If MBT, WVT and MVT players have their own thread, I think its also valuable to have a dedicated thread for the one and only UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe. Im sure they've plenty of fans out there wanting to know what's going on with the squad and what's their preparation for the next CDC. You are also free to post pics, put suggestions, and hey, this thread can also be used to educate people on new stunts, tosses, pyramids, tumblings, etc.

Im hoping that other Pep Squads fans out there would make their own thread as well.

I just hope that there would be no bashing, bickering and taunting here.

excited nako mag start ang season para makita ko na ulit sila. hehehe they should consider joining other competition aside from the CDC. that way hindi naman sila mahirap hagilapin and they can practice narin at the same time. hirap kasi they can't focus on cheerleading kasi they have tons of other stuff to do. i suggest they form group within salinggawi. UST salinggawi pep squad, a part of SDT that focuses on cheerleading. the one SDT fields for competition. we have to admit, salinggawi is a dance troupe, but it's in cheerleading where we find majority of their fans. me for one, haven't seen even one of their dance concerts live. i just walk past by it at school before, pero pag naririnig ko na nag drudrums, pasok kagad ako, just like other people i know :P

I'm a big fan of UST SDT and of UP Pep Squad as well. I'm hoping big time for a well renewed routine this coming september and still keeping my fingers crossed to get back the title .=)

me too, it'll be harder now for UST to get the title back. while SDT is on hiatus with cheerleading and focusing on their folk dance, street dance, etc., its 2 biggest competitors ( UP and FEU ) is practicing and joining competitions everywhere. katakot tuloy this upcoming season. puro apprentice nanaman siguro SDT, halos puro bata and petite and slim pa mga built nila, they've got lots to learn from the seniors. di naman kasi katulad ng UP pep squad, mga 30 - 40 plus years old na yata yung mga pinapasali nila sa CDC, jusko! ang lalaki ng mga kaha! gano katagal ba sila nag aaral sa UP? repeater ba sila? hindi ba sila pinapa graduate ng school? shifter? masteral? did they take med twice ( lol ) or sadyang mukha lang silang mga matatanda? well..

Yah sila nga yung nasa Western Union. I think matagal nang ina-eye ng Western Union ang Salinggawi pero hindi pa nila alam ang magiging concept kung sakali.... Imagine pagsamahin si Cesar Montano at UST SDT in one commercial? Parang imposible, pero ito na nga at ang ganda ng pagkakagawa hehehe.

Congrats Salinggawi, I think this is the 4th commercial na nagawa ng SDT. Pero ito yung commercial na 60% ay sila ang feature. Hehehe. Kudos!!

Hehe, base kasi ito sa kakilala ko na insider. Tsaka base na rin sa nabasa ko na recently sumali ang UP pep sa matinding competition abroad. Of course andun ang suporta natin sa SDT pero just like sa MBT natin, nasa rebuilding stage ang dance troupe natin.

Sana nga lang by September ready na sila sa CDC.

Sobrang batang-bata pa kasi ng UST SDT members. Pero kaya yan. Umpisahan na nila ng training, anyway pasukan na next week.

Masyadong naging abala sila sa mga dancing stints nila at may commercial pa silang ginawa, so I guess its already time to practice for the CDC.

Well, hindi naman disclaimer, setting the proper expectation lang for this season.

Anyway, sana yung mga ibang nagpopost dito, refrain from mentioning other schools. Nakakarindi rin kasi.

Proper training lang dapat nila simulan, huwag silang magpaapekto sa psywars ng ibang squads at fans nito.

Kamusta na kaya yung bagong recruits nila?

Pwede bang ikaw din ay medyo huminahon at huwag kang masyadong batas militar, ano naman ang pakialam mo kung gusto nilang mag share ng information dito sa PEx? Ikaw na ho ba ang moderator/administrator dito para pagsabihan ang mga tao dito kung ano at hindi nila pwedeng isulat?

Kung may problema ka sa mga kapwa mo o nag papangap na maka ust pero hindi, huwag mong turuan ang iba kung ano at hindi nila dapat gawin. Malalaki na ho ang mga yan at kahit papano nakakaaliw din naman kung minsan. Huwag ninyo sanang gawin Ustexchange itong pex kung saan pag hindi ninyo gusto ang sinasabi eh edit to the max kayo. Maski sa commercial, sobrang batang-bata pa talaga nila tignan... Sobrang fresh, kaya siguro sila ang kinuha sa commercial... Atleast ang UST SDT commercial sa primetime lagi pinapalabas... Kahit siguro mga nasa 4th year college na sila, im sure mukha pa rin silang fresh and lovely, at hindi tuyot at nagmumukhang matanda...

