Grabe kakauwi ko lang from arena. Sobrang traffic naman at inabot pa ako ng malakas na ulan pero sobrang sulit dahil ang galing galing galing galing galing ng UST kanina! WALANG KABUTAS BUTAS!

Offense=100% (nagreyna si Balse kanina WILKHIE kung napanuod mo lang haha!...lalo na yung combination nila ni Maizo)
Heart and Will=100%
and sir stonecold, ang Coaching Staff=100% din haha! Nakangiti silang tatlo kanina kasi parang hindi ata sila naghabol sa mga scores each sets! galing talaga!!! 3-0 pa. hindi ko inaasahan ito.

Umaasa ako ng 5 sets kasi alam kong pukpukan na itong game 3...pero sobra ang pinakita ng UST. Hindi ko naisip na ganun sila kahanda para ma-sweep ang game 3 at Baste pa ang sweep finals nila! okay na okay talaga!=) At walang nagrelax...lahat todo laro talaga! Nakakaawa lang si Latigay at Bualee and ROces...sila nalang bumubuhay sa team nila kanina. The rest parang sumuko na...kahit si Coach Roger eh...Nanigurado masyado ang UST. Akalo ko magrerelax sila sa 3rd set pero ang power nila mas tumaas pa ata.

THE BEST ANG CROWD KANINA! SUPER SUPPORT!

Mga napansin ko haha...

MAIZO: Medyo may errors siya kanina pero ang ganda ng game niya talaga. Akala ko nga kapag nagtuloy-tuloy yun siya magiging Finals MVP. Sobrang pinahirapan niya ang Baste. haha!

CAROLINO: Hindi siya ganun kalaking factor unlike the other games kasi nababantayan siya maige nila Suzanne Roces pero she made crucial points during end of the sets. galing M9! Nakita ko siya kanina sa 2nd set tehnical timeout sabi niya sa mga kateam niya "ATIN ITO!" with an assurance smile na parang ramdam na ramdam na nila ang panalo kanina. haha!

BALSE: Memorize na ito ng lahat! Kahit kailan ata hindi naglaro ng panget si Balse. Napakalakas niya kanina at napatumba niya si Bualee sa isang napakalakas na middle attack! oks na oks!

CO: Biggest added factor siya. Ang ganda ng nilaro niya. Siya ang dapat sisihin ng Baste kasi nag-step up siya ng sobra at nahirapan sila manalo. Best game of Bernice Co.

ORTIZ: Ewan ko ba. 90-100% ata ang success rate niya kanina kasi halos lahat ng middle spike niya score eh. Isa din siya sa mga dapat sisihin ng baste kasi hindi inaasahan ang ganda ng laro niya.

CURATO: Siya ang salarin. Siya ang pinaka-nagimprove. Never say die na siya ngayon. Ang ganda ng laro niya as in.

DIMACULANGAN: Hindi na ako nagulat nung naging MVP siya. Ang ganda ng distribution niya kanina eh at lahat ng play taas ng success rate. Congrats DMAC!

Nakakagulat lang hindi masyadong puno ang Arena katulad ng game 2. Yun pala pagka-CR ko ay sobrang sobra lakas ng ulan. Kaya naman pala onti lang ang nakarating.

CONGRATULATIONS UST for the 4th title! Nakabawi na kayo sa San Sebastian sa nangyari last conference. And you deserve your title sobra dahil hindi lang BASTE ang tinalo niyo kung hindi ang strongest line-up of Baste sa history nila sa V-league at sweep pa both game 2 and 3!!! Super deserve niyo ito!

I felt bad for the court side reporter. She felt uncomfortable because Gorayeb was so arrogant during the interview. He was like, "Wala sa amin ang pressure!" And he said something like, they already won Game 1 so the pressure was on UST.

Apparently, Gorayeb doesn't know how well UST responds to pressure.

