Nice lists! I once devoted a section of my homepage to depressing songs...

Some sad songs I've heard on NU are Sarah McLachlan's "Adia", Portishead's "Glory Box" and "Sour Times", Splender's "Yeah Whatever", Shades Apart's "Valentine", Neve's "It's Over Now", Foo Fighters' "Walking After You", and Chris Cornell's "Can't Change Me".

With those listed, I'd have to agree with Live's "Lightning Crashes", Caroline Spine's "Wallflower" and "Sullivan", Guster's "Demon" Jeff Buckley's "Last Goodbye", and Ben Fold's Five's "Brick".

(P.S. Live has a lot of other sad songs in their album Throwing Copper and if you think "Brick" is depressing, listen to Ben Fold Five's "Smoke" sometime in the album Whatever And Ever Amen! But notably, the most depressing song for me for a while was Duncan Sheik's "In The Absence of Sun"...)

"freshmen" by verve pipe and "brick" by ben folds five are equally good at escalating my anxiety attacks.