Production number?...Alin ang production number doon sa performance nung admu last ncc?..pano ka naman makakagawa ng production number with a 2-minute 30-second routine?..As far as i can remember doon sa routine nila, medyo tumaas yung difficulty level nila considering na they only had 10 boys compared to the other teams which had around 15-20. Nakagawa parin sila ng mahihirap na stunts and pyramids despite that...Can you point out exactly what was the "production number" segment?...ANG TAO NGA NAMAN, KAHIT WALANG BASIS, MAKA-COMMENT LANG!...:rotflmao:

And please, wag mo isali ang ibang school dito, didn't you understand the title of the thread?..Come up with your own thread kung hindi naman about the Salinggawi ang sasabihin mo...

Tingin ko kayo mismo di n'yo pa nababasa yung title ng thread eh. Diba about UST SDT? So, bakit kailangan "nyo" pag-usapan ang ibang teams diba? Guys wag niyo na include ang UP or FEU dito. UST Salinggawi thread ito. Gawa nalang kayo ng 2009 UAAP Cheerdance thread para dun nalang kayo magbashing anyways malapit na start ng UAAP season.

Anyways back to the topic. Advice ko sa UST sana tanggalin na nila yung signature moves nila especially the Pirouette this coming CDC para maiwasan na yung paulit ulit comment. Agree ako sa iyong obserbasyon, Altwegg. Nagsulputan na naman ang mahilig mambaboy ng thread tulad nina clawed_out, Tomasaiyan, ustfyt!, at rx_Tomasino. Kaya di na ako magtataka kung sila'y ma-ban na naman at masara na naman ang sinulid.

For your information, hinding hindi ididikit ng salinggawi ang pangalan nila sa isang UP pep lang. Alam mo naman siguro kung ano credentials at history ng salinggawi dance troupe para ihambing lang sa isang UP pep squad. Nakapagperform na sila sa mga invitationals abroad as a dance troupe, they usually represent sa mga invitational conferences sa Pinas at abroad. So please lang, yang mga squatter na ugali ng mga taga UP dito e pigil pigilan niyo.

Ang bitter niyo naka 5 title lang kayo e akala niyo napantayan niyo na ang 8 titles ng UST salinggawi.

The real reason why UST has losed to UP twice in a row is probably because of KARMA..Karma na yan sa UST..masyado kasing mayabang..looking down on it's competitor just because nanalo sila 5 in a row..yung mga panalo ng UST eh part of history na yun..past is past..move on.dont dwell in the past too much..what matters really is the present..sino ba ang current champion at magiging champion sa hinaharap? yun ang dapat pagtuonan ng pansin..i can compare UST to Oscar Dela Hoya,always bragging about his achievements in the past pero sa present,wala naman binatbat..talo naman..on the other hand,here comes UP just like manny pacquiao, matapang, walang takot kahit kaninobasta nasa lugar lang..always striving to be the best kaya naman best boxer of the year sya ngayon..I hope UP will emerge as champion again this year..:rotflmao:

me too, it'll be harder now for UST to get the title back. while SDT is on hiatus with cheerleading and focusing on their folk dance, street dance, etc., its 2 biggest competitors ( UP and FEU ) is practicing and joining competitions everywhere. katakot tuloy this upcoming season. puro apprentice nanaman siguro SDT, halos puro bata and petite and slim pa mga built nila, they've got lots to learn from the seniors. di naman kasi katulad ng UP pep squad, mga 30 - 40 plus years old na yata yung mga pinapasali nila sa CDC, jusko! ang lalaki ng mga kaha! gano katagal ba sila nag aaral sa UP? repeater ba sila? hindi ba sila pinapa graduate ng school? shifter? masteral? did they take med twice ( lol ) or sadyang mukha lang silang mga matatanda? well..

joining competitions everywhere? saan yung everywhere na yun? alam ko FEU joined the NCC, while part of UP Pep's team was on the Asian Cheerleading championships....aside from that saan pa sila sumali? Everywhere na ba yun?

Sana nga those new students, who are apparently gymnasts would step up...UST-SDT needs big improvement in tumblings and tossings.

I also suggest na regular mag-gym ang mga guys to firm up the muscles and of course para mahagis nila ang mga tossers nang mas mataas pa.

SDT ang nagpasikat ng CDC hindi lang sa UAAP kundi sa buong Pilipinas. Ang mga nangbabash mga baguhan lang at hindi alam ang history ng CDC sa UAAP.

Nagsimula lang magsulputan ang mga yan nung nanalo, at dumaming parang kabute nung kalaunan. Parang A(h1N1) kase ang mga yan, parang epidemic.

Papunta pa lang sila, naka-ilang ikot na ang SDT. Kaya naman nakikipagpatayang makahilera ang SDT. Ganun lang kasimple yun.

Magaling ang SDT walang duda. Magaling din ang UP Pep squad. Walang duda din dun. So lahat magaling. Pana-panahon lang yan.