Everything the Tigresses did right in forcing the rubber match with a straight-set win last Sunday, they did again yesterday, plus more, as the España-based squad reasserted its might on the net, held SSC’s top scorer to a single-digit output and showed up with a more cohesive unit to clinch the win that mattered most.

MVP Mary Jean Balse lived up to her billing by leading UST’s charge with 18 hits while Aiza Maizo came through with 14 points as the Tigresses avenged their loss to the Lady Stags in last year’s second conference finals.

More importantly, the victory made UST the winningest team in the league, sponsored by Shakey’s Pizza and Cherifer, with four championships, leaving behind La Salle with three.

Bualee, the league’s top scorer with a 17-hit norm in the final, was held to just eight points, her conference-low, leaving the brunt of scoring to Laurence Ann Latigay, Suzanne Roces and Analyn Benito.

But the troika had no answer to UST’s firepower with Maika Ortiz, Bernice Co and Michelle Carolino combining for 24 points and Rhea Dimaculangan, the league’s top setter, coming up big with four blocks for a six-point performance.

The Lady Stags tried to extend the match as it fought back to within, 22-23, in the third on a Latigay hit but Maizo countered with her own on another superb set-up by Dimaculangan before Maizo blocked Benito’s attack to clinch the set, the match and the crown.

“We offer this victory to coach August Sta. Maria, “ said UST mentor Cesael delos Santos. “It’s a nice feeling to win for the first time. At least we got back at the Lady Stags after we lost to them last year.”

Sta. Maria steered UST to its first three titles in the league, organized by Sports Vision and backed by Accel, Mikasa, Mighty Bond and OraCare, the last in 2007 before he suffered a stroke in March last year.

“Our Game 2 win was a big boost to my players’ confidence. They gave their 100 percent,” said delos Santos.

San Sebastian took the opener of the best-of-three title series, 25-17, 25-22, 25-19, last Thursday but UST evened things up with a similar straight-set 25-21, 25-22, 25-23 win last Sunday, setting the stage for what observers had predicted to be a no-holds-barred contest between the league’s top teams.

But UST had other things in mind.

Scoring on quick plays from superb set-ups by Dimaculangan, the Tigresses seized control early and had an answer for each San Sebastian comeback.

The Tigresses, with Ortiz on the attack, cashed in on the Lady Stags poor reception in the first set to build a 14-7 lead. Although they sputtered in the next stretch that enabled SSC to close in at 17-19, the Tigresses picked up four straight points to take the opener.

Balse then took over in the second, scoring on her power game as UST quickly erased a 2-5 deficit to surge ahead at 17-12.

But Roces stepped up and worked with Bualee on the attack as SSC forced a 20-all count. But the Tigresses simply shrugged off the threat and re-imposed their strength and will to win the next five points capped by Co’s service ace.

It was the fifth time in four years that Bualee had failed to steer SSC tot he championship, missing the team’s title romp last year.

MANILA, Philippines - University of Santo Tomas validated its supremacy in the Shakey's V-League by walloping San Sebastian College, 25-18, 25-20, 25-22, on Tuesday for an unprecedented fourth tournament crown.

Jeered and cheered by an overflowing crowd at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan, the Tigresses were simply unstoppable. UST now has the most number of championships won since the league began six years ago.

Rhea Dimaculangan set her teammates up for several decisive hits with the last excellent toss translated by skipper Aiza Maizo into a kill that cut a searing comeback by the Stags and pushed the Tigresses closer to the championship point.

Maizo's outstretched arms then deflected Joy Benito's attempt to knot the count from 23-24 in the third set that cemented UST's dominance in the first conference with a 2-1 victory over the Stags in the best-of-three finals.

”We're offering this victory to coach August Sta. Maria,'' said UST mentor Shaq Delos Santos, whose ravenous pack of Tigresses now topped the De La Salle Lady Archers' three championship titles.

UST is hoping their win in the tournament will inspire the team’s campaign in the forthcoming UAAP season. “Hopefully, in the upcoming UAAP, we will be able to win again since not most of our players played for this conference,” said Delos Santos.

