a game plan to neutralize it.

I suggest that ust coaching staff should make a different rotation that will surprise SSC. (like what i posted a while ago)

One word that best describes the UST coaching Staff is NEGATIVE. NEGA NEGA NEGA! lolz. AT SABAY-SABAY! Paano ba naman makakapag focus ang mga bata pag ganyan sila. Sana talaga bumaLik na si COach August!

Magagaling man silang trainor pero sa tingin ko di sila magaling na COACH. Hindi lang naman puro skills yung kailangan ng players sa game, minsan mas importante pa gamitin yung puso at tapang... Technical kasi ang coaching style ng ust.

Much more na kailangan nila i-encourage yung mga players pag down at pangit yung laro ng team. Paano ka gaganahan maglaro eh kung yung mismong mga tao nag tuturo sa iyo maglaro eh bumitaw na? It's their job to make sure that the players are physically, mentally, and emotionally ready before they step on the court to play. Ang mangyayari niyan, sa practice lang sila magaling pero pag laro na, talo.

Dapat balanse lahat, ang lalakas nga sa skills nga players mo, wala naman tiwala sa sarili. Minsan kahit anong gawin mong turo mo sa bata hindi niya ito magagawa unless maniwala siyang kaya niya. Dito pumapasok ang leadership ni Ging Balse. Siya na lang ang pinagkukunan ng lakas ng loob ng team kasi hindi ito maibigay ng mga coach.

hi zodiac, wala naman ako sinabi sa post ko na single out ko si coach shaq. I was refering to the coaching staff(coach shaq at yung dalawa pang assistant coaches) at yung style nila mag coach.

Just look at Caballejo, nung UAAP puro errors at halos puro hulog lang ginawa niya, pero now sa Vleague with Ging Balse and Carolino around, ang laki ng improvement at naging POG pa. Sinasabi ko lang na sobrang importante ang mental at emotional support sa isang player.

Its just sad na mismong players yung nag susuffer dahil sa way ng pag coach sa kanila. Kulang lang siguro sa maturity at experience pa talaga.

While it's true that UAAP volleyball is more competitive than NCAA, Baste (alone) is a different story. The only problem I see is the case of "a big fish in a small pond". Thankfully there's V-League where competition is really high.

stonecold, baka na misunderstood mo lang ako. I'm just trying to be realistic and transparent. I'm a UST supporter manalo or matalo pero I'm not blind sa mga kamalian na nakikita ko sa kanila.

Like that game, na-injure na si Maika, sumabay pa si Coach Shaq sa hindi pagkibo..umupo nalang siya at nagpakain siya sa inis niya, tumambak na ang score ng baste, nagsabay-sabay pa yung salita nung tatlo.

Some people here are not blaming the coaches, those are just constructive criticisms na kung ang players kailangan ng maturity, ang coaches kailangan din. :) That's all. I understand both sides don't worry.:)