Ang problema kahit nananalo na nga ang koponan niyo, wala pa rin kayong tigil. Panalo na nga kayo and asa inyo ang "bragging rights" for this year -- eh ano pa kaya reaction niyo kapag natalo kayo?

I never thought they can do a thing like that, and they're supposed to be a "Dance Troupe".
I think that's what sets them apart from others. :)

They're excellent, versatile and very graceful. The Salinggawi is poetry in motion. :)

It's in the "Cheer" part of their routine last year. Where they backbend to form a wick to signal a countdown to the toss. Actually, I think it's a Side-Sumi Twist Toss because the flyer did a twist. I think what they did was a variation of the kick twist toss. :D

The side-sumi toss is somehow like a kick-half twist-layout toss.. If you can perform the skills then you are on your way of doing a kick-fulltwisting layout toss if you have proper training (toss na ginagawa ng University of Kentucky and other squads)..

The same principle applies to the back-pike tosses of UST. If you have perfected this toss plus the double full twisting toss, you are on your way in doing a Pike-double fulltwisting toss..

Sorry for the technical terms.. I'm just fascinated..

So it wasn't perfect. Kahit naman yung pinakita mo sa UP eh, hindi perfect. Bumaluktot yung legs nya sa full twist.

Did you view it in HQ? If you did, you can see the form of the legs. You can also try the Version 2 provided. So far, that's the closest thing we've got to view the backside. But I know there is a clearer version uploaded by someone. It must have been taken out.

About onyx's provided vid, the angle of the camera is on the right side facing the judges, not to mention it's far. And with those uniforms, It would be hard to spot the form of the X-Out Full toss.

UST's X-Out Full is similar to what the girl did in your sample video.

yeah, she kinda just went through the motions. she didn't actually hit the tuck. it was pretty, but i agree it could have been better. she x-ed a bit early. if she did the tuck first she'd probably X later and full out of it like is the more in vogue way these days.

They somewhat have the same observation as you have. But the difference is, they saw it clearly unlike Salinggawi's vid. And they both agreed she X-ed, but it's not that evident. You might say the same about Salinggawi's, but an x-out is still an x-out.

It's ok if you believe otherwise, we can't do anything about it.

That is why some say it's actually a step-out full twist. But I really believe it's an x-out full.

So it wasn't perfect. Kahit naman yung pinakita mo sa UP eh, hindi perfect. Bumaluktot yung legs nya sa full twist.

Front full twist is still one of the more difficult tosses. Sana matutunan din nung mga bagong full twisters na pumalit kay Jermae.

di ko naman sinasabi na perfect *** ginawa ng UP, sinasabi ko lang, sila *** closest na nakagawa. I think it's a step-out full twist (or kick layout full twist) kasi from the views in front and in the back, it's either you can barely see, or totally can't see that the legs of the flyer are apart. Dun sa 2006, di ko sure, but I do believe na hindi siya nag x-out fulls kasi straight lang *** katawan niya na nagtitwist, and until may ibang vid, mahirap sabihin kung ano un. *** sa 2007, most probably it's a step-out full twist since pagkastep out niya, or kick out, nagtitwist na kaagad siya kasabay ng layout, in which di naman dapat ganun pag x-out full twist kasi maglalayout ka muna habang naka-x pagkatapos ay tsaka ka mag fufull twist.

i don't know but all i can say is even if it's suppose to be an x-out but the legs, even just the legs, are not spread apart to form the upper part of the x, it's still not considered as an x-out, or any x basket toss.

same with the alleged double full twist, it was supposed to be a double full twist, according to many, but the flyer may have had a problem doing another twist, making it just a full twist...instead of a double.

You know what kaya hindi clear sa iba yung form ng tosses nila kasi I noticed from the previous years problema ng UST ang height ng basket tosses nila sobrang baba compared sa ibang schools na ang taas ng tosses. Well I don't blame if safety ang concern nila dahil either inexperienced pa yung flyer or walang trust yung flyer sa bases nila. Last year 2008 cdc hindi ganun kalakas ng dating nung tosses nila dahil ang baba. Try doing those toss with a little more height and you'll see the difference.

Well in 2007 yes they did an x-out full twist toss but they did not do a double full twist in which others claimed that they did( I was there watching it live at the back side near the floor).

I got what you mean. Based sa 2 videos the legs of the flyers were really spread out when they were tossed. The first video the girl did the twist when she was about to land na but the 2nd one which I think is the correct form the twist was supposed to be done immediately after the x form.

I wasn't really expecting much from SDT right now, for perhaps around 70-80% of them are rookies. I just want their stunts perfectly done come September.

2002-2006, LA Gear ang sponsor nila. 2007 naman ang Converse. Last year, it's Dickies and Fit N Right.