Sta. Maria steered the Tigresses to three championship titles, the last of which came in 2007 second conference before the multi-titled coach retired in March 2008 due to heart attack.

Tournament MVP Mary Jean Balse unloaded 18 points for the Tigresses, who got 73 excellent sets from Dimaculangan, the Finals MVP.

``When Ging (Balse) won the MVP, it kind of inspired us to play better,'' said the 18-year-old Dimaculangan, a former UST high school standout, who added she never expected to end up win the MVP award for the best-of-three series

Led by Thai import Jeng Bualee, the Stags stunned the Tigresses with a straight-set triumph in Game 1 but UST, motivated by Balse's second MVP crown, bounced back to even up the series.

The Tigresses exploited the Stags' poor reception in the opening set as they raced to a 14-7 spread on a kill by Maika Ortiz.

Gathering steam, the Stags persevered to stop the bleeding and cashed in on a Balse error to make it 17-19. But UST scored four straight hits on several setup plays by Dimaculangan to move ahead, 23-17, and eventually grab the set.

The Tigresses had a slow start in the second frame and allowed the Stags to charge ahead, 5-2, before Balse imposed her might on the net to spearhead a UST uprising that put them back on top, 17-12.

It was then that Bualee and Suzanne Roces buckled down to work, forcing a deadlock at 20 that could had gone all the way for the Stags. Bernice Co, however, abruptly snuffed SSC's chance to equalize with a set-winning ace in the second set.

I agree... sobrang close nila... no exemption sa celebration and hugs sa bawat players. Kaya kung titingnan mo sila sobrang heartwarming ang mararamdaman mo sa tagumpay nila, dahil they show "their heart on the game", at tsaka "friendship with teamwork". Also they were just having fun, smiling, feel every score they get, kaya I love watching UST Tigresses playing volleyball than other teams.
Salute ako kay Queen Mary Jean Balse and "M9" Carolino, for they gave miracle to the team. Bow naman ako kay Capt. Maizo, proven both UAAP and Vleague, she's really the Monster Superstar!
As for D-Mac, the new girl of the best players. For the team, who's still very young and has more room for improvement, showed everyone in the league that nothing could stop (kahit mga veterans pa) a hungry tiger for their 4th Championship...

Tama si Jecjec, maswerte talaga ang USTe kapag umuulan.
After ng training Monday night, nagdasal ang team na umulan. If that happens they said, its a sign na mananalo sila ng championship.
Nung gabi na iyun at buong Tuesday umulan. Todo-todo ang ulan at todo-todong biyaya ang binigay ng Maykapal sa UST WVT at sa mga UST supporters na hindi nagsawa mag cheer sa favorite nilang team dahil nakuha nila uli ang Vleague title.

Ang sarap ng feeling na nabawian ng USTe ang SSC. A lot said that after UST loss last Thursday in Game 1 of the Finals, SSC will already bag the crown. But the team proved their detractors wrong by winning Games 2 and 3 in convincing fashion.

Tama rin sinabi ni Manong Boyet na kapag si MJ ang MVP ng Vleague, hindi natatalo USTe sa FInals. Talagang pinagpala ang team ng bayan.

Kudos to all the players from those who played and who are on the bench because hindi sila nawalan ng tiwala sa sarili nila.
Special mention to Jec Curato who gave her best to make sure na maganda ang defense ng USTe sa likuran. Kahit madami siyang na receive na criticisms before as a libero for the team, she used this as a motivation to do better in that position. Kung may isa pang Most Imroved Player (MIP) sa vleague tourney, si Jessica na iyun.

Kudos also to the coaches namely Shaq, Norman and Vilet. Kahit madami rin silang natatanggap na criticisms sa mga fans particularly on how they coach the team, they still managed to steer the team to the championship and bring back the glory days of UST women's volleball.

