Magic Potions' Medicated astringent contains clindamycin, tretinoin, pore minimizer, hydroquinone. #1, #2, and #3 differs in concentration of the actives. #1 is the mild one, #2 is the moderate one and #3 is the strong one. Bleaching solutions such as hydroquinone can be useful for people with fair skin, though hydroquinone can sometimes irritate and temporarily redden the skin. This possibility of irritation with hydroquinone makes it unsuitable for people with darker skin tones. It is possible that the irritation associated with hydroquinone can over stimulate the higher concentration of melanocytes found in dark skin types. This can lead to hyperpigmentation (dark spotting).

Bleaching solutions work by killing the melanin in hyperpigmented areas. Over time, this will lead to a fading of spots. It will not affect the natural colour of the skin (meaning it will not lighten the skin beyond its genetically determined colour).

Important:

If a hydroquinone formula is used, it is imperative that the treated area is completely protected from the sun. Exposure to sunlight will kill the hydroquinone and render it useless. Make sure you wear a full-spectrum sunblock at all times.