Regarding yung sa nagtatahi, not sure kung sino pero kakilala nila kung sino man yung nagtatahi.
nung 2001, kung hindi nagkakamali ang ganda ko sa pagkakatanda, fila ang sponsor ng salinggawi. pati na rin nung 2000 'ata.

2002, hindi pa la gear ang sponsor ng salinggawi nun kasi naka yellow na nike na shoes pa sila nun e.

The competition uniform needs something that will do wonders to the eyes of everyone.

Pleats and patterns would do best. The A line is probably the best I've seen but movements will have to be precalculated for them to make a good visual impact. Eitherway, magandang tingnan mukhang hindi galing sa gym.

They can play with the colors to enhance visuals when doing a twist, a pass or even just a jump. It really makes an added impact to the stunt done. :)

Yes, Spider and Wolf Wall are slightly different. The Spider is actually a variation of the Wolf Wall. Sa Spider, nakatungtong yung 3rd level flyers sa 2nd level flyers. Whereas sa Wolf Wall, may separate lifters yung 3rd level flyers.

Basically, mas simple ang Wolf Wall kesa Spider. Pero kung mounting technique ang pagbabasehan, mas mahirap ang one-count Wolf Wall ng UST kesa sa "gapang" Spider ng FEU noong 2007. :D

Yung DLSU ay nakagawa ng one-count Spider noong 2007. Pero medyo "madaya" yung mounting technique kasi sa sahig pa lang nakatungtong na yung 3rd level flyers sa binti ng 2nd level flyers. With UST's wolf wall, lahat ng flyers nakatungtong sa ground before they were lifted all at the same time. Kaya hindi ko masabi kung alin sa dalawa ang mas mahirap gawin.

regarding dlsu's one count, hindi naman siya madaya, one count pa rin naman siya, medyo mas mahirap nga un kasi may biglang taas, note, hindi naman ganun ka-stable tumayo sa legs ng isang tao.

kase high school yung mga bida sa bring it on series. sa high school cheerleading competitions that follow international/US standards hanggang 2 levels lang ang pyramids while college compets allow up to 2.5. ang spider kase 2.5 na kaya hindi nila pwedeng gawin kaya hanggang wolf wall lang ang allowed sila so parang yun na yung most difficult pyramid for high schools.

Huwag na kasing patulan ang squad na may 5 panalo lang. Huwag ng ikumpara sa 8 titles ng UST. At UST sa mga talo nila, puro sila 1st runner up (except 2001) E yung ibang squad wala man lang sila sa top 3 nung 90's at dinaig pa sila ng FEU ng 2006.

Nakakapanindig-balahibo habang ginagawa ito ng Salinggawi of the '90s kasi para kang namalik-mata lang eh nakagawa na sila ng ganyang pormasyon.

Hindi ko talaga ma-imagine kung paano nila nagawa ang pyramid na ito. Yung mga gumagawa ng spider ngayon, yung babae sa gitna ay nakaalalay sa paa nung dalawa sa gilid nya. Yung dalawang babae naman sa gilid, nakaalalay din sa binti nung nakatungtong sa kanila.

Pero sa larawang ito, walang ganun! :eek:

Mas mahirap ang buhay diya. Dahil mismong buhay mo ang nakasalalay. Hindi mo alam kung kelan ka mamamatay :(

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this already a 3-high pyramid and therefore illegal? Ang alam ko kasi, kapag yung mga paa ng nasa 3rd level ay nakatungtong na sa balikat ng 2nd level, whether nakatayo o nakadapa lang, 3-high na sya. Kaya sa Bring It On 3, yung 2-2-1 Straddle pyramid ng Pacific Vista, at yung Swedish Falls ng UP noong 2007 ay considered as 3-high na. :confused:

Yung babae sa 4th level, sobrang taas na nya. Lampas na sa mga ulo ng mga nasa 2nd level.

Sa tingin ko hindi pa naman. Sa pagkakaintindi ko (kung tama man) ang 3-high pyramid ay equivalent sa height ng 3 tao na pinagpatong-patong. Correct me if im wrong. hehe

YUng 1st 2 levels parang di pa sya equivalent sa height ng 2 tao kasi parang shoulder height lang ng lifter yung pagbuhat sa nsa 2nd level. Yung nsa 3rd level, maliit na height lang naman yung naoccupy nila.

Yung sa UP 2007 parang ganun din.

But using your argument, then can I say that UST isn't a safe place too? Remember the rotc cadet...

Just how much do you guys hate UP that you take these deaths lightly and maybe even inject humor or insult to the incident? You see, these are very very serious matters. There is not a single day when UP people forget these mistakes and try as much as they can to prevent another one.

I believe this isn't how the priests of UST teach their students.