Sana sa next Vleague at UAAP season, magtuloy-tuloy ang success ng team.

This should be a big lesson for San Sebastian. Yes, they won fair and square against UST last time. But that was a long time ago. With their win-at-all cost attitude, it boomeranged on them. Why? They were not able to handle the pressure of finishing the championships against a hungry and a much-improved UST Women's Volleyball Team.

ako, malaki pa rin ang tiwala ko kay juday. si jec nga, ang laki na ng inimprove eh. it took her 2 years to be where is now. juday is just on her first year, may igagaling pa 'yan. kelangan lang niyang 'wag kabahan at ipakita niya na kaya niya. sabi nga nu'ng iba, si venus din naman, nung rookie year niya, ma-error at madali kabahan. i am not saying this because juday will be the next venus. but because she will definitely improve.

as for m9, she may not have won an individual award this season, but boy, the young players of today can only wish to be as good as her when they reach her age.

Wow, Dimaculangan as the Finals MVP. First time ba na setter nagka award nito? Eversince she took Denise's post...alam kong maganda talaga kalalabasan. More years pa of wonderful setting. UST is lucky to have her.

Balse, Maizo, Ortiz, Carolino, Co all did their job. But kudos to the most improved player on the team and one of the -- sa whole league... Jessica Curato. I couldn't hide my admiration on her super improvement. With her improvement, parang gumaling din dumepensa ang ibang UST players.

That's why its exciting this coming UAAP. Lasalle is defending, FEU with a new look (without daquis), UST with Tabaquero back and the addition of excellent rookies, ADMU with talented players!

Baste's super line up will be a history for now. Latigay, Devanadera and Ancheta are going to graduate..These are excellent players though I'm sure Coach Roger has a lot of promising rookies as well.

MANILA, Philippines - Minutes after bagging their fourth title in the Shakey's V-League, the Santo Tomas Tigresses are already looking forward to another crown in the country's premiere women's volley tournament.

"Hopefully, we could sustain our good performance in the next conference. We will try to improve in every game," said UST coach Cesael delos Santos, who dedicated their title victory over San Sebastian College to the Tigresses’ former coach August Sta. Maria.

It was Sta. Maria who steered the squad to their three previous championships before suffering from stroke in March last year.

While the fans were bracing for a tough battle , the Tigresses had a different plan, dominating the Lady Stags in three sets, 25-18, 25-20, 25-22, to win their no-tomorrow contest and the title Tuesday night at The Arena in San Juan.

With championship no. 4, UST became the winningest squad in the league, moving ahead of La Salle, with which it shared the distinction before Tuesday night's triumph.

However, the title did not come easily as most Tigresses fans had imagined.

After booking the top seeding in the eliminations and sweeping the quarterfinals, most thought that the Tigresses would easily dispose of the Lady Stags, whom UST had already defeated twice before the finals.

But San Sebastian, the no. 2 team after the eliminations, was raring to prove its mettle and it did just that with a 25-17, 25-22, 25-19 win in Game 1.

That surprising victory provided San Sebastian the chance to duplicate its victory over Santo Tomas in last season's second conference finals.

But the Game 1 defeat only made the Tigresses deadlier and quicker, if now wilder.

Showing the characters of a true Tigress on a hunt, UST forced the title series to its full route with a vengeful straight-set 25-21, 25-22, 25-23 win Sunday.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

"The key to our victory was our blocking, defense and our ability in hitting the ball well," explained Rhea Dimaculangan, who was the conference's top setter.

With Dimaculangan playing her role to the hilt, MVP Mary Jean Balse, Michelle Carolino, Aiza Maizo, Maika Ortiz and Bernice Co were able to do their thing well, hitting the opponents with well-positioned spikes.

After ng training Monday night, nagdasal ang team na umulan. If that happens they said, its a sign na mananalo sila ng championship.
Nung gabi na iyun at buong Tuesday umulan. Todo-todo ang ulan at todo-todong biyaya ang binigay ng Maykapal sa UST WVT at sa mga UST supporters na hindi nagsawa mag cheer sa favorite nilang team dahil nakuha nila uli ang Vleague title.


Kaya naman pala. Sabi kasi ni Coach Shaq sa interview niya, nung nagkita-kita daw sila before the championship game ay magaan na ang loob nila, nagtatawanan at nakangiti lahat. Parang in their hearts, may assurance na na something good would happen. And it did! :)

MANILA, Philippines – If other teams don’t beef up any time soon, University of Santo Tomas could stretch the dominance and line itself for another crown in the Shakey’s V-League.

UST coach Cesael Delos Santos has trained his sights on extending the championship run with an almost intact lineup ready to conquer the tournament again in the second conference.

With only Bernice Co leaving the four-time champion Tigresses in October, Delos Santos will still have two-time MVP Mary Jean Balse and a host of reliable players that brought down the San Sebastian Stags in their best-of-three finals.

Besides Balse, Rhea Dimaculangan, the conference’s top setter and the Finals MVP, will be back along with guest player Michelle Carolino, Aiza Maizo, Maika Ortiz and Jessica Curato.

``The key to victory was our blocking, defense and the ability to hit the ball well,’’ said Dimaculangan, who shone in UST’s 25-18, 25-20, 25-22 do-or-die Game 3 victory over the Stags.

``Despite our loss in Game 1, we were not discouraged,’’ she added.

Aside from Dimaculangan and heavy scorers Balse, Carolino and Maizo, there were also unsung heroes for the Tigresses who foiled SSC’s prolific net attackers.

Co had significant offensive contributions while Curato sparkled as UST’s last line of defense, performing her best in the finals that kept SSC’s spikers from mounting a lethal assault.

Jeng Bualee, SSC’s top scorer who averaged 17 per game, was limited to a conference-low of eight points in the final game, leaving the brunt of the scoring to Laurence Ann Latigay, Suzanne Roces and Analyn Benito to no avail.

``Hopefully, we could sustain our good performance in the next conference,’’ said Delos Santos. ``We will try to improve every game.’’

It was UST's fourth championship in the league, making the school the winningest team after previously sharing top honors with La Salle.

But it didn't come easy although the Tigresses made an impressive run in the eliminations to the quarters and the semis before dropping the opener of the best-of-three title playoff to San Sebastian.

The Lady Stags also had a solid campaign majority of the conference, almost matching the Tigresses' remarkable drive despite losing to the Espana-based squad in two times that they clashed in the tournament.

SSC came armed to the teeth in the finals, taking the opener, 25-17, 25-22, 25-19, to spark hopes of another successful campaign by the Recoletos-based spikers after beating the same team in last year's second conference finale.

But UST had a mission. Flashing its resiliency, the Tigresses bounced back from a harrowing Game One loss with a straight-set 25-21. 25-22, 25-23 victory last Sunday as they stayed on track for another title conquest.

The rubber match proved to be the Tigresses' domain as they dominated the Lady Stags with their A-game anchored on a superb all-around performance by the entire squad.

Hindi sure kung available si Balse at Carolino sa next vleague dahil sa kasama sila sa ASEAN games this December.

Balse is part of the RP women's volleyball team while M9 is part of the beach volleyball team. Busy na sila pag nagkataon.

There is a possibility na bumalik si Jec sa open. Pero hindi pa sure yun. Aside from Banaticla and Santiago, may dalawang magaling na libero ang USTe. The other can also play the opener.

In my opinion, it is not a good idea to change the playing position of Jec Curato. She has already established her chemistry with the team as libero. Even to say na standout libero's ang papasok, still they are rookie to the team. It takes time to gel. Besides which, ang dami nang open spikers this year - Angeli, Caballejo, Banaticla and the newbie. Let jec play as libero plus the Palaro awardee para just in case na they adapt the rule with two liberos, eh di swak.

Off-court, Mac Gepuela handles the volleyball programs of Miriam College, a WNCAA powerhouse, at the elementary, high school and college levels together with husband Louie and assistant Michelle Laborte. As a long time coach, she has intimate knowledge of the intricacies and subtleties of the sport.

She certainly knows her volleyball. Her formidable grasp of the game plus her confident, authoritative and assuring manner of annotating the nuances of the action all combine to turn fans from mere watchers and spectators to serious students who understand and appreciate the rules of engagement and their dynamics.

Thanks to her, a lot of people can now understand and tell the difference between an “illegal backrow attack” and a “rotational fault”.



THE COMMENTATOR

Mozzy Crisologo was a student and a volleyball player at Maryknoll High School (now Miriam High School) who played for and blossomed under the tutelage of Coach Mac Gepuela. She soared to even greater heights when she played volleyball for the University of Sto. Tomas varsity squad and later on, for the national team.

Mozzy eventually met and married Bong Ravena, a star player from the University of the East men’s basketball team who went on and made a name for himself in the professional PBA. As parents deeply involved in sports, they have instilled a very healthy, active and athletic lifestyle in their three kids.

Their eldest son, Kiefer Ravena, is currently a third year high school student at the Ateneo de Manila High School, a fast-rising basketball star who has the potential to reach or even surpass his father's achievements. Another son, Thirdy Ravena has played on championship teams for the Ateneo Grade School together with Aaron Black, son of Ateneo men’s basketball team Coach Norman Black.

Wow! Siya pala yun!. :D I have to say gustong gusto kong naririnig ang boses niya sa mga broadcasts kasi halatang may alam siya sa volleyball (although syempre, di maiiwasan ang mga mali here and there).

Saka gusto ko yung minsan tinatawag niya by nickname yung mga players, tulad ng "Mumay Vivas", at IIRC "Gela Benting".

First and foremost team ko is FEU, kasi dahil kay Wendy Semana saka sa Season 70 line up na engganyo akong mag stay tune sa UAAP volleyball.

Pero as months passed by natutunan kong ma appreciate ang ibang team, kasi nga naman hindi lang isang team ang bumubuo sa UAAP Volleyball. Kaya from liking FEU at first nagustuhan ko na yung liga as a whole then V-League.

Lilet Mabayyad was a former rookie of the year awardee sa UAAP during UAAP season 68. Ka batch niya si Angge Tabaquero, Che Balse, Denise Tan, Aiza Maizo. Magaling si Lilet lalo na sa blocking. Medyo humina lang laro niya lately dahil kulang sa focus. Pero kapag sineryoso niya at nagkaroon ng direction, yari ka.

As far as the V-League going commercial or semi pro is concerned..
From what Mr.Ricky Palou said in his interview before season 6's 1st conference started, in about a year or two years raw..
So if all goes well, baka next season eh semi pro na ang V-League..
Don't really know what the rules will be but most likely, papayagan na ang mga graduate students from their schools na sumali na ulit sa mga teams nila and in doing so, they will be considered as regular members of the team instead of GPs..
Baka mayroon ring ruling na same dun sa PBA where teams are required to have at least 1 import in their line-up during 1st conference and an all Filipina line-up sa 2nd conference..
I don't really know for now kung ano ba talaga yung mga rules once the league goes semi pro or commercialized..
But I'm hoping for the best and hopefully, the veterans will come out to play once again and give us Filipino more reasons to enjoy the V-League..

UST wins 4th V-league plum

THE UST Lady Spikers captured a record fourth Shakey’s V-League title with a resounding 25-18, 25-20, 25-22 sweep of arch-rival San Sebastian College Lady Stags in Game 3 of their best-of-three finals showdown last June 17 at the Arena in San Juan.

“I did not expect that the game would be decided by just three sets. I just told them to focus and not to relax too much because if you gave San Sebastian a chance to pull away, we would surely pay the price,” coach Cesael delos Santos told the Varsitarian.

Coming off a morale-boosting 25-21, 25-22, 25-23 victory in Game 2 to extend the series, the Lady Spikers went on an early rampage, posting a 14-7 first-set lead anchored on the superb playmaking of tournament Best Setter and Finals MVP Rhea Dimaculangan who made 73 good set-ups to teammates Mary Jean Balse, Michelle Carolino and Aiza Maizo that set the UST juggernaut in motion.

UST found itself trailing, 2-5, at the start of the second canto. But the Lady Spikers quickly drew level at 7-all on Balse’s kills before completely seizing the upper hand,14-7, at the expense of San Sebastian’s woeful serving and attacking.

Thai import Bualee Jaroensri caught fire in the ensuing plays to lock the count at 18-all. But a 2-1 exchange at the turn put UST ahead once more, 20-19, before Lady Spiker Bernice Co fired a string of aces to settle the outcome.

Brimming with confidence, the Lady Spikers opened the third set with an 8-4 advantage.

UST further outscored San Sebastian, 13-8 as Carolino repeatedly thwarted San Sebastian’s poor back row defense with crosscourt hits.

With San Sebastian on the brink of ouster, Lady Stags mainstay Laurence Ann Latigay waxed hot on the offensive end to cut the deficit by one, 16-15.

Yet the Lady Spikers remained unfazed, responding with a 7-5 tear to jack up the lead, 23-19.

Although San Sebastian would threaten anew, 23-22, there was no stopping UST’s date with destiny as Maizo nailed back-to-back kills to carry the Lady Spikers at setpoint.

Balse took scoring honors for UST with 18 points while Latigay contributed 13 for the Lady Stags.

Maizo meanwhile clinched the Best Blocker award.

“Our good conditioning and motivation were the major reasons behind this victory. I told them not to lose hope even though we were down in the series and they responded well,” Delos Santos said. “I give all the credits to the One on top, coach August Sta. Maria, my family, and the whole Thomasian community.”

In Game 1 last June 11, UST absorbed a 25-17, 25-22, 25-19 shocker from San Sebastian to end the Lady Spikers’ winning streak back in the semifinals.

Kahit sigiro walang Blase as their GP sa UST this coming conference, team to beat pa rin ang UST. Yung possible regular players nila ay intact adn with addition of powerful rookies. ( Maizo, Tabaquero, Dimaculangan, Ortiz, Santiago and Banaticla)

No offense though, but if the RP Team has this line-up, the Philippines could only get a Bronze. If let's say the RP Team First Six would be composed of Nene Bautista, Ging Balse, Michelle Carolino, Suzanne Roces, Rubie de Leon and probably Aiza Maizo, maybe we can. The common waterloo of Filipino players is how to defend a quick attack. That is why notice that when an international team is against the Philippines, quick and running attacks are often used. No Filipino Libero has shown this type of skill yet.

Vietnam players are actually a notch higher than us. Some of their National Team Players are playing for European and Asian Club Teams. Just to remind you guys that the Vietnam team is I think 6th or 7th in Asia. Nguyen Thi Ngoc, their best player no doubt, can be compared to the other Thailand volleyball team players.

^^ they may not even get a bronze medal at all. I think the best all-around player that they only have is Ging. No college player is part of the rp team. Nene and Michelle are part of the Beach volley. Am not sure though with Su.

I also noticed, yeah. floor defense has been our waterloo especially for quick attacks even from Indonesia. Kaya lang talaga tayo nanalo sa Indonesia is because of our superb blocking. Masyado pa talagang hilaw ang RP team natin. although i still support our RP team. Bagging a bronze medal is for me, the best they can get this SEA Games.

As far as I can remember, our National Team participated in the VTV Cup two summers back. And against Myanmar, South East Asia's #6 team, we lost in three straight sets. To think that we have De Leon, Roces, Balse, Bernal, Bautista, Tabaquero, Mabbayad, Maizo, Tan and many other good players that time.
